$2 per single dvd = $14 and the star wars comes with 4 disks, episodes 4 5 6 and a bonus special features. This set of movies is also remastered and has the added scenes....It apparently sells for $190 at amazon http://www.amazon.com/Trilogy-Empire-Strikes-Widescreen-Edition/dp/B00003CXCT/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370019270&sr=8-1&keywords=Star+wars+special+edition+dvd So I dunno, I'm guessing $80 is fair.....

Well, I detailed what's in the Blu ray set here I know that there are other versions where Lucas has altered parts of the original trilogy about 3 times now... I guess it depends on which one you might want. I have this version which adds some changes that were made on a third VHS release about 11 or 12 years ago. There's also this version but I honestly don't know much about it.

EDIT: formatting

That's unfortunately not a fan edit. That's on the widescreen DVD collection... I have it and haven't watched it since.

I'm not bothered too much by the CGI celebration. It's sad they cut out the original music though.
What irrationally annoyed me was that it made no sense for Anakin as a force ghost to go back to young Anakin mode when neither Yoda nor Obi Wan went back to younger forms.

I also feel bad for the guy who was there originally because it seems like they just cut him out to give a shout out to the prequels which were fairly new at the time.

At least back when Demonoid was a thing I was able to download that Despecialized edition that someone made of the original trilogy.

MAYTHE4THBEWITHU since I kinda doubt you'd be willing to drop an INSANE $170 on the original trilogy how about the new one which is a hell of a lot cheaper? haha :) why are DVD's so much more expensive than Blu-Ray?!?!

Ah wow! So is the 2004 worth having at all? Whats on the bonus disc? Are any of these worth checking out? There's a couple dozen different options

Damn, I traded that version to my brother for this version. Looks like he got the best of me on that deal, just from a dollar value perspective.

garage sales?

HOLY SHIT! I sold this set a couple years ago for $40. I got hosed on that deal lol

Trilogy for $150

IV for $80

V for $40

VI for $72

The VHSs weren't letterboxed. Source: I watched them.

I recommend getting the prequel trilogy on blu ray - they made some changes I liked (adding CGI Yoda to PT)

As for the OT - I recommend not getting the blu ray, not a fan of the changes they made

[I would get the DVD release of the OT from 2004] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00003CXCT?psc=1)

PSA: This is canon, this is a cannon.

I picked up the first issue of the DVDs without the theatrical versions, but with the bonus disc with special features. This.
