I've not read Marx, but I have studied politics in some depth. I'd point you in the direction of Bernstein;

Who pointed out that Marx's predictions proved almost totally incorrect and how Capitalism had actually become more complex and differentiated; The ownership of wealth has widened with the introduction of stocks and shares, and the middle class has grown out of salaried employees, government officials and professional workers.
