I rather pay 3$ more for brown switches and back light https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MS8YTYX/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here's one for $30. A quick Amazon search reveals many more. Maybe you were thinking of the overpriced razer, corsair, etc keyboards people buy.

I use this one at work and I love it. Its really quiet for being a mechanical keyboard. Brown clone switches. I use a Mechanical-Keyboards Disco (Browns) at home and the Velocifire is definitely quieter. All of the keys work great, and they also make it in wireless and fullsize. Been using it for about a year now and its a dream for the money. I actually replaced my Rosewill MK with this one.

whats the difference between OP and this?

is one necessarily better than the other? i know the amazon link is tenkeyless, but anything else?

u/Dweather_ · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Sure! One board that I found when I first started digging into this hobby was Velocifire's TKL01, which let me know how brown switches felt. There's also the RedDragon Kumara which I see around a lot from people that want to try the hobby before they really deeply invest. There's also the Magicforce 68 which is one of the most recommended budget boards around here, especially for people that want to flirt with smaller layouts than TKL or full size.

u/destroyerco · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

Better deal (IMO) $29.99 Link

Cherry MX Brown Equivalent, less noisy (try to stream using the blues.. so noisy) and backlight.

u/3io4ehg · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I own this keyboard which is also $30 while being 87-key and find it great. It’s my first mechanical keyboard and I’m amazed at how nice the typing experience is.

u/clee290 · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

The usual recommendation for your budget would be the Magicforce 68, but I'm not sure if you want to go that small or if you like the look of it. For a full-size keyboard, maybe the Velocifire VM01 or you can go a bit smaller with the Velocifire TKL01.

u/noroadsleft · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Doubt you're going be able to fit both a keyboard and mouse in that budget unless you're willing to skimp on one or the other.

The Velocifire TKL01 is the cheapest backlit keyboard I know of at $30, but the word is the switches are terrible. The EagleTec KG010 is $40 and the switches should be okay. For $42 you could get a Plugable 87 which would be my choice at this budget (and tenkeyless is better than fullsize anyway).

You could skimp on the mouse (which is much easier to do anyway) which means being able to afford a better mechanical keyboard.

u/Mr_Mop · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Not all mechanical keyboards are super expensive. For example, this one is only $30

I actually use this exact keyboard at work, because they would buy me a keyboard that's $40 or less haha, and I actually like it as far as mechanical keyboards go :D. Though mine isn't TKL

u/hilaryzwank · 2 pointsr/buildapc

This is the keyboard I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS8YTYX/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's a budget-oriented mechanical keyboard. I'm completely satisfied with it, but it's the only "gaming" keyboard I've ever owned so I can't compare it to anything...

u/woodkeys_click · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

The cheap Velocifire boards on Amazon have Zorro browns, a little inconsistent force and less bump than Gateron browns. They are not bad at all if you don't mind the turquoise green backlight. I have one of the TKL boards $30 on Amazon for my second computer, and just picked up another on a lightning deal for $25!

u/ashberic · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I bought this cheap-o mechanical keyboard and it's been okay. Listed as white LED but it's definitely blue. They make a full keyboard over the ten-keyless for a bit more if you want a full size keyboard.

I'm sure there are better recommendations for the $50 mark but figure I throw that out there.

u/XxUrielxX · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I got this back in November for $26.88 and it's got off brand cherry mx browns.

I finally made the switch ^^^^heh and picked up the Velocifire (TKL, knockoff brown) to replace my old Logitech K200 this weekend. I've only been using it for a few days, but I'm wondering if what I'm experiencing is normal.

First thing I noticed was it hurts like hell to type on this. Specifically my wrists and fingers (from their base to the first joint) have gotten really bad in less than 72 hours.

Second thing was that I actually haven't used a regular (profile?) keyboard in the past five years. I'm thinking these two might be related because of just how tall this KB is.

I've tried raising my seat height, doing stretches, and floating my wrists; but I figured you guys might know what's going on.

u/hopelessly_positive · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

This is a pretty typical sale price for this KB.

If you prefer a smaller footprint, the TKL version is a little cheaper at its normal price of $30.

u/mithikx · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Probably a MagicForce 68 (sold under Qisan on Amazon) or one of the DREVO brand keyboards (your choice of which one takes your fancy). Both brands have models in both black and white and ship with Prime shipping off of Amazon.
The MagicForce 68 is probably the most popular recommendation for an entry level MK.

In another thread someone linked to https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS8YTYX. Not Cherry MX, but a clone of that - I personally would try them.

For the real deal 70€ is realistic, let's see... https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823816015 is a bit less (but also without numpad). If you want to dive in, there is https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/

u/pb00 · 2 pointsr/headphones

Magni 2 Uber basically replaced by Magni 3 btw. Also, Hifiman HE400i somewhat superceded by Massdrop's HE-4XX which I think have a more comfortable looking headband (i have the HE400i and dont like the headband). iDSD Micro BL is awesome btw in case u havent heard it yet. Also if u want a TKL brown switch keyboard may i recommend considering Velocifire TKL01 from Amazon if you are interested in a cheap alternative, its what I use at work. https://smile.amazon.com/Mechanical-Velocifire-TKL01-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01MS8YTYX/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510768682&sr=8-1&keywords=velocifire+tkl

Can always try e-bay. Or bite the bullet and go for a different switch. Hard to find red switches for under $50 (but if you've got another $10 to spend, you can find them easily). I bought this bad boy for $26 on Amazon. It's got Outemu browns and it feels amazing. Really loving this keyboard. I have a Magicforce 68 for work ($40) as well and that also is a very capable keyboard.

Only one I can think up off the top of my head. Only comes in Outemu Browns though. That and it uses a dongle, no BT.

Don't pull trigger right away though, someone may have something better.

I dunno if there is any wireless TKLs less than 30 US, but the wired form of this board is 10 less, but it seems out of stock and I can't access the link to it (Also brown only). If you really wanted blues, Redragon K552 uses Outemu blues only, although I don't personally like the bumped up logo and it is wired:

My idea was to future proof everything except the CPU. I'll eventually buy an i7 7700K (or comparable kaby lake CPU that will be under $100 hopefully) and overclock it maybe 2-3 years from now and add more RAM and maybe storage

Looking for a cheap brown-switch keyboard that is black (and prefferably 87 keys) , any help is welcomed. Was going to get this: https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Tenkeyless-Velocifire-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01MS8YTYX/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1505689897&sr=1-8&keywords=cherry+mx+brown but it doesnt have raisable feet

u/ContemplativeOctopus · 1 pointr/SSBM

Here's all of the decent cheap ones I have saved on amazon. Only problem is that I think they're all cherry blue (replica) switches, so they're all pretty loud. Also, these are all tenkeyless because no one needs number pads unless they do data entry, and they take up a lot of space. I've had the tomoko keyboard on this list for about 2 years now and it's still in perfect condition.

u/CheeseRat12 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

This has brown, tactile switches and backlighting.

u/Bag0fSwag · 1 pointr/buildapc

I really like the simplicity of yours! I got this guy for $22 on r/buildapcsales awhile back that is somewhat similar. Do the red switches feel pretty nice for $39?

u/tnegaeR · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

This may be a stupid question, and I'll admit I didn't research the topic too extensively, but is putting new key caps on a keyboard as simple as buying ones you like and switching them out?

Do different key sizes exist? Or are they more or less universal?

I own this keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS8YTYX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yE3bzbT8KRV79

And am thinking about buying replacement keys from pheilcia.

u/biteypotato · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Can anyone tell if these keycaps will fit on a Velocifire TKL01?

u/dlsso · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Gaming keyboards are generally low quality. In that price range this is probably your best bet. It's got doubleshot keycaps so the letters can't rub off, and the build quality is probably a little better as well. https://www.amazon.com/Velocifire-TKL01-Mechanical-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01MS8YTYX

u/AllisonBW · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I have a decision to make about repairing or replacing a keyboard. My brown-switch Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid's y key has become completely unresponsive, and trying to clean the switch stem with compressed air hasn't fixed the problem at all, nor has the usual stuff like unplugging and re-plugging the keyboard. It's closer to three years old than two years old at this point, so it's past warranty. And apparently on the Quickfire Rapid, even something like opening up the switch housing to deep clean it requires desoldering it.

I've got a PC repair shop in town that can replace a switch for starting at $25 (he quoted $25-$50, with the upper end being in case of Surprise). It's a nice keyboard and that'd be like 1/3 the cost of replacing it with the same model, and the price point is low enough to excuse not just buying tools and new switches and trying to do the soldering work myself. So I'm seriously considering taking it in for repair. Alternately, however, I could apparently buy a cheap off-brand keyboard with knockoff browns for a very similar price point, and that would spare me the risk of the repair cost running high, as well as spare me the other maintenance I really need to get around to like doing a proper cleaning and probably lubing the stabilizers (bonus upside: the cheap knockoff I'm looking at has Cherry-style stabilizers instead of those PITA Filco ones). On the downside, being a knockoff, apparently there are uncommon cases where people have had issues with keys becoming unresponsive, but I've learned the hard way that buying on-brand doesn't completely prevent that either.

Any advice on whether it's better to repair a pushing three-year-old Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid, or to start over with a new off-brand, if the cost of both is very similar and cheap enough that buying soldering tools/supplies and replacement switches to DIY probably wouldn't be cheaper?

Need help:

Redragon K552 vs Velocifire TKL01

I just want a decent cheap mech keyboard for mostly gaming but good typing would be nice as well. Redragon costs a bit more so I'm leaning towards the Velocifire one. Is there anything I'm missing?

u/NadeemDoesGaming · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Here is a pretty cheap keyboard that meets all your criteria:

https://www.amazon.com/Velocifire-Tenkeyless-Mechanical-Keyboard-Switches/dp/B01MS8YTYX/ref=pd_cp_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01MS8YTYX&pd_rd_r=RV3MB4DK578JRYHJWEH2&pd_rd_w=94aiB&pd_rd_wg=ujypr&psc=1&refRID=RV3MB4DK578JRYHJWEH2

As an owner of this board, I'll say this board is pretty awesome, but takes about a week or two to get used to. Awesome for gaming and typing, but feel might resemble that of an mx red in terms of actuation. The sound and click is definitely still there but subtle like it should be on a brown switch. Coming from redragon kumara blue switch board, it took awhile to get used to, but the sound difference was enough alone to make me happy. (:

u/sk9592 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Another, much cheaper option, is one of the keyboards with Chinese switches instead of German.

Cheaper options like these:

https://www.amazon.com/Velocifire-Tenkeyless-Mechanical-Keyboard-Switches/dp/B01MS8YTYX/

They do not use genuine Cherry MX switches, but they feel very similar and cost a fraction of the real thing.

But a regular $10 logitech would be fine too - I use a regular amazon basics mouse and like it.

For a non-hardcore super gamer, most $100-$120 1080p monitors are fine, response time at or under 7ms I guess is important, I don't really know much about monitors, I grabbed one 'buildapcsales' said was good (become a fixture on that subreddit, you'll find sales on everything eventually, I gathered parts over a month using it)

As far as tutorials, I watched these, and found it to be pretty much spot on. My first one took about 4 hours until Steam was running, and I shaved about 45 minutes off the second one.

This PC should be able to handle what you want to do. I chose the 1600x over the non x because your not going to overclock. I also chose parts to go with a white theme.

Now for the peripherals, I chose a keyboard with outemu brown switches https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Velocifire-TKL01-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01MS8YTYX/ref=sr_1_10?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1511342698&sr=1-10&keywords=mechanical+keyboard&refinements=p_36%3A-5000

For the mouse I chose the logitech g203 which is a really good fps mouse.

Also if you order that cpu cooler, make sure to click on the am4 bracket bundle.

I don't know what qualifies as a "gaming" keyboard. Linux supports USB HID, so the base functionality should work on every USB keyboard. It would only be on-board programmable microcontrollers that could potentially need a driver.

I have a Cooler Master Storm tenkeyless which has apparently been succeeded by the "Masterkeys" model; about $80. I see this similar "Velocifier" model for about $26 but can't comment on quality, obviously.

The patent on Cherry switches expired and there are some clones now, so it's not out of the realm of possibility for a good mechanical keyboard to be fairly inexpensive.
