The Dark Horse ones are a mix of original content and adaptions. The Fox Childen being an adaption from one of the chapters in the books. The original Polish ones, that to my knowledge have no English translated editions, are based off the books as well, or I think the first book Sapkowski published. As for them being good, from what I've seen they are pretty good. I haven't read them, I've been waiting to see if they will put out a collected edition for the Dark Horse series. But the art is great and I've heard good things about the stories.
Edit: Apparently there is a collected edition coming out.
Here's The Witcher Library Edition Volume 1 on Amazon. I recommend going to a bookstore for the other books though, to be sure you can get them all matching. If you are into that anyways. If not, they have this set and you'll also have to get Season of Storms if you want them all.
