First, please take the time to educate yourself as much as you can. This book is a good introduction to most of the relevant arguments. It won't help you as an activist per se, but the more prepared you are for the arguments that you'll inevitably be a part of the better. If you're interested in understanding why some queer people and activists aren't terribly interested in marriage equality, pick up this one.
