My absolute favorite is Yeah Yeah Yeah: The Story of Modern Pop written by Bob Stanley (of Saint Etienne). He breaks down different genres of music and his insight/stories are fantastic. That book just blew me away.

I'm currently reading Sticky Fingers: The Life and Times of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine and I can see why Wenner did not want this book published. I think Joe Hagan has really gotten the story right and that means not casting a positive or negative light on Wenner - just letting Wenner's actions let you form an opinion. It's also fun to read this book as one of my professors from college was in a few chapters.
