Hmm, that's a good question. I am leaning towards yes, I would have still done it when I did. I am fairly certain the follicles in my temples are dead, so I would get a transplant regardless at some point. And considering how long it takes to grow in (3 - 12 months) vs. breast growth vs desire to present female, yeah, I definitely would. I didn't want to have boobs sticking out with a masculine, balding head!

I did consider the fact that FFS could bring my hairline down, but since it may be covered in Oregon sometime soon (so my endo says), I though I should wait to get it, and save me some money. That said, 2000 hairs cost me $8k in the USA (I got a Care Credit Card with 2 years to pay it off interest free).

Never ever quit the Rogaine!!! And if you are feeling like spending just a little more, here is everything I do:

  • A nice, natural shampoo and conditioner. Only wash with shampoo every other day; your natural oils are a good thing.
  • Get an Rx for Finasteride 1mg (Propecia is 1mg, and Proscar is 5mg that should be cut up unless its given by your endo as a blocker, for example, if you cant handle Spiro). I take morning and night, but shhhhh that's "bad form." I'm paranoid and have my husband get the extra dose via Rx. You can also get it online if you pay far more.
  • Propidren OTC DHT blocker from Amazon.
  • Hairfluence supplement (it has a lot of things a women's multivitamin would, plus more).
  • MSM 1000mg taken 4x a day (There is a little bit in Hairfluence).
  • Biotin 10,000mcg supplement (There is a little bit in Hairfluence).
  • I take a Cal/Mag/Zinc supplement to counteract some hairloss from my seizure medication (AEDs commonly fuck up the nutrients your hair needs)
  • Rogaine 5% Foammorning and night. I fucking hate it because it makes my hair stiff and gross, but I will switch to nightly only once I can pull of some feminine hairstyles. You can get generic [liquid] Rogaine that is drastically less expensive, but it's such a mess I couldn't stand it.
  • The big budget item I have is my laser helmet. Cold Laser Therapy has been cleared by the FDA to treat hair loss but its pricey. Two years ago it cost me $600. People like to knock it, but hey, it works for me and they had them on display at the office I got my transplant at.

At the end of the day, every doctor will say, "You are on testosterone blockers, you don't need Finasteride or Rogaine or XYZ because you don't have testosterone." I have yet to find a patient who agrees with that; even if you have female range T, that little bit can still make DHT which is a big culprit along side genetics. And frankly, all of this is cheaper than an insured Orchi., the only way you are going to get your T down to almost zero.

Cheers, I'm off to get my first injection, which I hope puts the pedal to the metal.

This is a very vague question, which makes it difficult to answer. They are definitely not all equal, but I think for this particular supplement, they are all very close. If you want me to help you compare a few brands, I definitely can.

Labdoor is a great place to start if you want to compare brands and their purity/ingredient quality. Labdoor unfortunately has no MSM section. They do however have a Glucosamine section. Almost always, Glucosamine is paired with MSM, and Labdoor does test for actual MSM amount per serving (compared to label-claimed MSM per serving). You can find those results ranked per brand here: https://labdoor.com/rankings/glucosamine

Since they are grading the purity of MSM, you can see if any of the top brands in that particular list also offer MSM-only supplements, decoupled from Glucosamine. Some of them definitely do.

Bluebonnet came up very high in the rankings, and they do sell MSM powder:
https://www.amazon.com/BlueBonnet-MSM-Powder-8-Ounces/dp/B001FXQDDY/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1541744532&sr=8-3&keywords=bluebonnet+msm

Hope that helps.

I highly recommend taking MSM. It's amazing, it's a natural sulfur compound found in rainwater and wild plants, but since we mostly (if not entirely) eat farm-produced produce, we don't get MSM in our diets. It's excellent for your nails, hair and skin, I take it daily and it makes such a difference, plus it's inexpensive.

You can buy it in capsules, or buy it in bulk and add a few teaspoons in to your drinking water.

Also, as far as hair masks go, if you're looking for something inexpensive, coconut oil is really good. Usually when I do a coco-oil hair mask, I apply it at night, brush it through and leave in overnight, and wash out in the morning. Just make sure you use a little extra shampoo to get all of the oil out.

May I ask which shampoo/conditioner you use, as well as hair products and what type of styling tools you use?

> Lifting is still progressing but noticing the last couple weeks a lot of joint pain. Just overall stiff and achy in the joints.

Try taking some MSM capsules - they are natural and really make a difference with joint aches and pains.

You do recognize the connection between this

>One thing that happened this week was my boss (female) and another co-worker (not the "co-worker" who has been hitting on me for months) separately were talking to me in their offices and literally staring at my arms the entire time. At one point I looked at my boss and said, "My eyes are up here." and gave her the go girl face. She laughed fixed her hair and smailed and said, "I guess I just never noticed till now but you are jacked." Now this is the Director of North American IT for a Fortune 500 company saying this, tlak about a confidence boost. She has touched my arm every time I see her since then.

and this

>So a couple things this week. The relationship is improving immensely. I have now lowered my rejections to maybe 50/50 and really only when it would be the second time that day, she is unquestionably tired or just logistically wouldnt be feasible.

right? True abundance mentality FTW!

>Third and this was a big one. I stayed home from work yesterday to go to a parent visitation event for my youngest. We got home and are eating lunch and she asks me if I want to watch a show on Netflix. Mind you this is 1 in the afternoon. I said no but I will happily talk to you about Netflix and chill. She laughed and paused for a second and said, "I will do Netflix and chill with you if you run errand x for me later." I simply raised my eye brows to her. She said, "no I wouldn't do that, I am not a whore." I smirked at her and said, "You're my whore." She blushed purple and looked down at her food. I walked over to her grabbed her hair and said, "arent you?" She said, "I am". I said, "how about we skip the Netflix and the errands and go straight to chill?" Fucked the hell out of her.

This is a fantastic turnaround here! Good on you for being able to come up with the right things on the spot and turn it into a good lay - that shows how much you've internalized this stuff.

You say "used ice daily". However, my feeling is that you're not using it enough. What I do is fill a lemonade pitcher fucking full of cold water and ice so you can submerge up to your forearm and the water doesn't overflow. Keep it there as long as you can. At first, this will only be like 10 seconds, but you'll be able to get this up to a few minutes. Have a towel for when you get out of the cold icy water. Let your hand/arm dry, then go back in. Do this five or ten times while watching tv etc. It really gets your heart going!

Couple this by purchasing a 44-pack tub of "Animal Flex" and take down like 4 of those fuckers a day. Bonus points if you take a teaspoon of MSM powder and mix it with a glass of water once per day.

I'd also suggest tai chi and qigong for RSI's.

Take this shit seriously.

u/Raherin · 1 pointr/foreskin_restoration

I have read that MSM cream helps really well. I just bought mine, so I can't attest to the results yet, but even if it saves 5-10% of the time it takes to restore entirely then I think it's well worth it. The jar I got of it looks like it's going to last for a long long time because you need so little to apply it. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000WSEU74/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/ilovewesties · 7 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

The full name is: Methylsulfonylmethane. Basically it's an organic form of sulfur that's naturally derived. It helps collagen from within. That's why it also helps people with arthritis. Lots of skincare products contain MSM, but it has very little effect topically.

Not only does it help fine lines and wrinkles, over time it also helps skin texture. This is the one I order: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NPKFCA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

u/Lemonhead33 · 1 pointr/FancyFollicles

If you are interested in vitamins/supplements to help your hair grow a bit faster you could do that. I currently take 10,000 mcg of biotin, 1,000 mg of MSM, and 800 mcg of folic acid. I have noticed a dramatic difference in speed of hair growth.

u/doctor_shim · 1 pointr/funny

A good, worst tasting alternative is Methylsulfonylmethane. Take a nice, big tablespoon and mix in water. Very bitter, but helps a hangover a good bit.

u/outofhell · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

This optiMSM powder is almost the same price per gram ($18.8 vs $17.4 per gram MSM).
Actually I just got my first sulphur soap today. It isn't even a soap, but a soapfree pH 6 sulphur bar cleanser. So I suppose that one should be okay, but I will see (it's name is "Schwefel-Seife Waschstück" from "Blücher-Schering", a German brand).
This (also here) sulfur soap seems to be popular too. It claims to have a pH of 6 and has also 3% salicylic acid. A pH of 6 is too high though for the salicylic acid (SA) to work properly as an exfoliant, so I wouldn't rely on the SA in there.

u/beanieb · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

These are the MSM tablets I was thinking of getting, but maybe I'll try a sulfur soap before I get that. Do you think the sulfur soaps work okay as primary cleansers? I'll look into Paula's Choice - it seems to be a favorite in the rosacea community.

u/timelessdrifter · 1 pointr/kratom

I really recommend it. I've been using Kala MSM Flakes, a full scoop in the morning and I immediately miss it when/if I run out. I would recommend starting out on the smallest dose (it comes with a double-ended scoop), so one half of the small scoop, and working your way up over the weeks.

u/SillySillyGirl · 2 pointsr/asktransgender

Not sure what it is but here it is :) Read the Amazon reviews, I'm not the only one it works for.

u/Lizard301 · 1 pointr/Rosacea

Edit: So it looks like I purchased my first container of MSM on April 6th of last year. :)

> 2000 mg MSM (sulfur) -- this is good for your joints but it also prolongs your hair growth phase so you shed less

I've been wondering about this! I shed a lot but am worried that I'm not growing enough hair back to compensate. It mostly comes out when I'm brushing, but still! How long did you take the MSM before you noticed it working? Would any brand work, like NOW? http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-MSM-1000mg-Capsules/dp/B000Z8ZKW0/ref=sr_1_2?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1453149038&sr=1-2&keywords=msm

u/itsmemikeyy · 1 pointr/explainlikeimfive

I used to have really bad RLS due to Osgood-schlatter but at the beginning of this year I began to experiment with some natural remedies and found [MSM](http://www.amazon.com/LIGHTS-NUTRITION-Sulfur-Defense-MSM/dp/B009K62S28/](Methylsulfonylmethane) to be my cure. I mixed the recommended dose in warm water every morning for a month and have maybe one flair up a month, if any, now.

u/lmolayem · 2 pointsr/PCOS

I get my MSM on amazon.com https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Way-MSM-1000mg-Tablets/dp/B00016AHIS and take 2 a day. I never had hair loss on my scalp, just EXTREMELY thin hair that was always falling out (what my hair looked like in a single braid looked like someone else's THIN double braid). I was diagnosed with PCOS very young at around 13 years old, and hair falling out was always a problem. I still shed quite a bit (hair is all over my house) but I have a very full head of hair now that I really never thought I would have. For the first time- I love my hair (which I never thought would happen). Give it a go. No side effects whatsoever and incredibly inexpensive.

This is the stuff that I use, it is 99% pure so its very good for that price. It comes with its own scoop, one side is 1 tsp and the other is 2 tbs. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000NPKFCA/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

>How can I get potassium without calories?

Usually, I just supplement with the potassium salt directly (without food).

Another option is Emergen-C MSM. It contain's a decent balance of sodium, magnesium, potassium, and a few other vitamins and minerals.

u/nat911 · 2 pointsr/NaturalBeauty

I had this weird cystic breakout on the side of my face for months, most likely from stress. I just figured out a skincare regimen that works for me. I have combination skin.

First I wash with Dr. Woods Black Soap or a cleansing wipe if I'm too lazy to wash my face. Then I swab my face with Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel. After that, I apply tea tree oil in dabs on the areas where I have breakouts. After it's dry, I apply MSM cream all over my face and neck. (If you have very sensitive skin, this might not be the best option. Some of the reviews claim it makes sensitive skin burn.) Throughout the day, I dab small amounts of this 10% sulfur cream to the breakouts a few times a day while doing chores or busy work, when I'm not wearing makeup. The sulfur cream was the key ingredient in healing my breakout. 3 or 4x a week, I'll use Indian Healing Clay mixed with apple cider vinegar and water. I also spray with Rosewaterto keep my skin moist without my pores getting clogged.

I've never had boils, but I suggest steaming your face, then putting the healing clay on. This will open up your pores wide before the clay pulls out all of the gunk.

This is what worked for me over a 5-day period after having cystic acne on one area of my cheek for 3 months. The area is almost completely healed, and I'm continuing the regimen. The MSM cream seems to be healing other scars and imperfections on my skin as well. I'm not a beauty expert and this regimen may be too harsh for some people's skin, but after months of frustration and this is what worked for me.

I hope this helps!

*Edit: annaqua is totally right. I found that yeast, sugar, and caffeine are triggers for me. Try going on a juice cleanse and you may see a huge difference right away.
