Off the top of my head, I think older builders / adults would enjoy the following two:
It all depends on where your interests are. I own a decent-sized library of LEGO books (even a lot of the kid's books) that range from the company itself to coffee table-style art books.
For magazines, I really recommend BrickJournal.
