Thanks for the feedback/tips! Sock/scarf/beanie are usually how I pack it, but yea like you said, the bumps are a bit much. I ended up ordering this one which will be good for other daytrip needs as well - it's not the most discreet, but it hangs on the front/side so I can have my pack on and hand over it (better to me than a backpack that someone can come up from behind and pull). We'll see how it works out!
