Are you sure that the acetate sheets are laser compatible? If the material isn't made to withstand the heat of the fuser, it can deform or melt inside the printer causing permanent damage or a fire.
With the exception of expensive specialized printers used in the medical industry (x-ray imaging printers that can print directly onto transparent media), I've never head of a consumer-class laser printer that is designed for printing on acetates. That being said, most laser printers should be able to accept this type of media for printing, as long as it's manufactured to withstand the intense heat of the fuser and bonds readily with the melted toner powder used by the printer to create an image.
You would probably get higher quality from a professional inkjet printer and premium transparent media. You can get a Canon PIXMA Pro-100 professional inkjet printer right now for $130 after rebate. This will get you huge 13x19" paper handling (13x26" panorama size is possible through an undocumented process).
