I have low porosity hair type 4 hair which is very sensitive to protein. So I look for humectant products (like honey, glycerin, and aloe) which do not contain additional proteins. I've never put raw honey in my hair but Camille Rose's Honey hydrate leave-in works for me after using her coconut water deep conditioner. Whenever I apply the products I make sure that my hair is still soaking wet as that is the only way to prevent tangling for me. My hair tangles within minutes of stepping out of the shower. At this point, I don't even try detangling my hair until it is soaking wet and then I use a wide tooth comb.

I use a mister-style spray bottle to spray my hair with water once I'm out of the shower and my leave-in conditioner is in and comb my hair in twists. I apply one of the Camille Rose moisture butter before twisting. My hair may now take a day to actually dry but since it's in twists it won't tangle and the style stays. By day 3, my hair is usually dry enough for a twist out. I also spray it with the Jamaican black castor oil leave-in in conditioner spray and water to keep my twists moisturized.

Also, the order of your products matter. Always use humectants first since the draw water into your hair. Use oils and creams to seal moisture in.

I've heard other type 4s swear by the TGIN line.
