Wow. Okay, that's fairly comprehensive and impressive. I'm taking it on step by step.

> General- White female, aged 25+, but I have no idea really and that's my best guess,

The age is bang on. TMI, but I'm mixed race and partly-white and on the light olive skinned side of things (I'm a genetic milkshake)

> single,

huh what clued you into that?

> lives in an apartment, most likely alone but maybe a roommate. In an urban area, either a built up town (ie, university, city apartments), or a neighbourhood.

I do indeed live alone in a big city! Again, how'd you figure this out?

> You are a fairly busy person, and you have a demanding profession/job/degree, as it perhaps looks like you have finished high school or are doing something instead.

Yes, I do. I'm starting a financial services company.

> Music is important to you, and you use it as a means of expression or identity

Yes, it is.

> Personal- You like to try and get an early start in the morning, and keep to a schedule.

I'm actually quite the opposite. I can't get up in the morning, but I do try and keep working through the night if I can't. But most of the times I'm up in the AM automatically.

> But, you tend to be disorganised sometimes, so you need to keep on top of what you're doing at times.

I have ADHD.

> You don't drive, and likely don't plan on doing so for a while, or for now at least. You use Uber to get around fairly frequently, and are familiar with different versions in different places in order to travel.

I don't know how to drive and I find car ownership to be passé. If I ever have more money, I'd probably spend time restoring an old maserati or corvette and modernizing it. Take from that what you will.

> Like I said, music is important to you, so you want to listen to it properly. You have either a Bluetooth speaker or some headphones, maybe both.

Yes! And yes I do have a bluetooth speaker; https://www.amazon.com/Bose-SoundLink-Bluetooth-Speaker-Carbon/dp/B00WK47VEW and I plan on upgrading to this once that nears the end of its life; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013CO3GQK/

(I'm not really someone who buys according to brand, but both of these cases are an example of good design and value in an otherwise overpriced product line)

And yes, I have headphones too. But I still with the cheaper apple earpods on that one as I run through these quite fast and it wouldn't be fiscally responsible to go through an expensive one like that.

> Phone use- It looks like you mainly use your phone for function, and this is summed up nicely by the stock wallpaper. You use apps like Reddit for entertainment, but I can't find or think of anything else that would fit, so it seems logical to say that you use your phone mainly for its intended use.

Yup.

> You use messenger mainly to communicate with friends, but don't use any other of the social medias (no Facebook, snapchat, Instagram etc). This leads me to believe you are more of a persons person, and this different style of social participation helped with trying to get an age range. You use messenger but not Facebook- you have a Facebook account, but maybe you don't use it so much in favour of more social interactions.

That is true. I use FB as more of an address book than not. I prefer taking people out to coffee and talking through things. However, I'd once again admit that I'm not above using Facebook to keep track of people.

> Day to day- You have an uber booked in this screencap, and what is likely an alarm for it at 2pm (it being 9:38am question, why is it April 1st in this screencap?).

It's an old screencap from my archives. I recently broke this phone so I thought it would be fun to see what people can deduce from these screencaps given that, "it's dead, Jim."

> You probably use uber, lyft and others to get to and from your studies/profession.

I go out quite a lot. So I used it to commute on a daily basis to and fro from meetings, restaurants, art galleries, and the sort

> You have an alarm set for 2pm on a Saturday, and you're up by 9:40am so I'd wager you usually wake up at 7:00-8:30am in the week. This could show that you do something in the day, but whether it's work or education I can't work out, but I'm edging towards education.

I just work most days of the week and/or do projects on my own.

> Online presence- You are mainly a Google based person. Chrome is your go-to search engine, Gmail is your mail platform, you use Google maps, and you very likely have a G+ account

Nope! I don't have a G+ account

> and most likely a YouTube account linked to this, but you only watch videos, etc.

Yes, I do use Youtube a lot though.

> It wouldn't surprise me if you had a Google phone or some kind of similar android.

I actually own a Nexus, which I'm upgrading to an iPhone, but I still miss the old Nexus 5 series because of how reliable and ergonomic those phones were. Their rubberized polycarbonate back felt so good in my hand.

I don't really have a love for Android though. I do prefer iOS; I just loved their old Nexus 5 hardware.

>Your main communication methods are through text, call, or the messenger app.

Well, that and Signal + Telegram for business. And email for everything else. I also do video calls through appear.in.

> You probably have a small to medium sized group of friends based on my guesses so far, so just one active conversation looks about normal.

That's actually a permanently stickied convo. It's someone I deeply love. I know a lot of people --- my web of acquaintances is probably well over 1k, but I do have small group of friends.

> You probably use Reddit moderately often. I haven't looked through your post history as per your request, but I'd guess I'd see posts for hobby subs and probably just your general interests.

Well, have a look and tell me what you think :)

> I don't know what kind of use Reddit would see from you, but seeing as though your phone offers almost no entertainment outside of your music, I'd wager to say that you likely use Reddit alot of the time you're bored and on your phone.

Yes, or I go read something.

> Though saying this, it seems you usually only use your phone for whatever its needed for at the time, so again I don't know how much time you'd spend online.

I spend my entire day online running my company, compulsively reading (everything), talking with friends and family, organizing stuff, and so on.

> Organisation- It appears that you like to try and stay organised by using apps like Clue to be on top of your feminine hygiene, Trello to organise events or perhaps as part of work (?)- trello here suggests a lot of things but tells me that you like to coordinate or be part of a team, and this is either beneficial or necessary to your daily routine/profession etc.

I use Trello for everything. Everything.

> Judging by everything else, I'd say you use the app to get things done around the house or just in general, and this helps give a level of stability and takes some of the stress off your hands

Winner winner chicken dinner!

> You're quite a disorganised person, but you like to know what you're doing and when, so you do make up for this.

What gave this away? I thought that the minimalist aesthetic made me look organized?

> If you aren't in education, then my best guess is you either like to travel (which I don't see much evidence of here), or you have a profession that requires it. There isn't much evidence either for or against any of this, so I just presented my best guess.

Yes, I love to travel and hope to turn my company into something where I can perpetually travel.

Okay, this is pretty bang on in other respects. What else can you tell about me now that you have more information?

u/jallsopp · 1 pointr/Bluetooth_Speakers

I'd suggest giving the JBL Boost TV a look. I have an iPhone dock by them, JBL OnBeat Venue LT, which shares the same specs (60Hz - 20kHz, 30W, same drivers) just this is a slightly different shape and purpose. Its a little over your budget but, other than portable speakers and generic soundbars (not good), I can't seem to think of much else. If you're interested in the portable route, I'd highly recommend the JBL Charge 2+ really impressive little thing and sounds great. Gets loud for what it is however I'm not confident it'd be loud enough for an apartment.

Assuming they're as similar as I believe they will be, the Boost TV seems to be a great option for you. Goes plenty loud. It fills my small home fully with sound and I've used it for a few parties at other bigger houses. Volume is very impressive for the size and it sounds great. Deep punchy lows which rattles mirrors and pictures in other rooms and the mids and highs are crystal clear. Sounds great to me.

u/CarolynDesign · 4 pointsr/secretsanta

I wouldn't feel too bad about it. It's not the most personal gift in the world, but you weren't given a ton of information to work with. In the future, maybe send messages to ask about other interests and likes; you can even tell your giftee that you're good at fashion/costume design, and would he be interested in something like an -insert item you're able and willing to make here-?

For this year, the only other thing you might consider is sending a card or a note on redditgifts his way, suggesting some things he might like to buy with the Amazon giftcard, and that you weren't sure which one he'd find most useful in his life.

Here are some things you might suggest:

A waterproof bluetooth speaker

A laptop stand to prevent overheating when pulling long hours producing music

A cool looking USB hub, because he probably needs a lot of USB ports to do all that.

A sound recording pen, so that if he thinks of a good rap on the fly, he can record it and jot it down at the same time.

Or just a nice fountain pen, great for graphic designers.

Then, you've made some suggestions for what you think he'd like, but if he'd rather use it for something else, the ball is in his court.

u/thelaksh · 1 pointr/audiophile

Friends, Redditors, Audiophiles, lend me your opinion!

After spending hours reading about speakers and getting nowhere, I now request fellow Redditors to help me make a wise decision about the best value for money wireless speaker. Here's what I'm looking for in a speaker:

  1. Must have great allround performance since I listen to almost every genre out there.
  2. Must be able to survive when I take it to the bathroom with me. (Humidity, Steam, a few water splashes during the shower)
  3. Good battery life
  4. Good volume. It's okay if it's not 'party' loud (wouldn't mind if it is though).
  5. Doesn't have to be the lighest speaker ever but portable enough to carry to different rooms of the house and occasionally (once a month), outdoors.
  6. Should have good design, not a must though.
  7. Must have great connectivity (no connection drops and stuff)

Budget: $150 (can stretch it to $175 if there's something really amazing out there but lesser is better).

So far, here's what my shortlist looks like:

  8. FUGOO Style XL - $149

  9. UE Megaboom - $149

  10. JBL Xtreme - $149

  11. Oontz Angle 3 - $30

  12. UE Boom2 - $79

  13. UE Blast - $229 (might make an exception if it's really worth that much)

I loved Sonos a lot but unfortunately they don't deal well with water, can't be taken outdoors (if I'm correct) and need to be connected to a power source all the time.

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: I'm also open to other options as long as they're better than the ones in this list.

So I'm moving to college in NYC in the fall, and I've been faced with the issue of how to fit my turntable in my dorm. I didn't want to lug my whole stereo setup there as it would take too much room, but it was looking like I had to. Until just now!

I got this speaker as a graduation gift so I had a speaker to connect my phone to in the dorms. It looks (and is) tiny but the sound quality is honestly pretty great - good stereo image, clear highs, low lows, etc. If I turn it up about halfway and leave it on my bed I can feel the bass vibrating through my mattress. Naturally it isn't up to par with, say, a vintage amp paired with some great speakers and there isn't an EQ on it (or at least I haven't discovered one), but sacrifices ya know?
I connected my turntable's stereo jacks to the preamp I already had for my existing setup (found here), then ran an [adaptor cable](https://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Audio-Cable-Splitter-1-Mini/dp/B00004Z5CP/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1465788718&sr=1-4&keywords=stereo+to+aux is the one I use) to the aux input on the speaker. Works like a charm!

I thought this would come in handy for anyone moving to an area with little space (like a dorm) who still wants to hold on to their record collection. Happy listening!

u/ManlikeJCole · 1 pointr/BudgetAudiophile

Its above the $150 mark but for outdoor use [this](http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Portable-Outdoor-Wireless-Speaker/dp/B00Y1D6ISK
) seems like it would be a good fit.

But to fit your descrition best you said beats pill comparable (the beats pill is awful). Therefore the JBL Charge 2 would be a great fit.

However if you want to get one of the best portable speakers around for a heftier price then the JBL Xtreme 2 is one of the best around.

u/the_chols · 2 pointsr/Weddingsunder10k

I have an ION Tailgater. It is a step up from smaller bluetooth speakers. It has a 1/4" TRS for your mic input and offers an adjustable gain for it.

My DJ setup is a pair of EV ZLX12 speakers. These are a fantastic entry level speaker. They have combo XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs for your mic, and an AUX port for whatever else. Bass is decent as well. Pricey, but you will literally have professional grade sound.

Check out your local Sam's Club or Best Buy and see what other speakers they have similar to the ION Tailgater if you don't want to drop $400 on a professional level speaker that weighs 40lbs.

Regarding your record player setup, you may not have a proper mic connection on there. Mic signals are weak and require boosting. Audio that comes out of your phone's headphone jack are called "line level" as they have enough signal power to play without additional amplification. You can't just plug a handheld mic into any input and expect it to work. Since phono signals are weak and require boosting as well your receiver may be able to handle it. Best to get a speaker that has a dedicated mic input with a gain boost for the best results.

u/jmathias31 · 0 pointsr/audiophile

I hope I'm not too late for this.

I'm looking to get some decent portable audio setup that I could use at college this coming fall. I asked a buddy of mine what he would recommend and he mentioned that the Bose Soundlink Mini would be a possibility.

Budget: I'm looking to spend no more than $300. That is the absolute maximum, but I would prefer to spend about $200

What am I looking for: I want something I can move back and forth from my dorm back home (4 hour drive) fairly easily. Something with Bluetooth would be nice also so I can play music from my phone, but something I could still use with my laptop if I choose to.

How would I use it: I will be using it to listen to music most, watching movies and tv, and maybe the occasional gaming session. I also want something I can link up with my phone with via Bluetooth but can also use my laptop with. I'll probably put them on or under my desk and I'll be listening to them around my dorm.

What gear do I own: the only gear I own worth mentioning is a pair of Bose OE2's (they're ok. Not really worth the money though. One of the ear pads came off and they're a pain to get back on), and some Sennheiser HD 380 Pros (I absolutely live these, great sound quality, comfortable, and I got a great deal on amazon). Other than those, I have some shitty apple earbuds that are decent for carrying around with me.

Material: as I already mentioned, I'll be using them for music, as well as some movies and games. I listen to a wide range of music, ranging from EDM, to country, to rock, so all around good speakers would be best.

Am I willing to buy used: Not really, unless I am able to somehow find some pristine gear

If anyone has any additional tips I would really appreciate it.

u/captaindealbreaker · 1 pointr/audio

To be honest, you're asking a lot for your budget. If you want to sit next to the speaker and be able to listen to it at a reasonable volume, something like this would probably work well enough: http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Wireless-Bluetooth-Speaker-High-Def/dp/B00GZC35YK/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1427349938&sr=1-9&keywords=portable+speaker

But if you want to be able to actually be active and hear your music, you're going to have to get something much bigger. That said, you can do it without breaking your budget.

My advice would be to by a pair of these: http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Powered-Computer-Speakers-A100/dp/B00GHY5F3K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1427350132&sr=8-2&keywords=usb+speakers

Power them with this: http://www.amazon.com/Battery-13000mAh-Portable-External-Cellphones/dp/B00K64WR9C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427350210&sr=8-1&keywords=battery+pack

And fasten them all together with this stuff (it's incredibly strong, trust me) http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-All-Weather-Fasteners-Inches-RFD7090/dp/B00347A8EO/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1427350273&sr=8-7&keywords=dual+lock

That comes in at around $49 and while it's not going to blast your music, it will do you much better than any sub $50 bluetooth speaker.

Now if you're willing to spend some extra money, get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Wireless-Bluetooth-Speaker-Speakerphone/dp/B00E9YIFQ4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1427350482&sr=8-8&keywords=ultimate+ears

I can attest from personal experience that it's a pretty powerful little speaker, sounds great, and you can pair two of them for stereo listening.

u/jrmy · 5 pointsr/Velo

I have found this combination to be by far the best.

Bluetooth Adapter

Sennheiser OCX 865i

I have been running this setup for a several years without any issues. The adapter works way better than some integrated solution. It relocates the weight to anywhere you want. Gives you headphone choices. Works well outdoors too. (I only use it on runs with my phone but I don't see why it wouldn't work on a ride.) And if your headphones die you only need to replace them.

I wrote a long blog post about this setup some time ago but can't find it anymore. Anyway, I found the battery lasted about 4 hours when it was set to full power with those headphones. The adapter is a generic unit so you will find multiple brands. For example I also have a NoiseHush version. Just make sure to get the one with a micro USB charger. The first gen units had this goofy charger cable that you can't easily replace.

Finally, another nice feature is that the play and skip forward and back buttons do work with at least iOS. I found it extra handy when watching Netflix on my iPad while connected to the TV. I could play/pause the movie from it.

As for the headphones, those are my personal favorite. Good volume, good sound, and nice fit options. I have sets of both the retail and refurb and all are still working well after a lot of use.

u/bootbox · 2 pointsr/vinyl

Turntable: Pro-Ject Debut Carbon - $399.00. I don't like the cartridge options on this one so if it were me I'd get the cheapest cartridge option, sell the cheap bundled cart, and buy a new one. The table itself gets really positive reviews though, everyone was pretty stunned when this came out for this price. Carbon fiber tonearms used to be mostly attached to $2000+ tables.

Amp: While it's tempting to recommend vintage gear here, it cost me a nice chunk of time, money, and research to get my all-vintage rig up and running, and there are very nice modern options that will match the modern table better and sound incredible, all with no hassle.

I like the Marantz PM5004 - $449.00. Great brand, great specs, and a built-in phono pre-amp. You can always get a better pre-amp if you want to upgrade to a low output, high end Moving Coil cartridge in the future, but this will sound great and you may feel no need to ever upgrade.

Cartridge: I've heard a handful of $200.00 and below cartridges in my time and this $69.00 cartridge is my favorite so far - Shure m97xe. It's cheap and sounds incredible. It gets brought up a lot, but it's wildly popular for a reason.

That leaves $83 for speakers and wires. You can go a bit low here and get these nice Dayton 6.5 inch bookshelfs for around $30.00, or spend a bit more than your budget and get the $149.00 Pioneer SP-BS41-LR in this price range. They were designed by famed speaker designer Andrew Jones and get great reviews.

u/slycon · 3 pointsr/USPS

I'll link to some stuff I bought that I've found useful.

My office has all mounted routes, so I don't walk door to door but rather I drive mailbox to mailbox. Instead of headphones, I use a bluetooth speaker and I can't imagine going through a workday without it. So headphones or a speaker, depending on whether your fiance primarily walks or drives on his routes, is a great idea.

A nice water-resistant backpack comes in handy, and maybe even an insulated lunch box or waterbottle/thermos.

This may sound stupid, but when I get home aromatherapy helps me relax and sleep. I bought a little InnoGear oil diffuser off of Amazon and I like the Prime Natural oils like Good Night and Anxiety Relief. It's just a chill way to end the day.

u/lysergicfuneral · 1 pointr/headphones

Yes, I have that exact one. I had it plugged into my Aux jack in my car after finding out that it allowed BT voice calls, but not music (A2DP). It works great. Connected to my phone quickly. Not sure how the range is, becasue it was pretty much only used in the car. I was impressed with the battery life, probably 10-12 hours or more. Can be powered/charged while using. Nothing to complain about in terms of sound quality, but it's not like a car on the Interstate is the optimal listening room. Just be sure to turn down the source volume a few notches or it will clip (same goes for all BT devices). It got annoying to turn on and off every time I started the car, so I worked out another solution. Sometimes when trying to turn it off, sometimes it would call the last number in my log, which was very annoying.

Not sure what you're trying to do, but I use this Jumbl clippy BT receiver in the gym. Great range, decent battery and easy to use. Can't workout without it. It keeps my phone out of my pocket where it otherwise might get smashed or fall out of my pocket. I use headphones with a short cord (which I'm dying to replace).

u/zerotetv · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

> It may be suprising to see sound come from a small device but that doesn't make them unique or justified for the price tag.

It does make them somewhat unique, as few other companies focus on getting the most sound out of the smallest amount of space. Whether they're worth the price tag is subjective. If you appreciate sound quality and price over looks and size, then you're not their target audience. Wife approval factor is a pretty big deal, you see it all the time with all sorts of things.

> You are able to find a better quality system in the same form factor for a cheaper pricetag. How much cheaper? 1/2 to 1/3 the cost.

Like what, for example?
Where can I find something for $100 or less that beats the SoundLink Mini II, or something for $100 or less that outperforms the Acoustimass 3 Series V, or something for $500 or less that outperforms the Acoustimass 10 series V, and just for the heck of it, something that costs $2000 or less that outperforms the Lifestyle 650?

Now remember, whatever you suggest has to be the same form factor or smaller, and not look ugly as sin (because wife approval factor).

Photive Hydra Wireless Bluetooth Speaker. Waterproof Rugged Portable with built in Subwoofer and Long Battery https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K589F8A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_IxsjPLAeIZb9M

I got this thing recently. I had been eyeing speakers for awhile and caught this on sale. Ive had it for around 2 months now. I haven't done anything crazy with it but I've definitely dropped it dozens of times. And it is LOUD. I remember when the beats speakers first came out and being impressed, this thing sounds better.

It doesn't have a place to attach it to anything. So I rigged this up real quick based on a picture I saw in the reviews. It spends most of its time hanging in my garage. I've barely had to take it down to charge, pretty sure the battery life is around 8 hours?

For $30 bucks on sale I'm pretty happy.

Bose SoundLink Mini

I've had this for 9 months and it is easily the best electronic purchase I've ever made. This thing PUMPS and is super durable. I use it every day and love it. I take it to the beach, bike rides, when I workout (home gym) and it's loud enough to use for the living room.

4.8 stars on Amazon. 2,267 5 star rankings on Amazon. Dope ass beats wherever this thing is. This is WAY better than a Jambox, Beats Pill, etc. Nobody in my house uses any of the other bluetooth speakers any of us own.

I guarantee you'll love this speaker.

How nice :)

  1. This beer glass, which is packaged beautifully + a trip to a local brewery.

  2. He might appreciate finding a pocket knife or some toenail clippers in his stocking. Not something that someone would typically think to ask for, but definitely useful.

  3. A wireless bluetooth speaker, which he can bring with him when he goes golfing.

  4. This really beautiful copper flask + a tour of a nearby distillery.

  5. A subscription to Vinyl Me, Please. Each month they'll send him a special-edition vinyl, complete with an album-inspired 12" x 12" art print and custom cocktail pairing recipe.
u/Joeclu · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I recently bought this. It was much more solid than I expected. Has given me 0 trouble. Works great. Sounds great (to my non-audiophile ears), was inexpensive, and waterproof. I take it in the shower every morning. Not sure if it is buy-it-for-life but I've been very happy with it. Much higher quality than expected. I recommend it.

I have the TDK Life on Record A33 and I do not recommend it.

It has great bass for the small size, but the high end is extremely lacking. I can't understand how this got through quality control.
There is practically no stereo separation or 'soundstage'. It might as well just be mono.

Also the speakerphone function doesn't work. Pre-set volume is way too low and I can't see any way to increase it.

I would definitely recommend the Logitech bluetooth speaker

my friend has one and it sounds super (best when plugged into ac, on battery the bass drops out a bit). it's a little bigger but so what it's the sound that matters. I wish I would have got that one. In fact now that I'm writing this I think I'm going to sell the TDK and get the logitech. I just can't stand the TDKs lack of highs.

> Preferably uses AA batteries

You are one of us: r/AAMasterRace.

I asked a question about bluetooth devices for linking audio stuff together. The answers I got were mostly about AA battery speakers:

  • No AA Bluetooth devices exist? : r/AAMasterRace

The ones designed to work as guitar amplifiers would probably work for your friend. I'm not sure what you mean by this:

    > No Bluetooth, or Bluetooth can be completely turned off

Doesn't most Bluetooth turn off when not in use?

I have a Bose portable speaker that I got way before I standardized on AA batteries, but it does have a replaceable lithium battery, so it's not so bad. It supports external power too. It can do Bluetooth, but also takes a standard 3.5 mm audio cable. I assume when the audio cable is in use, Bluetooth would be off. You have to manually push a button on it to turn Bluetooth on, and you push another button to switch to cable. I think the fact it doesn't automatically switch is how you can be reasonable sure Bluetooth is completely off to conserve power.

I bought the first model of it:

  • AmazonSmile: Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker (Discontinued by Manufacturer): Home Audio & Theater

There is a newer model I haven't tried:

  • AmazonSmile: Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II (Carbon): Home Audio & Theater

My only complaint with mine is it's too aggressive about turning off to save power, even when it's on external power. That isn't a problem in most cases, and other than not supporting AA batteries (it can use AA batteries externally), it's perfect. It's probably the loudest one I could find, but I suspect some of the cheap AA battery guitar amplifiers could compete for loudness, but not audio quality.

There are a lot of AA battery guitar amplifiers on the market, and I'm sure you can find one that doesn't have Bluetooth. Most of them are probably much cheaper than the Bose.

Does your friend already have rechargeable AA batteries?

which of these three speakers would you recommend? I plan on getting a turntable and receiver to hook them up to, and they'd for now be used just in my bedroom and eventually possibly in a smaller apartment living room or such. this will be my first setup, so I want to make sure I get something that will give me good sound and last for awhile before I can upgrade down the road. the options that I've found to seem like the best are:

Its a hair over $60 but this speaker is great for the money. If you can't budge at all on the price, I have a speaker very similar to this one and its got some great sound for the price. Both are very good speakers, so you really can't go wrong.

u/laydros · 2 pointsr/BudgetAudiophile

This is a little bit above your price range based on the USD price, but I got a UE Mini Boom last year, and love it. It was on sale for about $90 USD that day and it looks like the current Amazon US price is $82. But keep an eye out and it will probably go on sale.

It doesn't sound as good as my desktop speakers, but for something that fits in my messenger bag so well, and lasts hours on batteries, it is excellent.

The sound is clear, and gets loud enough to have people listen to it on my deck outside.

You could get him a FitBit One (that's what I got my father, also 60 this year) or any such wearable health tracker. It'll encourage him to stay active. If he already has an iPhone or some product that can be synced with the device, it'll be even better! My father is obsessed with his FitBit, and is daily walking 10,000+ steps. It's amazing.

You could also get him a nice bluetooth portable loudspeaker that he could use to listen to music while fishing. Never gone fishing myself, so I'm not sure if that's a thing, but I feel it might get boring sitting there for hours waiting for fish to bite.

Last idea- I read in bed too, and recently discovered this amazing pair of goggles that keeps the blue light out of my eyes so that my circadian rhythm is not disturbed. Check it out, it could be a good gift.

I’ve had one of these for a good 4 years or so and it’s been working great. Obviously the quality isn’t going to be phenomenal but it’s better than the speakers in your phone and definitely better than the watch would be. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap way to get their music in the shower

u/tugboatmassacre · 8 pointsr/amazonecho

I recommend the following:

Bose Soundlink Mini

Sony SRS-XB3

Sony SRS-HG1 (this one is pretty cool, got lots of features)

Why those? There's an option to turn off auto-off, which turns off the speaker when it's idle with no music playing after a certain amount of time. Which is essential to the echo unless you enjoy manually turning your speaker on before you connect it with the echo.

They also have pretty good sound quality.

u/neetoday · 8 pointsr/AskElectronics

There are Bluetooth transmitters that he can hook up to that speaker jack (I just bought one for my mother's TV), but they need to be powered. Here's the one I bought. It's big but probably still easily small enough to fit on a motorcycle.

These Sony speakers are rubbish. I'd recommend these Pioneer instead.

Turntable: it's not that bad, but I'd still not recommend it. Except for the SL-1200 (which this table tries to imitate), belt drive is much better than direct drive. Could you save a little more money and get a ProJect Debut or Rega RP1?

Amp: I don't know if the Pyle is good. I'd recommend vintage, but since you don't want to hear it, I wouldn't recommend anything under the Yamaha AS500 ($400, phono preamp integrated).

Edit: removed references to vintage... I think that these days, when it comes to new electronics, you get much less than you pay for under a certain price. That's why people here over and over tell you to go vintage.

u/prajaybasu · 1 pointr/headphones

Bluetooth's default codec has high latency which means that the video/audio will go out of sync and the sound quality will be shite, at least for me.

aptX is a codec that's meant to fix that, and aptX-LL (Low Latency) would be the best choice for streaming desktop audio wirelessly.

Buy the FiiO BTR1, which is aptX+aptX-LL capable receiver and also buy a transmitter that's capable of aptX-LL (like this, this or this) and you'll not regret having aptX capable gear after trying to watch normal YouTube videos or game on that crappy default BT connection.

I believe macOS can utilize aptX by default, but if you have a Windows PC and do not have a 3.5mm jack to hook up the transmitter to, then you can buy an aptX-capable dongle like this and install the CSR Harmony BT stack because the default Microsoft BT stack does not properly support aptX.

I have a BTR1 and the CSR 4.0 dongle that I linked above and I get near zero latency unless I go too far (it switches codec to the default BT one if I go too far) - I'm not sure if it's using aptX-LL though, but it's definitely using aptX.

The upcoming FiiO BTR3 and the Bluewave GET also support aptX-HD apart from aptX-LL, but I don't think most media can even use such a high bitrate, so aptX-LL will be fine for now.

I guess you can ignore my advice if you are happy with the Mpow receiver (like many people) - I didn't use it personally, but my experience with non-aptX devices has been awful.

u/SnowblindAlbino · 2 pointsr/amazonecho

It's compressed digital music. It's never going to sound "good," but you can do "okay" quite easily. The simplest method would be to buy a powered, stereo speaker (even a good Bluetooth portable would work) and simply connect it directly with a cable. The second easiest would be to connect that same cable to a small amplifier (try a $25 T-amp) and a pair of bookshelf speakers.

I have my Dot wired to a powered Bluetooth speaker on my nighstand. It actually sounded better than my full-sized Echo, for less than half the price.

u/tr1ppn · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I have a bunch of items listed as highest priority. It was a guitar up until I bought one for myself at guitar center. Now I need things like a stand, picks, a strap, etc.

My highest priority item is probably this toolkit which has been on my WL since I joined RAOA. I have no idea why I still haven't just gotten it for myself considering I could have many times over. We have basically no tools in our apartment, so I'm even more useless than normal when it comes to fixing things.

I REALLY need a new 360 controller. I may or may not have shattered mine a while back, and I'm currently playing with it held together by tape, and sometimes a button or two doesn't work. It's really frustrating.

I also have GT6 listed as highest, because it is honestly my favorite gaming franchise of all time, and I love every one of the GT games.

This thing is listed as highest because I would really like to listen to my own music in the car, but don't have an aux cable. I can get one, but I need a special part (because my car stereo is set up REALLY stupid), and it's $120 and comes from the UK. That item is listed as highest priority too, but it's not on amazon.

By the way, you are awesome :D :D

Awesome! That sounds like it might be perfect! This one is what I was eyeing. We're having the ceremony outside and the reception in a tent about 50 yards away, so while not really elegant, we were thinking of entrusting someone to move it from the ceremony site over to the reception area after people start to disperse. It's in a public area so we have the opportunity of troubleshooting ahead of time to make sure it will work.

What if I want my Bluetooth headphones to be amplified?

Pretty ignorant and still trying to figure all of this out and there doesn't seem to be a clear cut answer online.

How might I go about utilizing a headphone amp while still being wirelessly attached to my desktop? Apt-X LL is a requirement.

I'm listening through a pair of Beoplay H9s and I currently have one of these and one of these. Is it as easy as hooking up the former downstream from a headphone amp?

Would love some advice and/or product recs. Thanks!

u/thatguyonthecouch · 5 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Get this and thank me later. I have owned about (not exaggerating) 20 different bluetooth speakers including bose, jbl, beats, sony, and Logitech. Hands down the best speaker for the money in my opinion is the UE Boom, or UE Megaboom if you can afford it. It's indestructible (we literally played football with the speaker in a pool and with drops and all it was fine), completely waterproof, has an incredible battery life, and can easily be paired with a second UE boom for stereo if you so desire. There really is not a better designed bluetooth speaker around at the moment and it sounds pretty damn good.

u/calinet6 · 12 pointsr/audiophile

For greatest quality, start with a stereo setup powered by a 5.1+ receiver, and just add a center channel and 2 rear channels.

Your best bet would probably be to find a fairly recent name-brand surround receiver used, such as on Craigslist. Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo... all decent. They'll do.

Then look for the best front channel speakers you can find. First, try to find a used pair, even a vintage set, for $100-$150 max. Look up "good vintage speaker brands" and do some research, then hit craigslist. Look for anything from ADS or KEF or Acoustic Research.

If you don't want to go used or vintage, there are a lot of great bookshelf speakers priced at about $200/pair that will beat the socks off of any speakers in your OP. Check out Paradigm Atoms, PSB Alpha B1's, Monitor Audio BR-2's, and believe it or not these new Pioneer SP-BS41's. With speakers such as this a subwoofer should not be very necessary.

After that, just pick up pretty much any small rear channel speakers, and a center channel that seems to match the fronts acoustically (or even the same brand).

If you're not into doing that much work or possibly overstepping your budget, get the Yamaha set (best reviews, and I really like the amps/interface of Yamaha HTR's) and try to upgrade the 2 front channel speakers ASAP with one of the recommendations above. You know, if you're not happy with it out of box :) All up to you of course, but that would be your first upgrade.

A quality portable speaker such as the MINI JAMBOX or the Ultimate Ears MINI BOOM. I'm not saying I want those specifically (but if they're good, I'd like to know). I just want to know what are good portable speakers that are small and reasonably priced like those two models. I would prefer to spend around $100, but I'm willing to go up to $150 if there is a product that really shines in your opinion. All advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Well, I only want to suggest what I own and I know works well. I have a bluetooth speaker that has outperformed all expectations and has an AUX jack. The pictures don't do much for scale. It's a one-hand thing.

Since it set the gold standard a few years ago, there may be others as good these days. But as far as I know, this is the best thing there is. It is nothing short of loud and base filled.

Hope this helps.

I highly second this. I got one on ebay for $35 and it works great, worth full price after having it for a while. So much better than the little can style units. And if you plug it in it has a louder, fuller sound.

Edit: sorry, I realized I have a different Logitech model. This one. I really like it though, great quality sound at low to medium levels, doesn't get too loud but great for an average size room.

We swear by our UE BOOM blue tooth speaker. It's portable and the sound quality is amazing. This tiny thing gets loud! It's also water resistant so can withstand some splashing from our grown up cannon balls. My parents also use one when golfing. They have had theirs for a few years and it has really held up. Also the battery life is amazing. I am buying us a second one because we saw a call blue one with a wave pattern that is much cooler than our blue one. The range is great to. The quick and easy way would be to get a cassette adapter. You put it into the cassette deck, connect his iPhone and hit play on the tape deck.

You can also get a FM radio adapter but you might end up with a lot of noise depending on the car and the positioning of the transmitter.

The best way would be to get a AUX adapter that fits into the original radio. I cannot confirm that this adapter will work with his car but the 2003-2009 Trailblazer is on the compatibility list. Contact SonicElectronix or your local car audio shop for more info.

u/yetiman223 · 2 pointsr/hometheater

What most people will tell you is that there is no such thing as good wireless speakers, you'll save more money, time, and heartache if you go wired.

However...

One solution is to get a standard stereo setup and use a wireless converter to wirelessly send audio from your device to your speakers or from a device to your TV speakers. Something like this (although there are cheaper products out there for less)

I've also heard this speaker set up is decent but it'll cost you around $150. I personally use a lot of wireless Logitech devices and have never had a problem, but I have no personal experience with their sound quality.

I'd recommend getting some decent passive speakers and a cheap receiver and just stay plugged in. You'll get the best sound quality possible while only spending as low as $120.

Hello. I am looking to purchase a bluetooth speaker for my father for xmas. He is interested in the Bose Soundlink Mini because one of the guys at his work uses it, and he likes how loud it can get, and the quality of the sound. He wants to use one to listen to music when hes out on the pontoon boat in the summer. I'm sure he would use it when hes doing work in the garage or something as well.

I am willing to spend upto the $200 pricetag of that bose speaker, but.. Its bose, and I generally hear bad about Bose from folks who know sound. So I figure I might be able to get something with better sound quality, and higher volume for the same price.

It will be used only for playing music from his or my moms cell phone.
I would also prefer to buy new as this is a xmas gift.

I dont know if you are going to beable to find a Non-Bluetooth enabled one (its probably cheap to throw that in now). I'm not sure if you can stream Audio from the microusb on the HTC One. I havent tried.

Your best bet would be to find one that has a USB port and an Aux port. USB to charge and AUX to play the music.

Cheap and easy?

Try out something like these (get a few, they break eventually) or this if you have an AUX jack.
If you've got a tape deck grab something like this.

If you only have the USB for an input something like this might work, though I've never used it. No idea about plugging the phone directly into SUB. Probably depends on the radio too.

Quick search found this video for adding an aux to the OEM head unit. With that aux you could then plug it in to something like the ROAV Smartcharge Kit F2 (got one for my partner a year ago), now you have 2 high speed charging ports, and Bluetooth/hands free. Best part is no interference and better sound quality then using generic Bluetooth to FM adapters

u/MaviePhresh · 2 pointsr/gadgets

You can get a pretty nice one for $200. You can get a decent one in the $40 range that will suite your needs. I've had the Oontz angle and it's plenty loud and works fine. But you could spring for the JBL Flip which is really quite nice.

u/boncros · 5 pointsr/tasker

Anker makes the roav smartcharge. here's a link. it works really well and provides oher benefits than just having your phone connect to Bluetooth. I use this along with tasker. It's the best solution I've used for getting my phone and car to work together.

Oh, I have wireless headphones. I've also had something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Jumbl8482-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Streaming-Receiver/dp/B00UUDZLB0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1473456304&sr=8-2&keywords=bluetooth+headphone+adapter forever. I love it. I bought some Kanoa headphones (like EarPods but with a better in-ear fit and waterproof) that I can't wait to arrive.

But I'm not loving having to upgrade a fleet of 2,000 iPhones and decide whether to spend $100 on new dongles for everyone or make everyone spend the money themselves. I'm not loving trying to help a few thousand users figure out how to use their phones.

Also, if you are going the speaker/Ipod route then I highly recommend this one

I bought it and it's very loud, bluetooth or cord to connect, easy to use, comes with a mic, and has 50 hours of battery life (obviously can be recharged)!! It's also super reasonably priced...I couldn't believe it!

Get a new radio. I'm not being a dick, Im being honest.

I rode around with an aftermarket CD player with no AUX for the first year of getting my car, as soon as I got my S4, I coupled it with a cheap JVC with an AUX from Best Buy for maybe 50 bucks. Best Decision of my life, no more blank CD's, no more skipping tracks, and Music quietens itself when navigation is speaking.

Or if you have a tape deck, get one of [these] (http://www.amazon.com/RCA-AH600R-Car-Cassette-Adapter/dp/B000BUN79K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397053400&sr=8-3&keywords=cassette+mp3). They're just as good.

u/getchasomekid · 1 pointr/gadgets

By UE Boom 2, do you mean the UE MEGABOOM? If you paid $270 for the Boom 2, then you got ripped pretty hard.

I use the MEGABOOM at work in a warehouse, and that baby pumps out sound for it's size. It blows the BOOM/BOOM 2 clear out of the water. Easily the best effortlessly portable bluetooth speaker I've owned, and I've went through 4 different brands at work. It has the best sound quality:volume ratio of all four. It doesn't distort at max volume, and lasts a solid 3 hours at max volume in 35 degrees Fahrenheit (I work in a giant refrigerator. The cold nukes battery life.). I can still make out the music it's playing over the Tailgator that coworkers have.

If you can spare the space, go with the Tailgater. It lasts me all day at work (8 to 10 hours) at 75% volume and it will only lose 1 bar of battery out of 4, and it's surprisingly cheap for what it is. It will distort if you max out both your bluetooth device and the speaker itself, though. However, if you're looking for something portable with some low end, this will satisfy your needs. Oh, and it comes with a microphone. Never used it, but just pointing it out.

u/sudormdashrf · 1 pointr/Dodge

I would assume it would work with apple only. I have the Uconnect screen in my journey. The easiest way to ditch the aux cord would be to buy a USB bluetooth, plug bluetooth adapter into the USB port and plug the AUX cable into that or buy one of the FM adapters.

Something like this https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Receiver-Streaming-Portable-Wireless/dp/B076QF7FLZ

or something like this https://www.amazon.com/SmartCharge-Transmitter-Bluetooth-Receiver-Charger/dp/B0719SNR5N

I personally used a USB bluetooth one with the aux cable in my old E90 BMW cuz that had a 12V port inside the center console so it was easier to just plug that crap in there where I'd never have to touch it and just use the bluetooth that way haha.

u/nadmah10 · 1 pointr/cars

You're going to want to use a cassette adapter for best sound quality. You can also use an FM transmitter, but those will be wireless, and won't have good sound quality.
EDIT: this one looks pretty good.

I have one of these and even at $40 its a steal of a deal. Not only does is sound great (and better than my old JBL flip) and its splash resistant and no joke the battery lasts over 15 hours continuous play. I've owned it for three months now and I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to charge it.

u/emceegull · 1 pointr/AskElectronics

I don't think this is what you are asking, but the dock is plugged in via a standard ac power adapter. I will try to get an innards photo view for you. I think you maybe onto something with incorporating a loop with a 9v that only goes to the dock while excluding the power for the speakers. I feel like there may be an easier solution since they have a similar bluetooth stereo that runs off of the same battery

You might also consider if Bluetooth is something you'd be interested in with such a device. Here's another option that has that: http://www.amazon.com/HMDX-HX-P230GY-Bluetooth-Wireless-Blackberry/dp/B007R6HUFI/

I don't own one, so can't verify how good it is, but it has good reviews on Amazon.

Here's another option that's AA powered. Which might be better in the sense that the batteries will last longer. 3-4 vs 25 hrs.

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-D100-Wireless-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B003N9SR00/

Also, with a Li-ion option, you will need to make sure to charge it right before you're going to have to use it because those types of batteries lose their charge over a matter of weeks. Regular batteries last years otherwise.

I put in my classic truck and play the Dead via iPhone. It has a battery life of aprox 8 hours. Found this out on my drive to SPAC for Dead&Co show. But I also have a cheap charger for it to use via my truck lighter.

I also use the mini poolside as I have just moved and have yet to set up my "system".

The mini works awesome. No issues. Had it for 1 year. Easy to use. The sounds is not audiophile. It sounds great in my all metal truck and sounds decent outside at my pool. Would not be good for entertaining.

No batteries needed and charges pretty quick.

u/jokerswild_ · 2 pointsr/iphone

it's been awesome. I discovered my car's powerpoint can be keyed or always-live (the powerpoint fuse is actually a jumper - move it over pins 1-2 to make it always-live and move it over pins 2-3 in the fusebox to make it hot when the key is turned and unpowered when the key is removed) -- this means I get in the car & turn on the key and bluetooth autoconnects to my phone. Turn off the car and it disconnects. I get a call & all I have to do is switch the radio to preset 1 (set to 88.1 - the frequency that worked best for me with the X2mini) and hit 'answer'. It's almost as good as a factory-installed system. Sound is crystal-clear with no interference or static.

There's also an X3 & X3 mini now, but they went with a different, more-square formfactor ( X3: www.amazon.com/FlexSMART-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Technology-Handsfree/dp/B00BMYQTYE -- X3 Mini: www.amazon.com/FlexSMART-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Technology-Handsfree/dp/B00EPQ0U2S) and the X2 shape worked better in my car.

I'd highly recommend this unit as a Bluetooth speaker. It gets really loud, lasts for about 80 hours, has AM/FM/AUX, and charging capabilities. The price is right and quality is good. Ion makes a couple other units, the Jobsite rocker is really nice too.

u/fernly · 1 pointr/prius

Yeah my 2012 has this amazingly inconvenient USB plug in the bottom front wall inside the console. You cannot see it, only feel it. When I can get my iPod Nano plugged in to it it does show up on the audio and I can browse and select any playlists or album titles. Podcasts and audio books show up as "albums".

But however, an older model with the cheap stereo option might have a cassette player, and if so, a cassette adapter like this works fine. Actually, it works better because you control the audio with the ipod or iphone screen.

u/halathon · 1 pointr/fortlauderdale

Cheaper suggestion will be using FM transmitter like this one. But the sound quality isn’t as good as Bluetooth or wired. It will cost you $15-30

If you spend a more, you can change the whole head unit. Maybe something like this JVC. If you install it yourself, it will cost you around $100.

If you are keeping this car for another few year, i suggest change the headunit, it will give you more flexibility in the future. If you're planning to trade it or sell it in the near future, get the FM transmitter.

This is probably out of the price range you're looking for but I swear by this thing. 50 hour battery life and it puts out a lot noise. Definitely worth the investment down the line

It unfortunately won't, but your timing is very good. We have two lightning deals launching on Amazon this afternoon:

JBL Charge 2+ for $67.95 at 2:50 PM Pacific Time (5:50 PM Eastern): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y3SD44E

JBL Pulse 2 for $101.95 at 4:50 PM Pacific Time (7:50 PM Eastern): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0147JTPY6 (both colors)

u/djdementia · 1 pointr/technology

This one is $11: https://smile.amazon.com/SoundBot-Bluetooth-Resistant-Handsfree-Speakerphone/dp/B00IGUUYTI/

But I recommend going with something a little nicer, I have this one which was $27: https://smile.amazon.com/Omaker-M4-Portable-Bluetooth-Playtime/dp/B00RBIC1IS/

I like the battery life on it. If I'm just using it for my shower I only need to charge it like once a month or less.

Also if I forget to turn it off after the shower on accident, the battery survives 24+ hours on standby till the next days shower.

u/the_disco_pimp · 1 pointr/cars

get this $18 bluetooth transmitter if you want bluetooth streaming rather than aux cord, since phones are ditching that for some reason... anyway it works great

u/LDXIV · 24 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Check this one out. I haven't bought it but going to pretty soon.

I got one of these Anker speakers for someone recently and it bumps! Plus it has a 24 hour battery!

I'll be replacing my current Photive speaker very soon probably...doesn't have as much low end as the Anker and the battery only lasts about 7 to 8 hours max. It is waterproof though and sounds great in the shower!

u/Skitch_n_Sketch · 2 pointsr/audiophile

UE Boom 2 seems to be the best in that range.

Been using this for over a yeah with zero issues.

Of course if you live in a dense metro area the number of clear frequencies could be an issue. Especially with radio stations over modulating all the time.

I use this little Bluetooth thingie. Image The thing I like over typical bluetooth headphones is the ability to use whatever headphones I want.

the regular boom sounds awesome and can be found for 199 or less.

OK, so - this is turning into a MacGuyver situation - but here... what if you had your Xbox/Projector connected to one of these - that little device broadcasts Bluetooth whatever you give it at the Line In jack.

It is perhaps a step closer to solving this....

u/juli_franch · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I loaded demos on a real C64 using one of these http://www.amazon.com/RCA-AH600R-Car-Cassette-Adapter/dp/B000BUN79K plugged to my phone and a datasette drive. First, you have to download a tape or single file demo, you convert it to a .TAP file and then convert it to a .WAV file and save it to the phone. Then it gets tricky, because you must play the audio file at the exact moment when you hear the drive motors start spinning. It's a bit annoying, but I can't afford a 1541 floppy drive, so it's a low-cost solution to load programs.

u/Manezinho · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

Some audio products are timeless, and if you build modular (avoid all in one) you can keep them current to whatever connection technology is in vogue by swapping a transmitter.

A cheap example: Bookshelf speakers , cheap amplifier, bluetooth receiver.

Aside from the speakers, I haven't done too much research on the components. I'm trying to illustrate the example. By buying modular, you're able to upgrade, keep up with new technologies, etc. All this without throwing away an entire all-in-one system and having far superior quality in the process.

This is outside your budget, but not much: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-984-000181-Bluetooth-Wireless-Speaker/dp/B005KQ2O26

Although it has an internal battery and can be portable, it actually sounds better with the power plugged in (adds more power to the base).

On the go, to work, or to the gym I wear these, one charge normally lasts me like 2 and half days of regular use.

I have the same family of speaker you pictured but the second generation in black. Got it for like a blue bill on a christmas sale. I take that to friends houses just in case they got some extra weak set up shit.

I game and "designated dj" with these turtle beach x01s

On my new PC i have these old logitech speakers and subwoofer combo that still boom, got them a few years back for like $20ish

On my main TV i just have the stock built in speaker.

Yes, my mb includes bluetooth, however it does not support APTX LL (and i couldnt really find a mb on the market which does). So i use an additional usb bluetooth dongle. Range is not great with the usb dongle, so u might get something "bigger" with Bluetooth 5.0 and aptx LL support like this one. I think i would not buy the usb dongle again.

u/brandoncampbell · 1 pointr/vinyl

I just picked these up and they are absolutely fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a mid-range set up, not cheap by any means but they wont break the bank either

Is an aptX LL transmitter compatible with aptX headphones? I just purchased a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 wireless headphones which support aptX. I am using them primarily on PC and want to add an aptx transmitter to my PC. Most of the ones available say "aptX Low Latency". If I buy an "aptX Low Latency transmitter" will my headphones still benefit from the aptX or will I have to get a specific transmitter that is aptX only?

Here is one example,
and another.

Will these work with my headphones? If not, any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

If it helps, I've been using this for a while anyway. It's a Bluetooth stereo adapter with controls. Lasts 8 hours, charges with micro USB. With this, I don't have to worry about the wire reaching my pocket or getting tangled in things. Plug anything you want into it; I use Etymotic hf5. $22. Get one of those devices that plugs into the headphone jack, then has the "cassette" on the other end. Then you can use a portable CD player (like we did back in the 90's) or your mp3 player/smart phone and listen to whatever FSI/Michael Thomas/Assimil/native podcasts you want.

Bluetooth FM Transmistter

I don't have an AUX port in my car, but I want to listen to my phone audio over my car speakers. So I bought that. My phone pairs its BT to it and it transmits an FM signal. I tune my car radio to that FM signal and can hear the phone's audio now. Neat. I can choose the broadcast frequency too, so I choose 106.7 FM because there's no radio station in my area on that frequency. I'm guessing the broadcast range is like 15-20 feet.

What's weird to me is that if you're listening to the radio, say 100.7 FM, and some nimrod drives by you and you hear their shit, they've chosen to broadcast over an existing frequency in your area rather than finding an unused one. I always assumed I'd get a better signal if I wasn't competing with an actual radio station in my city, so I chose an unused frequency. If you drove by me listening to static on 106.7 FM you'd hear my audiobook once you got close to me.

u/Super_Midget · 1 pointr/AndroidQuestions

If the tape deck works you just need a regular ole cassette adapter you can pick up at most stores like Walmart, target and such. If it doesn't work you need an FM transmitter instead
