I bought a vitamin C serum on Prime Day and I really like it! My pores are looking smaller and my skin tone more even. Previously I was using the Mario Bedascu vitamin C and Juice Beauty antioxidant serum. Both of those were nice but I saw better results with the brand I bought on Amazon.

Here is the serum:

I have used and liked the LilyAna Naturals Vitamin C serum - I think it’s a great bargain for what it is:

I also really like the Sunday Riley CEO Serum, but it’s pricey.

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and, though everyone's experience is different, my skin has completely changed throughout the process. I normally had regular hormonal breakouts around my chin/mouth area, especially around my period, around 3 to 4 at a time. I had the worst hormonal breakout of my life right around when our baby was conceived (looking at it in retrospect), which makes sense because there was a surge of hormones in my body.

Now, though, my skin is actually way better than ever. I still get a few breakouts, but it's much drier than normal.

I've stayed away from benzoyl peroxide because my OB recommended against it, but I've found that hydrocolloid bandages have helped when I do have a whitehead.

My pregnant skincare routine:

morning

  • Splash face with water

  • Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence sunscreen

  • Makeup (sometimes full liquid foundation, sometimes just concealer, sometimes nothing)

    evening

  • I normally shower in the evening; if so, I just gently rub my face in a circular motion with my fingertips under the shower head

  • If I do not shower, I cleanse with Cetaphil for sensitive skin

  • Makeup removal: Almay oil-free makeup remover pads (mostly for mascara, since the majority of the makeup comes off in the shower or after cleansing)

  • About 2x per week, I use a Vitamin C serum like this

  • About 1x per week (maybe every other week), I use this chemical exfoliator, which really helps to remove dry skin (my cheeks, especially around my nose, have become so dry that they get flaky now)

  • Every night: moisturize entire face with Cetaphil in the tub; depending on dryness, I spot moisturize with coconut oil

  • If I have a breakout/whitehead (and now, they usually only arrive one at a time! Thanks, baby!), I pierce it with a sterilized tweezer (very fine tip) and use these hydrocolloid patches overnight.

Hope that helps! Basically, you can try to plan your skincare for pregnancy but your body may react differently than you expect. Good luck on TTC! :)

Try using a glycolic acid toner. (Pixie has a good one).

It also depends on your budget. I have some disposable income because I work in stem so I use Creme de la Mer, Sunday Riley Good Genes and Luna Oil, and Dr Dennis Gross daily peel pads. These all help a lot with scaring.

If you’re on a tighter budget there is a great vitamin c serum on amazon (link below).

Yes, I have tried their tret cream and their vitamin c serum and both were AMAZING and didn’t break me out at all. They’re not talked about much on this sub haha idk why. I started off very slow with the tret cream and didn’t purge either. I also like them because they use a lot of natural ingredients. They’re mainly sold on amazon. Hope you enjoy them too❤️

I keep hearing things about vitamin C serums and the like, but I can't really figure out what they're used for. I've tried looking over the sidebar, but I can't find anything aside from product recommendations for vitamin C. Can anyone point me to more resources or give me a TL;DR version?

I saw this on Amazon and thought it was interesting: https://www.amazon.com/Vitamin-Serum-Hyaluronic-Acid-Face/dp/B01M1HIIUT/ref=sr_1_35_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1504716468&sr=1-35&keywords=serum

More of an r/skincareaddiction question but here I go....that all depends on your skin type. I've used the 50 step Korean beauty routine for a while and didn't notice much of anything.

I use a foaming cleanser/makeup remover, vitamin c serum, 15 minutes later I use this serum and another 15 minutes later, a night time moisturizer. I don't have any issues with my skin. I could probably do without the second serum but I got a good deal on it \^_\^

A good cleanser, vitamin c serum, and night cream are generally everyone's friends.

LilyAna Naturals makes a nice one that doesn't break me out.

is it this one? if so, it uses SAP, and it would be ok to use in the am after stridex, since SAP works at a higher pH and wouldn't be too harsh

I've just purchased this Vit C serum:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1HIIUT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-v3hAb7PMKR68

I emailed them to ask about the pH level of this product and they said it's 7. I read some people here saying that it should be around 3 or less to be effective. Should I just return it? Is it useless? I've only been using it for a couple of days, I can't really tell if it's doing anything yet. I have a lot of dark spots and some freckles especially around my lips (kind of looks like mild melasma).
