3 of my 4 joy cons were drifting and I tried everything to fix them to no avail. I was nervous to replace the part myself because I don’t have any experience taking apart electronics, but there are some great YouTube videos that explain how to do it and it turns out it’s super easy!

FYI if you don’t want to deal w/ sending it in and waiting while they fix it and shit, replacing it yourself is pretty darn easy. Just did it a while ago - can buy a kit on amazon ~$15 and works like new.

I've only had it for a couple months, but it's been working fine so far. I watched this video to learn how to replace it.

I just did this for both my left joycons, and suspect the right joycons are coming in the near future. I bought this kit for one of the joycons, which comes with all the tools you need to do this (I think the screwdrivers are a bit cheap, try to avoid mixing up which one you need because you'll wear them down as you spin trying to figure out why it's not working), and I bought these for the remaining joysticks I need.

I just did it, so I can't promise they won't die in a month, but they're working. And it's definitely not a 5-star review from me as you can see, but the kit works. Don't forget to run them through calibration on the Switch.

If you are at all technical, including in being a general handyperson, it's not that hard. It is, however, unreasonably hard to expect your customer base to do on a routine yearly basis.

But, remember, at the point where they're drifting and they're out of warrantee, they're basically useless (or will be soon). It's a fine project to do as your first electronics project, because the worst case scenario is that you'll go from a useless joycon to a useless joycon... no risk!

I had a messed up analog and I bought a cheap analog on Amazon and replaced it and it works great.

It's a bit tricky of a replacement though, I wouldn't suggest it unless you are a little bit tech savvy.

It was fairly easy to do. Just take things slow and gentle and go one piece at a time.

How do the replacement joycon analog sticks from amazon feel compared to the originals? Do they feel noticeably cheaper is what I'm wondering.

Are there any recommendations on which one I should buy from amazon? i was just gonna pick the one with the most reviews (this one)
Dunno if there's really a difference among the different sellers.

The kit I got came with them. The ribbon cables also clip in, you don't need to slide them in and then clip it. That will make more sense when you see it. For these particular drivers I really didn't care what I got because this is the only application I ever see needing them for. If I was to replace it again, I would get another set with the order regardless. $11 and about an hour total of my time. The joycon has worked perfectly for months now.

I’ve replaced the left joycon stick for each pair I have, and need to do the right one of my neons. I bought these and find they’re springier and have a much more solid “click” than the originals on a L3/R3 press.

First swap took me an hour, the second was 28 mins. They're delicate, but they're not hard to do.

But everything else I bought from aliexpress because I was willing to wait 2 weeks to have the replacement parts in the future.. I bought all new replacement ribbon cables for each trigger and I also have 4 analogs on backup just encase

It's not terribly difficult to replace the thumb sticks, and that kit comes with all hardware.

Beats buying another pair of JoyCons.
