Ok, so both guitars will likely do the job. You have made a good choice so far in choosing a humbucker-humbucker guitar; they have less buzz and are more forgiving of very distorted tones than single coils.
Epis have gotten good in recent years. If we were back in 2010, I would advise against it. I love Les Pauls and am happy there is an affordable alternative to Gibson. This will be able to play rock, metal, blues, etc. Maybe not dimebag darrell squeals or djent, but most metal for sure.
Ibanez play really nice. Great for metal and rock. They are also lighter than Les Pauls, if that matters. High output pickups dont sound as nice clean imo, but are great for any distorted setting.
Never played a Revstar.
Like you mentioned though, you should play the guitars and see what works for you.
As for amps, you will need a practice amp anyways, so get yourself a ~10 watt digital modelling amp with headphones and aux in; trust me when I say you will at some point be very happy to have both audio options. They can be cheap. Fender Mustangs are good, as are Vox VT series, and my personal favorite so far, the Yamaha THR series. The mustang is only $160, and the rest are ~$300. I use the mustang and like it. I also have the other two. All three amps have great tone options from jazz to blues to rock to metal, on board effects, and a tuner.
