OP: 4 HMDs neatly organized on the wall

Also OP: Box as monitor stand

edit: Meme-ish comments get so much attention. Let me take the opportunity to link to one of these desk attached monitor stands with VESA mount. Got one for 20€ and they're worth it

u/Steeps5 · 31 pointsr/buildapc

$150?? Where are you shopping for these? Apple.com?

Best monitor mount you'll ever need for $45: http://amzn.com/B009S750LA

Tilt, swivel, rotate, and you adjust the height of the arms.

Edit: Alright, so there are other circumstances where this won't be the best ever, but it's a much better value than spending $150 to mount monitors.

Vivo monitor mount from Amazon!

I definitely would recommend it if you want a cheap and sturdy mount; it hasn't failed me so far. :) I'm planning on getting a full swivel arm mount in the future though.

I recommend a dual monitor stands it will free up some desk space and you can adjust the heights of both of them. Once you go dual monitors you can't go back.

u/Baron_Von_D · 6 pointsr/pathofexile

The devs at Amazon would also do stuff like this. They also would do the trick with throwing a cheap Ikea coffee table on your desk to make a standing desk. Screw in a keyboard tray or shelf and it's the perfect height.
Just as long as you were in places that didn't have external client's walking through, nobody really cared. I mean, look how often you see people using reams of paper and/or thin boxes stacked up for monitor stands. I had to remind them we were Amazon and could just buy a stand or monitor arm.

u/kilipena · 6 pointsr/macsetups

I bought mine off of amazon.de as I'm located in Finland, but I'm fairly certain this is the same product (minus one monitor arm).

Edit. I removed the second monitor arm myself

u/nolongerilurk · 6 pointsr/buildapcsales

I have two of these. One at work and one at home. Mine are slightly different (I got this one). Both have 2 24 inch monitors on them. Pretty awesome product. I always laugh when people spend hundreds on crappy plastic mounts that take up half of their desk space; this takes up about 3 square inches..

Surprisingly it's just the way the desk is constructed. There isn't enough lip on the back to clamp the mount. (Amazon link shows pictures of the shitty clampy bit.)

But yeah, I was definitely too lazy to move more things at that point.

https://subpac.com/what-is-the-subpac/

Lets you experience a club like environment at home without pissing off the neighbours. Also good for movies and PS4.

I received this as a belated Christmas present last year as i didn't want or need anything at the time. Easily the best thing i never knew i needed in my life.

I've also just bought a dual monitor desk mount stand, flipped it so it tilts back and attached a tray to hold my controller and Kontrol X1. To finish I then put an additional monitor mount to the top for actually mounting a monitor (I know, crazy right, who does that?!) for viewing Rekordbox. Overall fairly stable and extremely easy to adjust the height to suit.

u/MistaHiggins · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

They’re not actually that expensive. I bought one for $30 on amazon because I needed my desk space back. The initial cost is only big when you need something like an ergotron, but even then I bought a similar adjustable stand for $40 on eBay for my work monitors.

u/kanickkanack · 3 pointsr/battlestations

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S750LA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here's the monitor arm, it's kind of a budget one. I would have preferred one that had independent arms so you could adjust the height of each monitor independently.

u/LethalBacon · 3 pointsr/AverageBattlestations

A bit of a budget setup, but I am finally extremely happy with it. PC running R7 370 and 1090T. Still handles most games fine on med-high, but hopefully upgrading in about a year.

After the picture was taken I moved the mount about 8 inches to the left. There is a bracket in the middle of my desk that prevents it from being perfectly centered. Any suggestions for what to do next? Mouse upgrade is probably most practical - I've been using a $20 'gaming' mouse for about a year.

Monitor - Found out after I got it that if you keep an eye out it occasionally drops to just over $200.

Vesa mount at my home is just a clamp and a rod with 2 arms. Cost me like $30 total and it's been in use for 5 years or more now. Picked another one like it up off craigslist for $15

Not as fancy as the ergotron but accomplishes the same goal and is rock solid, I don't think it will ever break and I've mounted all sorts of crap to it over the years.

It looks like you've gotten a couple people's advice already, but I figured I'd toss in some of my own just in case! My workplace started cheaping out and getting monitor stands like that, and they would always be uneven like that. For reference, this is like what we were buying.

To mount them, you mount the vesa adapter first, then slide it down on a little plate with a bolt coming through the top. Is this the same for yours? If so, this is what fixes it for me.

The bolt that sticks through the top (on the plate attached to the arm, that the vesa adapter slides on to) can be turned. this adjusts the height of the monitor on the stand. Usually now when I set one up, I see which is lower and turn that one as far up as it'll go, which usually makes it even. You might be having the opposite problem though.

Sorry if this doesn't apply to your model or if it's something you've already tried. Figured it would be worth a shot!

u/frosty374 · 3 pointsr/Battletops

A two monitor stand is $30 and may save you some severe neck pain. I have this one and I think its a great value

I got kicked out of /r/CableManagement even tho some people liked it there. Original Post

Even though I buy and build PC's for a living, I don't have a fancy water cooled setup at home. But this is my desk, it gets the job done. I recently cleaned up all the cables so thought some people would enjoy that. I could have hid the power cable but I don't like tying those up.

https://imgur.com/a/IXAG72q

Ready for the cool part? This is an Ikea desk, firs thing I did was threw out all the hardware and used velcro to fasten the legs to the desk. Zero issues for 6+ months. The parts from Ikea I used were:

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50106773/ ($100) https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90252908/ ($119)

I used zip ties + velcro ties to fasten the cables and a small speaker under the desk.

The monitor arm I use is good old Vivo from Amazon for $29..I've been using these for probably 4-5 years, and have purchased about a dozen of them.

https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V002/dp/B009S750LA

This is the speaker that is zipped under the desk:

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-SoundCore-Bluetooth-Dual-Driver-Distortion/dp/B016XTADG2 ($29)

The PC is self-built. Its a generic Mini ATX case, 6th gen i7, 16GB of Corsair 2400, a 128 Patriot SSD and a 2TB HDD, it also has an EVGA 1070 video card which is really overkill for what I do.

Last cool part - the case is equipped with a 5.25" "drawer" in place of DVD drive. Perfect for spare USB drives, a few pens, etc to keep the desk clean.

I used to have my two 27" monitors on a single mount like this.

I now have them on individual mounts similar to this.

I have way more options for adjusting them now. I can kick back, put my feet up on my desk, and pull my main monitor forward to a position where it's still comfortable to look at it.

u/cameronisher3 · 3 pointsr/buildapcforme

Disclaimer: I dont know shit about graphic design and what it wants in a pc, so I kinda just went for a consumer workstation pc.

So we start off with the CPU, its the ryzen 2700x, I selected this cpu for its 8 cores and superior workstation capabilities to anything on intels current consumer platform.

For the GPU I went with an rtx 2080, 1. Because it's a pretty damn good card 2. In the future programs will start supporting its ray tracing and that could be beneficial for your wife.

For ram I went with 32 gigs just so any programs she uses could have plenty if need be. It is also rgb.

These monitors are 4k 60hz, which the 2080 could do in most easier to run games. I went with these monitors because of their good price and pretty good reviews.

For storage there isnt a moving piece in sight, you've got a 1tb nvme ssd, and a 2tb sata ssd.
These will allow for quicker load times.

The case I chose has plenty of airflow and a window to admire your the rgb (if that's her thing).

I included some not bad case fans that'll serve you well, they are also rgb.

For the peripherals i chose a razer deathadder (I have personal experience with this mouse and find it very comfortable and nice to use), a razer huntsman elite keyboard (this keyboard has been getting awesome reviews and includes a wrist rest), I also threw in some well reviewed headphones in case she needed those.

The OS is just standard windows 10.

I hope that's all good for you, heres the system

I've got two of these desks. One of them has two holes. One hole was caused by a dual monitor stand. The surface area on the top of the stand is small. I was trying to adjust something on the back of the monitors and i guess it was a little too much pressure for the desk, and the stand caved in. The desk is sort of hollow. I think the inside is like a cardboard honeycomb design, so not very strong.

Second hole was from me slamming down a fist in a programming rage quit.

edit: whoops. I was thinking the Linnmon. dont get the linnmon

u/AnotherAssHat · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Check if your monitor VESA compatible and it widens your options a bit past OEM stuff.
Brand new stands can be found on Amazon for $30.

Desk stand like this for $25 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078HZBL1F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EofyCbJEPDRBC

Or dual arms like this for $30 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_KqfyCbPAG2SGZ

Keep an eye on a few of them and they usually go on sale from time to time for even less.

u/TallGuyJosh · 3 pointsr/battlestations

Are you using either this or this? If so, how did you mount one monitor above the other? I have both, but my three monitors are all mounted side by side. I'd like to put my vertical mounted monitor on top of my middle monitor though.

u/RE4LIZER · 3 pointsr/battlestations

He may be using one similar to mine. Rotates and moves when you want it, stays put when you don't. No independent height adjustment though.

You just made it sound like there's nothing better than the cheapo arm and that spending $150 is as ridiculous as apple priced products.

> Best monitor mount you'll ever need for $45: http://amzn.com/B009S750LA

I would say they are very good value at that price, but there is a TON of room to go higher. As opposed to mousepads, where the ceiling is much lower. You have some different materials and textures to suit different uses but they're all about the same price.

u/ImFrom1988 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Agreed. If you got a desk mount that attached to the rear of your desk you could probably fit two monitors at some point if you pushed your tower flush with the wall. I've been using:

> How do you get a broken arm from a computer?

If you actually want an answer: One of my coworkers at my last job broke his leg (or ankle) while on a workplace sponsored scavenger hunt. Supposedly, at the company I currently work at, it's typical for someone to be injured at their annual event which includes a bunch of small competitive physical games.

> What I meant was tendonitis, RSI, nerve damage, stress, posture problems, fibromyalgia, and so on.

That's why I asked. :)

Posture: I've been doing a standing desk for over 2 years, without any sitting. It's quite painful the first 2 months, but now I barely notice it. If you do a standing desk, make sure to get a good standing mat. Speaking from experience, I can currently stand 16+ hours a day with a standing mat, but can't really stand much beyond an hour without.

The cheapest standing desks are simply desks that are at standing height and don't move. If you want to sit occasionally, get a bar-stool. I've also used those utility shelves you find at hardware stores, with slots so you can set shelf-height every inch, which is an easy way to get one lesss than $100 (although they're not "pretty").

Most monitors have mounting screw holes on the back (typically called VESA mount) spaced at fixed sizes like 100mm. I'm a huge fan of this style of monitor mount [link], as it frees up a lot of desk space (and they're inexpensive too). Make sure to check the height of the support bar if yo get one of these, or the height of any monitor stand you might get to ensure it actually gets your monitor up to eye level.

Also, in terms of expense of equipment, I invest money in my own equipment (and success). Begging employers is a tedious process, and we're generally paid well as software engineers that we can afford it. If I ever switch employers, I take all that with me. The two things I don't buy are computers or software licenses. Otherwise, I absolutely will buy keyboard, mouse, standing desk, better monitor (4k!), standing mat, and a bunch of other things. I believe you eventually make that investment back in monetary value of raises you'll get (though you may have to job-hop occasionally to cash that in) - but also the benefits like better posture, and simply being confortable those 8+ hours per day you work (versus uncomfortable 8 hours per day).

this one for $30 can't be beat. Quite strong, that's a 24" and a 27". Hinges are pretty easily adjustable, only annoying part is you can't adjust the height easily without taking the monitors off since it's a single big clamp on the main post, with the monitors on it's a bit heavy to loosen and try to lower carefully. Upside is the monitors have a quick release from it.

u/patroniton · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I think it all depends on how the stands hook the monitor up to the actual stand. I think mine's just a hook-like design like you're describing and I think it would work for your use case (not at home atm so I can't confirm).

This is the mount I have at home. The X looking parts have a top hook that goes into the stand bit and then has the one screw that you can see in the middle of the top X part that helps hold it in place.

With this you can get away with one 34 inch ultrawide and one 17-19 inch monitor. Any larger than that then you might try this. Apparently you can use two 34 inch monitors with them just fine and it's what I plan on using in the future.

Another solution you can try is installing just one arm for your second monitor and aligning it with your primary or what have you. Good luck dude

u/SURPLUS_NiNjA · 2 pointsr/audiophile

You could bolt a wall mount to a piece of wood and then get a cheap clamp and clamp the wood to your desk or just bolt the wall mount to your desk.

Or you could get this and just bolt it to something and bolt the speakers to that https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V002/dp/B009S750LA/ref=lp_490624011_1_1?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1482919684&sr=1-1

2 questions for this monday morning:

  1. Dual monitor stand recommendations? Seems like both Mount It! and VIVO are good - i want something where each arm is individually adjustable. Clamp style is preferred but the option to have a stand would be nice too. I have two u2414h's to mount. Is one clearly better than another? Looking at this VIVO and this mount it! - is one better than another or do any of you have recommendations?

  2. RAM timings - i've got 2x8gb G.SKILL TridentX 1866 DDR3 sticks, and a 4790k. According to PCPartPicker, these exceed the Haswell recommendation of 1.5v, and will be downclocked. Should i return and get something like the 1866 snipers, which are cheaper, or will i be fine?

    TIA!

u/bgunn925 · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Are you sure you bought that exact one? Because it absolutely has VESA compatibility -- it is literally only VESA-compatible.

Also, as you can see from the diagram, it is quite adjustable. In fact, both items have the exact same set of rotational axes -- the only thing that could vary between the two are the angles through which each axis rotates and the length of the arms. The Monoprice mount must have longer arms, if it's able to hold 34" monitors, making it more adjustable. But to say one is much more adjustable than the other seems over-dramatic. Something like this would be much less adjustable.

Also, some of the adjustable screws are concealed by plastic casings. They easily pop off, allowing access to adjust them, but the instruction manual failed to mention their existence. I only knew to look for them because I saw them referenced in a review. Perhaps, because the instruction manual doesn't mention them, you weren't aware of these extra adjustable parameters and misinterpreted the mount as less adjustable than it really is?

I have this one, which is the single-arm version of the one I linked above and I think it is very well-built/sturdy. The Monoprice is probably sturdier -- it would need to be, in order to hold more weight. If you need to mount something bigger than 27", definitely go with the Monoprice. But I have used the North Bayou mount to mount a XB270HU, XB271HU, XG2703-GS, and an older/heavier LG monitor -- all of which are 27" -- and the mount is rock-solid.

I'm not saying that the North Bayou is better than the Monoprice -- I've never used a Monoprice monitor mount and can't make that comparison. In fact, I would assume the Monoprice is better, since it can hold larger monitors. But the Monoprice is more expensive and, for me, the cheapest shipping is $12.19, bringing the total cost to $63.38, before tax. The North Bayou mount is only $38.16, before tax, making it $25 / 40% cheaper, and comes from Amazon. In my own experience, it is very sturdy and highly adjustable -- if my 27" monitors are being sturdily held in place and can be adjusted through any of the positions I'd realistically use, I don't think I'd gain anything from spending the extra cash.

I just want to make the distinction to anybody reading this that, even though the Monoprice mount might be a little sturdier/more adjustable, the North Bayou is absolutely more than adequate and is a crowd-favorite on r/buildapcsales (search through the previous listings, everyone speaks very highly of them and considers them to be exceptional quality for the price, including myself). Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but, if you're only mounting 27" monitors or smaller, the North Bayou option seems like a no-brainer to me.

It's basic, but it's still a solid setup to be honest. My one suggestion would be to move the two monitors together somehow so that you can see them at the same time. Since fitting both monitors on your desk might make things a bit cramped, maybe invest in a dual monitor arm? This is the one I use, and it would probably work for you pretty well.

I have an Alienware 34 and vertical 27” Ultrasharp, and pushed it almost to the max in regards to spacing, so your 24” will be perfectly fine. It has a small footprint and is just so damn sturdy. The thing with the Vivo is that it has virtually no separate height adjustment, so both vesa mounts has to be at the same level.

If you’re looking to have more individual vertical adjustment I’d recommend the bulkier Wali . It was my first mount but I returned it because the base was bigger and it just didn’t have that clean of a look as the Vivo

Maybe consider a monitor mount (example) and a headphone hook (example) and you might find yourself with some more space to work with. Looks great, though. Pretty cool that you're so close to that window for some fresh air.

u/sonsofaureus · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

I would suggest this combo:
Vivo tall monitor mount
Vivo dual monitor mount

You take the arms from the dual mount, and put it on the tall pole along with the single mount arm. Size limit for the 2 on the bottom is 27 inches FYI.

u/Eldereon · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Those are good points. Thinking about trying out this one. Would make my desk a lot easier to dust. Can these clamp-mounts really support the weight of two 27" monitors?

I would get a Monitor Mount for those bad boys, then move your rig to the floor (with ventilation underneath).

If you want more flexibility in monitor placement (and if you monitors have VESA mounts), you could consider mounting arms. This would also free up some desktop surface space things like action figures.

u/admiralkit · 2 pointsr/nfl

Consider getting some kind of a dual monitor mount that reduces the overall footprint of your monitors on your desk. And bigger is better - you think you want to match the screen size, but unless you're particularly OCD you'll end up regretting not having the real estate from larger monitors.

u/Eneerge · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I just picked up this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077DSZRVZ/

It seems ok after making adjustments. However, it only came with 1 set of VESA screws. Dual arms, but only 1 set of screws? Come on now... It supports 20lbs (the most important part). Not sure how much the Alienware weighs, but you will want to compare that spec. Here's a guy making a review of this stand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6IpG8oqwU4

Also images of my arms: https://imgur.com/a/XYwU1Lp

The Amazon Basics one is a little bit more and actually supports a little more weight but I can not vouch: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Premium-Dual-Monitor-Stand/dp/B00MIBN71I/

Here's just some notes from my research as I was looking for one...

The main design differences are:

  1. Wall Mounted
  2. Desk Clamped on back of desk
  3. Hole in Desk and Mount to Desk with screw(s) or wingnut

If you notice, there's a few other different design elements:

Basic Design Clamp WITH Adjustment Mid-piece (Not sure what the official terminology is) Bestand/Amazon design I mentioned above

  • There is a "middle" point just above the bottom of the base that is adjustable. This can be swiveled to further give some flexibility in the way it's mounted.
  • Some of the dual arms don't have that piece and just goes directly from the desk clamp into the arm.

Basic Clamp Design WITHOUT the Adjustment Mid-piece (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CWQ5S1Q/)

  • Notice that the arms go directly down into the metal piece at the bottom.
  • The middle piece is not there and there's no swiveling.

    Single pole design (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077X9Z7MT/)

  • Each individual arm can be swiveled independently on the pole itself (similar to having the mid point piece, but each monitor is independent)
  • Some poles support up to 3 monitors
  • Each monitor will have different height abilities which may be a good thing if you want one monitor to sit on top of the other
  • May have slightly less horizontal distance since each arm sits on top of one another instead of spaced horizontally from the other arm

    Horizontal Only Adjustments (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/)

  • These seem to only move horizontally and not vertically
  • Will make it easy to keep monitors straight, but less functionality
  • Notice the arms fold out behind the monitor. Must have real-estate behind the desk to support that (also applies to other designs, see below)

One other thing to consider when using the Desk Clamp Design or Wall Mount Design is that the amount of space you have behind your desk is going to dictate about how far out your monitors are going to be from the wall. Because you cant swivel the bottom half of the arm all the way around, then your top half + it's angle is going to determine the closest you can get to the wall.

The top arm on the Bestand is ~11 inches. I adjusted the bottom half all the way until they were hitting the wall. I was able to swivel the middle piece slightly so the right monitor could sit a little further back than the left one. It's still about 15" away from the wall which is a little closer than I had with the stand.

However, something I just realized is if you move the center swivel adjustment piece higher, you can probably get the monitors closer to the wall because the top half of the arm angles downward. So you will get more of an angle when the middle piece is higher up which should make the monitors sit further back.

If the bottom arm had an adjustable height that would make it easier to make it sit closer to the wall.

Obviously, the hole-in-desk design will give you the ability to mount the arm base further away from the wall so you can swivel the arms further backwards if you need to.
u/My_Police_Box · 2 pointsr/techsupport

Something like this should work for two monitors. The one you posted is a single mount.

u/TheNavajoBro · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Looks nice, I really need to get some LED strips for myself. However, you could always clean it up a bit by using a clip-on dual monitor mount like this one on amazon. Gives ya some space under the monitors and helps with the cable clutter with the clips it comes with. Should look pretty primo after that I'd say

I use the VIVO dual monitor arm for Acer Predator x34 and my tiny Hanns G.

VIVO Dual LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Heavy Duty Fully Adjustable fits 2 /Two Screens up to 27" (STAND-V002) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5yYEybETEB0A0

It's been about 6 months since I got it and there are no signs of failure.

https://imgur.com/a/qxkxZ

I was honestly very scared of using it because the Acer is huge and heavy. Add to that my desk made it impossible to use the clamp on the arm normally. Instead of using screwing the 2 clamp pieces together, putting the arm on the desk, and then tightening, I had to tighten the half clamp, put the monitor on the desk, and then screw the top and bottom clamp pieces together.

I thought it would start to come apart over time because of this so I planned on tightening the clamp every few months. After about 3-4 months, I found that the screws were as tight as I made them when I first installed them.

I like the design, one suggestions why not switch over to the OLOV Leg just in case your floor or carpet is not level. I've had great luck with 6 of these legs making my desk rock solid.

Also I had used a similar shelf design to support my monitors but eventually went to a pole mount setup, The shelf limited the height of the items I could put under it and I really like having the open space

Double mount

Triple mount
These are VERY strong and inexpensive as well.

A 2700X or 2600x, depending on how many cores you need, along with its stock cooler probably makes more sense than an 8700k and a tower cooler.

A 970 evo makes a lot more sense than a 850 evo.

The monitors you chose have VESA mounts. Monitor stands (I use this one) will free desk space and facilitate putting a monitor in portrait, a real boon if you're viewing a pdf or want a lot of code onscreen at once or whatever.

If you're going to be in a dorm, consider mITX for the space savings. (This goes well with switching a SATA SSD for a M.2 one.)

Dual Mount desk attachment.

I have this screen and a 23" in portrait mode. The mount is pretty solid. It is much better than the mount the screen comes with.

Others have mentioned that you have to take the bezel apart to VESA mount this, so just be aware and careful when you do.

u/venerated · 1 pointr/Workspaces

Did you ever find one? I've been doing a lot of research about them! I ended up going with this Vivo dual monitor one but you wouldn't be able to mount 2 28" on there, you could do the 28" and 24". You could get 2 single mounts and do the 28" monitors that way. These mounts are cheap but I'm super happy with mine and it feels solid!

u/edwardmagichands · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Some stands have the built in capability to rotate all the way vertical. Others do not. My VG248QE had that function, but my AOC refurb did not. That is why a key feature for a lot of people when looking to by a monitor is to be VESA mountable. VESA is a common standard to mount monitors to a stand or to the wall. If your monitor is VESA compatible for this size range it will likely have a 4 screw holes in the back either 75x75mm or 100x100mm. Most stands you can purchase can accommodate both those sizes. So while my 24" has a 100x100 bracket and my 22" has a 75x75 bracket I was still able to mount both of them on the same dual monitor arm. This is the one I bought recently. It's good, but not perfect.

u/Rackhammm · 1 pointr/battlestations

Actually planning to upgrade to a more adjustable dual arm mount but not until after I've gotten a better set of monitors.

Hey there! The malm might work if you take it apart and just use the top. IKEA reinforces the edges of their cheapo Linnmon table tops, and they work perfect for it. I would imagine the Malm would be done the same way, or maybe even better if they use something a little more solid than the honeycombed cardboard inside the Linnmons. (although, the Linnmon ones are pretty good. I weigh about 120 lbs and have stood on my Linnmon several times without any issues).

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S750LA/ <- that's the monitor mount I use. One arm has been shortened to fit my setup a bit better though. It works really well and I've been using it for years on various Linnmons without any sagging issues. My monitors are 23" each, not incredibly heavy but not super light either.

I actually have a photo of it on a Linnmon right now, but its on a VIVO motorized frame instead of OLOV legs. (I had to move my desk in a rush to get natural lighting for a Skype interview - please pardon my mess! lol)

https://imgur.com/79y5esY

If you do get the mount, just make sure you use the clamp, and not the optional grommet. I tried installing it on a corner Linnmon using the grommet... and it just folded in on itself, since it was installed pretty far from the reinforced edges of the desk.

It wasn't a complete loss though. I just painted some wood to match the mount, and used it to reinforce the area. It just gave me a little place to put my spooky forest spirits lol

I went cheap and bought this one.

I have and 29" 21:9 and a 24" 16:9 in portrait. They will both fit in landscape; but, because of the way the arms are it won't come forward as much from the mounting point.

u/febreeze1 · 1 pointr/battlestations

I first went with this one from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S750LA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but I ended up returning it due to the connector for one of the arms not supporting the weight of my monitor (possibly faulty but also read this has happened before to other people).

The next one I got, which is the one in the pic is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QR48YLB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It works awesome. Gas spring monitor mount. Holds a 27in curved and 24 in in portrait perfectly fine. Super easy to adjust and manipulate to the position you want it in and has held up over the past 2 months.

Now one problem I ran into is the connecting point from the VESA adapter on my curved monitor can tilt left and right WITHIN the bracket that holds the monitor from the arm. So it seeds perfectly and is secured within the clip (hard to describe but ultimately the monitor wont fall) it just doesn't fit 100% snug, so you get a 3 cm tilt left or right. Its in no way a problem holding the monitor its moreso an annoyance. The monitor centers perfectly and stays there, you just have to re-position it once a week it seems.

u/sandmansndr · 1 pointr/buildapc

I just installed a [Dual Monitor stand] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S750LA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for my Dell U29W17 and my Dell 2415H which looks fantastic and is a godsend for cable-management, but the screens are hanging a little crooked- as if the screens are too heavy for the arms.

The stand can hold up to 22 lbs per arm, and neither of my monitors exceed that. I have the arms fairly tightly screwed, but loose enough so that I can move the screens around.

Has anyone had this same issue with Dual Monitor stands? If so, how did you fix this?

That's the stand I'm using, it definitely does not work if both are horizontal. The max apparently is 2 27" monitors, and they're probably specifying that assuming that both monitors are 16:9. My ultrawide is almost 29" across itself, which is supposedly the distance between both mounts, not sure how far they have to be spread out for that though. You may be able to make it work if you really separated the two arms and had them completely flat but I don't think you'd be able to reach a comfortable arrangement.

I know that I'd be fine with 16 GB RAM, but I wanted to spring for 32 GB in case I ever wanted to venture outside of gaming into more demanding tasks, as well as 32 GB would future-proof me until the end of time for gaming.

I wanted to spring for an NVME SSD to reduce cables inside the case, as it attaches directly to the motherboard. No need for the pesky SATA cables.

I might just go with a single 1080 Ti due to the advice I'm getting on this post, but I think I'll just stick with an 850 W to leave me open to expand my build without having to upgrade the PSU.

I don't really need Windows 10 Pro, but I know of a place where I can get Windows 10 Home and Pro for extremely cheap, and the difference in price between Home and Pro on this particular site is negligible, so I might as well go with Pro.

I definitely won't be planning on playing games on both monitors, but I think ideally I'd like to use a dual monitor stand (like this one). Furthermore, the reason I went with the same exact monitor for the secondary monitor is for consistency (they both look the exact same and are the exact same size, and will line up perfectly with each other).

I am 5'10" so I don't usually have this issue, but I know what you mean. I'd like to have as much clearance as possible, but was thinking those thin drawers would be nice for the random little things that would inevitably make their home somewhere on or around my desk. Why'd you go with a pair of the single-arm mounts instead of the dual arm? It seems like a decent cost savings to just get the dual-arm. I could also try to do everything else right with my current table before swapping it out for a "better" desk.

VIVO Dual-Arm

As for holding your monitors, you might want to consider a [monitor stand] (http://www.amazon.com/Monitor-Mount-Stand-Adjustable-Screens/dp/B009S750LA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426876322&sr=8-1&keywords=vivo+monitor+stand) so that you have more space on your desk.

Best of luck in your build.

Happy to help when I can!

  1. I did not go with Jarvis arms. I went with a Vivo dual mount option. So they aren't expensive but they work for my needs overall. For my needs, if I were doing it again, I'd only opt for a larger center pole.
  2. I don't see any complaints about one vs the other except in the color. I think rubberwood is a little softer wood (going from memory). But I don't think its softer to a degree that would really matter under most common uses, including being a gamer.
  3. How close to do have your wrist rest(s) to the edge? If your current ergo needs don't have you resting your forearms/wrist against the front edge corner, you won't notice a difference. Where the curve comes in handy is to cut down on that sharpness when leaning there. Leaning against my desk is not a problem and I've not noticed the missing space there for the curve. Its much less missing than what it appears in the drawings and pics make it appear (from my perspective). Its a feature that adds looks and a bit of ergo for most people I think.
  4. On the mats, I always say get something that's not cheap, preferably with a good return policy.

I'm looking into getting a VESA monitor arm like this one for a Dell S2716DG + 1 more similarly-sized monitor, each ~10 lbs. I also have an Ikea Linnmon desk--can anyone comment on the stability of the arm mount? I'm worried that either the clamp won't hold up, or the desk itself well get damaged and the entire setup goes tits up.

u/casfacto · 1 pointr/starcitizen

OP, well done! Mind blowingly well done!

I have a pair of MonsterTechs. I also happen to have the double armed version of that monitor mount. Here is my setup in case you're wondering.

I can honestly say that using that monitor stand for a hotas mount will absolutely work. That monitor stand is unbelievable steady. Look at my desk, it's thin, and that monitor stand is super steady with both monitors hanging way up front. My point is that using them as hotas mounts will work great.

Even with these Monsters I'm pretty Jelly.

u/kichithewolf · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm looking to get a VESA mount for my monitors, but haven't been able to find one that holds all three that I like. This is the closest I've found and the "wings" don't fold in sharply enough. Would it be easier to buy two dual mounts / one dual, one single? I looked at this one and this other one and they both seem decent.

My monitors are as follows: 24" (s2415h), 27" (27ud68), 24" (actually a small tv), where the 27" is my primary that I want in the center facing me directly. The two 24" monitors I'm looking to have off to the side, angled sharply toward me since I occasionally boot the playstations on them.

Additionally, I'm planning on putting some wood between the desk clamp and desk to try and spread out the weight of the stand. Good idea? Bad idea? Desk is most likely from Staples/Office Depot/one of those office supply stores, it's old and I don't remember the model.

I have 2 QNIX 27" monitors. Each weighs roughly 18 pounds. After a coffee-ant accident, I've decided I wanted to eventually lift the monitors off the desk to help make space, make them at a more comfortable viewing angle and avoid coffee-ants.

Gotcha, dual monitors (or triple monitors) are always nice. I have a GTX 660 Ti and Im thinking of upgrading to a GTX 970 over the summer. I personally recommend using the same brand of GPU as you do for your Mobo. I have an MSI Mobo and Im going to make sure I get an MSI GTX 970. Not sure that it really matters but its just my preference. If you want to go with something black that works there is a 7 Port Amazon Basics USB Hub (http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Port-USB-power-adapter/dp/B00DQFGJR4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419539487&sr=8-1&keywords=amazon+basics+7+port+usb+hub). Its big enough that it won't get pulled around while cords are plugged in but should still be small enough to hide behind the monitor or desktop. I'd recommend looking into a Dual Monitor Desk Mount once you have the two 27" monitors, they look really good and let you raise your monitors more to eye level which is better ergonomically. Anyone have a good recommendation for a dual arm mount? I bought two of these monitors and want to get a good mount for them. I see some on amazon for like 30$ with high reviews. Are people just using those or what?

Any suggestion on this is much appreciated. Thanks.

Here is one I looked into that seems good but of cheaper build: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RpH9Bb7BYGB1R

Here is one from AmazonBasics which seems to have “premium” quality construction but it’s quite expensive: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MIBN71I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_XqI9BbBNJY5J4

EDIT; I’ve ended up purchasing the expensive Amazon Basics one. From my research, the durability, weight, and adjustment of monitors seems to be simply much better than the 30$ mount. Also, most folks have said there isn’t much monitor movement or anything when you tighten the tension - that’s key for me. Monitors moving at all after mounting drives me crazy.

u/echo-p3 · 1 pointr/buildapc

You could definitely try that. The arms aren't quite long enough to reach the middle of the desk, but if you are okay with having a corner desk set up or at least having them off to one side. I've also seen people use something like this that doesn't require that much depth, I just don't think it looks quite as pretty.

It's a VIVO dual monitor mount from Amazon. I've had it for almost a year now and had zero problems!

Here's the Link

u/NotScrollsApparently · 1 pointr/buildapc

I want to buy and install a monitor stand to my desk. I have the acer G257HL monitor now and will buy asus VG278Q relatively soon as my second screen.

How do I know if these monitors will go together on a stand, on something like this for example?

I've never used stands like this before, is it connected to the same place where the usual stand is (on this image where the x stand is inserted) and the size is universal and standard? Because it looks pretty different on the 2nd monitor.

u/jaytshirt · 1 pointr/buildapc

I had the same problem with my two monitors. VESA compatible I'm guessing?

Here's what I bought and used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6pJACb7P33GDT

Really reasonable price. Heavy metal construction. Clamps securely to the side of a desk.

Here's how it looked once I was finished:

Thanks for the response. Do you know of any alternatives besides a stand? Are there any clamps meant for deeper desks? Below is the link of the arms I wanted (but were only 4 inches deep)

You didn’t state a budget so I’m just gonna suggest these for more room/ cleaner work area: Bigger desk (at least 55” in width), monitor mounts, cable raceways/cable box for all of your cable management needs.

For a desk I would suggest looking into something like an IKEA Bekant, the one I linked is the bigger one, 63” x 31”and that should give you more room to work with for textbooks on the desk.

For monitors mounting is best (imo) so you can have that much more room to push stuff alll the way back to take advantage of the depth. This monitor arm Is good.

For cable management I would suggest this raceway. It comes with 9 15” long pieces that you can mount under your desk. I would use some command strips to hold them in place. Use the raceway to feed all your cables through to a cable management box, Something similar to this one, so you can stuff in the excess cables and make it look nicer. Just have the box behind your pc or along on of the desk legs.
NOTE: the IKEA Bekant does come included with a cable management pouch/net under the desk but imo with 2 monitors, a switch, and keyboard it would be too much worse for that little thing.

Ps: you don’t have to use the stuff I listed, there’s always alternatives if you have a question just ask, I’ll see if I can help.

Get one of these if you feel the two monitors take up too much desk space. https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V002/dp/B009S750LA/

I used this monitor stand: http://www.casadosuporte.com.br/suporte-articulado-para-2-monitores-de-led-e-lcd-de-13-a-27--ldt11-c024-339741.aspx/p

I tried to find it outside Brazil and couldn't. If you look closely, the stand pole is right in the "junction" of the 2 monitors. The one in landscape is Benq XL2420T and the one in portrait mode is a Dell 2209WA. If you want I can take a picture from behind of the monitors, but the stand allows to rotate both monitors.

Edit.: Something like this https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V002/dp/B009S750LA/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1491338536&sr=8-3-fkmr1&keywords=brateck+dual

At my office I was often in pain and would regularly break the cheap office chairs they have, I even once popped a balance ball. Taking breaks and getting up to move regularly is important. Standing desks are cool and useful but there are other ergonomic things that could help too.

I finally broke down and with my own money bought a large Aeron chair and a post mount for my monitors. I was also able to switch to a larger desk (stole it from an intern really) and the change has been dramatic. The stand was a reasonable price but the chair is way too expensive. For less than half the price I was able to find a slightly used chair on Craigslist and bought this mount from Amazon. Full disclosure, after I bought the chair my boss understood how useful it was for me and had work chip in half the price but still let me keep it if I leave.

Haha thank you! This was actually my first time doing a dual monitor set up too so I was pretty nervous about choosing a stand.

VIVO Dual LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Heavy Duty Fully Adjustable fits 2 /Two Screens up to 27" (STAND-V002) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.EBEDbBJAJY0J

This think is great and super easy to set up. It’s a little tight at first and takes some fidgeting but it feels secure. I was also worried about the clamp and the desk combo but it worked out I just had to finesse it a bit.

All in all I’m super happy with it and would probably buy the table again. Also it’s super easy to take apart to move locations if you have to

u/robdam1001 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I use [This ](VIVO Dual LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Heavy Duty Fully Adjustable fits 2 /Two Screens up to 27" (STAND-V002) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vYNFDbBE99TCM) clamp for my dual PG279Q's. Works great simply clamped to my standing desk.

u/UlersFormula · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Anyone know if it would work with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_iyoEAbEMKY0XR I have a smaller 20in on the side.

u/Nangz · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

More or less. Picture wise they will be close enough. The aesthetics of the monitors are fairly close. The XB271HU has a very different stand and I would recommend you throw these up on some type of VESA mount double arm. Something like this:https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Mount-Adjustable-Screens/dp/B009S750LA/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1523389920&sr=1-5&keywords=27+inch+monitor+arm

The bezels look close from screenshots and the only glaring difference I see is the branding in the bottom. If that doesn't bother you then go for it!

u/Koshipewpew · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Anyone that has this, how would you compare it to the Vivo (single or dual mount) see: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=psdc_490624011_t2_B01FRWONKI for example.

u/carpeggio · 1 pointr/buildapc

I have this setup.

The Dell S2716DG, and a 1080p144hz monitor next to it.

Using this stand.

I'd say the 'base' monitor you'd want to get has to have 144hz. Simply b/c once you go 144hz, having a 60hz monitor next to it would feel terrible.

So just look for the best 'budget' 1080p144hz that you can, imo. There's several options that fit this, I wouldn't be too picky here. In fact, go onto Ebay/CL and see if you can get a used one. The 1080p144hz is 'on-its-way-out', where as 1440p/144hz may become the standard. So you don't need to go hog-wild getting a really good 1080p/144.

I use the 1080p, as my secondary (Reddit, Youtube, etc.) and the 1440p for games. It's a good middle ground between 2 identical 1440p monitors ($$$).

My future purchase might be a 240hz 1080p, additionally. So I can play cinematic/G-Sync games @1440p, play super competative FPS shooters on the 240hz, and have a nice 144hz monitor for productivity. So far, that's all I'm really planning for.

The 1440p/144hz of course being possibly upgraded to 4k/144hz or Ultrawide resolution at high refreshes. However I feel like 1440p/144hz is the sweet spot right now for pairings with affordable GPUs (1070/1080)

My DREAM setup would be a 240hz 1080p. And and ultra ultra wide for cinema/games, and a 4k/144hz for games that don't work well with ultra wide.

u/editjames · 1 pointr/AskBattlestations

that makes total sense. I just want to bring one of the monitors in front of the other sometimes and centered. Do you think something like this would work?

Looking at monitor arms for my new monitors, I'm troubled by whether I should buy a gas spring mount or a metal bar one. Looking at the VIVO brand on Amazon. I currently have a 27" and looking to get a 24" one, so having 2 different sizes (so something like this VIVO won't work well since I can't adjust them separately.

The only worry is that the gas spring mount will fail over time versus the bars (granted they both can fail). Any recommendations or am I worrying over something minuscule? I was looking at the STAND-V002JB versus getting two STAND-V001.

u/Swerveezy · 1 pointr/battlestations

this one :\^) its nice cheap and does the job

u/Drock37 · 1 pointr/hotas

This is the mount I bought - I used to have a triple monitor setup but when I moved to a 34'' UltraWide I ripped the left and right arms off and now am using them for the Hotas.

https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V003/dp/B009S7ALH8

Edit: Looks like that mount above is no longer available - this one would probably work as well -but I dont own it so I can be 100% sure on the length of the arms:
https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V002/dp/B009S750LA/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1475257585&sr=1-6&keywords=vivo+desk+mount

u/TheTraegs · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I suppose that would work. In my setup it was literally just the monitor laying down on the shelf though.

You could try getting something like this (this is a dual monitor mount though). Mount the monitor to it upside down, then attach it to the headboard of his bed? I don't think the clamp would be very stable at that angle though.

u/SagittandiEstVita · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I'm ordered the Human Centric VESA adapter from Amazon and just using a cheap VIVO dual monitor arm. (This one https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V002/dp/B009S750LA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467085405&sr=8-3&keywords=dual+monitor+arm)

Arm is stable, although shaking the table does transmit the vibration to the monitor arm.

u/MiniBastard · 1 pointr/DIY

I use ggpo which lets you play with people online so I never run out of people to play. As for the stand this isn't the exact model but it is my stand. Overall it's sturdy and the screens don't droop but the cord clips are cheap and fall out.

u/will_bartnik · 1 pointr/buildapc

They’re actually both 27 inch displays.

Left- MSI MAG27C

Right- Samsung LC27F390FHNXGO

I have my monitors high because I’m 6’7, kinda need them to be that high. Also my studio monitor speakers fit underneath them.

The monitor stand I purchased and rotate either screen 360 degrees in either direction, and works really well for me
