Reddit mentions of Treasures of Tutankhamun

Me, too, and I still am. In 1977 my art teacher shared with us the most common book about his tomb, The Treasures of Tutankhamun, and I was enchanted. That was the year a bunch of the treasures toured, but the closest museum was too far away and my parents didn't have the money for us to go. In 2006 some other items toured, and I did get to see that.

I own a boatload of books and collect Egyptian themed items, but I am very choosy. My best item is a prop throne from the old movie the Ten Commandments. It's heavy, beautifully made, and nearly identical to the Tutankhamun throne found in the tomb. The hieroglyphics and the front and back are even all the same.

I went to Egypt in 1996 and am so sad that the political situation may insure I never get to go back.
