if you plan to keep this a while, id highly recommend getting the largest tv you can afford, that will fit in your space. My personal opinion, for most people, they will enjoy a larger screen over slightly better picture quality.

how far away do you sit away from the screen? A 55" 4k is a bit small, id be looking at a 60" or probably a 65".

on a quick look, this seems to be a pretty good deal Vizio 65" tvCheck out the black friday deals online, you may be able to snag something decent.

what brand of tv is your current model? I'm guessing an off brand based on the price you paid?

I don't think they make plasma TVs anymore. Yes - 4k on a couch does pose issues on the desktop and in certain games. I keep the desktop at 1440p or 1080p. You can just run the games in 4k fullscreen.

https://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-D65u-D2-Inches-Class-Full-Array/dp/B0170GE6K6. Its a year or two old now. They have better models out now but search online for the input lag. I wanted a 65", 4k, low input lag under $1000 and this was what I filtered out.

There is a program you can buy on Steam for like $3 called controller companion. You can use an xbox one controller as a keyboard and mouse. Its very, very nice. I use it daily. You click in the left stick and it brings up this spiral alphabet...thing. Its slow but its fine for quick links or youtube searches.
