I think its a good round up of where tires fall on the road-mtb scale. You may want something like a MXP tire - lots of tight, jagged tread, so you can get tacky on dirt, but still roll smooth on roads.

Check out the Vittoria Torreno Dry tires. For a cheap tire, you can look at something like the Panaracer Comet, though I don't think you can run that tubeless.
