They're only like $13USD on amazon for the QCK+. Even if you're a minor without a job I'm sure you can find some way to make $13. I personally worked a few hours for my grandparents when I bought mine and I paid $20.

Edit: $15USD without prime.

VG248QE? Welcome to the club, brother. o/

Might want to consider buying one of these or these for CS though, with that huge mousepad of yours you probably lift the mouse more often than flusha. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

u/ItsTyrrellYo · 15 pointsr/ireland

Amazon have gone fucking bananas in the last few months, with tons of shit being added to the hazardous list that were previously not.

An example of this is a mousemat that I bought in february of last year with no problems. Suddenly, it's a hazardous material that can't be shipped outside the UK. It's a mousemat in a cardboard tube for fuck sake. They even let me order it again, only to cancel my entire order when they discovered that it was "hazardous"

Bunch of fucking mongs

u/ZarnoLite · 15 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

And pick up one of these while you're at it.

If you look at that and think, "I don't need a mouse pad that large," lower your sensitivity some more.

I am a fan of the huge SteelSeries mousepads.

u/JaditicRook · 6 pointsr/tf2

There is no empirical best because what works varies from person to person. I hope you dont mean changing sensitivity on a per class basis because that sounds annoying. Generally the lower you can go while still turning fast the better(more precise you will be). Get a big mousepad for starters, you cant exactly start using a lower sensitivity if you have 2 inches of physical space on either side of your mouse to move it. For example.

Since you dont know what works you need to experiment. If you absolutely dont know where to start, looking at this really old spreadsheet may help you get an idea for what many people use. Most of the scouts there are using between 10-20 inches per 360. Calculate yours here. Those dont necessarily represent the right sensitivity values for you, or even the sensitivity of current top scouts, but is a jumping off point at least.

u/TheLunchTrae · 5 pointsr/FortniteCompetitive

The cheapest high quality mouse is, in my opinion at least, the Model O. A crappy mouse will make high level aiming nearly impossible, so I wouldn’t cheap out on that.

For keyboards, as long as it doesn’t have ghosting issues, it’ll be fine. I used this one up until recently and it never really caused my any issues, but if you wanna go with something cheaper that’s not a problem.

For mousepads, you can find decently sized relatively cheap ones anywhere, I currently have [this one](SteelSeries QcK Gaming Surface - Large Cloth - Best Selling Mouse Pad of All Time - Optimized For Gaming Sensors - Maximum Control https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UVRU6G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aIhYDbPVEHSKJ) which is both a great size and relatively cheap, but there are tons just like it as well if you look around.

u/femnsos · 4 pointsr/G502MasterRace

What you probably need is a larger mouse pad, something like the qck +.

(Edit)forgot to add, here is a great video on sensitivity by adren.

u/chudaism · 3 pointsr/Competitiveoverwatch

The g502 is on sale right now and paired with a QCK+ falls right in your budget. This is the exact setup I use and works great.

u/uncashregistered · 3 pointsr/LearnCSGO

You can start with a SteelSeries QcK+, or QcK Heavy, depending on if you want the pad to be thicker. Personally I don't like these because they're pretty rough and give me friction burns on my wrist, so if you're worried about that happening to you there's other options like Glorious XL, Razer Gigantus, Zowie G-SR, HyperX Fury S (this one is also rough for me but not as bad as QcK), and there's many more but that's a few off the top of my head. Some are a bit pricey though. If you really want some good info and help from more people, make a post on /r/mousereview saying what games you play and what kind of features, if any, you're looking for. They help me out with mouse related stuff all the time, and I'm also pretty active there too haha.

More than likely the QcK+ will be plenty for you as long as it isn't too rough for you. Seems to be an uncommon problem, but I have talked to other people with the issue. Just try to find a pad that's at least 40cm (400mm) or 16in or so wide, that's the most important thing. Some people swear by the Allsop Raindrop XL even though it's a bit on the small side for me. If you're around 900-1000 eDPI you should be fine with this one, I like it a lot, just wish it had a couple more inches in each dimension.

I have this mousepad (the CompLexity team version) coming in tomorrow if you want to wait and see if I recommend it.

Apologies for the wall of text, I'm kind of into this stuff, probably too much haha.

u/cfl2 · 3 pointsr/OverwatchUniversity

Yes. It prevents sliding and hitching and other inconsistent responses from spot to spot.

Crappy pads are crappy, but the Steelseries QcK+ (or the QcK if you can't fit a big one) is cheap and quite good.

u/FlyingFox32 · 3 pointsr/OverwatchUniversity

I've got the Qck+. It's pretty big, but just at your budget price I believe. The edges aren't sharp, my mouse glides on it perfectly, and it stays in its place on my desk, no sliding around. I highly recommend it. I've had it for a few months now and it hasn't frayed on the sides or worn down at all. The Qck+ is a great choice if you ask me. Link!

u/HysteriaVG · 3 pointsr/MouseReview

QcK+ is a safe option. £15, non-stitched edges, always been popular in esports.

u/4Bongin · 3 pointsr/Competitiveoverwatch

Mine does and after 15+ years of competitive gaming I can't kick the habit. Bought one of these super thick mouse pads and im more comfortable now though https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-QcK-Gaming-Mouse-Black/dp/B000UVRU6G?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0

u/Basictiger · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

If you have the space, get a qck+, its only $12 on amazon and the same size as this one. Link: http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-QcK-Gaming-Mouse-Black/dp/B000UVRU6G

I don't know about other sites. I know NCIX was selling World of Tanks versions for $5 a long time ago...but who would want that LOL

EDIT: Qck+ for $14

u/Mezecs · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

The QcK+ is a good mat.

u/uhufreak · 2 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

One of the best aimers of all time (NIP's f0rest) is playing at 1400 eDPI, so it's definitly possible to compete with such a high sens.
1400 - not 2040, let alone 3630.
But you must be aware of the fact, that it is incredibly hard to be consistently good with such a high sensitivity, since you need to be able to move your mouse way more precisely than someone who's playing at the very common 900 eDPI (the average for CS Pros).

If you really are serious about getting good at Shooters, then you absolutely need a bigger mouse pad.
One of the best is the Steelseries QCK+ for 25$.
I've used that one for 5 years now.

Imho you should invest into a bigger mouse pad now, instead of having to relearn your aim at a later point.

Just for reference, GE at 1160 eDPI.

u/Big_Dirty_Piss_Boner · 2 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

>So this leads me to have a high sensitivity 800 DPI + 3.9 in game sensitivity so i can do a 180 with 1 swipe of my wrist. Is this bad ?

Not really bad, but not good at all for CS. You never need to do 180s in CS.

So most people go for a sensitivity that gives you the maximum precision whilst still being able to do a 180 with 1-2 full full swipes with the arm.

Your sensitivity is 4 times as much as the average sens of a pro.

My sens when I started was pretty much the same as yours. I switched to 800x1 and then later 800x0.75

I don't really see any advantage from using a high sensitivity in CS. I would switch if I was you. And I wouldn't switch gradually. Buy a big mousepad like this one https://www.amazon.de/SteelSeries-QcK-Gaming-Mauspad-schwarz/dp/B000UVRU6G and just jump into the cold water. I was comfortable with the new sens after a few hours of DM and almost instantly saw improvements to my high sens.

u/hab1b · 2 pointsr/OverwatchUniversity

I will say you can get a nicer set up as far as headset goes is you ignore the "gaming" headsets.

CAD MH210W $50.00

Blue Snowball Mic $50

I have musicians buds who use these in home studios. More than enough for gaming.

IF that is still too much look at the Plantronics 202180 , ~$40

My personal favorite mousepad is the QCK+. $15

Rosewill RGB80 Keyboard is a solid mechanical keyboard for about $50 marked donw from $150 for whatever that is worth.

And I always recommend the Deathadder Chroma for about $60

EDIT: What are you running for gaming rig?

I feel like something like this would make everything look a bit more symmetrical tho

SteelSeries QcK Gaming Surface -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UVRU6G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

u/rocketmonkeys · 2 pointsr/buildapc

If you like cheap/simple fabric ones, this is gigantic:

http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-QcK-Gaming-Mouse-Black/dp/B000UVRU6G/

The QcK is the medium sized one, probably enough for most. I like the QcK+ is almost too big, have to have a lot of desk space to spare.

EDIT: Sorry, you asked benefit. Desk surfaces can be bad (glass, rough), or ok (wood, smooth). Many mousepads are fabric & soft, and very smooth, which is great for mouse movement. Even durable desk surfaces wear over time. And they take their toll on the mouse' gliding pads, scratching them up or wearing away. Mousepad will prolong that and be smoother longer.

If you don't care about that, use whatever mouse on whatever surface. If it does bother you, get a decent size decently priced pad.

u/xilodon · 2 pointsr/Competitiveoverwatch

Going from over 50k eDPI to barely over 1/10th of that can be a bit drastic all at once, but yeah you generally want to find your ideal sensitivity asap and stick with it. After a couple weeks you might even want to try out something lower if you play a lot of hitscan, short term experimentation isn't bad, just plan on sticking to something for the long term.

As others have said, if you aren't already using a larger mousepad, that makes the adjustment exponentially easier. The QcK+ is surprisingly good for how cheap you can get it compared to other large mousepads.

u/Subject9_ · 2 pointsr/PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I run at about 23.5 cm per 180, so that is not too low. I am slightly above the pro CS:GO average.

I would have a hard time with that mouse size though, since it needs to be big enough that you can do the full 180, from wherever you have your mouse on the pad by default, in one movement.

I know it sucks to hear that you have to buy something to help fix your problem, but it really is night and day.

https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-QcK-Gaming-Mouse-Pad/dp/B000UVRU6G?th=1

This one is the most popular and recommended.

If you don't go with a mousepad, then you may need to raise your sens. This is a pretty shitty solution though, and will definitely make your aim worse, but will make movement much easier.

u/PM_ME_PRETTY_SUNSETS · 2 pointsr/apexlegends

You'll probably want to lower your sens a bit to a ton depending on what dpi/sens you're using right now. That's the biggest mistake newcomers to FPS games make. It's surprising how low some people play on. It allows you to aim with your whole arm instead of just your wrist. A lot of people will get large mouse mats like the qck+ so they don't run out of room. That and making sure you have good headphones for directional audio to hear footsteps and gunshots.

But above all else the best way to get better -aim wise and game sense wise- is to simply play more :)

i5s tend to perform a bit better than equivalent Ryzen CPUs for gaming, and the motherboards are a bit cheaper. So I'd go with an i5 7500 and a B250 motherboard. If you have your own Skylake CPU to use to update the BIOS in the motherboards, go with a H110 or B150 motherboard to save ~$15-20 per computer, but otherwise, the B250 is the best choice. (You don't want to risk getting an older motherboard that isn't updated to boot with the newer CPUs)

I'd swap out the 2 x 4 GB of RAM for 1 8 GB stick so that you can add more in the future when games start needing more than 8 GB of RAM.

A SSD isn't really necessary at this budget, as they're low on storage and all they do over a cheaper HDD is reduce boot times by 30 seconds and load times by 15-60 seconds in some games. A 1 TB WD Caviar Blue is $50, so you save some money over the SSD and get over 4x the storage space.

I switched the RX 480 model to a very similar one because the one you picked doesn't have a price showing. Just get the cheapest 8 GB RX 480 from a reputable brand and site.

The EVGA PSU went up in price, so I changed it to a very similar model that's $20. You could switch the PSUs with 420W Seasonics if you want better durability and build quality.

For a Wi-Fi adapter, I added a $20 USB TP-Link ac adapter. You're probably better off with an ethernet network switch/splitter if your cousins have a wired connection in their house/apartment, though.

> Personalized cases (doesn't need to be extravagant, something like personalized LEDs for each computer?)

Maybe get these RGB LEDs? They're fairly cheap

This build, which uses my suggestions above, ends up saving you about $100 per PC excluding the RGB LEDs and Wi-Fi adapters which add $40 per PC. So you're at $4200 total for the 5 PCs with RGB and Wi-Fi.

> Mice (4)

This is up to personal preference. I use the Logitech G502 but it's a bit expensive at ~$70-80 USD each if you're buying 5 of them. I'd recommend looking at Logitech's gaming mice in the $40-50 range. The G602 is on sale for $40, and the G502 is on sale for $60, so I'd get one of those two. The G602 is wireless, and the difference doesn't seem to be too big, so I'd go with the G602.

> Mousepad (4)

I'd heard good things about the Steelseries Qck and Qck+, and the Glorious PC Gaming brand of mousepads, which are more affordable. I personally use a Logitech G240 mousepad, which I've had for a few years, though the rubber coating on the bottom had started to fall off, so I'm planning on replacing it with a Glorious PC Gaming Extended mousepad. The advantage of the Steelseries mousepads seems to be that they are from a more reputable brand, but the Glorious mousepads are stitched at the edges to prevent the rubber part from falling off (Which seems to be common with cloth mousepads after a lot of wear), and are a bit cheaper.

> Keyboard (4)

I personally use a Corsair STRAFE. If you want to get a mechanical keyboard, the Corsair Vengeance K65 keyboards seem to be a great budget choice at $60 each.

> Monitor (5)

I'd get 23/24" 1080p monitors with low response times (Preferably 5 ms or lower). At $85 each, this 23.6" Acer seems good.

> Microphone and Headphones/ Or Headset (4)

Headsets tend to be overpriced with poor sound quality. Something from the r/headphones wiki in the below $50 range for headphones should be excellent for the price.

Mic-wise, a cheap clip-on mic such as this one for just under $10 should be fine.

If you want to cut down costs more, you could use onthehub.com to get cheaper Windows keys if your cousins' schools are on there. It's a site partnered with Microsoft to give discounts to students and teachers. I personally used it for Windows 10 and I haven't had any problems with my OS (I've been using the key for about 6 months now.)

After peripherals, if you spend $40 per each pair of headphones, and $87.89 on Windows, you're at $1085 per PC or $5425 total. You save $270-320 or so total if you can get the Windows keys from onthehub for $10-20 each. Here's the parts list excluding the mics, headphones, keyboards, monitors, mice, and mousepads.

I'd go with /u/RatchetRussian's suggestion of using Jet.com. I'm Canadian, so I've never used the site, but it seems to be pretty reputable.

> Should I build the computers myself or ask a professional?

You can build it yourself easily with a good YouTube tutorial. I'd recommend this Newegg tutorial or this PCPer tutorial from the sub's sidebar.

> Should I gift them individually or all at once? Christmas or random summer day?

I'd just give them all at once when you finish all of the PCs so that everyone can start playing at the same time, but do whatever you think is best.

I'd also go with /u/Clintosity's suggestion of making sure that there's enough room for 5 PCs. If there's issues with space, you can switch the cases to mATX cases and build smaller PCs.

Hopefully this helps, and good luck with the PC building!

It have any mouse software you can download? Try a DPI of 500 on that mouse.

Also, I forgot. large mouse pad helps immensely.

Additionally, a 144hz monitor and just good frames help. There's a few settings you can turn down to save performance, as well as making it easier to see the enemy

u/Jpon9 · 2 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

You'd probably be better off staying at a low sens like 2 in-game and 400 DPI (which is personally what I use) since you can be more accurate, but it is mostly preferential.

> Do the pros just have MASSIVE mousepads and literally sweep their mice like a foot to turn around?

Well, yeah. Sounds about right. You would need a larger mousepad than normal, something like a SteelSeries QcK+, which is what I use.

u/Bennettisme · 2 pointsr/battlestations

It looks like the Steelseries QCK+, I have a QCK Heavy which is the same size but thicker and I love it! It's great if you play at a low sensitivity in games like CS:GO.

From what I have heard is that Corsair makes also good mousepads.

u/SgtBlumpkin · 2 pointsr/OverwatchUniversity

This is an awesome starting point as long as you have a big enough mousepad (my recommendation) and a decent wired mouse. I think it's important that early on your sensitivity is low enough that you are forced to pick up and set down the mouse so it becomes a natural motion. Beyond that, the best practice is just playing the game.

u/Elocgnik · 2 pointsr/Overwatch

Big mousepad helps a lot.

I use the qck+, I play on 1.5 @ 1800 dpi (equivalent to 3.37@800). I rarely have issues. With the big mousepad I can still play a mobile class like genji and not be gimped by my sens.

Honestly, lowering your sensitivity really makes a huge difference. I started using 800 DPI and like 3.5 sens, changed to 400 and 1 sens and I've been much better since. Take the time to get used to the lower sens and it will pay off.

Desk: IKEA Linnmon/Oddvald. Pretty solid desk for the price, although leg room is a bit lacking, probably upgrading soon.

Chair: DXRacer Formula Series, really helped my posture and got rid of my back pain. Plus I'm a huge gear-head so it's very much my style.

Keyboard: Das Keyboard Professional w/ Brown Switches. This keyboard is fantastic, it's a treat to use every day, feels buttery smooth to type on and build quality is superb. I also have a CM Quickfire Ultimate that I use at work, also browns.

Mouse: Zowie EC2-A. Replaced my old Logitech G400 when it started intermittently cutting out, I think I like this mouse even more.

Mousepad: SteelSeries QcK+ for all that low DPI goodness.

Headset: Kingston HyperX Cloud II. I love this headset, it's super comfortable and has good directional sound.

Speakers: Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 FFP. I use my headset mainly but these are good enough for when I need them.

Monitors: BenQ XL2411Z flanked by two ASUS VS247H-P mounted on an Ergotech Triple Monitor Stand. Finally got the monitor stand this year after using two boxes to hold up my side monitors for far too long. However, the BenQ is probably my favorite purchase out of all of these, would've bought three if it served any real benefit to me.

Random Peripherals: uxcell extended power switch. I keep my computer under my desk so this is handy so I don't have to crouch under my desk to turn on my computer.

Inateck PCI-E to USB 3.0 5-Port PCI Express Card. My motherboard came with a fairly low number of USB ports so this allows me to plug in my printer and external hard drive, etc.

Get a LARGE mouse pad! I've been using this SteelSeries QcK+ ($14.99) and it's been very reliable for me, even that I play with slower sensitivity than your setting (800dpi with 1 sensitvity & "0.818933" zoom sensitivity

Use alllll of that surface area (15.7in x 17.72in x 0.08 in or 39.88cm x 45cm x 0.2cm) for about a week and you should be adjusted!

There's a thicker QcK too with the same surface are if you're interested.

Make sure to buy the correct size if you are!

In my opinion (I'm probably quite biased), I like Corsair for basic, reliable RGB products.

Keyboard - K65 (tenkeyless) and K70 (tenkey)

Mouse - I personally use the Corsair Sabre, but it is really up to personal preference (buttons, etc)

Mouse Pad - I use the SteelSeries QcK, but that's only cus I grabbed it off Amazon because it was cheap and had good reviews. It is a decently big mousepad (~30x~25cm)

u/Thoriin · 1 pointr/macsetups

I don't know what kind of sensor is in that G600 but if you're big into CS then adding a nice mousepad to your setup would only be beneficial. Makes a lot of difference. I used to use my mouse on my desk like that but getting a mousepad has helped with a lot of games that I play, including CS.

I use this one and it works flawlessly.

Note: these tips on mouse acceleration will change how your mouse will behave universally, not just in games. It will take some getting used to if you haven't done these already.

Windows Mouse Settings and Mouse Acceleration

First, make sure you go into Windows mouse settings and that "enhance pointer precision" is OFF. Also make sure that the pointer speed is set to the most middle position. This sets it so that only the raw input of the hardware(your mouse) will be used in determining your pointer speed (ie. this eliminates software influences on mouse speed with the exception of 3rd party mouse software such as Razer Synapse). With "enhance pointer precision" on, it gives you mouse acceleration which you do NOT want in any shooter game.

This video by Linus is greatly informative about mouse acceleration and applies to any PC game.

The key to having good aim in any FPS is muscle memory. With mouse acceleration on, you can't achieve proper muscle memory. Consistency with the [distance you move your mouse] vs. [distance the pointer moves on screen], REGARDLESS of the speed in which you move your mouse, is essential.

DPI and in-game Sensitivity

Secondly, your mouse itself will play a major role with aim. The best case is to use the native DPI of your mouse if you are able to switch it. You will have to research what your mouse's native DPI is. It is true that a good mouse(with a good sensor) will benefit you much more than a crappy cheap mouse. If you are interested in getting a new mouse, check out /r/MouseReview.

I come from the CSGO crowd and the consensus is to use a low DPI with low sensitivity. For example, I have a Zowie EC1-A mouse and have it set to 800 DPI. Once you have your DPI mouse settings figured out, the next part is adjusting in-game sensitivity. Again, coming from the CSGO crowd, I have retained the same principles with this next tip and it is just what I am familiar with and you might benefit from giving it a shot.

Note: for this next part, do not aim down sight.

What you'll want to do is load up a custom game and walk right up to something that gives a vertical divide, such as the corner of a room or one side of a doorway and align your crosshairs so that it lines up with that vertical divide. Look as straight ahead as possible, not down or up. Place your crosshair as accurately as you can to that edge and then trying your best not to move your crosshairs, lift your mouse to the farthest left edge of your mousepad. Once your mouse is on the far left edge of the mousepad and your crosshairs still placed on the corner of the room or edge of doorway, swipe your mouse slowly and to the right horizontally, as straight as you can until you reach that corner of the room or doorway again. If you found that you barely moved your mouse any distance at all on your mousepad, then your sensitivity is too high. If you found that you had to lift your mouse again because you cleared the entire mousepad, then your sensitivity is too low. Adjust your in-game sensitivity so that a full swipe from the left side of the mousepad to the right side of the mousepad results in a 360° rotation.

With this setting, it becomes familiar to you if you hear somebody behind you, to swipe your mouse half a mousepad distance to look at them. It also just gives you a concrete zone in which you learn to move your mouse certain distances which translates into aiming at certain positions in-game.

If you find that this is too low of a sensitivity or vice versa, keep raising it or lowering it until you feel comfortable with it. Low sensitivity is actually much more beneficial to aiming well in games, so try to keep it consistent with the principles mentioned.

I have a fairly large mousepad, a SteelSeries QcK+ and so my sensitivity will be much lower than somebody with a smaller sized mousepad.

Aim Down Sight Sensitivity

This is entirely up to your own personal preference. I prefer my ADS sensitivity to be relatively low in order to make micro adjustments easier.

Practice Practice Practice

In CSGO, there is the deathmatch game mode where most people go to practice their aim. People generally focused on one-tapping headshots and this helps a lot with aim. Unfortunately we don't have a similar game mode in Siege. However, you can try to load up terrohunt or situations and just practice and getting used to your aim. Start slow and aim slow, get used to your sensitivity first. Always make sure to properly line up your sights before firing and getting used to that, no matter how long it takes you to move your mouse to aim on target. Pick up the pace as you get more familiar. Headshots are 1 hit kills in Siege and so if you can master aiming at the head and landing those headshots then you'll go pretty far with just aim alone.

Game Sense

I know this thread is about aiming, but game sense plays a large role in how well you will become at any game. Game sense is just something that you'll have to learn through playing the game with time. You'll learn what the common tactics are, where common chokeholds are, where the popular camping spots in rooms are. Having great aim alone isn't the ultimate element to being good at a shooter if you don't know WHERE to look first.

Closing Thoughts

I know I wrote a giant wall of text, but I tried my best to explain things in detail. These were the same tips given to me when I was just a noobie starting off playing CSGO and it has changed the entire way I play games now. I used to be terrible with mouse and kb and couldn't aim well at all. But through these guiding principles, I got better, much better.

tl;dr: Make sure mouse acceleration is off. Find a comfortable mouse DPI setting and in-game sensitivity. Practice practice practice.

u/Narratiive · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

Let me start off by telling you that it's going to take a while. People around the level you're suggesting, assuming we're talking about the same level, have 20+ times your playtime.

Here's my two cents from my personal experiences of the fastest route to become better.

First off, you'll need the right equipment. A computer that can get at least 150FPS+, a big mousepad, and a good mouse (Zowie FK, EC2, Steelseries rival, logitech g400(?)).

Keyboards are relatively unimportant, though i'd advise a mechanical one if you have the extra money. A 144hz monitor is great, but it is pricey and i'm assuming you don't have the computer to get the full worth out of it.

Really, the most important thing is a mouse and a big mousepad.

Once you have those, set your sensitivity to 800dpi/1.00 in game. You can adjust it slightly depending on your taste, but that's a pretty standard starting point.

Bind jump to your scrollwheel, and you're ready to go.

Trust me, people waste SO much fucking time messing up with these essentials. It will help you a lot if you get them right away.

-

/r/RecruitCS

Get 4 other people plus extra that you like, are as good or better than you (never worse), can play at the same time as you, and have the drive to get better.

If you can't find people right away via forums etc, try and look for the same type of people in your matches. Again, never worse, preferably a bit better.

Work your way up through matchmaking until you're around LE+.

At that point, you'll want to start playing ESEA. Keep in mind you're going to need to have some thick skin for all of this. People are going to talk shit, people are going to put you down, and a whole lotta people are going to be a lot better than you and crush you.

Once you get around 12RWS+, you can look for an open team for the next season.

Be social, friendly, and talkative with all the people you meet. Again, prioritize the people who are better than you.

Those people you met in your time ranking up, and grinding out ESEA? If they got good as fast as you, you can consider making a team with them. If you've playing for a while with eachother, and are good friends, that's a plus. Teamwork is essential, and being comfortable and familiar with people helps.

After that work your way up through teams, get into better division etc. etc.

-

That's the general gameplan, here are some details on actually achieving it.

1.) Create good habits for yourself.

  • Crosshair placement

Keep your crosshair at head level at all times. ALL TIMES. You want to develop the good habit.

Watch pro matches on www.twitch.tv , or download pro demos from www.HLTV.org .

You can watch a pro demo and see how they position their crosshair, and peek corners.

  • Movement

Stutterstepping, and understanding of efficiency are very important.

Let me just note here that voocsgo is fucking amazing for some of this stuff, and I suggest you look through his videos if you get a chance.

Here are some videos that I strongly suggest you watch.

Steel Is another fantastic source. If you have the time, I suggest you check out his stream as well.

A couple tips for movement are:

Press w/s as little as possible. You want to stutterstep every single time you stop. If you're peeking an angle, you stutterstep. Simple as that. Use the a/d keys as much as you can, since it's easier to stop and become accurate faster than the w/s keys.

Do not overpeek and commit to everything. Think about what you're doing, and use common sense.

I shit you not, much of this game is just applying common sense to your play.

    Example:

You are playing with your friend on B site inferno.

You decide to push up car, move forward past car, and try to directly challenge everyone who might be there.

Why is that a bad idea? First off, they are at an advantage. You are pushing into possibly more than one opponent, and making the kill as easy as possible for them.

Second off, you're taking the risk of simply giving up the site. If you die after you kill one person (if you're lucky), then they will just rush up and kill your teammate who's alone now. You just gave them the site, and most likely lost the round because you didn't use any utility, played overly aggressive, didn't communicate with your teammate, and took a fight that you were at a disadvantage going into.

Hopefully, you can recognize that stuff if you simply think about what you're doing, and apply common sense to it.

  • Unnecessary risks.

Again, this falls into the common sense area. Don't expose yourself if you don't have your gun out. Don't try and take more than one opponent at a time. Don't run with your knife out through an uncleared area.

You get the idea; hopefully you're old enough compared to many starters to CS:GO that this should be easy for you.

  • What do you call, and how do you call things?

First off, never rage or say unnecessary shit on the mic. It will probably demoralize your teammates, and no one will hear anything.

If you are playing long on CT Dust2, here are some examples:

"LONG LONG LONG THEY'RE ALL LONG oh my fucking god teammates WHY AREN'T YOU HERE"

"flashes over long, 2 out, 3 out, bomb down"

I'm sure you can tell which one is better.

Communicate with your teammates calmly, and try not to say things over and over. 1 Time should be enough for most things, and if your teammates don't hear, it's not your fault. Sometimes you'll want to say really important information twice, such as if someone is flanking etc.

Point is, don't whine and bitch on the mic; keep it simple. Stop holding down the pushtotalk button and rage to yourself. Ideally, not at all. Remember, it's a game.

  • Maps.

All of them. Yes, there are other ones than Dust 2.

Spend a day on an offline server simply familiarizing yourself with each map. No, you won't know the timings. No, time in an offline server will not lead to mastery of the map.

But, you will be less intimidated when you play it for the first time, and you will already know the layout of the maps.

2.) How did I die? How could I have played it better?

Sometimes you didn't mess up, and it was simply a result of good play on the others behalf, or something unrelated such as an fps-spike, lag, or there was simply nothing you could do.

    How did I die?

Recognize what happened. If your teammate messed up a call, if it was something out of your hands as I stated above, then you don't need to ask how you could play it better.

How could I have played it better?

This requires critical thinking. Maybe you could have thrown a flash, maybe you messed up by taking a fight you didn't have to, maybe you wide-peeked an awper. All of these things you can recognize and remind yourself not to do if you have the self-consciousness to do so.

If you don't, you're going to have to find someone to review your demo for you. Having someone who is a lot better, and knows a lot more about the game than you do helping you is incredibly useful.

Sometimes you don't know what you could do better, sometimes you've just hit that wall and can't figure out what to improve, sometimes the game just seems to be against you. Whatever it may be, someone helping you and criticizing you can cause something to click in your brain, and that wall disappears.

Even if you're not stuck, this can be useful. Head over to /r/csgocritic and a post a demo if you'd like it reviewed. Hell, I could review it. Post a demo where you don't do HORRIBLY, and you don't do great. Just one where you thought you played average, but could've be better.

    3.) Managing your time

Seeing as you're at university, i'm going to assume you don't have a butt ton of time to play, as most teenagers do.

Here is a sort of priority list:

  1. Playing matches and gaining experience in every situation possible. aka gamesense

  2. Basic knowledge. ie. Learning the maps, and smokes. This you shouldn't have to do much after you do it a couple times.

  3. Warmup. Always warmup before you play a game. Keep it to 5-15 minutes; anything more will just burn you out. It will increase the quality of your play, and give you a better base when you play each game.

  4. DM. Again, i'm assuming you don't have a ton of time. In that case, I recommend you choose a day, and set aside the majority of time you play for DM.

Voo has a "proper way to DM" video that I included in the playlist, that should explain what I want to say very well.

Prioritize playing MM/ESEA over DM. Developing the knowledge of the timings, people's habits, where people play, how to peek, and learning from your mistakes are a whole lot more important than DMing.

Make sure you utilize your playing time efficiently.

    --

Summing up all of my in-game advice

    Develop good habits:

Aim at head level at all times,

    Always counterstrafe when you stop,

Don't commit to every fight; think about what you're doing,

Keep your calls short and simple. Rage off the mic,

Critical thinking: Think about what you messed up, and what you can do better next time,

    You cannot control your teammates

Whether they fucked something up, or simply aren't as good as you, disregard them. The only thing you can control in the game is yourself.

    Other

Get the proper equipment and settings,

Be friendly, make a lot of friends, and always try to find people who are better than you to learn from.

It's going to take you a long time.

    --

Sorry for the long comment, but this is all pretty essential stuff. Please ask questions about this stuff, since I most likely messed up somewhere in there.

Buy a large mouse pad like the QcK+. There's zero reason to game with the usual tiny ass mousepads.

u/Crimsonial · 1 pointr/AskGames

As mentioned above, Steelseries pads are great, inexpensive, and you can easily pick one up from Amazon or your shop of choice. I personally like the QcK+, because it's like designating an entire part of the desk for that purpose for a few bucks extra.

Don't fret too much with the mousepad choice, with a decent mouse, he could probably use a nearby wall and still get perfect tracking.

u/triforcetp · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Steelseries Qck+ is pretty cheap and is a fantastic mousemat. I've had it for ages and it's perfect for CS:GO. It's huge as well.

u/StackOfCups · 1 pointr/OverwatchUniversity

I use this one and it's fantastic, especially for the price. I have to move my keyboard way to the left to make room but with 2.35 sens and 1800 DPI I can do over 360 with the entire mousepad, so tracers and genjis are just an arm workout now, haha. It's fun.

u/CharlieBarrettLad97 · 1 pointr/MousepadReview

Haha. Is the Fury S and Fury S Pro the same or are they different? fancy letting me know how it is in a few weeks time? Then I can go ahead and order it if you think the glide hasn't started to wear off :)

Edit: Is the QCK+ a fast glide cloth mouse mat then? Is it called literally 'QCK+'? I see a lot of different QCK+ variants, is this the one you are referring to?

I've used the razer goliathus in the past and it was nice. Has a very textured surface.

I currently use a steelseries qck+ and I prefer it above the goliathus. It's not as textured but I feel like I have plenty of control regardless.

edit: for some reason the razer amazon link links to the speed version. I used the CONTROL version to clarify. It looks like they're out of stock for some reason though?

u/Versedian · 1 pointr/CasualConversation

The mouse pad I wanted was the > SteelSeries QcK+[$14.99] < because I need a bigger mouse pad to reduce my DPI for competitive Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

As for keyboards the one I want is the > Corsair Gaming K70[$129.99] < but in reality I would've looked for the cheapest mechanical keyboard I could find.

u/Steve_String · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

Idk about cheap mouses, you may want to set a price point for people who have tried out a bunch of them. But for mousepads I definitely recommend the Steelseries Qck+. Nice and big, works like a charm.

u/CosmonautJizzRocket · 1 pointr/battlestations

I'd say a matching non ugly mouse pad, or just a nice FPS mousepad. Something that either fits with the black and white theme, or is just black. I prefer the Steel Series QcK+ or the Zowie G-SR if you want to spend a little more for a really nice pad.

I'd also say try finding a better/better looking mouse as well. Probably something white or black. I can recommend the new Logitech G Pro Wireless, Zowie EC2-A or Logitech G900.

u/neocatzeo · 1 pointr/gaming

Yeah I use one of these.

The larger sizes (not insanely large) are very nice. A 2 or 3 extra inches horizontally and vertically was wonderful. Always had standard size mouse pads before.

    #Explanation of Part Choices:

  • Cpu: This is the strongest gaming cpu available.
  • Cpu Cooler: This is a high-end RGB liquid cooler that is compatible with RGB Fusion. This radiator has two RGB Fusion compatible fans and it will be installed in the top of the case.
  • Motherboard: The Z390 AORUS PRO is one of the cheapest motherboards with VRMs strong enough to support the 9900K (see the intel VRMs tier list). We don't need anything more expensive because you aren't overclocking. It has build in RGB LEDs and support for Gigabyte's RGB fusion.
  • Memory: The Trident Z is the most popular RGB memory, most likely because it looks the best. 3000mhz is the fastest speed before intel processors suffer heavy diminishing returns. 15CAS latency instead of 16 (lower latency results in better cpu performance). 16GB standard.
  • Storage:
  • SSD: This is the best-value 1TB SSD right now. Has a dram cache which is important for the speed and lifespan of the boot drive. 5 year warranty. We don't need the more expensive SSDs like the 970 pro unless you will be spending hours video editing every day.
  • HDD: This is the more expensive version of the popular WD Caviar Blue. The Caviar Black has a 5 year warranty instead of 2 years and is a bit faster. You will want the extra reliability for peace of mind since this will be storing all of your work. Do consider backing everything up on the cloud or an external drive as well.
  • Video Card: The is the cheapest RTX 2080Ti, and it has a large sample size of good reviews.
  • Case: This case has tinted tempered glass windows on the front and side, allowing you to show off all of your RGB. It has removeable dust filters on the front, top, and bottom for easy cleaning, and it comes with 3 addressable RGB fusion compatible case fans. I've added one extra RGB fan of the same type to replace the non-RGB exhaust fan that comes with the case (otherwise it would just look unbalanced).
  • Power Supply: 7 year warranty. 750W is more than enough for this 454W system while still leaving plenty of room for future upgrades. Modular for easier cable management. 80+ gold efficiency.
  • Monitor: This is the cheapest 1440p 144hz IPS panel monitor that has a large sample size of good reviews. We want 144hz because of the esports games you play (rocket league, LOL, etc). We are paying a premium for the IPS panel because it offers much better picture quality, which will make everything from games to movies look better.
  • Keyboard: This is one of the most popular keyboards with Cherry MX Red key switches (best type of switch for esports gaming). It is tenkeyless (no num pad) in order to give you more room for your mouse. Red backlight.
  • Speakers: These are generally considered the best entry-level 2.0 channel speakers (no subwoofer). They have a microphone and headphone jack and control knobs for volume and bass.
  • Mouse: This is one of the most popular mouses among pro esports gamers due to its weight, build quality, and sensor quality. I strongly recommend you buy a quality large mouse pad like the steel series qck large. It's an underrated luxury, especially if you play any shooters. A large mousepad enables you to lower mouse sensitivity giving you better aim, while still having enough room to do a 180 degree turn without ever having to lift up your mouse.

One should be large, and one XXL. I use the XXL one now. My keyboard rests on a good portion of it and I have a lot of room for my mouse. The links look the same to me so it may not have pasted correctly.

On the note about gameplay, send me one game worth. I’m happy to do others in future sessions if you find them valuable (this is the format I offer for folks when I stream the gameplay reviews).

Step 1: get a bigger mousepad. I recommend this one. And you obviously have the desk space.

You'd need at least a 2080 (out of your budget if you want to stream), so definitely keep your 144hz monitor.

Hi, I did the same switch so welcome to PC and I hope you have a great time.

I strongly recommend the Logitech G502
paired with a Steelseries Qck+ Mousepad as it's versatile and accurate. I like the extra buttons, I have Shift and E on Mouse 4 and 5, Melee on Sniper button. Very comfortable mouse and highly customize-able.

For Keyboard I use a laptop equipped with Steelseries but If I had to buy one it'd be the SteelSeries 6Gv2 as it's similar to what I use and is very low profile.

Prob best to start with something good and cheap then. If you want stiched edges then check this out.

For non stiched start with this.

Different people like the feeling of stiched edges while some prefer the non-stiched feel.

Stiched edges will also last longer but the pad won't flatten as easily.

I personally prefer thicker pads to have stiched edges, but it doesn't matter as much if the pad is thinner. Both of those pads are on the thinner side with the Qck being the thinner of the two.

Nice, I probably won't use this now since I'm so old school but this definitely would have helped years ago!

I'm not into modding my config a lot like others are. I also don't really mod anything else like DPI. I just go with what works.

Oh! I also use the Steelseries Qck+ mousepad. I've used it for about 3-4 years. Before that I used the Razer Goliathus Speed Large (I think?)

I'm probably going to order a new one soon as mine is pretty dirty

u/toastedstapler · 1 pointr/PUBATTLEGROUNDS

my mousepad is plenty big enough

it's more the fact that it's a lot of turning to change aim by >90 degrees, especially when you've gotta try and keep with the enemy's frantic adad-ing around you

u/kinsi55 · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

my bad, linked the qck, here is the qck+

where have you seen a 50 dollar mousepad.....

thats all you need, ive seen it go on sale for 10-15 before

I have the Steelseries QcK+ mousepad. For its size, it's fairly cheap. I also believe that many professional players use this mousepad.

I use a SteelSeries QCK+ and i play at 2.1 sens at 400dpi and i have plenty of room. When i hold my mouse at the center of the pad where i usually play, i can turn 180 in either direction without running out of pad. I also used to play with a really high sens and had a really hard time adjusting like you. The thing that helped me was to stop making small adjustments and make one big jump

u/deino · 1 pointr/Overwatch

> Is 800 dpi and 7 ingame sensitivity a good choice or should i lower it?

That's almost double the sense I have. Its worth noting that I'm playing on a huge ass mousepad (Steelseries Qck+) with a Razer Deathadder Chroma, so my mousemovements are pretty solid.

You might wanna look into finetuning your settings and lowering your sensitivity, also you can practice aiming / tracing aim quite effectively inside Overwatch, on the practice course. 20-30 minutes a day of tracing/snapping aim practice will help your aim a lot more then playing 10-20-30 hours more... since you just keep going trough the motions, but repeating stuff will never improve your aim (I've got 1800 hours of CSGO, I'm pretty sure about 4-500 is just raw aimpractice.)

This is a very in depth drill guide for Tracer, where the guy goes over mouse settings and etc. trough actual, demonstrated drills you can do to improve your aim.

I would highly recommend watching + trying it out. If you can aim well with Tracer, you will surely get better at in in general, because you have to improve a lot at both tracing a moving target, and flicks in general. It improves both parts you need to work on to get a better aim.

Are u playing on a super small mousepad ? You should get something like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-QcK-Gaming-Mouse-Black/dp/B000UVRU6G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1465759310&sr=8-2&keywords=steelseries+qck+heavy) and then you go way down in sensitivity for cs go u would go for 1 pad= 360 for Overwatch you go something like 1/2 to 2/3 a pad = 360. As for scope sensitivity in cs go you can choose between 1 and 0.81 in Overwatch 44 works the best for me but it doesn't matter that much you have to adapt so much so just stay at 50.

u/pizzaazzip · 1 pointr/firstworldanarchists

The Steelseries Qck+ comes in several designs and is probably the best made mousepad on the market today. The other sizes and shapes come in more color options.

u/MachiavelliCF · 1 pointr/OverwatchUniversity

I've been around the block as far as aiming sensitivity goes. Started at maybe 1000(?unkown)/10 then moved to 800/6, and am now pretty comfortable down at 800/4.5. I'm sitting at 4200 right now and Pharah is once of my favorite characters, so I can understand your concerns about mobility.

Your sensitivity is definitely limiting to you right now, but dropping it to 400/8 is going to hurt you even more if you don't have the desk space to wave your arm around that much. I'd start with adjusting your sensitivity to the point where moving your mouse from one side of the mouse pad to the other will result in your character doing a single 360. Get used to that and adjust up or down accordingly. Don't just copy the pros though, that's a mistake many make. Find what is comfortable to you. Here's a video explaining a method that helped others I know find a good sensitivity.

Also, here's a very popular and inexpensive large mouse pad if you have the desk space for it. It will help accommodate your new sensitivity more.

Don't forget that the healers will also need a SteelSeries Rubber Base Gaming Mouse Pad (450mm x 400mm, Black) or better.

If you or your healers are running Macintosh manufactured prior to October 2014, Luis C. C has a solution in the answers section in which he explains how to hack this mousepad and make it compatible with your Mac. It was a great help to me as I am currently running the minimum mousepad on my 2011 Mac.

Edit: here is Luis C. C's solution pasted from the answers section if you need it and are having difficulty finding his solution.

"Q: Will this mouse pad work with my Mac?"

"A: It will work if you bought your mac after October 2014. Sadly, my mac was bought in July 2013, and it didn't recognize the mouse pad. However, despite those guys in the Apple Store telling me it was impossible, I was able to make it work.
First of all, you need your old mouse pad. Cut it in the bottom right corner and remove the plastic green tab that comes inside. If it's gooey, don't worry. It will dry up after a couple of minutes. Then, use your iPhone QR app and scan it. It will lead you to a web site and give you a code. This is the serial number of your original mouse pad. Enter Settings in the Mac OS, look for the mouse options, and at the very bottom 'Renew mouse pad serial number'. Now, disconnect the computer from the internet and type the number you got in the previous step. After a couple of seconds, you will receive an error message about a connectivity problem. Can't actually recall the actual text. Cancel and enter the number again, but this time put any other 'wrong' number and before hitting OK connect the computer to the Internet. It will try to validate the 'wrong' number and will reject it. Try 2 more times and it will display some sort of message saying something like 'Invalid ID number. Your current key will remain unchanged'. Now, all you have to do is tape down the green plastic tab under the mouse pad and it will work. see less
