If you want a TV, then this and this would be good.

Also, a projector would work well too. This projector is amazing, but it's a bit above your budget, so you wouldn't have money for a screen. For you, I reccomend this projector. It's made by a well respected company, has great review, amazing 3D and 2D performance, and a great picture. It also leaves you with a good amount of money to buy a screen.

hey i was thinking of buying this but i have no idea about your festival deals. Should i wait for black friday or something and get a better deal?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I take that to mean that for example if I take these two Sonys:
4K and 1080
which, according to the side by side comparison appear to be nearly identical except that one is 4K and the other is 1080, and played the same DVD or Blu-Ray on them, the 4K would look better because it is inherently better quality?

Would that mean that you think it's worth the extra dollar investment (in this case the 4K is $3500 and the 1080 is $1800 roughly) for quality in production and quality in picture? What about reliability?

As for the receiver/speakers. Would you suggest then a 7.1 with 2 in ceiling speakers towards the middle of the room? I'm certainly not interested in having useless technology. I'm happy to invest in high quality sound that truly surrounds us (for movies and just general music - I love the opera and have a lot of live music DVDs) and I'm honestly lost on the best way to go about this. What would your suggestion be then in terms of receiver/speakers?

edit: also did my layout description make sense? I can try to sketch it out or something if I'm incoherently rambling at this point!

I have seen the 70" Sony KDL-70W850B go on sale several times. You just missed yesterday's deal for $1788 shipped.

I think this would be your best bet in the price range you are looking for, if you can keep an eye on it and wait until it goes back on sale.

edit: Good Amazon reviews Also, it might be worth a minute of your time to call Adorama and see if they could possibly honor yesterday's price, and if not ask if they know when it might go back on sale.

edit 2: Looks like that deal is still live (Expires tomorrow, 8/17), you just have to add to cart to see the discount.
