>I have 2 credit cards and 2 debit cards, some cash (usually), 1 old card for picking door locks, few gift cards, library card, 2 insurance cards, and ID. Money clip is not enough...

Incorrect

I've currently got 13 various ID cards, credit cards, rewards cards, etc. and about 15 dollar bills of various denominations.

I use this one, it is not fancy at all. You can put cards on both sides.

There might be demand fo 3DP money clips. Best way to tell is to compare to similar items on the market.

With a quick search I found some examples of various custom money clips

Amazon custom engraving for 3bucks!!!

You can get custom engravings for somewhere around 3-100$ as far as I can tell. All the clips I can find quickly are stainless steel, silver, or leather. 3DP plastic is a bit different and maybe unique enough. However, I think your going to have to justify the benefits of the color options for 3DP verses the durability of the metal ones. You will have to charge more than 3USD/part if your 3DP them, I absolutely guarantee that.

You might also want to consider that bulk stainless money clips are cheap, 25cents a piece. You can then get an engraver fairly cheaply.

Anyways, just my rambling thoughts on the matter.

u/zawell · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

When I grew up my grandpa and uncles all had super thick wallets with every little bit of nonsense in them that rested in their back pockets. When I was 15 I wanted a wallet that would hold every single damn card anyone would give me(trying to imitate my dad figures), from gift to credit to ID... 14 years later I only want to carry the shit I know I need at any given time. You could have the best damn wallet for carrying everything in the world now... Who knows if you will still want to use it 15 years from now.

TLDR: thought thick wallets were the shit, was just trying to show off as an angsty-teen...

I've been using this for 3 years, definitely not BIFL quality - but BIFL style........... http://www.amazon.com/Kenneth-Cole-REACTION-Window-Size/dp/B002EQ95JA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405999481&sr=8-1&keywords=reaction+wallet+clip

Chance he would like a money clip? I have a small metal one like this that I put a couple dollars in and my credit card, debit, and license. Probably not a good option if he doesn't ever carry cash though.

u/pandapoonage · 2 pointsr/EDC
u/Halgy · 1 pointr/AskMen

I have one vaguely like this one, though slightly thinner. I've had mine for coming on 3 years and it is still in great shape. I might upgrade if I found an equivalent version that uses high-quality leather, but that would probably just make the wallet too thick. And I can buy a lot of $15 wallets for the price of a good one.

u/writenroll · 12 pointsr/headphones

Clever solution, however if you were a true audiophile, you would've used a $185 Prada paper clip and a 24kt gold binder clip.

I have been lurking here and other EDC sites for a while now (years) as well as doing it unconsciously, so my carry is fairly refined despite my age.

This is kind of a long post so be ready to read, I start it with my base carry, which is what I do carry everyday without fail, the rest is what I rotate, carry for certain days and purposes, or carry often enough to be part of my EDC but isn't quite my base carry. You can skim over those if you like, as they aren't quite EDC, I am just posting them to give ideas for others and create an inventory for myself in the proccess.

Base carry

It's divided into black and brown depending on what I am wearing.

Phone goes in my left pocket, knife in the right with my wallet/moneyclip, back left holds my gum and chapstick, back right holds my headphones, keys clip to my belt.

Details for these items will be in the categories below.

  4. iPhone 4 16 GB with Monoprice clear bumper as well

  5. iPhone 3GS 16 GB

  6. Old Samsung phone for emergencies

The laptop, comes with me depending on the classes I am taking, it hasn't been coming with me recently because I have been able to do what I need to do with my iPad however.

I have two iPhone 4's because the antena on the first one broke and I had to get a new one, which I accquired from my cousin for setting up his stero and buying him GTA V. I use the second one for games now, or experiments, it comes along when I know I am going to be out of the house for a while. The third iPhone is used for Music and wa s acquired several years ago and I neglected to sell it because I like to keep a backup on hand because redundancy.

The Samsung is for emergency calls, it's battery life is immense and it's rather hard to break, I keep it in whatever bag I happen to be carrying at the time.

  12. Jabra bluetooth

  13. Kingston 64 GB Data Traveler

  14. Iomega eGo 350 GB (350 GB isn't made anymore, I believe.)

Monoprice headphones I just got because the Skullcandy headphones I had broke after several years of abuse. (Which is where the case came from.)

Apple earbuds and ear pods go in my bag as a backup, or when I want to talk and walk around or lay around or when I have my brown base.

The FiiO I use with my Sennheisers to give them a little more ompth, for only 20 bucks it makes quite a diffrence when I am listening to music for peroids.

Jabra bluetooth I don't use much anymore, but I like to keep it in my bag just incase my mic breaks, again, because redundancy. I will also have it on hand to use when gaming.

Kingston Data Taveler goes on my keys and contains my school stuff along with about 10ish bootable OSes, lots of common applications, and other tools. If anyone wants a full list, I will post it, but it's rather long and this is already rather large.

eGo is my general purpose drive, I usually keep a copy of my music library on it. (roughly 100 GB)

  • Apple ungrounded laptop adapter

This gets tossed in whatever bag I happen to be carrying; it also provides a handy spot to keep these cords when I am at the house when I cannot find an extra.

I do not carry all of my knives on person, I generally only have one on person, but if I have a bag, I keep the others in there.

Flashlight generally comes with me in my left pocket when I am carrying my black set of things, or goes in my bag, however my phone solves the majority of my lighting problems so I have not invested in a better flashlight for daily carry.

iPhone punch comes with me because it helps when messing with phones, or with edges of small cases, or with opening some CD drives.

I JUST ordered a solution yesterday because my binder clip was really screwing up my cards (rust, etc).

I searched through the minimalism subreddit, but didn't find anything for me. So I ended up finding this one, which is a little over $5 and I am hoping it will work well and not cost way more than a minimal piece of metal/leather/whatever should.

u/wickedsteve · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I like my slim clip. You can't more minimalist than that. Just as good as a wallet, it holds all the cards I need on one side and cash on the other. It is cheap, lasts forever and I find it far more secure or cautious in a front pocket than a wallet in a back pocket. It also keeps me from becoming a hoarder since there is not a lot of room for cards I don't really need.

Something like this for three bucks. Or something like this, starting at $55 and up.

No, probably not, but my rule of thumb is to not have anything in my back pockets when I sit.

This Storus Smart Money Clip is the one I went with about 8 years ago (you can probably find it cheaper). Its built like a tank and carries everything I need in a day (and keeps me disciplined about what I do actually decide to carry)

u/ips0fakt0 · 1 pointr/AskMen

I use this front pocket wallet. It keeps my licence, credit/debit card and a few other cards in it. I also keep a few $20's just in case. But most stuff I purchase with my cash back credit card.

I don't like having anything bulky like a wallet in my back pockets.

I have a simple money clip I use in addition or sometimes in place of this if I know I'm going somewhere that I will use cash. If I use it instead of I take my drivers licence and credit card out and leave the rest of the wallet locked in the glove compartment.

u/Fritzed · 1 pointr/shittykickstarters

I have a money clip wallet that looks roughly like this, but with one fewer card slot. It forces me to keep what I'm carrying to a minimum, but it's better organized than a lose collection of things in my pocket.

I think it's a good compromise.

u/LaFolie · 2 pointsr/Leathercraft

You could sew one of these to the back. It looks like there is enough room to snitch the 'tang' into the wallet.

Although it's pretty fricking expensive for folded steel metal.

u/quizbuk · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

As an American I rarely carry cash and coins are pretty much obsolete in out debit/credit culture.

I bought this on a whim from an office supply store and I won't carry anything else.

If I run out of space I prioritize or digitize like the article said. It also works well, albeit temporarily, for business cards.

Slim Clip $7

Had mine for about 8 years and it handles everything you need. Cash and about 8 credit/ID cards. Only thing it doesn’t hold is business cards but I don’t hand any out.

Don’t be a Costanza.

It's awesome to not sit on that thing all the time anymore though.

SlimClip. Not sure you'd call it stylish, but it's definitely slim and sturdy. I've been carrying this thing for 10 years now, and it's great. No regrets retiring fat, lumpy wallet for this puppy.

u/JhnWyclf · 1 pointr/HelloInternet

I'm currently using a homemade felt iPhone wallet that has two card slots that fits pretty much everything I need. The only problem is that it is coming apart.

I've thought about going to a clip but I'm not entirely trusting that I won't lose cards during the process of putting it in and taking it out of my front pocket. Has anyone had experience with a card/bill clip? Like this (http://smile.amazon.com/SG-105-DeepPocket-Leather-Wallet-Cowhide/dp/B005GXRCSE/ref=sr_1_8?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1415158810&sr=1-8&keywords=bill+card+clip) but not as expensive.

u/DarkGamer · 0 pointsr/BuyItForLife

After wearing out too many leather wallets I got a cheapie and I've been really enjoying it so far. Had it about a year.

u/aarongough · 1 pointr/EDC

I've been using a brass moneyclip that my dad gave me for well over 10 years now, and I can't imagine going back to an actual wallet of any description.

I highly recommend you have a shot at just using a moneyclip for your cards and cash (cards in the middle, cash folded in half over them). You'd have a very hard time finding a more lightweight and compact wallet!

EDIT: This is the kind of money-clip I'm talking about - http://www.amazon.com/Silver-stainless-steel-groomsman-MC1016/dp/B005B8J04I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348258066&sr=8-1&keywords=money+clip

This has lasted 6 years so far...with no sign of ever breaking. The metal has not stressed either, holds everything just as securely as the first day.

This one definitely fits the bill. I have been carrying a similar one for years. The one piece all metal construction should outlast any fabric or leather one.

Undercover work!!! I completely agree. Can we use these somewhere? Just in case someone gets suspicious. We need to cover all angles and “accidents”

u/solertai · 1 pointr/EDC

I've been using a basic money clip for a few years now. I use 3 cards as well, and while I can't shove more than a few bills in there with them, that's all I need.

u/humoroushaxor · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I do the same thing and use this

Fold up a 50 or 100 under the cards if I want cash. The knife comes in handy a lot.

u/no1_vern · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

http://www.amazon.com/Storus-Corporation-smc-Titanium-Smart/dp/B001TKD8JU/

I use this because I must keep one ID visible at all times while at work, and I use the clip to attach it to my pocket or a lanyard. It holds 5 ID/credit cards easily.

EDIT: IF it 5 is too loose and 6 too tight(which it usually is), make it 5 and fold 1 or 2 pieces of paper(a $20 does fine) in the middle

u/jiznon · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Would you go for a money clip? Purchased it for $5 and have had it for about three years.

u/siZors · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I've been using my Slim Clip for the last 11 years and it still looks exactly the same as when I got it. There's nothing to wear out, it's just a piece of metal and for $6 it's hard to beat the price. It limits you to about 20 bills and 6 cards, which I find sufficient for my needs and prevents the wallet clutter I often see people deal with.

u/ArchitectofAges · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

One more thing about moneyclips: if you hate having a brick in your back pocket, you need a moneyclip, not a wallet. They're made of spring steel, so they never wear out, and the one I linked has room for your credit cards/ID.

u/ReverendDizzle · 4 pointsr/AskMen

I ditched the wallet years ago (too damn bulky and too likely to end up stuffed with shit) and got an ultra-slim stainless steel money clip I keep in my front right pocket. (The product I use is the Slim Clip, if anyone is interested.)
