it's the best bio I ever read. The Stalin one is also great, I made a point of reading the bios of all the leaders involved in WWII. It's funny to see how Hitler percieved the English or Churchill the Russian.

There isn't much to debate on this, although knowing the history of Molotov makes it quite a bit more ridiculous that our Governor hasn't a clue about a word that is less than 100 years old and has significance not only as a weapon of war, but also one that is significant as a name that was a politically charged manifest of government overreach. The irony is thick with this.

I thought it fun to spread the info on Molotov. I finished Shirer's book on Nazi Germany and I am currently on Manchester's third book on Winston S. Churchill where they cover the political ramifications of WW2 that has many valuable insights that the Governor could learn from. Everyone will shy away from Hitler references, but they shouldn't. If the shoe fits, it should be worn. Our dumb governor has many common traits with Hitler, but that isn't specific to Hitler as it is specific to many power hungry politicians.

I read it in The Last Lion, a three volume biography by William Manchester. Best Churchill biography out there.

If you want to learn about what it means for sticking to your guns and staying true to what you know is right even when everyone around you is against you, Churchill faced it with consequences none of us can really comprehend. Much like Roosevelt, he did more in 10 years of his life than you will probably do in 80. He influenced politics, technology, world affairs, and was a head of his time on nearly every major issue. He saw the cold war happening before anyone else did. He saw the threat of Hitler before anyone else did (Thats right, USA wasn't always so happy to go killing Nazi's as Inglorious Bastards would have you believe). He recognized the value of tanks in warfare when generals were debating calvary charges. He lead command of troops during battle when he was sent as a journalist. He flew planes at great risk to himself because fuck you he's a man and will do what he wants. He lived to 90 despite smoking, drinking, never exercising, and eating whatever he felt like.

He is responsible for some of the classic insults of all time. Like this great exchange:
Nancy Astor: “Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.”
Churchill: “If I were your husband I would take it.”

I haven't cracked them yet, but there are a few multi-volume biographies that get high marks (and since you say "the bigger the better..." :))
