Fear cuts deeper than swords

  1. Something that is grey - Wreck This Journal! A post on /r/travel turned me on to this nifty little book that encourages you to do and look at those things you might not otherwise on your vacations and trips. Main WL
  2. Something reminiscent of Rain Freshwater Pearl Drop Earrings. This one may be a stretch, but as soon as I read the item list I thought of these. I've always liked calling them rain drops instead of tear drops. Main WL

  3. Something food related that is unusual I didn't think the frying pan on my list would really count as "unusual", hope this counts as "food related." These are a set of vitamins that I saved for my fiance; he loves his drink, and I love him to be healthy. Main WL
  4. Something on your list for someone else This pinstripe fedora is for my fiance. He's had an identical fedora since we began dating several years ago and he's incredibly sentimental about it. The poor thing is worn out though, and I'm not sure if it can be restored. If it can't, I'm hoping he'll be able to learn to love a new one so that we can retire the original respectfully. Main WL
  5. Something related to cats I hope that this counts even though I just noticed it's become unavailable! This reminds me of the book Catzilla that was read to me in elementary school and seems perfect for my own vicious kitties. Main WL
  6. A book you should read I will shamelessly endorse Karen Miller's writing everywhere I go and to everyone I meet. Seriously. She's fantastic. Poor reviews on Amazon, but I chock that up to people not understanding proper plot development. You can trust me on that, I almost have a degree. Books WL
  7. Something for less than $1.00 This was not on my list previously, but it makes me feel sympathy towards home-school moms to need such a tranquil book cover.
  8. Something that is not useful Being able to do calligraphy isn't really a useful art these days, but whenever I see those strokes on /r/penmanshipporn I feel I simply must learn how to do it. It's beautiful. And my handwriting is dreadful. Main WL
  9. A movie that everyone should watch My Neighbor Totoro! I actually just watched this myself for the first time last week! It's just one of those movies that makes you happy and leaves you with a smile. We all need those movies for the days that just get to be too much. Main WL
  10. Something useful for when the zombies attack It doubles as a weapon AND a tool. Can't always buy replacements when the undead are running amok! Main WL
  11. Something that would have a profound impact on your life Fitness has become very important to me in the last year or so and I would like very much to one day have a home gym so that I might always keep myself healthy and fit. This particular item would help me tone my stubborn tummy area and is one of my favorite tools at the gym I work out in. Main WL
  12. Add-on item Just my luck, I would discover add-on items the day this contest begins. I did add these before I saw the contest, but last night I began researching hair products and came across John Frieda. Ordered one product already, hoping to try out these others soon! Main WL
  13. The most expensive item on your list Oh boy. I guess my dream item is actually a toothbrush. My fiance has awful brushing habits. His parents just never really made him do it. Since we've gotten together I've kind of taken up a "mom" role in this area and made sure that he cleans his teeth daily, but there's damage to his gums from neglect. I did a lot of research on the products on the market and this seems like the best tool to help him get healthier gums. He's not totally on board with spending so much on a toothbrush, but I want and need him to be healthy in every way. You know? Main WL
  14. Something bigger than a breadbox The rolling massager is your best friend and your worst enemy at the gym. Using this item after your workout helps to minimize your soreness the next day, but I won't lie. It hurts a bit to use. Main WL
  15. Something smaller than a golf ball Who doesn't love jewelry for your ears? Jewelry WL
  16. Something that smells wonderful Eucalyptus oil! Main WL
  17. A SFW toy I saw this on Top Gear UK and I must have it. When asked by a friend why I would ever need such a thing, I promptly responded, “For when I go spelunking.” Toys WL
  18. Something helpful for going back to school As an English major, I have to buy a LOT of books. My poor overburdened bookshelf is in desperate need of relief. If this weren't my last year, I would absolutely have to buy another bookshelf. As it stands, I'll have to buy a new one soon regardless. Avid readers live here. Main WL
  19. Something related to my current obsession I am an unashamed, unapologetic Whovian.
    Main WL
  20. Something awe inspiring - speaking of Whovians Isn't this fantastic? I've always said the best thing after a bath is the snuggle up with the TARDIS. Gifts WL
  21. Made in Oregon - I've been doing this contest since 7 a.m. I could use this right about now

WHEW. That took way longer than I thought it would but I think I found everything but what your name is! Thanks for the contest, I had a blast!

Hey OP, did you happen to catch my reply on your first post a couple days ago? I EP and have struggled with my supply several times and I just want to help in any way I can. Again I'm so so so sorry for your situation. I'll repost what I said just in case, and I do have other ideas as well in regards to pumping if things still aren't changing for your output. It's so important to augment from the inside out, nutritionally and mentally and emotionally. Calories and water are paramount to boosting supply.

One thing I forgot to mention is power pumping. Pump 20 minutes, rest for ten, pump for 15 minutes, rest for 10, pump 10 minutes, rest. This mimics clusterfeeding and you can do it twice a day in place of two normal sessions if you are needing a significant boost. Continue with normal sessions otherwise, which I recommend you do every 2-2.5 hours rather than 3 if you can. Don't forget to keep those nips lubricated to prevent cracking/irritation. Express a couple drops of milk and let that air dry on your nipples and follow with coconut oil or lanolin cream if it's more severe. I've also heard good things about olive oil if you have that on hand but I haven't tried it. Warm showers are not only great for healing, but help with letdown. You could also try hot towels on your breasts right before you pump and keep them there until they are no longer hot.

Oh and one other thing, generally looking at pictures and videos of your baby while you pump is a good thing, and I'm not saying you shouldn't. But if you feel yourself getting stressed or sad when you look at them I wouldn't do it while you're pumping. Definitely whenever else you want to though!!! When you pump try to watch an interesting show, read, play a video game, maybe get your mind off of it more to help your body relax.

I am sooo feeling for you. You are in my thoughts!! ❤

"First, have a huge bowl of oatmeal (real, whole oats) and throw in a bunch of flaxseed.

Try taking the max dose of fenugreek/blessed thistle. You should see a difference in 24-48 hours. Fenugreek Seed Extract & Blessed Thistle Lactation Supplement By Breast & Baby

Make yourself some broth-y soup with good veggies and protein and add in a few generous scoops of this Solgar – Brewer’s Yeast Powder and drink a Guinness or your favorite milk stout with it. You deserve a drink anyways. Eat the soup as much as you want!

You might be able to find these things at a pharmacy or natural grocer if you don't want to wait for them to ship.

Seriously, about 120 oz of water a day or more. And I agree with the massaging your breast tip. Mess around with your pump settings and don't hurt yourself, but sometimes for me I need stronger suction to see good production."

I had a c section and my milk didn't come in until day 6 pp! We had to supplement before that. On top of that, my nipples were really flat and LO had a case of torticollis that made feeding at the breast near impossible. I offered the breast, then supplemented, then pumped every three hours for several days and it was HARD, especially that first week pp when I was insanely hormonal and depressed. At the hospital he only got a few mls at a time of colostrum-I just didnt make that much and/or I was having to pump and hand express instead of him nursing to get it.

We are 7 weeks out now and I have been EFB since about 12 days pp. We are using nipple shields which I hate, but my supply is good and LO is gaining weight like a beast. Because of early supplementing he goes back and forth between breast and bottle pretty easily which is great for when my boobies need a break or if I need to have someone watch him for a few hours.

I totally understand that anxiety about breastfeeding and wanting so desperately for it to work out. I know it is insanely hard, but keep pumping after every feed and you will be fine. Right now you are "in the shit" and it will get better, I promise.

I also took this supplement early one which I think helped-might have even given me some oversupply early on. Hugs and good luck!

Hi! I’m back!!
Although I thoroughly intend to write my birth story when I’m ready, I just finished my first piece since the baby arrived so in celebration, I’ll pair it with something useful.

I really appreciated posts like this while I was pregnant so here goes:

Things I didn’t know I needed:
(AKA things I have frantically ordered on amazon at or around 2am)

Bottle Drying Rack This probably seems obvious, but when we didn’t get this from our showers we were like... idk why we can’t just use a towel??

Safe way to cosleep My husband built a BEAUTIFUL Sidecar Crib, but it was attached on my side of the bed and it took 2.5 weeks for me to have healed enough to climb in bed around it safely with the baby. This way, I didn’t have to bend over to pick up baby or even spit up to check on/soothe him.

Lactation Suppliment My lactation consultant approved. This one worked well in my breakfast tea.

Better flanges My poor nipples were so sore and the flames that come with the Medela... well I’m not sure who they’re supposed to fit but not me. My doula practically ordered these for me. GAME CHANGER.

Pumping bra I was cutting holes in sports bras. This is better.

Nipple Shells Another kind reddittor sent me in the direction of this AMAZING INVENTION after I posted a photo of ice packs tied to my nipples with a burp cloth because I refused to wear a shirt my nipples hurt so bad. I will be purchasing these for EVERY PREGNANT WOMAN FOREVER. They keep your nipples dry, collect drips, apply counter pressure to keep your nipples shaped correctly for latching, and most importantly omg nothing touches the precious nips and you can wear a shirt!!

Car mirror

Me: that seems extra, he’s in a car seat and safe why would I need a mirror??

Hormones; HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH YOU FOOL

Car adapter for my breast pump Cheaper than batteries

Shade for his side of the car because anything that wakes up my sleeping baby is the devil. This one has a bonus that allowed me to roll the window down and it was HOT in the south

Better suction for the breast pump Again- just better than whatever they send you

My Breast Friend we got the boppy but this one saved my back

Heating pad Turns out I’ll do ANYTHING to keep the baby asleep when I transfer him to his crib including preheat the darn thing (on low!) before I lay home down

Stroller Caddy You’ll want somewhere to put your keys, phone, and coffee

Baby K’tan An easier way for my husband to wear the baby.

Leggings I had a pair of these before, and they are SO COMFORTABLE on my postpartum body that I bought 5 more in different colors!

•Extra pump parts for whichever pump you have

•A hands-up swaddle I found at Target

•Wine.

Anyway, hope this helps! Best of luck to all of you!

u/smellyk520 · 2 pointsr/breastfeeding

My husband took cell phone videos of my son while he was in the NICU that I watched while I pumped, and I kept a blanket with his smell on it around me when I was having initial supply issues.

Lots of water, oatmeal and I tried a few supplements. I’m not sure how much the supplements help (honestly) but this is what I’m using now at the recommendation of the NICU LC: Motherlove - More Milk Special Blend, Herbal Breastfeeding Supplement w/Goat's Rue, Supports Mammary Tissue Development & Breast Milk Supply, Traditional Liquid Tincture with Organic Herbs, 2 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JY1DKI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_tuzWDbC1FJCYK

I also had luck increasing my supply by power pumping 3x a day. This was hard for me to keep up with at home, but manageable while my son was in the NICU and I had a lot of time on my hands in the hospital.

I still have to supplement one bottle of formula a day, but I feel good to be able to provide most of my sons nutrition as breastmilk. I was pretty upset when I had to start supplementing, but a hungry baby is not a happy baby. Pumping is more manageable for me now that I’m more comfortable with a little formula.

Good luck!

u/girlonbike · 1 pointr/crunchymommit

That sounds really tough. I'm sorry you and your LO are going through this.
I guess in this situation I would maybe try focusing on increasing milk supply since that seems like the only thing he is showing any interest in. I just met a woman who's supply had dropped significantly and she said she had great success by drinking a REALLY hoppy beer in the evenings and taking Mother Love "More Milk". It is available as a tincture or capsules http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JY1DKI/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000JY1DKI&linkCode=as2&tag=fern01-20&linkId=ID2RLXJRF7TAHJBS

Good luck! I hope he feels better soon.

Also, as promised, here are all the supplements I do take to ensure proper liver/kidney functioning. I mentioned this in my previous thread and someone PM'd me about it:

http://www.amazon.com/Spring-Valley-Milk-Thistle-Concentrated/dp/B0026QKEXY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1396637353&sr=8-2&keywords=milk+thistle

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NRTWKO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QUL2R4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (I'm a big fan of this, seems to help in a LOT of ways)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019H141C/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AWWC4O/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (This is more to help combat any, uhhh, constipation from Kratom, and is good if you are worried about any fungal or bacterial things on the kratom you are getting)

And then I mentioned these strips earlier to test at home, they are a fantastic bargain:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VSMDOE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I highly recommend if you are a daily user like myself to invest in those. If you can afford kratom, you can afford that. And if you can't, let me know because I'd be happy to buy a few more boxes that have 100 in them and pass them along to people in need.

u/HooteaBootea · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I’m only 37 weeks so I can’t vouch for the labor-magic claims, but I’ve been drinking red raspberry leaf tea twice a day since early in my second trimester. ( Specifically this one: https://www.amazon.com/Peaceful-Pregnancy-Tea-Raspberry-Nourishing/dp/B019G3PZQU ) Hopefully it lives up to the labor/recovery hype, but even if it doesn’t, this particular blend tastes great and helps me fight off cravings for caffeinated drinks. The same brand has another red raspberry leaf tea blend called Ripe & Ready (the name grosses me out so much) which is basically the same blend +cinnamon I believe so if you’re into that, definitely try both!

I will continue buying the tea I linked long after delivery. I dislike most herbal tea, but adore the flavor of this one!

u/TheSaurfangDogma · 3 pointsr/Nootropics

https://www.amazon.com/Swanson-Siliphos-Phytosome-Milligrams-Capsules/dp/B01LZ844A2

or

https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Factors-Phytosome-Function-Capsules/dp/B0027AIV66

I'd switch over to one of these. Neither are as cheap, since they both have less caps, but they are much better. The first one is better as it has a higher dosage, but the second one has more caps. I personally take the Swanson one.

What you are taking is a silymarin extract. Silymarin has 7 component flavonoids, of which Silybin is the primary and (by FAR) most potent for supporting hepatic function. All the flavonoids, including Silybin, have pretty shit bioavailability though. Only a very small amount gets absorbed. In the case of silymarin I believe it is 20% absorption, with only a small fraction of that actually being the component that matters (silybin). Silybin Phytosome is a complex of Silybin and Phosphatidylcholine, which increases bioavailability 10x.

IMO compared to silybin phytosome every other milk thistle product is almost homeopathy lmao. For a while I suffered from a lot of liver problems and I have pretty severe Gilbert's syndrome so I used to often have yellow eyes. Silybin phytosome is the only stuff to ever cut my bilirubin levels. I went from having 5x standard unconjugated bilirubin (on a good day, on a bad day 6-7x) to averaging around 1.5-2x the standard.

Given that the percentage of unconjugated bilirubin that gets processed into conjugated is directly related to how efficient the liver is in processing toxins, I'd say that's a good indicator of its quality.

Hey! Currently on my last month. For facial moisturizer I use vanicream and for the rest of my body, I use whatever I have in the house. The main thing that does get dry is my face however. Just apply it every morning and every night and you should be good until you move up to a higher dose. Honestly any lotion will work for your face but try to get something that says light or lite because it won't leave your face so oily.

As far as other side effects, I haven't noticed too much joint pain(currently on 120mg per day). However your liver could take some damage, my first month my liver numbers were all really high, but i started taking milk thistle once a day and my numbers improved greatly, to the point where it was better than where I started.

For cleaning I would avoid anything made for oily skin because it will dry your skin out. Just get a normal cleanser. For now I just use water since my skin is getting better with just using the medicine.

It's not birthday it's birth anniversary.

Game of Thrones made birthdays better by calling them "name days".

Because we are turning 21, here are the things we need birthday twin:

-For nights we want to get shmammered with friends: Shot Glass Roulette!

-For our inner lush: A drink dispenser!

-For the next morning: lol

In all honesty though, look at my lists if you would like. It's mostly stuff for my apartment tbh. I don't have a specific favorite list, but I like things on my final apartment list and most needed/wanted obviously. The general wishlist has decent stuff on it I suppose.

Get Drinkwel before you drink again. My friends and I always use it whenever we drink because you wake up feeling amazing.

u/JMULV_PICKUP · 1 pointr/seduction

ya i add in a bunch of other stuff too. milk thistle to protect and repair the liver, time-released vitamin C (i also take the time-release version of NAC), alpha lipoic acid, etc. i actually take this supplement along with the time-released NAC and vitamin C to get all the other beneficial things to help mitigate damage

u/pammylorel · 8 pointsr/BirdHealth

Okay, you need to switch them to a low fat pellet diet. No more seeds, especially sunflower. Don't starve them though. Also, fresh fruits and vegetables.
Example: https://smile.amazon.com/RoudyBush-Bird-Food-Crumbles-10-Pound/dp/B008OEP9WS/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=low+fat+parrot+pellet&qid=1570462388&sr=8-5

You should give them Milk Thistle Extract. 1 drop per 1 oz of water, changed twice a day. You cannot overdose on milk thistle, it is very safe.
This is an example.

If the lactulose gives the bird diarhea, reduce or discontinue dose.

The breathing issue can definitely be a symptom of liver disease. If you would like to verify the meds and dosages, call your vet with this information and discuss.

I've been following Dr. Ely's supplements on my own for about 3 weeks now. I haven't been able to get the antibiotics yet. So just this part:

Pedia is so important haha and has def saved me a bunch. I would also totally recommend hangover pills- these things are not miracle pills but really do reduce the hangover which is crucial for the absolute MARATHON that is EF haha

If you can, rent a hospital grade medela, it’s much more effective at boosting supply.

I also took these supplements , which helped maintain my supply along with a daily dose of oatmeal.

I'm guessing that the Nalover is mainly due to the blocking of endorphins the next morning, so they're not there to cushion the blow.

It's too late for you to buy these for tomorrow but get some for next time. These save my life on occasion. https://www.amazon.com/PreToxx-Hangovers-Supplement-Electrolyte-Vegetarian/dp/B001EM7T34

First of all, it's not totally uncommon for supplies to do go down a bit at 6 months... well not really go down, but to feel less full... your hormones are adjusting and becoming more in tune with the babies actual needs.

More Milk Plus helped with my supplies http://www.amazon.com/Motherlove-More-Milk-Plus-Alcohol/dp/B000IT49NW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1409591325&sr=8-2&keywords=more+milk+plus

Also pumping helped.

Also as others have said, you may have to stay closer to 50 carbs a day instead of the 20-ish people recommend.

These guys paid people to give good reviews on Amazon... EVERY single one of those comments given there are given by people who only decided to go and write one comment about this AMAZING BS-PRODUCT! ffs... http://www.amazon.com/Drinkwel-Multivitamin-People-Who-Drink/product-reviews/B0041HT1BW/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

Drink your fucking water and take these.

Milk Thistle with a concentrated level of silymarin works wonders physically. Please dont take Benzodiazepines as a substitute for more than a few days (if at all). VERY hard to quit.

On the topic of Booze, these are literally life-changing:

Cannot recommend them enough. Hangovers? Never heard of them. 2 bottles of wine last night? Got up at 7.

Found them ~5 years ago, read the reviews. I've converted about 30 people so far...

Yes! As long as I continue with the daily regiment, it's keeping the rash at bay. I did miss one day, or evening (can't remember exactly), and I noticed a few new bumps. The original rash was scattered across my entire side/front of my torso (I had it BAD). Now it's reduced to discolored skin, that should fade away with time!
