>I've been grovelling and showing warmth, but she just avoids me and is cold.

This makes me think of the dynamics discussed in The Passion Trap, i.e., the harder you try to win her over, the more she will feel repulsed.

Seriously man, read The Passion Trap by Dean C Delis. (You can even download the kindle version and read it on your computer like an ebook, or even just download the kindle sample to check it out)

It honestly is a great book. He talks about the dynamic you are talking about, but goes into a lot of detail as to why it always ends up like that. It will seriously change your understanding of relationship dynamics.

Ah ok so again I'm not sure exactly what's going on in the relationship, but there's a book that might be relevant. You can actually read the first chapter online for free, and that alone might help. Go here: https://www.amazon.com/Passion-Trap-Right-Unbalanced-Relationship/dp/1587361086

Then notice the little "look inside" thing above the book image. Click on that and read the first part of the book for free.

I wish I found this book when I was younger, because it would have helped me understand a lot about why some of my relationships weren't working. That being said, it could be other things, this theory doesn't totally account for insecurity and the ways it can manifest in a relationship (it gets into that later in the book though).

Anyways don't take the idea too strongly, but it is a valuable idea to contemplate if feel an imbalance in a relationship.

In the end though, a relationship is much more complex than any book or idea can ever really address. The thing is that all of your neurosis and insecurities come out in a relationship, most relationship problems are an individual's problems that are showing themselves in a relationship. Relationships are sure to bring up a lot! They are constant work.

Check it out! There is loads of advice in there. I really don't get anything out of sharing this. It helped me get insight into relationship dynamics that were playing out in my relationship and I really recommend it if you see the same thing happening to you.
