The basic principles of a good notebook cooler are:

  1. Metal (usually aluminum) construction,
  2. The pad should be completely covered in holes without any flat areas to block potential airflow,
  3. As much general airflow as possible, which usually translates into one big fan.

    Based on those features, my pick is the Zalman NC-3000.
