If you enjoy Ian's random Larry Bird stories on the show, I highly recommend reading When The Game Was Ours, a history of Magic and Larry's rivalry written by Larry, Magic and Jackie MacMullan. For example, after winning the title in '86, Larry just went home after the game. Teammate Bill Walton had no place to crash so he asked to stay with Larry. Larry (after WINNING AN NBA TITLE) just goes to bed while Walton stayed up and listened to Grateful Dead record in Larry's kitchen.
When the Game Was Ours. Absolutely excellent book. It might help if whoever you're buying it for is a Celtics or Lakers fan or was just around to see them play. But even if they aren't, it's an awesome book.
