Do not approach strangers and try to "improvise" with them.

Yes, Improv is best done with other people. So while the books can give you some good ideas, I think eventually you have to put those ideas into practice to see how they feel.

I've read all of those books, and they all give slightly different takes on the approach to the art. None of them are wrong or better, all are useful, it's just something to be aware of when putting the ideas into practice. You may discover one works better for you, or some amalgam works as well.

As for putting things into practice: If you are truly far away from any theater or classes, then it's okay to find people in your community who want to experiment with the exercises. Like, don't call yourself a teacher, just call yourself an organizer. Create a Meetup or put up posters in the local rec center. That said, I am certain someone near you offers an acting class.
