Did you charged controller with phone charger? I did and i burned usb port on controller (samsung note 4 ac adapter) . My controller worked only when it was connected to ps4.
I solved charging broken controller by buying ps charging station, because with charging station the controller is charged through different port.

This charging station is still probably my best purchase when it comes to the ps4. Small footprint and looks pretty nice too.

I picked these up for like half the price that they go for (£20) from HMV. Its awesome, unless you plan on playing for more than 6 hours consecutively. But even then, just pick up a second controller and it will charge both!

Im sure there is nothing wrong with this stand, but it's weird the US never got the "official" Sony stand. It's out in Europe.

We also never got the official DS4 charging cradle. I love the design of that thing.

As far as I can tell, the PowerA is a third party product, but it looks like a decent option for PSVR if you have (or planning to get) Move controllers.

That's not the official charging station, it's an officially licensed charging station and is not made by Sony. Sony's official Dualshock 4 Charging Station is this one, which is not yet available in the US.

Never had an issue with it. I was taking some big breaks and controllers were always ok. Although I am using European (international) version of charger - AFAIK "official" one for US is made by Power A and international is made by Sony

That's what I think of this type of charger, they would have to line up perfect and slide in to not damage port.

Are the Sony ones any better that click in and use the other port?

I'm probably in the minority but I hope the usb c is in the same place as the micro and they keep the bottom port. My charger is awesome and I don't think it would work with usb c.

I live in Europe and I didn't like the idea of that stand from the start, I've chose to split it into 3:

this headset case - keeps it away from dust, or good for transport

I have the official PS dock charger thingy (one of these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlayStation-DualShock-Charging-Station/dp/B00D781PSI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1418023379&sr=8-4&keywords=ps4+charger - Although not at that price!) And it works just fine. I like the fact that it uses the charging dock at the bottom of the controller, and not the USB port, which I am not convinced will survive the years of plugging and unplugging that I expect a controller to go though. I know that micro USB is designed for 10,000 cycles, but I like using the more durable looking option, and having a fallback if that breaks.

Yeah, this is the one I'm using. It comes with a mains power that connects to the bottom of the dock via micro usb and then into a power brick and into the mains.

You can buy it off Amazon UK for about $46 bucks shipped.

Would be good to know. Since we are on the subject of importing, does anyone know whats the total cost of the official Sony Dual Shock 4 Charger? Wouldn't I also need a power source converter? (Is that you Luke?)

In the UK we have the official Sony part, which (I think) is MUCH MUCH nicer :P
