I generally do my designs using nail polish, but most people find it easier to paint details using acrylic craft paints. If you don't have much experience with nail polish, that would probably be the way to go. You can pick up a small set at an art store with several different colors of paint, and use those to mix any other shades you need.

Use a coat or two of nail polish in whatever color you want for a background, then paint a design on top with acrylics. You'll need to use a topcoat over the paint, to keep it from washing off in water. I recommend Seche Vite topcoat, which you can often find at a place like Walmart or Target. The topcoat will also make the surface smooth and shiny.

As far as brushes, there are a lot of different options. Some people use regular artist brushes, in very small sizes, and some people use specialized sets. I like this set of nail art brushes personally. If there are any stray hairs or if the brush is just too large, you can trim them down (which I learned to do from this video). Hope that helps!

EDIT: Why are people downvoting this comment? Confused.

Hello!

You should try look at some blogs and tutorials if you need some ideas on where to start. Find a design you want to do on your own nails and then go buy the polishes needed to do it.
That's how my collection started and usually the only reason I buy new polishes.

Also, you might want to get (or put on your wishlist) some dotting tools and some striper brushes. they help with making really fun designs. :)

I read that too, but I wonder if it's specifically for really curved nails? I've never had a problem with chipping from clipping. I also read that you should file only in one direction, not back-and-forth. Hope that helps too!

Nail brushes look like this! My mom always had one at the sink when I was a kid. Sometimes I also just hold my fingertips up to the showerhead when I'm in the shower; sometimes the water pressure is enough to clean them out.

Grab a nail brush! They’re great at cleaning under nails without causing any issues. And they’re cheap, which is always a win.

Thanks! It’s the super fine one from this set:

I recommend using first Goop waterless hand cleaner and then Lava soap. Also use a small brush for fingernails.

I'd be more concerned with having a better grip on tools/parts than the grease or oils soaking in... it's called a fingernail brush. get one.

Nickel is harder than brass, so unless the plating is already damaged a brass bristle brush won't hurt it. I have used one on dozens of vintage razors so far and it hasn't hurt the plating yet. Just don't use it on a gold-tone razor as it will scratch the gold off.

To be clear, I am talking about a brush like this, not a grill cleaning brush or something.

If you are really worried, you could get a nylon nail brush, which will also work but won't work as well.

You brush it with a fingernail brush or a dishwashing brush -sorry for slaveryamazon link.

Put only washed or peeled vegetables on your cutting board, don't peel over it.

Regarding the smell on your hands... get a scrub brush.

I use these because they have the nail brush on the top. I've used others but they all work, these ones are just meant for hands so the bristles aren't too stiff. I scrub my hands and forearms up to my elbows in the shower. Never deal with that smell or grimy feeling again.

I use this acrylics kit

This brush because the one in the above kit is terrible. It also has a dotting point on the back.

And Essie gel nail polish!

Viel besser: die sollten einfach den Zug auch wieder selber reinigen müssen, bevorzugt mit ner kleinen Nagelbürste, damit die auch 40+ Stunden beschäftigt sind.
