I have not read that book, but if you are looking for a more academic take(as compared to Gun, germs and steel) on why the west is the best, look up he Uniqueness of Western Civilization by Ricardo Duchesne

Here are links to ratemyprofessors.com reviews for some academics on the dissident right. Please add anyone I've overlooked.

Western civilization the most advanced civilization in terms of human rights, political freedom, education and technology there has ever been. Hating Western Civilization is akin to hating civilization itself.

There are tons of good books written on the topic yet they put forward different answers. I suggest you crack a book if you're interested in exploring the theories because I have no interest in summarizing complex books for you.
