If you're looking on the budget end, these keyboards will all be on sale tomorrow:

Redragon K551 with Blues (Keep in mind this is the one with red backlighting. You can choose the one with no backlighting if you don’t want it. Rainbow one is a couple bucks over your budget but has set lights while the RGB one is roughly 5 bucks over your budget but has relatively programmable lighting):

https://www.amazon.com/Keyboard-Mechanical-Redragon-illuminated-ABS-Metal/dp/B016M91SS0?th=1&psc=1

Redragon K552 with Blues (The TKL version of the K551. This is the rainbow version with set colors for each switch as it’s under your budget. The RGB version is over your budget by 3 bucks. Same applies though, you can go for no lighting or just plain red for less):

https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01LZN7MLE?th=1&psc=1

Velocifire full-size with Blues (Just know that rainbow LEDs means you cannot change the color of the switches. It is not full RGB. It’s still pretty cheap if you want at least some multicolor things, but the colors you see are the colors you get. A bargain for 26 USD though, cheaper than the Redragon K551 rainbow version, although the color of the board is harder to work into a setup compared to the K551’s straight black):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01C8HMIES/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1523898681&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Velocifire&dpPl=1&dpID=51xyHHRfUTL&ref=plSrch

There is also a version of the VM30 with black switches and is also 25 USD. It seems out of stock right now. If you want to wait a bit on that, it’s the cheapest board I’m aware of that comes with black switches:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07BFGZ891/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1523899072&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=VM30+Black+switches&dpPl=1&dpID=51MCGebQeDL&ref=plSrch

Velocifire full size with Browns (If you’re looking at the wireless version, don’t. The wireless mode of it sucks according to everyone I’ve asked who got it. The only good thing of the wireless version is that you can run wired so that means you’re paying an extra 10 bucks for a removable cable option):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01M0QEYR4/?th=1&psc=1

Velocifire TKL with Browns (I linked the wireless version because it seems like the wired version is discontinued. If you can find it, the wired version has blue backlighting and an attached cable for 30 USD. The wireless has a crappy wireless mode, no backlighting as far as I’m aware, but a detachable cable for 40 USD)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B076D5WVYG/

If you’re looking for something like red switches because “gaming,” just know that is pure marketing bullshit. If you’re looking at reds because you actually want them. I’m aware that the Qisan Magicforce also comes in red, but I couldn’t find the 40 dollar option. That’s the only board I’m aware of that has reds in your budget range, but I’m sure someone who knows more can throw one out.

Velocifire VM-01, Drevo Gramr, Nixeus Moda for browns. If you have a bit more money, though, I would go for a board from cooler master. I have one (with browns) and it's functional as well as RGB backlit without looking too "gamery". Hope this helps!

So, here's a quick list of boards, from amazon. I went with them for a search on mechanical boards, and filtered by 4 stars +, and read some of the critical reviews and sort through the ones that seemed to be overwhelmingly positive, with no "i did this for a kickback" though they no longer allow that, those reviews still skew it. Next, I went with brands that, well I had heard of. I just so happened to have seen or read reviews on boards from these companies, and while they often get the board for free in these situations, I still have seen them in action, or seen critical reviews of a product from them before. So, would venture to say these are probably some of the more... okay brands, of these "cheap" brands. Now, I included mostly TKL boards, since they happen to be cheaper, and I also included a "wireless" and quite a few backlit ones. I know you said that didn't matter, but they were within budget at met the review requirements, and your other reqs, albeit at typically higher prices. Also, I tried not to include the scam of "mechanical feeling."

So, from here, I'll list them. And you should understand you can buy boards from Newegg, fry's, microcenter, target etc.... and you can try to find your own with these tips. I simply used Amazon because it offers free shipping on most items over $25 even without prime. As well, they tend to be... somewhat responsible for their sellers.

Again, some things to keep in mind; add tax to most, if not all of these. I tried to keep them as far under $40 as I could, but the ones with decent reviews don't seem to go as low. As well, please feel free to do your own research. Or, if you want we can try on your preferred shopping site. Seek other users advice, maybe one of the mechanical keyboard subs will offer better advice. You absolutely do not have to buy any of these, nor do I get anything if you do. Also, please copy and paste the names of the boards for a youtube search, many of these low end boards send them out for review for coverage. Also, you could try doing a search yourself, just to check, "Mechanical keyboards" into amazon or whatever, and sort by reviews, and price, and avoid "MECHANICAL FEEL" at all costs, as it is not truely mechanical. I hope I've helped at least somewhat, and again, you absolutely don't have to settle on a link I provided, consider waiting for a sale, or observing this sub for a bit. Most of those boards likely hover around their price or will go lower.

Good luck, and I hope I've helped even a little. Let me know if I can help more.

Edit: Also, there's no need to rush into a buy at all, assuming you don't need one ASAP. Shop around, watch for deals on one you're interested, or just watch for new things to enter your price range.

u/cassadyamore · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

If you live alone or with people that don't mind noise, you can try a Tomoko or MagicForce with blue switches. It's usually better to go with blue for cheap ones, because the sharp TICK they create usually covers up any scratchy or gritty feeling a quieter key might have.

No frills Tomoko for $35 that I've been typing on for half a year, works well so far. Can be very loud though.

Magicforce 68 is a compact budget board highly recommended by a lot of mech key fans. You can get a full-size with num-pad and Gateron switches for $70 or with Cherry for more.

Velocifire is a brand I know far less about, but they sell a full-size brown switch board with over 300 reviews that consist of mostly positive feedback. I have no idea what brand the switches on this one are, they make some other full-size boards with Kailh switches.

u/wazero · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

Ah, well I think for my first mech keyboard it should be decent. As far as i know, there was no release for a laptop with a swivel hinge in the past 3 years.

However i think you can try this setup:

Laptop Stand: 70Usd

Lenovo Flex 14 price: $600 (can game even with the integrated GPU)

Keyboard: Velocifire VM01 price: $44 (a quiet mechanical keyboard)

Mouse: Logitech G602 price: $36

Monitor: HP VH240: 110Usd

Total: 860Usd

The usual recommendation for your budget would be the Magicforce 68, but I'm not sure if you want to go that small or if you like the look of it. For a full-size keyboard, maybe the Velocifire VM01 or you can go a bit smaller with the Velocifire TKL01.

I bought several <$50 items:
This keyboard is a great deal for a back lighted mechanical one.

Also this any of these refurbished mouses, I specifically got one of the M65:

If things are running hot in the CPU, you could also get a Hyper Evo 212.

u/MollyPopGirl · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Got the keyboard for about $40 here. Keycaps are from Mechanical Keyboards here.

They feel a lot heavier than I'm used to. My main board at home is a CM Masterkeys Pro TKL with ABS (I think?) keycaps. These almost feel too light now, but the PBTs feel a little too heavy and coarse.

If you're looking for a cheap full, real mechanical board, the one I got for work is a solid option. Brown switches. Feels pretty great. Has a dim blue backlighting.

u/PikaBonk · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Next time, please refer to the sticky! Here's the link. You should be able to find the information you need there.

But for less than $50, you can't build a board with that unfortunately. However there are a few boards out there that are pretty cheap such as Velocifire, or something like Techware Phantom. I've only ever heard good things about both of those companies/boards.

u/Joe10112 · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Any suggestions for Brown Switch Keyboards that are sub-$50? Can be either TK or TKL. Obviously standard price can be higher, just hoping to see if anything goes on sale tomorrow for Cyber Monday to sub-$50...

The only Brown switch that I could find was the Velocifire VM01 (and it's not even discounted from its normal price of $36), but I'm not sure if it's a "good" keyboard or not. Read and watched some reviews which say it's okay and decent for its price, but I've yet to see anyone recommend this board here...

Most Mechanical Keyboards I see that are sub-$50 are Blue Switches...but I fear that Blue Switches might be too loud for dorm room settings, so I've gotta go with Browns.

u/wrathofcow · 2 pointsr/Diablo

Hey! Sounds like a really nice thing you're doing. Currently the Velocifire VM01 is on sale on Amazon for $40.

As far as mice are concerned, is there a particular brand of mouse that your husband has really enjoyed using in the past? I think we all have our preferences for style and shape. I think that if he is using a a Goodwill mouse then probably any quality mouse would be a huge upgrade. I'm a big fan of Logitech's and Corsair's high end gaming mice. Recently I've used the Logitech G500s and the Corsair M65 RGB Pro. Both are nice mice, but the G500s has been replaced by a newer model that frankly I find hideous. I've never spent more than $35 for a gaming mouse because I am very patient in waiting for deals to pop up. Right now the Razer Death Adder Chroma can be found at certain Target stores for around $30, which is quite the steal. Use the brick seek link below to see if you can snag one for a similar price.

http://brickseek.com/target-inventory-checker/?sku=207-28-1229

If you are lucky you should be able to snag both for $70 plus tax, which is well under your budget. Heck, you could even throw in a snazzy looking diablo mouse pad to really seal the deal.

Howdy guys! I've been stalking this page since I built my first PC in December and now I want to take up my next challenge and really dive into MKs. [Here is that all great board I started with from Amazon.] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0QEYR4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I really love it but I wanna join the club and perhaps build my own! I have been slowly doing research and checking out outlets here and there, nothing substantial.

Would you guys say building or trying to find find something close to what I am looking for would be better? I'm looking for a 75% set up, White case, black keys, RGB lighting, and brown switches if that's even a realistic build or much less find. My budget would be around $150 USD again if that's possible.

[I found this board that's seemingly nice] (https://www.amazon.com/LexonElec-Keyboard-AK33-Backlit-Mechanical/dp/B079M2YHBS/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1537055803&sr=8-9&keywords=75+keyboard) but its black/blue keys with no RGB. Let me know what you guys think.

u/TheShadowBlade92 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I actually own the Velocifire VM01 with knockoff Cherry MX Brown switches, and while I can't guarantee that it'll last as long as genuine Cherry switches, the typing experience has been rather satisfying. The only downside is the LEDs aren't very bright and are a (objectively) ugly teal color.

(3) Techware Phantom 87 - RGB:

(4) Qisan MagicForce 68 with Outemu Browns:

Hope this adds progress to your search.

Probably a MagicForce 68 (sold under Qisan on Amazon) or one of the DREVO brand keyboards (your choice of which one takes your fancy). Both brands have models in both black and white and ship with Prime shipping off of Amazon.
The MagicForce 68 is probably the most popular recommendation for an entry level MK.

I would go with a mechanical keyboard like this one

u/Saphro · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Thinking of picking up the Velocifire VM01 for work (I work with numbers so a full keyboard is required). Are there any glaring flaws about this one or other options I should go for in the price range (<$100)?

I currently use a MAX Nighthawk Custom with brown switches and enjoy it.

u/Mr_Soju · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Ok Cool. I picked up this one for work with brown switches just for fun. I need dat number pad.

Yea, I texted my buddy in the cube next to mine and I'm like, "I found a $34 mechanical keyboard on Amazon. Would it annoy you with 'loud" keys blasting next door to you all day? They are blue switches. You will hear every letter I type on Reddit."

He replied, "Nerd. Has to be super loud."

That's when I order the brown switches.

u/woodkeys_click · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

You're looking for the Velocifire for $39.99 on Amazon. I just picked up one of the TKL models and it's a decent board. It's certainly not a high-end custom, but it'll beat any other cheap non-mechanical board in that price range. You're not going to get RGB for that price, but it does have backlighting which few below $50 have. It has Zorro browns, which are Cherry MX clones, but they have even less of a bump than Gaterons.

u/JobEwanKenobi · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

This One

I literally got this keyboard this week. Has some of what you are asking. Brown switches, so tactile and some click, but not as loud as Blues. Was very impressed for 40 bucks.

u/currious181 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I asked for advice a while back & purchased the full size (w/10-key) backlight keyboard. It had blue switches. Its too loud for me, other than that, I liked the feel. I'm looking for the same thing, but with browns & in same price range. (I do not game- just have a desk job & type like a fiend)
Is this a good option for me? https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MQO8D3F/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1499871821&sr=8-11&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=full+keyboard+with+10+key+backlit+brown+keys

I bought a CODE one for work, but didn't want to spend as much on another one for home: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LV5P2N8/

I got back into mechanical keyboards over the last couple of years, after many years of using cheap shitty rubber dome ones. I'm never going back.

u/I_Wanna_Be_Numbuh_T · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Here's a nice, sub-$30 tenkeyless with Outemu blue (clicky) switches.

Here's a sub-$40 full size with Outemu brown (tactile, no click) switches. It has teal colored backlighting, but that should be easily disabled if you don't need it.

These should show how overpriced popular modern gaming mechs are when there's equal performance at over a hundred bucks less elsewhere.

EDIT: Here's a full size sub-$40 with blue switches and no backlight.

Agree completely but if you want a slightly larger keyboard for 5 bucks cheaper i recommend this

u/kurifatales · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

If not, cyber Monday is coming soon as well as Christmas. Magicforces are $35 already, if you can't afford that they may drop even lower.

Edit: or just get this the quality will be identical to your Razer

u/clupean · 1 pointr/buildapc

Standard backlit: $28

If you can make a little effort for a cheap mechanical: $40

u/holynub · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

For $50, you can probably find mechanical, numberpad, and back lit pretty easily. But ones with macro keys are a little rare. This Velcrofire is not bad at $40. Macro keys are harder to find outside bigger brands like Corsair, Logitech, and Razer because many smaller companies use OEM layouts that adhere to a 104 key setup. There are probably exceptions to this, but I haven't found any.

This would be one of the best deals for browns: https://www.amazon.com/Velocifire-Mechanical-Keyboard-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01M0QEYR4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1480806984&sr=8-3&keywords=brown+mechanical+keyboard Full sized tenkey keyboard with browns and generally positive reviews on both Amazon and YouTube

I'm looking for Russian-English keycaps, I'm learning Russian and I need to be able to type in Russian, my current keyboard is https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Doubleshot-Velocifire-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01M0QEYR4

I'm think this model is pretty common. It depends on the switches you want.

Check out this one. Got mine for like $30 I think. Very light blue backlight with options for different effects and brightness using hot keys. Great keyboard for the price.

What do you guys think of this cheaper board?

https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Doubleshot-Velocifire-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01M0QEYR4/ref=sr_1_3/145-0838380-3957206?ie=UTF8&qid=1504016692&sr=8-3&keywords=mechanical+keyboard+brown

Was interested in something simple, inexpensive, and brown. I'm a mech newbie and this will be my first Mech keyboard (minus the nice old ones I used growing up). Seems to have good reviews and I've read the Outemu switches are decent for the money?

u/xDragod · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I let my coworker try three keyboards because he wanted to try something different. I let him try Romer G, Cherry Brown, and a Velocifire with outemu Browns. After 3-4 days he came back and said he thought he preferred the Velocifire (Link) over the Logitech G Pro and the orion G610 Brown, which are 2.5x the price.

Suggestions when all I care about is 6KRO?

I don't dislike Rubber Domes, but losing key inputs from ghosting is awful. I've had a chance to try Cherry Blues and Cherry Blacks - Blacks I liked less than Rubber Dome; Blues were about equal but entirely too loud (I'm a streamer and I don't want loud keyboard noises picked up on the microphone). Desired specs:

  • 6KRO. NKRO would obviously be fine but shouldn't be necessary.
  • Full-sized keyboard (with large backspace and standard 2-row Ins-Home-PgUp) - I've heard tenkeyless is better ergonomically but I simply use the numpad too much.
  • The quieter the better, but doesn't need to be silent.
  • No macro keys on the sides; standard width. (Standard height is also preferable but less essential.)
  • Other bonuses are likely irrelevant to me: I don't care about lighting, fancy keycaps, or modability.
  • Either USB or PS/2 is fine, wired is fine (preferable?)

So - I'd be perfectly happy with a Rubber Dome keyboard that had 6KRO, but these are rare and tend to cost as much as decent switches anyway. I can afford up to ~$200, but considering I currently have a preference for Rubber Dome much of what increases a keyboard's price isn't something I'm interested in paying for.

Thus, I'm considering perhaps the Velocifire VM01, with off-brand Brown Switches and good ratings (I'd also get o-rings with it). I'd even consider e.g. a low-end Topre but am not convinced I'd find the extra cost worth it? Open to other suggestions as well.
u/Busted_D · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I think it's white only. You could paint it ;)

When I was shopping for a work board, I was looking for brown switches and trying to stay cheap. My choices came down to the Magicforce and this Velocifire. I already had Outemu browns on my first mech, and really wanted to try Gaterons after seeing everyone say they're appreciably smoother (they really are), so I went for the Magicforce. Options are a little more open in the cheaper boards if you like blue switches, but then that depends on your budget. There's a CoolerMaster on that list now with PBT keycaps, which might make it a really sweet deal if it's in your price range and you like the way it looks. I feel like I'm opening the wormhole now^please^stop^me^help

It might be easiest to start narrowing it down by switch type first, then aesthetics, staying in whatever your price range is.

The only one out of the above I can personally vouch for is the Tecware Phantom as that's the keyboard that's I'm currently using, but I think these are solid options for the price.

I've used Rosewill and Velocifire mechanicals for work. They run in the $40-100 price range and feel pretty good. The one I'm using right now at work is the Velocifire VM01 it's $40. The browns they use aren't cherry so they feel a bit different(not as stiff) - but it feels good.

The Rosewill felt the best though if you don't mind a red switch it's $80 - browns etc run upwards of $100. I suggest browns for typing (if you speed type) and clears/reds for gaming or if you're a heavy typer.

I like the Velocifier because of the backlighting. And it's really good backlighting with a nice soft aqua green glow and multiple effects. Really makes people ask questions at work LOL.

u/sircrovax · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I have a [Velocifire VM01] (https://www.amazon.com/Velocifire-Mechanical-Keyboard-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01M0QEYR4/ref=sr_1_1?s=prime-day-secondary&psr=PDAY&ie=UTF8&qid=1499795294&sr=1-1&keywords=mechanical+keyboard) (also on Prime day sale in the US) with OUTEMU browns and it's quite decent, however it is my first mech and I have no experience with higher quality switches, but it was quite the jump with respect to my previous keyboard.

I've been looking for a second smaller keyboard and the Magicforce 68 seems like a good deal, but it's also on Massdrop for $42 with different switches... so I'm not sure which one is best...

As an owner of this board, I'll say this board is pretty awesome, but takes about a week or two to get used to. Awesome for gaming and typing, but feel might resemble that of an mx red in terms of actuation. The sound and click is definitely still there but subtle like it should be on a brown switch. Coming from redragon kumara blue switch board, it took awhile to get used to, but the sound difference was enough alone to make me happy. (:

Amazon seems to have quite a few boards around the $50 mark with some decent reviews.

This one seems to stand out if you don't need the RGB:

u/KazeNoGotoku · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hey, sorry for the late reply,
first and formost, you can add a separate cooling system if you like, it'll add a bit more to your cost and it's not necessary imo, but it would make the build more silent prob.
Then, I forgot to add a keyboard! a good option would be something like this if you like brown switches

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0QEYR4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_m9ehAb4VV8KZY

or something like this if you like red switches

https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-STRAFE-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00ZUPOMDQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511838019&sr=1-3&keywords=mechanical+keyboard+red+switch

Lastly, if you want a good cheap monitor then this is a cheap good reliable option

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/BRvZxr/benq-monitor-9hle5lbqpa

my only issue with it is that it is a lot smaller than the omen I recommended, so you might want to chose something a bit more on the expensive side that is also good like this

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/PmyFf7/acer-monitor-umfg6aab01

or this

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FZJkcf/acer-xf240h-240-144hz-monitor-umfx0aa001

hope this helps! good luck on your build!

I second the Dell Optiplex.

Here's one for $150. It includes an i5 3550, 8GB of ram, a 500GB HDD, an optical drive, and Windows 10 Pro. A very good deal that will overcome the overpriced ram problem.

Here's a $90 1080p, 60Hz, IPS monitor.

Here's a $225 GTX 1050 Ti (MSRP: $140). All graphics cards above a GT 1030 are overpriced right now.

Here's a $95 Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SSD. You can clone the operating system on the HDD to it.

Here's a $27 blue switch mechanical keyboard. (or if you want a more silent keyboard get this $40 brown switch keyboard).

You may want to replace the power supply. Here's a good one for $50.

    • -
      Total: $637

I'm sorry, but you will have to forgo having a blue case with LEDs and a side-window if you wish to have a decent PC at or below your $700 budget. Good luck building!

ohhh then this or this or even this ^^

u/Alexdaboss · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I'm currently looking for a full-sized mechanical keyboard with brown (preferably cherry) switches and either blue or rgb lighting. After looking around for a while it seems that the corsair k70 rgb would probably be the best I could buy, however this is an expensive keyboard and I would like something cheaper if possible. Can anyone recommend a keyboard that meets my requirements for a more reasonable price?

Also, I found this keyboard while looking around on amazon, it offers knockoff brown switches and blue lighting for a fraction of the cost of other options.

https://www.amazon.com/Velocifire-Mechanical-Keyboard-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01M0QEYR4/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1484552878&sr=1-3&keywords=mechanical+keyboard+brown

The thing I'm worried about if the quality, I'd like to know what anyone thinks about this keyboard and if it's worth it.

Thanks.

Try a Xim or some other Keyboard and mouse adapter, more keys in reach and you don't have to choose between aim speed and precision. If you're gonna blow 150 bucks on something to get an advantage, you want it to be a real advantage. Hell, skip the $150 Xim and go with a $50 clone of it, a $40 mechanical keyboard, and a decent gaming mouse instead. Stop trying to work within the limits of consoles and just break them!
