Amazon, as always! :D I got the 14" Zinus bed frame based off a friend's recommendation (link is to king size) but I'm already kind of wishing I'd gotten the 16" high version after I got a closer look at the limitations of the 14" (only 13" high bins, and the braces on the ends mean you only get to put the tall bins in the middle.)

It was surprisingly inexpensive, and I'm very much looking forward to the lack of box springs. And the cat is looking forward to having enough clearance to actually stand upright when he crawls under the bed. LOL.

Speaking of which, I should get off the Internet and back to my project, I'm just 6 bolts away from being rid of the old bed!

I have one. I was extremely skeptical because I'm really picky about mattresses, but my partner had heard good things, and we needed one, so we got one. We've had it for about 2 months.

A large part of the reason I'm picky is that my body is very curvy (wide hips, big ass, small waist), so I need a mattress that is squishy enough to accommodate that and yet somehow also supportive. I am normally a stomach sleeper and/or roll around all night trying to get comfortable, but I find that I mostly fall asleep and wake up on my back now. That's pretty amazing in itself.

Overall, I would recommend it. They have a good return/refund policy. They offer a free squishy addon pad if after a month or so you still feel like it's not soft enough. I have also read that showroom perception of mattresses generally doesn't have any correlation with longterm satisfaction. Basically, I can vouch for the fact that the Casper probably won't hurt you, and it will last longer than a spring mattress at an equivalent price.

For me, it's not the kind of mattress that I associate with "luxury". I don't sink into it like I'm laying on a cloud. But that's not good for your back anyway. It's more that it's just consistently supportive. I don't wake up in pain. And, best of all, I didn't have to go to a showroom and lay on a bunch of mattresses and get hassled/hustled by a salesperson gunning for a commission. We ordered it online while we were moving and it was delivered directly to the new place. I lay on it and it doesn't hurt me. So it checks all the boxes for me.

[Edit] Btw, we have it on one of these basic wire bed frames. Many reviewers also have a Casper and they say it works fine. So I don't think it matters that much what you put it on.

actually, i'd try amazon. we got a really amazing mattress, topper, and headboard/bed frame for about $1000 and they delivered right to our door.

if you are looking for something cheaper, this mattress is shockingly comfortable - we have it in our guest room and my VERY picky best friend loved it. you can get a great bed frame for cheap, too, there are a bunch on amazon.

i'm all for shopping local, but easy is also important.

It is this one, but it is folded up in a corner of my house right now so no photo.

Go to mattress firm and try out a Tulo Firm, it is pretty firm, comes in at 700 right now.

Target has a wide variety of sheets, you can get a king set for less than 55 typically (https://www.target.com/s/threshold+king+sheets)

If you are a Costco member or know someone I think they have some sheet sets that are less when on sale.

Mattress Protector: Luna: https://www.amazon.com/Luna-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof-Mattress-Protector/dp/B002AQPUW0/

Or Coop - home goods mattress protector: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UKHSNYI/

Both are good choices, $50, luna is a cotton jersey feel, coop is a more smooth and ever so slightly thicker feel.

Foundation: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006MIVR06 , basic zinus metal frame, 67

Another zinus more traditional slatted option: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07199DPJM 95

Comes out to around 875-900 before tax. Leaves enough for a comforter or blanket. I am sure there are cheaper options for everything I've posted, but those are all products I've tested and at least are familiar with them.

If you want to be adventurous and try a DIY mattress (not very difficult) I can recommend some parts that might work out within your budget too.

Ill just give you links.
This one is firmer than the other one, and while it is noticeable, it isn't any less comfortable. I can fall asleep on my friends bed just like mine.

this is the one I have, which is squishier, but some of that is also our different frame.

One is cheaper than the other, and has a 10 year warranty instead of 25. They are both nice, I would just make the call based on preference of soft and firm. They come in a box, and you have to leave them out for at least a day so the foam can uncompress. Neither of us had any issue with it smelling. It has a smell because its new, but disappears in a day or two.

stay away from the handy living wood slat frame, the wood doesn't last, especially if you are um....persistent in the bedroom. My friend bought this one, and we both agree it is better.

both have good clearance, so you can store stuff under the bed. If you don't have the 100ish extra, you can always save and just sit the mattress on the ground until you can afford it.

I got this mattress and this frame along with this mattress protector. I've been happy so far and I am sleeping better than before. I have lower back issues and need good support. This is a firm mattress and it takes a couple minutes for you to sink in, especially the first month. After the first month or so it does not take as long for the foam to shape to you.

I bought a $110 metal frame from Amazon for my new serta memory foam mattress. It hasn't arrived yet, but it has thousands of great reviews, so I figure it is a pretty good bet. No foundation is required with this type of frame. Link

Good afternoon,

I’m trying to build a king sized futon bed, using a metal frame (like this: Sleep Master Platform Metal Bed Frame/Foundation (King) - Perfect for Spring, Latex, and Memory Foam Mattresses https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006MIVR06/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_v6nTCbPCCC9B4 ) I’m not sure how to attach the hinges to make it work right, along with how/where to attach the back bar to hold it the couch position.

Thanks!
