1.) These postcards are mostly grey. And black and white. And they are also good for grey days. :)

2.) This is The Dead Weather's debut album. A good one. (jack white <3 <3 <3)

3.) As you will see on the track listing, the eponymous The White Stripes album has TWO songs on it that relate to food: "Sugar Never Tasted So Good" and "One More Cup of Coffee". Plus, the cover has the traditional swirly mints of The White Stripes. (Also, this one reminded me that I don't have Neutral Milk Hotel's first album on my list! So thanks for that.)

4.) The postcard books are for my friends. I send postcards to them. This TOTALLY counts. Especially the David Choe ones since David Choe is amazing. And I know that my friends like his art.

5.) If there is ANY chance that you have not read Sabriel, you need too. Really, really, really.

6.) This was on my list, but was removed after the lovely /u/scrumtrelescent sent it to me! And heads are definitely not related to hair, because heads can be bald. And the biggest annoyance about these things is that they sometimes get stuck in your hair. So it's really an advantage if you have no hair. :)

7.) This postcard book is actually titled "Wicked Witches and Creepy Cats", so there are lots of cats in it. If you look inside, you will see a cat dancing with an owl, an awesome dress covered in cat faces, and a very cute cat in a pumpkin. Also some truly scary cartoonish cats. Avoid the one in the bowtie. shudder

8.) I really don't need another dress, but this one is so cute!

9.) So...I don't have movies on my list that I have seen before. I actually only have this one. BUT. I can save this. This is a Studio Ghibli film. And Studio Ghibli films are awesome. (Spirited Away is my favorite movie <3) So...my argument is, everyone should watch every Studio Ghibli movie at least once in their life because they're so great. Which is why I want it! :)

10.) When zombies attack, it is important to be able to run quickly. No one could run faster than someone wearing SUPERMAN SNEAKERS!! I mean, he's faster than a speeding bullet!

11.) My biggest current goal is to make new friends, since I'm moving to a new city (eek! yay!). Board games always help with friends! This would definitely help me out.

12.) I'm going to interpret "pesky Add-On items" as anything that a company encourages you to purchase after an initial purchase of an item. Instead of what you really meant. So you should probably just ignore this one. BUT. An expansion to Munchkin would be so fun! Even if you don't really need it at all... <3

13.) I wouldn't call this my dream item, but it is the most expensive item on my list. This NES game for a number of reasons. First, it's a GREAT game. Second, I think it's funny having an amazingly expensive item on my list. Thirdly, what if someone actually bought me the "new" one? That would be Amazing.

14.) (I love the edit-I always just knew what size a breadbox was from playing 20 questions with my mom...) So. I don't really have large items on this list so much. BUT. [Fabric] (http://www.amazon.com/Aviary-Sparrows-Cavern-Black-Fabric/dp/B004VNVE7A/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=NO029QAH2C2U&coliid=IEEZTV09MV12V), while perhaps being able to fold up into something smaller than a bread box, could also wrap around the bread box. This must count for something. It's already 42" across, so that's wider than a bread box...Plus, what if you just purchased 100 yards of it? Then it wouldn't fit inside...

15.) My dad has one of these and it is so useful. I want one too! I'm pretty sure it's smaller than a golfball. It's possible that it's longer than one, but if you smushed it into little pieces, the total volume would definitely be less than that of a golfball. :P

16.) If I ordered this now, it would be brand new when I recieved it in September, and new books just smell SO GOOD!

17.) I love Rio Grande games, so I really want to try Power Grid. Plus, if you worked at an electrical company, your boss might even think you were just hard at work on some new electrical line, soooo it's definitely safe for work. (hehehe)

18.) Since I'm starting grad school this year in a new city, far from my undergrad friends, I need chocolate to help me when I'm sad and lonely! (Another good way to make friends, too!)

19.) This summer, the only thing I've been doing is making things. I really want to get into making hats (for some reason), so I've been rather obsessed with finding sinamay-it would be so useful to have the forms already made too...

20.) Purchasing this item gives you TWELVE Toblerone bars (you get two of the beautiful 6-pack boxes that you see pictured. That's ELEVEN MORE than usual!!! I can't explain the amazingness of this any better.

> I'm not saying that the pixel with 2gb of ram would be good... I'm saying that, if it was optimized around that from the beginning, the user experience would still be flawless, because the entire phone is designed around the specific hardware...

...so you're saying the pixel with 2gb of RAM would be so good it's flawless? I'm not sure what your argument is here.

> A good example are console games...

Sure, let's talk about those.

> The old generation of console had 512mb of ram if I'm not mistaken, and yet games like battlefield 3/4, Destiny and suck were able to run...

And if you think it was a "flawless" experience, allow me to introduce you to /r/pcmasterrace. Those games ran at pitiful resolutions and framerates on consoles, even compared to the 1080p60 that the Pixel can actually record! The PS3 ran hot and consumed a fair amount of power, and could only update while turned on, which means you'd get home eager to try a new game and get to "play" this exciting "game". The PS4 is far from perfect, but at least this much has been fixed -- there's a low-power "rest" mode, and if you pay them, it will auto-update while you're asleep.

Those consoles also generally only did one thing at a time -- a game and, maybe, if you were lucky, chat. It's not like it was syncing your email and photos in the background while you were playing the way a smartphone does. You couldn't even have a website open at the same time as a game, like you might want on a PC.

> That's 8 years old hardware now, but with good optimization it could run games made 8 YEARS after it's release!!!!

Oh come on, this is a tautology -- yes, it can run games made for it 8 years after its release, because they were still popular, therefore games were still made for it. You can still make games for the NES today -- does that mean I should be happy with a phone with 2 kilobytes of RAM in my phone?

Of course not, because not every app is made for your specific phone. Certainly not every website -- I can think of websites that, alone, would bring the consoles you mentioned to their knees.

If your argument is that you could craft a good experience with less hardware by asking it to do less, well, no argument there. But that's not what you said -- you said "flawless", and not being able to run modern apps and websites would be a very serious flaw for a smartphone to have.

If your argument is that developers like Facebook should optimize their websites and apps, that's pretty different than what you said about the Pixel -- you seemed to be saying that the Pixel would be amazing at 2 gigs if only Google would optimize it for that. Well, Google's optimizations won't magically make Facebook (and every other developer, everywhere) optimize their apps. And unless that happened, the Pixel at 2 gigs would be significantly worse than the Pixel at 4 gigs.

God damn you Forbes and your fucking money schemes. Here's the text from the article.

"Overnight, Nintendo update the official SNES Classic Edition console's webpage with links to six major retailers.

The website has changed to say "Pre-order now from these retailers" and includes links to Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Toys R Us and Walmart.

Credit: Nintendo
Get ready to pre-order the SNES Classic Edition.

What time each of these different retailers goes live is an open question at this point, but I'd urge gamers to pay careful attention today as these roll out. There's no doubt in my mind that they're going to go quickly.

Best Buy's pre-orders went live briefly last night, and it's unclear if they've already sold out entirely or if the retailer will open pre-orders up again today.

Regardless, pre-orders will be going up in the very, very near future so keep your eyes open.

Meanwhile, as of this writing the links at the SNES website go to each retailers' home page rather than a store landing page. Here are the actual landing pages for each site except Toys R Us:

Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0721GGGS9)

Walmart (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Super-Nintendo-Entertainment-System-Classic-Edition/55791858)

Best Buy (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-entertainment-system-snes-classic-edition/5919830.p?skuId=5919830)

Target (https://www.target.com/p/snes-classic-edition/-/A-52826093)

GameStop (http://www.gamestop.com/collection/snes-classic)

Toys R Us (?)
Stay tuned for updates throughout the day.

My PS / PS2 emulation knowledge is non existent (never played anything on those machines really) but I've been emulating MAME, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and N64 for years. It doesn't take much power to emulate those systems.

One easy / cheap way to do those things seems to be buying one of those new NES / SNES classic systems.

I picked up the NES last week, and then found out that the two systems have the exact same hardware and it's super easy to put extra games and even games from other systems on them. I've got my NES setup to play NES, SNES, Gameboy Advance and Sega Genesis games. It took me maybe 30 minutes to do that. (I'd recommend the SNES if you wanted to do that, it comes with 2 controllers vs the NES having only 1 and a 2 button one at that which means you'd need something with more buttons if you wanted to emulate other systems)

u/ledfrog · 2 pointsr/nintendo

You don't have to mash F5 if you're hoping to find it online. Here are the things I did that allowed me to get one pre-ordered:

  • Bookmarks - In my browser, I added 3 bookmarks leading directly to the product pages on Walmart.com, BestBuy.com and Amazon.com. Periodically, I'll check these links just in case I get lucky.
  • Accounts - At each of those three retailers, I made sure my account was updated, accessible and had at least one current payment method ready to go. If I didn't have an account, I created one.
  • Saved passwords - I use Chrome to save all my login passwords on my personal computers and the one I use at work. This allows me to log in (or stay logged in) for even faster access once the pre-order goes live.
  • In stock alerts - I signed up over at NowInStock.net to get a notification via email for when the Classic SNES is available at any of the known retailers. As another measure, I also signed up for the in-stock alerts at the retailers themselves.
  • Check Reddit - Periodically, I do a search for "classic snes" on reddit to see if someone might have reported a known pre-order launch date/time.

When the Walmart pre-order came online, I got emails from Walmart and NowInStock at exactly 8:30pm (PST) when the pre-order launched and at about 8:45pm, I opened my computer, clicked on the Walmart bookmark and since I was already logged in, I added the item to my cart and ordered it with two clicks.

Ideally, you just want to be as ready as you can before the pre-order goes live. The more time you spend logging into an account and/or typing in shipping & billing addresses and credit card numbers, the more chances you have of screwing something up or missing out entirely because the item sold out too fast or the site crashed.

Welcome home!

In a dorm, it is usually best to not bring a whole lot of stuff. If you aren't particularly organized and tidy, things can get messy.

Also, happy birthday!

I bought mine from the weird digital download link.
"Nintendo Digital Downloads/Game Trust Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition" that now points here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0721GGGS9/

I checked from my order page.

And later I got an email that said: "We recently learned that we may miss your delivery promise and apologize for the inconvenience. You will still receive your order of Super NES Classic. "

u/Lyd_Euh · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'm saving up/waiting impatiently on this Super Nintendo Classic console. It was the only gaming system I had as a kid other than a very old and frustrating Atari, so lots of fond memories. I spent hours and hours beating Super Mario over and over again. I'd love to have the reinvented classic version, and I hope it's awesome.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is everyone sure that the main Amazon page went up last night or this morning? I realize in the link provided it's sold out, but I thought this was the main one:

https://www.amazon.com/Super-NES-Classic/dp/B0721GGGS9/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503422382&sr=8-1&keywords=snes+classic

Did this go up already, or do we have another chance? Thanks

There’s a bunch out there. I think this is the one we have but can verify when I’m there in a few hours.

u/Exaskryz · 2 pointsr/nintendo

Amazon used a different listing than what was set up earlier.

Original listing: https://www.amazon.com/Super-NES-Classic/dp/B0721GGGS9/

Live listing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074XPZDQR/

Word is that they set up a second listing to thwart bots and trackers like NowInStock that would have automatically purchased on the original listing.

However, it also had the side effect that people who were signed up to be informed when the item went live through Amazon's own notification system did not get any notification - because they were signed up to be notified on the original listing only.

u/BobbyApFL · 1 pointr/nes

It's a game console that has a bunch of NES games on it - there is an SNES model too, which would probably be better for kids (except it's missing Super Mario All-Stars, which is blasphemous)... (Sorry if saying SNES is better than NES for kids is against the rules here).

You can find the NES Classic here:

For anyone who wants to try harder, this appears to be from "8bit Music Power - Riki Collection". You might be able to use the "perspective" tool in Gimp to get a usable picture out of this image. If you want a nice hi-res pic of just the character this posting has at least that.

Super Famicom is where prices start to go up, most likely because of the enhanced remake etc.

Don't bother, the article doesn't really have much info other than links to product pages at various retailers that the author thinks will be offering pre-orders soon.

Here's the list (which most of us probably already have bookmarks for already anyways): Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, GameStop. He doesn't have a link to Toys R Us because they don't have a product page yet.

There are tons more used ones then new ones now. They don't make it anymore so the only sealed ones left are the ones people bought and never opened, and how many people did that? The older the game the pricier the gap, such as Zelda on the NES

No, Amazon did something weird. The [normal item page] (https://www.amazon.com/Super-NES-Classic/dp/B0721GGGS9/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503492512&sr=8-1&keywords=snes+classic), which was the one everybody signed up to receive alerts about, was not the same as the one you were able to pre-order off of. Rumor was they did this to prevent bots from snapping them all up - but the real pre-order page just had a description of what the item was, with no image. It would show up if you searched for SNES classic, but under the original page, and it looked kinda sketchy.

I'm not sure how the alert system works (I never use 'em but still got a pre-order in). If you signed up an alert for this specific item, you got duped. Look up the product description and see for yourself.

I got:
a working NES with Super Mario Bros 1, 2, & 3, Legend of Zelda (gold cartidge), The Adventures of Link (gold cartidge), Dr. Mario - with the original box!, Mega Man 2, and RC Pro-AM Racing
Posable Mass Effect 3 "Minimates" of ManShep, Ashley, Wrex, and Garrus
Figurines of Link from Phantom Hourglass and Zelda from Ocarina of Time
The Art of the Mass Effect Universe
Mass Effect Library Edition Volume 1
"POP!" figurines of Garrus and Grunt
Steam Gift Card (which has so far purchased Mount and Blade Warband and the Ghostbusters game)
Miniature Bat-signal (it works surprisingly well)
Venture Brothers Season 5 on Blu-ray

My birthday is the day after Christmas, does that also count? I got:
A sweet Hyrule map puzzle
Anamaniacs DVD (Season 1)
My friends sBruced up my batroom (or spruced up my bathroom for the pun intolerant) with a custom blue and white batman symbol bathroom sign affixed to my batroom door, a bat-shower curtain, a classic Detective Comics poster to go with my existing Dark Knight Returns (the comic) poster, a bat-toothbrush/utility holder, a bat-soap dispenser, a bat-rug, and a bat-towel (link also features my existing shower curtain holders).

Not sure if this counts, but I also got a kit to make a working ornithopter (I'm a giant nerd for robots and the like). I also bought The Last Unicorn for myself but I think that's probably cheating.

I am quite pleased...I may have yelled "I HAVE AN NES" five or six times...an hour...all day...
