I'd suggest stay away from the crappy consumer level stuff that's mainly there to push you into a 'cloud storage' subscription you'll be paying for until the end of time.

Get yourself a nice locally recording system. It'll keep more video available and save money in the long run.

$190 Cloud Key Gen2+
$189 UniFi Switch 8-port 150W PoE
$314 UVC-G3-Flex camera 4-pack

With that Cloud Key (recorder device) and switch (8 ports- one for router, one for cloud key, 6 for cameras) you can have up to 6 cameras going for under $700 upfront and zero monthly cost.

In comparison, Nest outdoor cams are $300 for two of them, plus $5+/camera/mo for recording. So with Nest you'll pay $600 for 4 cameras, plus $20/mo until the end of time (and that's only for 5 days of recording time). That makes your total year-one cost $840 for Nest, with another $240/year ever after.

Also if you have metered Internet (like Comcast) those Nest cams will be constantly using some of it to upload video...
