Two great books for you that address a slew of questions exactly like yours (both by Neil Comins):
A short answer about the fast spinning one: Wicked fast wind that would have made plant life as we know it impossible. Lichens and boulder-like stumpy trees, maybe, but that's it. And this would be the case if we didn't have the moon slowing down our rotation.
