You can find one for about $20 at GameStop, maybe even cheaper if used. I've used this guy since day one and prefer it to the existing jack in the controller since it has volume/mute controls right there, saving you from having to open menus every time you need to adjust something. Well worth the price and will work perfectly.

The real question is how poorly will cross-platform and exclusive games alike run on a console in 5+ years from now? Will it be running at 720p with less than 24 fps during combat like The Last Of Us? Will it be 720p/always >24 fps like GTA5 with significant pop in? Will it be a Skyrim so ugly it's unrecognizable from the PC version? Will it use interlacing to deal with hardware constraints that makes any and all motion a blur like in Killzone? (Oops, that one is PS4 launch) Will its multiplats be upscaled and out performed by bottom of the barrel hardware like Titanfall?

Yes, it will be. That's what you're trying to say is a good thing. Low resolution with less than the absolutely minimum frame rate needed to create the illusion of motion [that cinematic creators found].

Five years down the line the player with the PC will say to himself "Gee, I'll spend $200-300 on an upgrade." And the person with the console will spend $600 minimum on top of continuing their subscription dues and proceed to re-buy 'definitive' additions of their games that were already lower in fidelity than their PC versions. Pay $25 to buy an adapter just to re-use your headset again.

If they're anything like my xp500's, you have to buy an adapter for it. I got one on amazon for $30, and the turtle beach headset cord for like $10. They sound great and I haven't had any problems with it, I can enjoy my games loud late at night with no one yelling at me to turn it down now lol.

As others have stated, it does on newer controllers. If you don't want to buy a new controller, just get the chat adapter. It does the same thing.

There’s an attachment from Xbox that gives you this ability I believe. It’s necessary for old Xbox One controllers that didn’t have a headphone jack but should work on the newer controllers. (I don’t have one, but I think that’s what it’s for)

Every headset (aside from the mono-ear headsets) will play the game's audio & chat through the headset. You can even plug a standard pair of headphones/earbuds in the 3.5mm jack on the bottom of the controller.

I have the Cloud 1, but from what I've seen compared between the 1 and 2, it looks like the USB card has a 3.5 mm female end to put the headphones into, and a USB on the other. So it can only be used on a computer. If you're looking for volume buttons (with individual game and voice volume controls), get the xbox controller headset adapter and plug any 3.5 mm headphone into it, including the Cloud 1 or 2

You'd need to get one of the Stereo Headset Adaptors then, that will give you a 3.5mm jack to use.

This is a shopping list for an Xbox One mixer setup similar to mine and you may need some help filling in a few gaps and the wiring!

So the idea is to build a setup to be able to use an awesome mic to talk to the stream as well as party chat ‘at the same time’ (which I prefer over using a headset) but to also be able to hear game/chat/PC audio though a single pair of headphones and control their volume levels in one place with ease.

I don't need sound going out to my PC as the Cap card is getting that from the Console via HDMI.

This thing. I originally got it for the 3.5mm adapter, but now I use it because it lets you modify volume levels on the go. Left side changes which is louder - party or game. Right side changes overall volume level. Middle button mutes your mic - which is a godsend for someone with allergies who doesn't wanna blast sneezes into their headset.

I'd say number one is friends, what console do you're friends play on? Second exclusives and then everything else. I have had that issue. This is one way you can do it: You need the stereo headset adapter (obviously), an external mic like the ModMic or a clip on mic like this one and an adapter like this one to merge the signals into one jack compatible with the Xbox One. It would be much simpler if the cable was removable lol.

I have some wired Turtle Beaches that I use with my Xbox One, and Rock Band 4. They don't plug into my drums -You will need to plug headphones into your controller. The older controllers require the adapter and chat mixer, but the newer XB1 controllers have a 3.5 mm jack directly on them. Any 3.5mm headphones will work for those. If your controller does not have a 3.5mm jack in it, you can either buy a new controller or get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset-Adapter/dp/B00IAVDOS6/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1481651849&sr=1-2&keywords=xbox+one+headset+adapter. I don't notice any audio lag, so I don't think that's an issue at all - I play on expert, so lag would be super noticeable.

Here's how I do it. Living in an apartment and playing late at night, you have to be quiet as possible. I turn my drums on and use them (obviously). I keep my controller turned on as well and have my TB's plugged into it, and I get the game audio just fine, as loud as I want it too, without making a sound on my TV. On the 360, I used to do the same thing while playing with my brother - I'd use headphones, he would not. He played expert guitar, I played expert drums. There was no lag for either of us and it was enjoyable.

This is a totally viable way to play, and I enjoy it a lot more, especially when drumming. The sound of the music completely drowns out the clicking and clacking made by the drums, and it's super awesome. Let me know how it works out for you!

The x12 headset requires stereo RCA (red & white) audio jacks to get game audio, and the Xbox One does not provide that. So, you will need something else, and that "something" depends on the rest of your setup. Check for an audio output on the stereo system or TV you plug your Xbone into. If none is available, you can use the Xbone's optical output and something to convert it to RCA -- here is one example I found just searching for "Optical to RCA".

Also, the chat cable (that goes from the headset to the 360 controller) will not plug in to the Xbone controller directly; you will need the Stereo Headset Adapter. Plug it in, and then use the balance controls on the adapter to be completely on "chat", so that it only emits chat audio and not game audio.

Note that you can get away with just using the Stereo Headset Adapter to get both game and chat audio through the controller and the chat cable, but in my experience with the x41 headset, it sounds like crap, because the headset is expecting a mono chat audio source and processes it as such.

Honestly, for the price and hassle, you'd be better off just picking up the Stereo Headset. You'll get the same stereo quality of the x12, but it's just using a single cable connection to your controller, and it'll cost as much or less as the equipment you'd need to get the x12 hooked up.

It looks like a standard PC headset, which means it is not compatible out of the box, but you can use it with an Xbox One if you don't mind buying a few more things.

The first thing you'll need is the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter. This attaches to your controller.

Your headset has two 3.5mm plugs: one for stereo sound (green plug) and one for the microphone (pink plug). The Stereo Headset Adapter has an input for a special kind of 3.5mm plug which can transmit stereo sound and microphone sound at the same time. So you need to buy an adapter cable like this one which will convert your two 3.5mm plugs into a single plug carrying both stereo and microphone sound.

With those two things, you would attach the headset adapter to the controller, plug your green and pink plugs from your headset into the adapter cable, and finally plug the single end of the adapter cable into the headset adapter. You'll be able to hear game sound through your headset and use the microphone to chat over Xbox Live.

Have been told multiple times the MCC runs stable enough and that Halo 5 was a very good game.
One caveat though, the xbox one does have a tendency to be an abolute turd sometimes (games crashing, party chat not always working.) I don't think these issues are related to my internet (340 down 85 up) but just things you get used too.

Looks like it costs twice as much as it used to now. If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably been discontinued, but I really don't know.

I came across the same issue when i was using a monitor with no headphone jack so i picked up one of these to solve the audio issue.

but this was before they came out with the headset adapter. In the case of audio i would just go ahead and buy the Controller Adapter and use whatever headphones you have or you could spend a bit more and just get the Microsoft stereo headset.

Yea quick question. I have all the cables I need for this except for the Headset adapter, which I purchased a few days ago used on Amazon(hasn't arrived yet). I understand you need 4 poles on the 3.5 end of the adapter but I just noticed Amazon's official picture of the adapter shows only 3 poles on the 3.5 end. It's a four pole plug not a 3 pole plug meaning it's meant for a mic in plus stereo out and ground I believe. You need something like THIS then you should be able to use whatever headphones and mic you want. I have senheiser hd598 and mod mic 4.0 and it works great. Though you may want THIS as well to control volume more easily.

It's my understanding that with a HDMI-DVI (one end is hdmi and the other is dvi) that you lose the sound signal. i had a similar setup with my xbox 360 and i was forced to buy a sound adapter that plugged directly into the 360.

To be clear, you ordered this and this, correct? The first item should come with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm aux cord adapter, so that headsets designed for Xbox 360 can work with Xbox One. Did yours not include that adapter?

I would like to use a pair of headphones (sound only, no mic) to be less intrusive to my roommates while playing casual, single player games (Red Dead 2). I'm thinking through the easiest, most cost-effective way to do that with an original Xbox One console. Any thoughts on these options:

You mean this? It can't connect directly to a headset, it goes through the controller, either using the adapter to convert it to a regular 3.5" combined headphone/speaker jack, or using the official headset that plugs straight into the controller.

You will need to buy a turtle beach chat adapter cable then because that is how you will get voice to work on the Xbox one. It could be used with the 360 too but you can also just keep the Bluetooth puck plugged in.

If you own the newer controllers with the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the bottom then that adapter will allow you to chat on the Xbox one. The chat cable it came with works without that adapter on the 360 because the 360 has a 2.5 mm jack in it already.

The receiver it came with will need to be plugged into the back of whichever console you are going to be playing on. So if your playing on the 360 with the headphones playing and want to use them on the one that receiver will have to be then plugged into the one. If the consoles are in close proximity just plugging in the optical cable will work.

Nothing really quick for using your Audio Technicas. You'll need a new chat adapter, something like a Modmic for external microphone (pretty decent, actually), and a headset adapter cable that will take the mic 3.5mm and 3.5mm from headphones down to a single, 4-pole connector to go into the chat adapter.

I was in the same boat. I bought the controller adapter which also comes with a jack size converter. Because of that I have been able to use my old xbox 360 headset which I really like.

You can also use mic-in headphones you use for a phone. Although you can't use Apples. Samsung and Skullcandy work. $25 for controller adapter and $10 for headphones. You can often find 360 headphones for around $10 as well. You can also find super cheap chat headsets on Amazon for $5-$10, but honestly the black 360 chat set is great for what it is - simple chat headset

Yes that's exactly what I mean. The TRRS adapter would be something like this one. The headset goes in the base of the 'Y', and that splits the headset out to two 3.5mm ports- one is 'mic' (which connects the headset microphone to channel 1), the other is 'speaker' which connects the headset speakers to the Phones output. You'll want some 3.5mm to 1/4" phono adapters to plug into the board's 1/4" connectors.

Consoles are a whole separate issue. I can't speak for PS4 as I only have an Xbox.

What you'll need to do is use the 3.5mm TRRS headset port on the bottom of your controller. If you have an older controller without that port, MS makes a plug-in adapter which gives you the 3.5mm port. You plug into that a TRRS Splitter (note this is similar to what you used for the headset, but the genders are reversed- the base of the 'Y' is male, and it goes into the device).
From there, we just reuse the connectors that go to the computer. The cable that connects the computer's speaker out to ch5/6 gets reused to plug into the Xbox TRRS adapter speaker out, and the cable that connects the board's aux send to the computer's mic input port goes to the Xbox TRRS mic port. If you want to keep both wired up you can, but you'll need a splitter for the Aux Send cable and another 3.5mm to dual mono 1/4 cable, this one will plug the Xbox's speaker out into Ch4/5 on the mixer.

BTW if you need a stereo 3.5mm to dual 1/4" mono cable, here's one. The white one is left, red one is right channel.

If you want to plug in Xbox, AND PS4, AND PC at the same time without swapping cables you will need a bigger mixer. I suggest check with me before you order one.

You say the sound playing on the phones is 'off', do you mean it sounds bad or it doesn't play? I'm guessing maybe your TRRS adapter has the wrong genders on it and thus you aren't splitting things right...

You could also dump the A40s and go with a headset that has dual stereo minijacks natively like this one for $15. If you got that, you'd just get two 3.5mm to 1/4" phono adapters, use them to plug the green (speaker) plug into the Phones port and the red (mic) plug into Channel 1.

FYI: If you are using an Xbox One controller with the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter and using Apple headphones (the free ones that come with an iPhone), the mic will put out a constant stream of "ANNNNHHHHHHHHHH".

I use a pair of Turtle Beach X42 which I have been using since the Xbox 360 and it uses a 2.5. When I got the Xbox One I had to buy a Stereo Headset Adapter to be able to still use the headset. I've went through 3 of these since the release of adapter. When I purchased them they were $25 now they're $80. Now I'm trying to figure which of the two I can use because even though they're similar they're not the same.

I tried using the 3.5mm plug instead but didnt get the quality that I wanted. Also can have it bluetooth bound to your phone, and answer calls while gaming.

I had my X11s set up using the following method and it worked. I had to buy the following things:

Xbox One Headset adapter

Optical to RCA converter

Optical Cable

You'll plug one end of your optical cable into your Xbox One and the other end into the Optical port on the Converter. Then, plug your red and white RCA connectors on your X11s into the Red and White jacks on the Converter (you now have game audio).

For chat, there should be a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter that comes with the XB1 headset adapter. Use that.

This is how I used my X11s when the adapter first game out.





Another possibility I just thought of while typing this up is using something like a PC-headset to Smartphone Adapter. In theory this should work, but I have not tested it so i cannot guarantee it.

In this scenario, you'd simply take the Pink and Green 3.5mm connectors on the X11s and plug them directly into Mic and Speaker Jacks and then plug that adapter into your controller.

I think you need the stereo adapter. The 3.5mm jack is just an audio output if I recall. The stereo adapter is required for all 3rd party headsets to work correctly.

You're going to need the headset adapter. You can definitely find it cheaper.

Personally, If I were you I would just go ahead and buy a new pair of headphones compatible with the xboxone. I say this, because almost nothing uses RCA cables anymore, and they are just out dated. Something like the Turtle Beach XO Fours comes with the chat adapter, and are made for use with the xbox one.

Now of course, you may not want to go that route, and if that is the case, then you will want something like this to convert the vga to hdmi (If im understanding how you have everything set up correctly). Then you will need the chat adapter to use chat.

I would reccomend going with option 1 of course, because you will most likely end up spending $50 anyway, just to setup your old stuff, when for a bit more you can get something new which requires nothing else.

Personally since I have the PS4, I chose the Playstation Wireless Gold Stereo Headset paired with the Official Headset Adapter. The sound is great and it's amazingly comfortable. You're able to plug it into cell phones, computers, and anything with an auxiliary input! It runs for $99, but I suppose that for $79 you can get the official Xbox Headset too, though it only works with the Xbox One.

I'd get a good set of headphones. Do a bit of research to find the best pair that fits your budget. I own the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250Ohms. I'm happy with it. It's an open back headset so sound will leak in and out. If you prefer more isolation, look into closed back or semi-open.

Get the headset adapter for the Xbox One for $25.49.

Add a clip on mic like this Zalman Zm-Mic1 for $7.56.

Finally, you'll need a 3.5 mm splitter to join the headphones and mic. The thing you want to make sure is that there are three stripes on the plug. If you look at the plug on your typical set of headphones, you'll notice the plug only has two stripes. For the adapter, you have to make sure there are three stripes cause that's what allows you to combine the microphone and headset. Here are a couple of options: 1 and 2.

For my exact set up, you're looking at exactly $183 before taxes. You'll have a much better pair of headphones than what you'd get if you went with a Turtle Beach headset that's in the same price range.

You'll need a chat headset or an adapter to use other headsets.

Then you'll need to also buy the adapter for the controller from Microsoft. This will be the more expensive purchase as I think I bought my headset converter for about $5.

If you are using the updated Xbox one controllers with a 3.5mm jack, the shp9500/BoomPro combination will work just fine.

If you are still using the original Xbox one contollers, this adapter would be needed.

For pc, they work well. I have had no issues at all. Highly recommended.

Not sure what's happening, but I would definitely just get the headset adapter. I use it and it allows me to choose how much music/sound to chat ratio there is. It also has volume controls on it, which is nice.

I'm a dad too (she's turning 1 next month!), so I really appreciate having those volume controls when having to pay attention to the baby monitor when playing.

On the adapter, the left two buttons balance between game audio and chat. Should just be able to adjust to more game side.

I'm more concerned that my computer never recognized the mic as an audio input source.

I have x12s as well, but I have a different setup. My setup is the 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable that came with the Xbox One Stereo Headset adapter for party and game chat, and I use the green plug into my TV for game audio.

I would say try and get the Stereo Headset adapter that has the 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable.

It's easier than you'd think, though. Until I found the one that came with my console, I used my apple earbuds. I'm told some controllers have the right jack built in, but I had to buy this and use it.

No matter what you choose a headset is going to require multiple wires. For mic quality no gaming headset is going to give you good quality (and they'll give you even worse sound quality). This setup is around the same as the Astros with their mixamp and is infinitely better quality in both sound and mic along with comfort.
