Not to overly complicate things...but my modem IS my router. Weird, I know...but it's definitely all the same unit. Here she is.

The primary router is an Asus rt-n56u. The second router is an old verizon router: http://www.amazon.com/Verizon-Westell-Wireless-G-Broadband-Router/dp/B0039WFVLY The routers are connected by wire. The second router is also broadcasting a second wifi signal. I will move some of the pcs to the primary router and see if i can replicate the problem. Thanks for the tips.
