I like Faith Unraveled, Rachel Held Evans' story of faith falling apart and then regrowing in a very different form, less assertive yet mor resilient, less brittle. Really, I like everything RHE writes, including her latest, Inspired.
I have mixed feelings about The Liturgists but they certainly represent people determined to seek the sacred in Christianity and elsewhere despite all the problems you cite.
Finally, have you tried looking at more mystical approaches to Christianity? Richard Rohr comes to mind, for instance in Things Hidden.
