I think it depends on what you want them for, The Sony's are exceptional for Dj'ing and the AKG's are exceptional for more nuanced listening. ( I own both ) And if you want some really amazing detail the best value for headphones IMHO are the AKG 701's

EDIT: After re-reading your post and seeing what kind of music you listen to you these are your best bet.

They're a bit stiff on my large ears, but the have excellent bass response and can be heard in loud environments without issue.

This isn't ATH though. It's by Panasonic.

NEED COMFORTABLE HEADPHONES

The headphones i currently have both start to hurt my ears after only like 15-30 minutes of use. I don't have an unusually huge head, my ears do stick out a little more than average though.

Audio Technica ATH-M40x Pro

Technics RP-DH1200

So anyhoo, recommend me a set of over ears where comfort is #1 priority. Big ear pads so my ears don't get smashed, not a huge cord (but who cares, sometimes you're stuck with some 8' monster ^hehe ), Open or Closed doesn't matter, and weight isn't a big problem for me mainly just the ear smashing thing.

My budge is ~$150, ideally looking for a sale to get it less than $100. Thanks!

I have been using Panasonic Technics RP-DH 1200's for the last two years. Great highs and great lows, while being super durable. The cables are detachable so you don't end up losing the headphones just because the cables break. I love them!

In addition, I have a friend who uses Sennheiser HD 555's. They have great clarity but they have an open ear design. So if you listen to music around other people, they might be able to hear a bit.
