Not a student -- working electronics engineer here. So, take my suggestions with a grain of salt -- you explicitly say you are not targeting me, and that's fine. That being said, here's what I would love to see in these notebooks.

You need the TOPS 22-157 Computation Book. Trust me, this is the best wire-bound fountain-pen-friendly write-both-sides sturdy-covered grid-ruled notepad. I'm seriously picky about these and have tried many.

Ampad once sold a similar book but since they moved manufacturing to Mexico their product has gone from superior to inferior while the price is only barely less.
90 and 80 grams are a measure of GSM - Grams per Square Meter. 90 gram paper is heavier, so you will find it thicker. You can get perfectly good 80 gram paper but in general you are more likely to be happy with the heavier when writing in wet ink.
TOPS Computation Book. It's sturdy, uses thick, quality paper, and is very expensive.
