I was thinking the same thing. I have this desk and it's cheap, sturdy, and aesthetically pleasing. It's harder to pick a chair without sitting on it.

I have this desk that I purchased from Amazon. Free shipping, only took me about 20 minutes to assemble. I have two monitors with plenty of room for a third, and am actually using my keyboard/mouse up top instead of in the tray since my keyboard is pretty big. Overall, I really like it. 3 color options and tons of space. Wasn't sure if you could use an "L" desk, but still wanted to give this option.

u/interweber · 6 pointsr/battlestations

No. I specifically avoided the arms that clamp to the desk for this reason.

This is the stand I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Monitor-Standing-Supports-002-0020/dp/B006JG9RQ2/

The base itself is actually fairly heavy and wide, but presumably it spreads the weight across the desk. Right now I actually have the monitor stand spread over 2 glass surface desks. (https://www.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-Soreno-3-Piece-Corner/dp/B001FB5LE8) Mostly because the desk are fairly short length-wise, and I prefer to have my keyboard and mouse on the desk, as oppose to the pull out tray. I did have the entire stand with the 3 monitors on one glass surface, for a brief duration, when I was moving furniture around, and there was no problems either.

This desk is what I have. It's a bit of a process putting it together, but when it's done it looks super nice and is a very good size. I can easily fit my bookshelf speakers, 2 monitors, and my tower (if I wanted) on one side of the 'L'. The other side just tends to get cluttered with stacks of Magic The Gathering cards :)

u/77xak · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

This is the desk if anyone cares. IMO the best desk for this cheap I've ever found.

BAM!

It is a glass desk, so you cant screw anything into it. but it works great! Took some time to assemble but was easy enough. Note that the "CPU stand" thing is virtually useless but could be used somewhere else.

had to do some basic wood work to get the monitor stand mountable

u/Moiphy · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

How is that desk working out for you? I have thought about getting it from amazon a few times but idk...

u/MidnightRider77 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

This is the black desk. I like it, bitch for cable management. Get some of the sticky things for cable ties and some industrial strength velcro. I velcro items light enough to the bottom (or the leg for my usb hub) and use the cable ties to hold the mass of cables I have (DAC, speakers, amplifier, two dvi cables, usb hub, mouse, keyboard, and keypad. The sticky cable tie things work wonders. They're linked in the sidebar of /r/CableManagement irrc and are cheap)

u/BerningTendies · 2 pointsr/battlestations

What are the curved pieces? And any idea of the exact measurement of the "back" of the U shape from corner to corner?

I MAY be doing two of these together, which fit my study area closely...although my chair may be too big.

Walker Edison Soreno 3-Piece Corner Desk, Black with Black Glass https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FB5LE8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_g87TAbKXCGX55 and it was about a year an a half old

Forgive me for the terrible formatting but I'm writing this in notes for easy copy and paste. I'm moving soon and I'm like 90% sure this will be the layout of the apartment I stay in.

I have a rough idea how I want things but I'd like some feedback and a forum to bounce ideas off. Ok so as I stated above I want it to have a SUBTLE cyberpunk feel think along the lines of:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Cyberpunk/comments/48p40k/apartment/?ref=search_posts&st=J3CV1TAX&sh=7aa1f669

Without all the clutter obviously. I want to have a simple futon where the couch is located and the tv exactly where it is in the render. to the left of the futon I want a corner desk such as:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FB5LE8/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3LMFRI393MQQT&colid=2Z9WWCIKD2PXQ

Also I should point out what got me interested in a sort of cyverpunkish is that I have a small purple neon sign that I acquired while I was living in Japan that I think would look pretty neat as some nighttime ambient lighting. I still don't know where I'd put it.

Ok so for the area where the bed is located (I plan on using the futon as my bed) I plan on putting my homelab server equipment. I'm a net admin by trade so it something I definitely plan to build. Anything else you guys could think of to help? Some nice dressers, nightstands, coffee tables and such that would fit the aesthetic I'm going for? Is my plan terrible and can you think of a better way to design the place? I'm not extremely anal about this whole thing I just wanna be comfy in my place especially since it'll be the first time I'm going to live alone.

I'm glad I got this chair, I also ordered this desk off of Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-Soreno-3-Piece-Corner/dp/B001FB5LE8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1486698159&sr=8-3&keywords=L+desk

It'll be a lot better than the weird wobbly ass desk I have now and it will compliment my chair a lot more. I'm supposed to get it Monday.

u/KataLight · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Well it depends, do you just want a good starter desk or something you can use for a good length of time without feeling like you have to get another one?Personally I have a rather small desk I thought I would like but have come to realise leaves me wishing for more space for my mouse, keyboard and assorted desk decorations (a few figures mainly). An L shape desk can be great for this https://www.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-Soreno-3-Piece-Corner/dp/B001FB5LE8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1494868308&sr=8-6&keywords=desk

There's a few more options you can find on amazon just by searching desk. I hope this was helpful.

Not die without, but I really like my desk---lots of desktop space, space for laptop, and I have my external monitor in the middle, and I have other things I can store under since I don't have a desktop tower like in the picture.

u/lbdavid19 · 2 pointsr/pcgaming

I would reccomend an L-shaped desk. They're really great for that kind of stuff. IKEA has good desks. I have one that I bought at Office Max for about $100. I can also confidently reccomend this Walker Edison glass desk. It's good quality, and very strong. It doesn't have much storage though.

This is the desk I got 2 years ago when I built my current rig. I have a 27" and a 29" monitor, and use Monitor stands to raise them up, as well as give me extra room sort of like a cubby under each monitor.

Personally though, I regret getting this desk. My old desk was a 6'x3' flat-top. (The desk was super old and couldn't be taken out of the room it was in without breaking it)

I play music, guitar mostly... L shaped or corner desks, and guitars don't work together.

Otherwise though, for only $100 this desk is a good buy. My keyboard tray is the only thing that's broken; and the keyboard tray is somewhat pointless anyway because it doesn't quite come out enough if you have a larger gaming keyboard. Had to get rid of my Blackwidow and replace it with a Corsair Vengeance K70 because the extra keys on the left-hand side of the keyboard made it too big for the tray.

u/tr1ppn · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Sooo many things. Power strips, extension cords, HDMI/AV cables are all "have some extra" because, well, you can never have too many, or know where you will need them.

Grill? You need a grill. End of story.

You said you were looking for an L-Shaped desk. I have this but black with clear glass. It's a bit small, but I really like it. With some mounts for screens to give more desk space (kb/mouse doesn't fit on the tray) it's nice. It cost me like $80, so it wasn't a huge deal. Good buy.

Also, ample trash cans, especially one in the bathroom with a lid for any lady friends you might have. An absolute must. Spare toothbrush isn't a bad idea either :P

u/getoffmypropartay · 2 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

This is the desk that I currently have. I'm thinking of building some sort of floating bed frame, but other than that I am completely open to ideas. I'm also buying a comforter so color is also undecided... Thanks

Used to own this desk a few months ago before I moved. Admittedly this one is a lot heavier than the old one, so, it's not going anywhere. That being said, I do enjoy the extra desk space it provides over the previous one.

Basically, I sit in the middle in the corner. It may sounds weird but it works. I put my keyboard slightly over the middle 90degree corner, my mouse to the side, sit in the middle (facing the corner) and have my main monitor on the corner piece, and two monitors on each side angled slightly towards me.

It has a ton of space for extra shit on the sides. My PC goes underneath in the middle, which fits perfectly with room to spare.

been great for about 100$ and two years of working and gaming.

[Here is the desk] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FB5LE8/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) as far as 3 27 i'm not too sure if it would be wise to have that much weight on the glass like that, and they would just be overwhelmingly large in comparison to the desk.

u/minorgrey · 1 pointr/oculus

I have an L shaped desk with a smaller shelving unit right next to it. The shelving unit has my computer on top and lots of storage for controllers, wacom tablets, and other stuff. The actual desk has my main monitor in front, another monitor in the bend, and a large empty space on the side. I'll end up putting my VR stuff there, including my hotas. So instead of looking at my monitor to play games, I'll be looking at a wall. I won't need to pull anything out or put anything away... it all just stays there.

Some other decent ideas were people using solid flat sided doors as a desk top and make a frame out of 2x4s or filing cabinets and just set it on top. The doorknob hole is perfect for running wires.

u/kickingpplisfun · 1 pointr/WeAreTheMusicMakers

A good(but still cheap) L-shaped desk. It's not perfect, but everything's at roughly the same height(some of them have multiple levels), and you'll have plenty of desk space for monitors of both types, controllers/interfaces, and notes. You'll also want other furniture like a comfy desk chair because you'll be in your studio a lot.

I'm currently working with two thrift-store desks, but this desk is looking promising for when I get a few hundred extra dollars to buy more studio stuff(I'm kind of broke right now).

As far as electronics go, an upgrade to your (computer)keyboard and mouse is a good idea so you can make certain assign certain things in your DAW to more convenient places like a thumb button on your mouse.

I got this sexy motherfucker on amazon over a year ago after reading and watching for a few months. Comes in black and clear, and has two leg design (ones all straight and the other is curvy). The keyboard tray didn't fit in very well and is uncomfortable, I just use it for extra storage. This also comes as a single writing desk which is identical to the linked desk with out the side or corner piece. You can also by multiple pieces and link then together. The price bounces between 120 and 150 (I believe it went up when they had low stock)

The glass is completely reflective with a dark tint, you can also get coffee tables or book shelves that look exactly the same

On the desk I linked above, I have 3x 28" montiors, 2x keyboards (one for PC and one for Xbox One) and still have room to eat food or sketch things out on paper if needed.

I bought this one on amazon about a year ago and its pretty nice. "Walker Edison Soreno 3-Piece Corner Desk, Black with Black Glass" Its obviously glass and difficult to clean, i would recommend coasters if you buy it. But the price is good and its on sale right now. https://www.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-Soreno-3-Piece-Corner/dp/B001FB5LE8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1511995783&sr=8-4&keywords=desk

Personally if I could do it all over again I would have saved for a none L shaped regular or standing desk like Uplift. They are more durable, easier to clean, easier to move, and provides more long term space where you can actually sit at it and see everything using a keyboard without turning your chair to look at your other monitors. I have to move my chair or my neck to look at my third monitor so dont love it. But for the price I am extremely happy and will save for a really nice desk when I move into my house early next year.

Walker Edison 3 Piece - Multi-color (The cheapest)

Pretty sturdy and spacious for the price.

This is what I got and I like it, I didnt install the keyboard tray because I dont like them so its not necessary. You can put your monitor/mouse/keyboard on one side and the part that wraps around you can put whatever extra stuff you want.

This is not an exact L, but fits in a corner like a charm.

If you live outside USA it's going to cost a little though :)
For me it was around 320€ total, where as a little bit bigger IKEA Galant was around 270€ I believe? Maybe it's just my country but very expensive. IMO this Walker Edison corner desk looks awesome.

I was thinking about checking out Ikea now I'm sure I need to. ATM I have this but my tower literally takes up an entire side of the L desk and my printer hangs off the corner.

all i did was not install the peices to make it an "L" and bolted the 2 normal desk pieces together, mine also didnt come with any kind of keyboard tray but this is the link i used so if you get one it may not be the exact same desk. i also plain out wouldn't recommend this desk. glass desks are a huge gamble and can easly break and even randomly explode for no reason due to manufacturing defects in the glass wich is an even bigger gamble and if i could i would have traded in the desk for a diffrent one and dont plan to use this desk for very long.

Currently have a desk like this and setup is about the same as pic. I have a MSI Armor RX 580 4GB which I hear runs hot anyways.

Only gripe I have is you have to make sure the bolts on the keyboard tray are tight or it will fall off... but I'm pleased with it. I have a 27 in monitor on it, an av receiver, and 3 game consoles on it.

Pretty much had the same journey as you.
From a glass setup: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FB5LE8
To a wooden Ikea desk: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S69006392/#/S29006394

The glass desk just got dusty way too easily and was a bit too cramped for my 2 x 27" monitors to enjoy. Not to mention I had to rest a towel or similar on it if I wished to enjoy a hot beverage or breakfast. Too much hassle.

I have this desk. I don't use four monitors, just one, but it may be large enough and has a designated place for the keyboard.
