I struggled a lot trying to play video games when I was first having serious trouble with my hands. I don't know your genre of choice but mine have always been MMOs and turn-based strategy. I agree with /u/SixJointsOfPain that once you're on some sort of DMARD you will likely feel better soon, but until you do here are some of my favorite ways to ease hand stress while gaming with arthritis.

  • Compression gloves. They can help keep swelling at bay (and keep heat in during these wintery months) and ease some of the pain of swollen knuckles.
  • Ergonomic keyboard/mouse/controller. If you play anything on a system they make Monster Hunter for, try searching specifically branded ones like this. People who spend hours at a time hunting monsters on their handhelds are serious about hand comfort, I guess.
  • Breaks to stretch. Not always the easiest if you're playing something fast-paced, but people can be surprisingly considerate if you're like "hold up a sec, medical stuff". I heal a lot in WoW and 99% of players will just let it go at that or after a quick "what's wrong?" "oh I have arthritis in my hands, just needed to stretch. We're good now!" or whatever. You're (presumably?) a grown-up; you do you. ;)
  • Playing easier, slower-paced games. This can suck when all your friends are playing Overwatch but like... The Sims 4 is pretty neat. And Animal Crossing and Pokemon never really get old, do they? :)
  • Find new ways to enjoy the games you love. I personally collect dolls and figures so one of my non-gaming hobbies is posing and photographing my Link figma in all sorts of silly ways and places. Papercraft is also really cool-- and I believe there is software to convert game models straight into papercraft projects.

I hope this was at all helpful and not just a lot of reading for no payoff. :x I also hope you feel better soon. When I quit WoW four years ago I thought I would never be back but I'm literally logged in right now on my healer in the window behind the one I'm typing this comment in. Modern medicine is amazing.
If you want someone understanding to commiserate with on bnet (I think I saw some Overwatch in your post history lol) I'm eiridel#1620. This goes for anyone who reads this comment, but please just let me know who you are when you friend me lmao

For both N3DS and N3DSXL systems

Some of these can also be found from retailers online, like Best Buy and Target. I generally use Best Buy, Amazon, and eBay, but check other retailers just in case.

Case: Looking for a protector that protects your system from scratches? Most people recommend the HORI TPU case. NA currently has one for the XL (LL in Japan), but you'll have to import one for the standard size.

  • HORI TPU case for N3DSXL or sometimes the one from Japan is cheaper.
  • HORI TPU case for N3DS, or just search "New 3DS HORI TPU" and look for the ones without XL/LL in the title.

Looking for a pouch to keep your system from dust or to carry on-the-go and protect them from falls? There's sooo many options you can just search up on Amazon and eBay, not to mention other Japanese import sites.

  • HORI Hard Pouch for N3DSXL is what I went with for my Fire Emblem N3DSXL. Looks plain and I admit I usually go for something different, but when I received it, it screamed good quality. It's black and looks classy, and there's room for 6 cartridges and a stylus. It also fits a system with the HORI TPU on. Alternatively, you can use this for the standard N3DS because it has a strap that will keep it in place.
  • CyberGadget Mint Semi-Hard case for N3DSXL - I originally went for this one. It's fine if you just want to carry around your system, but that's all the room it has. It also had a weird chemical smoky smell that I'm still trying to air out (it's been over 2 weeks now). If the smell ever gets out, I'll use it. Maybe it's just the one I purchased.
  • Trunk Case for N3DS - I have the blue one, and it's decent quality. These trunk cases seem to be in and out of stock though, and prices are unstable. If you can find one for a good price, I'd recommend it.

Screen Protectors: Screens will inevitably get scratched, as careful as anyone can be. If you're someone who cannot stand scratches or want to keep your system in perfect condition, you can't go wrong with screen protectors.

  • HORI Standard Screen Protectors for N3DSXL is what I had on my old N3DSXL. Here's one for the N3DS. Appliance is easy and they don't interfere with the 3D at all.
  • HORI Blue Light Filtering Screen Protectors for N3DSXL and ones for the N3DS - I just wanted to reduce the blue light because I mainly play before I sleep. Research a bit about blue light if you'd like. I like them, they do the same job as the standard ones with the added blue light filtering.

Micro SD card: Can't go wrong with Sandisk, and I purchased the 32GB since that's the highest Nintendo says the system will support. Any higher and you have to format it to FAT32 in your PC so the system will recognize it. Any good brand will be fine though, but I just go with Sandisk all the time.

Stylus: This DSi stylus is so damn comfortable. I never thought it mattered because I just put up with the cramping, but I purchased some items on the Nintendo Online store, so I went for it. It's all I use now. The cheapest shipping is $5 on the store though, so go for it when you're ordering other items with it.

    Customization?
    For N3DS
Coverplates: Amazon.JP if you have a forwarding service like Tenso. I like AmiAmi, but it's hard to catch the plates sometimes. PlayAsia tends to be more pricey, so sometimes you're better off just looking on eBay if your last resort is PlayAsia.

    For N3DSXL and N3DS

Charms: Basically the same as the above. Many options around Etsy, just search what you want up. Up to your discretion. :)

    Overall
Yeah, I'm a HORI fan. Their products have been solid for me, so I have no qualms with them. I just wish more of their products would appear in NA so shipping times would be shorter, but I think the wait times have been worth it anyway.
u/Khirsah01 · 3 pointsr/3DS

I use TPU cases for both of my N3DSXL's and another one I had to special order from overseas for my N3DS. They do a good job of protecting the systems and still allow me to see the designs on them since I wanted something clear as I have Monster Hunter faceplates on my black N3DS looks like this, and my XLs are the Galaxy Blue and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate units.

For carrying around, I have an Amazon Basics Case that is small and light and fits in a backpack or purse easily while protecting the whole system. Fits both N3DS and N3DSXL units with the TPU cases on and uses the elastic bands to hold them in place.

For storing at home so they're kept in good shape: I have two of the Smatree Hard Protective Carrying Case which is a much bulkier case, and allows me to keep a 3DS charger with the units if I don't put much else in the zippered pouch on the top half. The inner pouch with the ability to lift it out is an interesting design for keeping the system protected and is a snug fit for N3DSXL's with the TPU case on, but still doable.

Amazon Link for HORI N3DSXL TPU case. It used to be much cheaper, so look around to find the best price.

Amazon Link for the Japanese version HORI N3DSXL TPU case. This alternate link is about half the price for the same exact product that's above.

eBay link for a New 3DS TPU case. I recommend this for N3DS units as the glossy plates are easy to scratch on N3DS units and the plates can be hard to get as it is, don't want them to get scratched when they're hard to find or expensive.

Finally, no matter what unit you get: Always use a screen protector and get one once you decide which system to get to have it ready for when you finally get your system. Some people have waited on getting protectors and have scratched screens day one since the plastic over the touch screen is quite soft.

New 3DS IllumiShield Screen Protector Set

New 3DS XL Tempered Glass Protector Set Note: I have used and recommend the HORI brand, but those seem to be out of stock on Amazon and I'm not sure where to look for it.

Then, there's also GRIPS for the units as they're quite small and thin and quite a few people have problems holding their units. I like the styles from CyberGadget and use their grips, but there's also silicone grips that some people like. You can take off the TPU case on the bottom and put the grip on and just store the TPU case somewhere as you use the top half of the TPU case to protect the top shell of your unit. Obviously, any grip out there will bulk up your system and make them less portable and unable to fit in any of the cases. However if you're at home, it's nice to be more comfortable with your gaming sessions.

The two I'll link are my preferred grips for several reasons: They keep everything on the 3DS accessible as some of the grips are known for blocking off the game card slot and even the stylus, they have a game card door on the back that can store 2 game cards in there, they're easy to put on and take off, and won't scratch your system as they're covered in a rubberized material.

New 3DS Grip from CyberGadget You should be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

New 3DS XL Grip V2 from CyberGadget I use this every day on the N3DSXL that I play.

>It is. Which is why i dont agree with people bitching about how "slow" the switches hardware is. If the games on it are good (which they are), why the fuck does it matter?

Dead Cells is a fine example of why it matters.

It's a great game if you have even the most remote interest in Metroidvanias. It runs like shit on the Switch. The crappy framerates of the game significantly impact the gameplay in a game where careful timing and reflexes are required.

>I have a 3ds. While yes, they have good games, most of them are clerly designed to be purely portable games. Not to mention the fact that with my large hands, i find holding the 3ds for longer than 10 minuets at a time to be very uncomfortable. Which is why the switch is better. Not only is it more comfortable in hand held, not only can i have multiple controller options, but i can dock it and play it on my TV as well.

They make grip cases for both the Switch and the 3DS that significantly improve their feel. My hands hurt holding either of them outside their cases. For the Switch, I recommend the Satisfye grip although the Skull and Co Gripcase is a close second. For the 3ds, I personally use the Monster Hunter Cross that I've modded with a rubberized grip. This is a pretty expensive option, however, so there are cheaper ones for people who don't want to invest that much.

>Exactly. And my PC does PC things and is a superior gaming machine to my Switch. But most games that i can play on one or the other, most time, i prefer the switch. I have emulators on my phone as well. But id still rather have those games on the switch because its a better platform for gaming than a Phone is.

I disagree. I use a cheap little xbox controller phone clip to hold my phone when I game. The controller connects bluetooth and provides a generally superior experience to gaming with my Switch. My phone has better audio, a better screen, and a more powerful processor. It also has free cloud saves and can connect to the internet without wifi (anbd has a superior wifi antennae).

>Ill take the taller screen, but even that said.. your arguing over .2" as if its a huge deal. Its not.

No, it's not. The OLED vs LED is though.

Hey there! Fellow ex-circle pad pro user. I upgraded to the new 3DS XL from my 3DS XL when it dropped here in NA.

To answer your questions:

>how do you think it compares to the new systems' nubs?

To be brutally honest here, I find the CPP way more responsive compared to the system nub. have really huge hands and found that the nub was a bit tad too small for my taste. But it was still usable and definitely capable of handling the camera changes I needed.

> Which do you find more comfortable?

CPP for sure

> Do you think the nicer screen and better load times are worth the upgrade?

I can tell you right now that the increased performance from the more powerful console is a huge benefit and makes the gameplay and everything much, much smoother. I actually perform way better in hunts because of the higher frame rate. In short - yes it was worth the upgrade. You can always buy a controller grip to ease the lost of the CPP extension (if you're like me and had a more comfortable grip using the CPP). I used this grip for my new 3DS XL and it's wonderful. EDIT: Forgot to mention that the added ZL and ZR buttons for hunter arts are a huge plus as well.

u/Ziathon3 · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have both and a Vita and love them all. I play a game on the Switch, a game on the 3DS and then a game on the Vita...wash, rinse and repeat. I purchased all three systems around when the Switch came out because I decided I wanted to give mobile/handheld gaming a go. The games on the 3DS are cheaper too than brand new games, but they are a ton of fun.

The 3DS library is amazing and will give many, many hours of entertainment to both of you. The Switch has good games right now as well and also gives many hours of entertainment.

If you get a 3DS XL (although I agree that the New 2DS XL looks great since I never turn my 3D on haha), I would recommend grips like these for longer sessions. Happy gaming!

u/greedyiguana · 2 pointsr/smashbros

I actually have gone through three.

first I got the dreamgear and holding that one worked really well but i didn't like the material so much and it kept slipping off parts of the 3ds. plus it's also geared towards protection which I'm not too worried about so I returned that one

then I tried the cyber one which honestly felt the best overall to hold. I have pretty big hands and it just fit perfectly like an actual controller. But, for me at least the shoulder buttons were really hard to get to. The way my hands fit onto it, my fingers didn't rest on the shoulder buttons naturally, and trying to move them in the heat of the moment wasn't really working out.

so I returned that one, and picked up this one. I actually just got it today so I haven't gotten to try it out yet, but I've heard good things about it, and it seems like the best of both so here's hoping

u/Zachlombardi27 · 7 pointsr/3dshacks

I think I can do that for ya, honestly. I also have, for the left joystick, little caps that make grip better if that interests you too. Maybe private message me I suppose, get this goin!

Edit: and no purchasing, they're so silly cheap, I got it n the postage etc..

Edit 2: This is the left joystick cover, could hook you up with one of those. I honestly love it. Long gaming sessions are perfect for this seemingly simple and pointless lil' grip.

Edit 3: And this is the c-stick replacement. Someone else linked it above as well, but yeah, the psp-1,000 joystick or whatever. Works really great.

Edit 4: Since I'm really gettin down on all this N3DS speak, I'd like to share this as well. My goodness, it makes gaming 1,000x better. Since the grips are not directly under the 3DS, and they are almost basically on the sides, it makes it feel like a legit, comfortable ass videogame controller! (In the vein of an Xbox or PS4 controller) With how I said the grips are on the sides, it makes it not feel so damn cramped like some of the other N3DS grips can. It's seriously so, SO worth the $15 bucks.

u/dirkuscircus · 1 pointr/3DS

I have both the N3DS (Pokemon 20th Anniv. edition) and the N3DS XL (black).

Screen-wise, it's a wash between the standard and XL versions for me. One is bigger but the other one is slightly sharper. Some games definitely look better on the standard size screen. The XL screen might benefit people who plays RTS games like Fire Emblem or games that have small texts and have a lot of small details, like Monster Hunter. The 3D looks more "immersive" on the bigger screen as well.

Regarding the comfort on using the either, it depends on how you hold it. If you like your handhelds rested/buried onto your palms, the XL is for you. If not, the standard might be better. Do mind that I personally find pressing button combinations that use the shoulder buttons (e.g. R + X + A) a tad difficult on the standard model. If you plan to play games that use these buttons, like Monster Hunter and some platformers, you might need a hand grip for it.

Regarding customization, the standard N3DS definitely have the advantage with the faceplates but you can always have your N3DS XL skinned if you want. The other advantage of the standard N3DS is the matte finish, but I personally don't mind because I use a TPU cover for both of them.

To be honest, there is no absolute "better" unit between the two, because it all boils down to personal preference.

u/cranmerabacus · 0 pointsr/3DS

I bought these and they arrived today; this is the newer version of the product that you purchased. I had no issues getting them on my analog slider; they may not seem to fit at first glance and first touch, as it does take a bit of pressure and force to get them to fit properly, but after applying a fair bit of pressure onto them they will go on and stay on, and they work excellently (I have an original 3DS by the way (not XL nor new). I don't know if the newer 3DS versions have bigger sliders or not, but these seem to be made for the New 3DS yet fit fine on my old, non-XL version. They are fantastic; I use the grip with the various dots on it, and it really allows me to grip the slider extremely well. I don't have to worry about my thumb sliding off of the slider as I had to do before; using these also has greatly increased the precision with which I can use the slider stick. I can now make very subtle moves of the stick very easily with the grip. All in all, I would recommend the newer version of these grips, as they have done an excellent job of increasing the control and precision I have over my slider stick and have completely eliminated the previous soreness that my thumb would have after a 3DS playing session. I think that they are a necessity for any hardcore 3DS player who plays often.

u/xProtoZoax · 1 pointr/3DS

hey man, that really sucks, i have the Persona Q Limited Edition, and if i paint started chipping i'd be sad lol, but yeah, i recommend you look into getting a replacement shell for your 3DS, if its not too bad and you can put up with it then just cover it up with a case for now, if it gets worse just swap the shell, but it really shouldn't be chipping, unless you dropped it, but i doubt you did since you didn't mention that, if you decide to swap shells then i do recommend you protect it with a nice case, i use a clear case on mine, this is the one i use and lots of people like it :) http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-XL-Duraflexi-Protector-Clear/dp/B00GX330XW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418450426&sr=8-1&keywords=nintendo+3ds+xl+clear+case&pebp=1418450430522 that case offers great protection, its TPU, so if you drop it then it should be able to take the impact, i won't lie though, it does make it look a little foggy, so you wont be able to see the paint job very clearly, before that case i had a cheap one i got from gamestop, it was a clear plastic case, they sell it for 9 dollars, i actually really liked that one, since it doesn't mess with the clarity or anything.

oh and sorry for the long reply.

The cyber gadget one is great. The original Hori X one is pretty cool too, and I have used both (my friend got it when first released, and far less expensive).

This one has a very comfortable rubber finish, and fits big hands well. It’s keeps your wrists pointed out at more of a 45 degree angle than the Hori one does, and helps prevent scratching your system (my poor regular 3DS XL got ABUSED by the circle pad pro). Also, features a pocket to hold two cartridges, or use to hold up the system! Very comfy, seats the system well, is excellent and what I use and love.

Drawbacks- no buttons as part of the grip. There are ridges on the back that take getting used to, but still, I said this is a comfy grip. You basically just put your middle fingers across these lower grips. I would LOVE if it had L/R/ZL/ZR buttons, but simply gives you access to comfy access to the actual buttons on the system. This is definitely where the Hori one does better, by providing big triggers on the grip, but this definitely works.

————————-

As someone who just recently bought a grip, specifically for playing 4U, this is the one to go with, and is cost efficient and of great quality

u/xeronut · 2 pointsr/emulation

These screen protectors and this hand grip work reasonably well as replacement accessories, as the only one made for the GPD XD (that I've found) is the soft case (which is pretty nice). They are not perfect fits, but get the job done.

Also, if you use your HDMI-out (mini-HDMI, not micro-HDMI) you'll want to power the device down, then plug in the cables, then power it back up or you'll have sync issues. You can also close the device while streaming video or games - it won't go to sleep but will turn the device's screen off.

Finally, the apps loaded on the system are all free versions of stuff on Google Play and the preloaded ROM/ISO selection leaves a bit to be desired but is a nice bonus. Anything more powerful than a Dreamcast isn't viable (and even that has performance issues on some titles). Pretty much every Android game I've thrown at it runs well too.

-edit- One last thing - there is no Bluetooth functionality, so have a microUSB adapter (and maybe 4-port hub) handy if you plan to do any multiplayer.

u/tomster2300 · 10 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I am a paraplegic and get the exact same pain with handhelds. Grips have been a lifesaver! I tried skull & co.'s kickstarter grip and a cheap rubber one off Amazon before sticking with Satisfye's Switch grip. I have big hands and it was the only one large enough to comfortably play with. Edit: They JUST launched all new products but I have their OG Switch grip.

I have other branded grips for my N3DS XL and Vita, but forget what they are (I think they're Japanese brands I found on Amazon), and they're comfortable and work great.

I suggest buying a handful off Amazon to try out and then keep the one that works. They're all made slightly differently so you wont really know until you have them in your "grip" :-) .

Good luck!

Edit: I found the exact grips in my Amazon purchase history (all from Amazon and I live in the states).

Hello shrimp of tiny proportion, I, as you can read, am Tbshirk. I'm a frequenter on this subreddit and have entered giveaways, and hosted some myself. Firstly, I would like to thank you for this giveaway. Even if I don't win, you're going to make somebody very happy. You're doing a great thing. Oh, and I'm entering for Pokemon Sun. Amazon Link

I want it for a pretty simple reason. Pokemon fucking rocks, and it's fun as hell! To go into a little more depth, I played Pokemon a TON as a kid. Pretty much non-stop. Anyway, now that Sun and Moon are out, I feel the need to get back into it. Not only that, but I'm going to try to complete a Living Shinydex, which will very well take me years upon years to complete, but I am extremely determined.

Thank you so much for this giveaway and I hope you, and the readers have a fantastic Thanksgiving and holiday season in general.

Buy yourself Smash for 3DS!! It comes out on Friday (the day the contest ends! IT'S A SIGN!!) and it is going to be fantastic (Source: I've played the demo lots). Smash is addicting fun, and it lets you battle online, so you could even battle against your fellow RAOAers that get it! It's going to keep you entertained for a while, so what's to lost? Treat yourself and get it!

As for me, I would LOVE to receive this HDMI 3-port switch device. I just found out these things exist, and this would make my life insanely easier. I don't have enough HDMI ports on my TV, so I always have to flip it around, unplug, and replug to get things to work. This eliminates that! So, you're buying something that will get constant use and make my life a bit easier! :)

Thanks for the contest! This is awesome of you :) Batman Suit.

Consider something like this, that you can hang within your own reach. (NOT his reach, or it will be emptied in the first minute of the trip!)

http://www.amazon.ca/Over-Door-Clear-Organizer-Storage/dp/B000IXOH7G

Fill each pocket with a different activity/toys/snacks. Go to the dollar store and stock up on things like sticker books, crayons/pad of paper, mini cars, bouncy balls, anything that might keep his interest for awhile that doesn't require your supervision.

I recently did a 12 hour flight with my 2.5 year old (and 4 month old daughter). The very best thing I brought with me (other than the iPad) in terms of entertaining him was a ziplock bag full of miniature cars each individually wrapped in painters tape. Yes it was a bitch to clean up after (lots of little scraps of painters tape stuck to everything in arms reach) but every one of them brought happy "oooooh" "wow" "woah" comments, and bought about ~10 minutes of unwrapping time, plus at least 20 minutes of happily rolling them around on things. So yeah, painters tape!

Also, get external battery chargers for the tablet and the 3ds. (Like this one for example. Http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Power-Pak-3DS-Nintendo/dp/B004SJA7L6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361147770&sr=8-1&keywords=battery+pack+3ds

Not sure where you're located if Amazon/Gamestop/Ebay are good choices for you? I've found that using the lock on/button to center on the monster is immensely helpful, both for making sure I know where it is and for maintaining the critical distance.

I think practice is really the best thing! Sometimes I've taken quite a long time to take down a monster simply because I took time to watch its moves and dodged around until I felt comfortable with its attacks. I picked up adept style for a few fights because the dodge is much more forgiving once you know where to dodge (With a great free charge rank up/power shot!).

If you're having trouble with the weapon itself there are really great videos up on youtube and guides online (and here) for different approaches. Again, it really depends on your playstyle. At a glance and a quick search, this page seemed helpful! http://laxgg.blogspot.com/p/mhgen-bow-mechanics.html

It also might help to have a protection/healer palico that has taunt and some heals for you if you're struggling with item management or aggro from the monster. As someone that plays LS offline and LBG/bow online, sometimes its harder when you don't have other hunters keeping it busy lol. You do have a pretty large chunk of time to complete your hunts so don't feel rushed that you can't watch the monster.

u/Rufio6 · 2 pointsr/3DS

I use the Hori monster hunter one, but it is massive and pricey. Comfortable though, and sweats better than my other plastic grips.

I'm gonna take a chance on this $8 one from eBay, looks to be one of the slimmer profiles: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Game-controller-Case-Plastic-Hand-Grip-Handle-Stand-for-Nintendo-3DS-LL-XL-EM/292150547574?hash=item4405879476:g:Ti0AAOSw9~5ZQSS9

Otherwise, the Cyber Gadget Grip for $25 is supposed to be great. https://www.amazon.com/Gadget-Coating-Nintendo-New-3DS-LL/dp/B013JDH8J0

I've used cheap trigger grips on my Old XL that worked amazing. Just got my New 3ds XL and its been tougher to find a good set.

Don't buy a new controller, clean/ fix your existing one. It will cost a lot less (~15$) and you will be able to clean/fix all of your other controllers as well. May sound weird because I'm telling you to fix your existing one but don't buy replacement joysticks... the rubber will just fall off on those too... =[ Ive wasted some $ on shitty "replacement" joysticks that don't even last a day. Buy 1 pack of these [ **.com/Cyber-%E3%83%BBPremium-Slide-Cover-Clear-Black/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=sr_1_1?s=instant-video&ie=UTF8&qid=1479033751&sr=8-1&keywords=3ds+circle+pad+cover ] and glue it to your joystick. I used an epoxy resin because i figured it would do the best gluing plastic on plastic but super glue would probably work too. You should still buy a tri-wing screwdriver [ ***.com/Gen-Lite-Tri-Wing-Triwing-Screwdriver-Tool/dp/B000VPBYS6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479034061&sr=8-1&keywords=triwing+screwdriver ] and some wet-wipes to get inside the controller and clean up a bit. Mine works like brand new but even better because the joystick will never wear down. I'll never part with my original orange GC controller >.<

I guess the moderators dont want people posting links so they deleted my original post... lol anyways just replace "****" with "https://www.amazon" if you want to see those items

Some recommended Switch accessories:

  • A tempered glass screen protector such as ORLZY, Spigen or AMFilm. All are excellent only reason AMFilm gets more recommendations as it was first to market.

  • A protective case like Hori Tough Pouch

  • Hori LAN Adapter if you play online lots as the Switch has very weak WiFi service. Also other lan adapters may work but only the Hori one is officially supported.

  • Hori Play Stand if you frequently play in table top mode or need to charge while in table top mode.

  • Pro Controller

  • The [Google Pixel USB C-C charger] (https://store.google.com/product/usb_type_c_18w_power_adapter) as it is easy to find locally, even on sale, and more compact than the Nintendo one but it won't power the dock.

  • Nintendo A-C cable (comes with the Pro Controller)

  • Your choice of headphones

  • A larger bag such as Butterfox Carry All case to hold your EDC (every day carry).

  • PowerA Cartridge Cases if you need extra game storage on the go (comes in several designs).

  • RAVPower 26800 PD a battery pack with both Type C in and out such as this one. Type C is means quicker charging and Type C out to safely power the Switch while using it.

  • PowerA Hybrid Cover might also be of interest to some people. I have not used it though as it is not my style. There are a few different colour/designs.

copy and pasting my old comment. I currently have this one http://www.amazon.com/CYBER-grip-rubber-coating-3DS-LL/dp/B008ZXBYJU/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411403059&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=cybergrip This is an amazing starter grip. The rubber coating is amazing and the texture is awesome, it's also very secure. My only complaint was the first time I held this, I held it like a controller, so both my index fingers were on the shoulder rests thinking I was pressing L or R buttons. To prevent from confusing myself, I put my middle finger onto the rest and my index finger onto the actual L button (i did not do this for my right hand) and thats how I would hold it. Now, I recently stumbled across THIS beauty. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171469999857 I'm waiting for it to come in but it looks absolutely amazing. It looks like the perfect grip for smash and I suggest anyone to buy one as well. PS: It's out of stock atm but if they're out of stock, just message them and they'll relist the item up. Thats what I did. GRAB THESE QUICK, THEY SOLD OUT OF 10 UNDER 2 HOURS

u/poopnuts · 2 pointsr/3DS

I have the Cyber Grip in the video and I agree. It's great for games where the L and R buttons aren't used all that often but the way it's formed, it forces my index and middle fingers into odd positions. Would not recommend it for Smash.

The DreamGear Comfort Grip, on the other hand, is probably the best one out there. It's comfortable and gives good access to all buttons and ports. Mine very slightly obstructs the gamecard slot and charging port but because it's silicone, others may fit differently.

u/rodfather · 6 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I've been going overboard with accessories. Here's what I picked up so far:

Glass screen protector - Just in case.

128GB microSD card - I rarely buy physical games

Pro Controller - I love it. So comfortable.

PowerA Hybrid Case - I basically use this as a stand for my Switch when I'm on the go.

JDeal portable dock - It works. Make sure to follow the instructions. Works with my Nexus5x 5v 3A portable charger.

[Retractable HDMI cable] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019J96PSI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Hestia case - The Switch with the PowerA Hybrid Case, portable dock, portable USB-C charger, and retractable HDMI cable all fit in this.

USB 3.0 LAN Adapter - Faster speeds when on the official dock.

Gooseneck tablet holder - Ultimate comfort. Play while in bed.

Magic NS Wireless Adapter - I had originally bought this so I could use my PS4 controller. This was before I picked up the Pro Controller. It works. There was a recent firmware update that gives gyro support for PS4 controllers and it works well with Splatoon 2.

On the way:

Mumba case - For better comfort/protection while playing in handheld mode.

u/dr_pelipper · 3 pointsr/3DS

Do you need one? Probably not. It's more down to how much peace of mind you think it'll give you.

I'm usually pretty careful with my devices, but I got a scratch on the top screen from what must have been a grit of something stuck on the microfiber cloth I normally use. The experience made me conscious of how often I wipe down the bottom screen from using the bottom screen with my fingers, and I definitely didn't want to scratch up the bottom one like I did with top screen.

I got the Hori one for N3DS XL, and I like it. It's not noticeable unless you actively look for it, plus it gives me enough peace of mind. Also while I don't plan on doing so, it is removable though you have to do it carefully.

Wooo sexy fellow brother! We know have VERY rare peices of 3DS history as they are going to VERY much in demand and sought out with all the new Fire Emblem games coming out, and dual IPS screens on top if it! Be sure to get a protector for that thing ASAP!

Unless you want to play GBA games, don't bother with a DS Lite. You will only regret it later and a 3DS or 2DS can be found fairly cheaply.

If you are concerned about battery life and maybe even accessories, the 3DS may be the best choice for you. The default battery life of the 3DS XL may be a little better, but you can buy 3rd party battery packs like the Nyko Power Pak+ that you will find many on this subreddit swear by and it is very cheap for the extra punch it gives. I wish one were available for my XL, but there are no better battery options (within a reasonable price range) for the XL.

I like my XL personally, but it sounds like you don't really like it and that decision is definitely up to you. I found the regular 3DS was too small for me (I owned a near-launch console) and I didn't like the build quality of it. Specifically the Start, Select, and Home buttons.

I cannot speak for the 2DS, but I don't know if I would let the Mono speaker be a deal breaker for you. The speakers on the 3DS and 3DS XL are fairly terrible anyway. I've always thought the ones on my DS Lite have sounded better personally.

u/snorking · 2 pointsr/3DS

i have the standard 3DS, and yeah, ive never had any issues finding the sweet spot as far as the 3d slider goes. as long as im holding it properly, the 3d is pretty flawless with most games, so i rarely turn it off. there ARE some games though where it feels like they get too concerned with the 3D, and theres not really any rhyme or reason as to why one thing pops out so much farther than another. just so long as it looks sufficiently 3D, the devs seem happy. as for the bigger battery, i picked up this guy and its some of the best money ive ever spent. it makes the 3ds a little bit fatter, and a little bit heavier, but it actually makes it more comfortable to hold. it also feels a little bit rubbery so its easier to grip than the smooth plastic back the 3ds comes with. the only issue is it no longer fits into the circlepad pro, or the charging cradle, but its really easy to switch back to the old battery if i need to. if you've got a 3ds, pick up this battery. it pretty much completely changed my relationship with my 3ds. instead of constantly worrying about battery power, i hardly ever need to think about it beyond remembering to charge it every night. and i think they actually do make a charging cradle for the extended battery if you're feeling like Mr. Moneybags.

For my "XL", I purchased this Crystal Case, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0093W7KG8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , I was only interested in the casing feature, but the fact that it felt comfortable and "stiffened" (not sure if that's a good word to use" the screen hinges made this purchase non-regrettable.

I'm not sure if this company has the exact casing for the 3DS, but I recommend looking at some YouTube videos of Crystal Casing, and hope for a video that helps you.

u/THE_NEWEST_3DS · 6 pointsr/3DS

Those cheap Chinese ones are terrible. The two I bought were barely being held together by the dozen screws in it. Cyber gadget makes a pretty decent grip, but it's quite a bit more expensive. I find that it is much more comfortable than the cheaper versions and has some game storage in the back as well. Amazon

As far as cases... If you want a case to hold the 3ds with the grip installed, the NES classic case is awesome. Just trim out the thin strip of foam in the middle and the gripped console drops right in. Even has room for a charger too! Amazon

Hope that helps!

u/andysaurus_rex · 2 pointsr/3DS

I don't have a ruler, but my hands are about 1 inch loner than the 3DS XL is long. The 3DS XL is 6.3 inches, so my hand is about 7.3 inches. My Palm size is the width of the 3DS XL, so my palm is about 3.7 inches wide.

None of this really matters in my opinion, because neither of them are comfortable. I tried the 3DS in a store, got cramps. I bought the XL, got cramps. It wasn't until I got a controller style grip for the system that I am able to play it comfortably. My suggestion is that you try them both in stores, see which one is better for you. If they're both bad, get a grip like this. I know there is one out for the N3DS LL now, I'm not sure about the standard size. Other companies make good ones too, but the one I linked is the one I have and trust and it works really really well.

u/TheGershon · 1 pointr/TwoBestFriendsPlay

As a fellow 3DS owner I highly recommend getting a grip accessory of some kind. I have a n3DSxl and got the official, Japan only monster Hunter grip and it's simply amazing. It's almost as good as any console controller, hopefully there's a good one for n2DSxl (I hate these acronyms). Also, I really like these circle pad covers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WLs1CbSHQJ76G

Also also, I recommend installing cfw. It's easy to do and you get a lot of benefits that aren't just piracy like custom themes that can cycle, increasing the CPU clock speed which makes games like MGS3 3D much more playable, and installing game mods that even work with carts. No, you won't actually get banned from online unless you try to play a game online that hasn't officially been released yet (and it's still circumventable regardless)

dreamGEAR Comfort Grip for your Old Nintendo 3DS XL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008XHCLFO?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Here’s the one I had gotten; it’s two parts, but I found myself only using the bottom/grip half. And while it definitely helped, I almost feel like a 3D printed grip would be better.

I can’t think of the name of the product right now, but there’s this cool two-part rubber agent that’s moldable momentarily but then eventually hardens. I put some on a wiimote and nunchuck grips and basically molded my hand, which made gameplay super comfy.

Hori TPU case for sure, they are great and wont scratch up the 3ds like other cases. This is the hori tpu case i have, the previously linked case is a harder tpu plastic.

skins you can get lots of places, depends on what you like. I have the zelda 3ds XL and it looks great through the clear hori tpu case, decals/ skins also come though great.

I have the same 3DS but currently have no grips for it. This CYBER one is 25 dollars but I've heard great things about it. I don't personally own it but have been thinking about getting it for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as it would just make everything more comfortable. However, the system itself works just fine and is way more comfortable than the standard o3DS with its boxy design poking into your palms. The way the N3DS is rounded out helps a lot with playing for extended periods of time. I do have small hands though.

ALWAYS go for the Hori ones now for all my potables. I used to buy cheap no-name ones but decided to pay the extra one time and I'll never go back.

Fit perfectly, it's very easy to apply them bubble-free because of a smart design and the overall quality is great. They're worth the premium price.

Removing them is not easy, but that is the case for all screen protectors.

I take my 3DS XL everywhere I go, mainly for the StreetPasses (I try to hit up Home Depot parking lots or go in a Barnes & Noble for those) and the Play Coins.

I did have it in my back pocket, but I didn't realize how much more the XL stuck out of my pocket and I scraped it up a good bit just by sitting in chairs. Fortunately I managed to get a good replacement, and not only do I have the Hori Duraflexi clear protective case on it, but I use this thing as a waist pouch to carry all my stuff in. I've never liked carrying purses, but a waist pouch seems like an acceptable compromise as it's basically a big external pocket. And sitting down is suddenly a lot more comfortable without all the stuff in my back pockets -- I never realized how uncomfortable it actually was until I stopped.

u/ErrorEra · 2 pointsr/3DS

I like Hori products. Get a soft case like this one to help prevent scratches. Please note, it is soft plastic, and if you keep stretching when you put it on/off, the back piece may get loose.

https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Duraflexi-Clear-Protector-Nintendo-NEW/dp/B00RZ7TC6Y

Screen protectors are a must! Do NOT get matte/anti-glare ones, get HD clear. The anti-glare ones (just like anti-glare phone ones), have a lot of little dots to help block light. This can sometimes mess with the 3d, or otherwise make the screen look grainy. I used the ones that came with this butterfox kit, but I'm sure there are better ones out there. Better cases out there, but very good price for what came with it.

  1. There is a 4GB included with the system and it fills up almost instantly. If you want to go digital then you will need to get a bigger MicroSD. NOTE: Anything larger than 32GB must be formatted to FAT32 before use. You can find a How-To guide in this Subreddits Wiki page.

  2. Yes, it will be on the MicroSD; You can however create a Nintendo Network ID and link the game to it and then when you insert a new SD card you will be able to just download the game again.

  3. I am unsure if you will be able to buy it now without a NNID

  4. You have to create an online Nintendo account and then Link your Nintendo Network ID to that account in order to purchase games online. Yes you create the NNID on the console itself and then link the NNID to the online account.

  5. I recommend Screen Protectors as the stylus that came with my N3DSXL scratched my bottom screen. But it might be different for you. I recommend either a Hori TPU clear case that will protect the 3DS from scratches. Or you can get a Hard Cover that just clips onto the system. I got this Gudetama one for my Black N3DSXL. There are many other designs on amazon, play-asia.com etc.

You can also look into decals that you stick on your 3DS from Decalgirl.com as these also protect the system from scratches.

So it is really up to personal preference
u/rittzler · 2 pointsr/smashbros

Yeah, having a good grip for your 3ds can really help cramping issues. If you need one for the XL, I reccomend this: http://www.amazon.com/CYBER-grip-rubber-coating-3DS-LL/dp/B008ZXBYJU

I've been using it for months, it's great! Though the price seems to have gone up a bit since I last saw it. You may wanna look around and see if it's a little cheaper anywhere else(just search for "cyber grip 3ds")

Aside from this, I don't know what else you should do. I hope you find a way to to play comfortably!

u/queuebitt · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

Those kind of products are more about convenience than being the best option.

You definitely want a screen protector. The amFilm 2-pack is considered the best around here.

You also want a carrying case. I recommend either the Hestia Goods or Butterfox models. I have the former and love it. The later is the most recommended around Reddit.

Between the screen protector and case from Amazon you're at the same $20 as the starter kit. So you can either get two high quality items, or more lower (but doable) quality items.

u/BiigDaddyDellta · 2 pointsr/MonsterHunter

I got a grip off of Amazon for like less that 30 bucks. I'm not sure what the company name is but it has very obvious red Japanese writing all over the front of it, just search new 3DS XL grip and it should pop up. I have had about 3 different grips for my DS and this one is by a far margin the absolute best. It removes easily, it allows access to your game slot and stylus, it has false triggers to make holding it very comfortable, the smooth surface is clean and doesn't "gunk up" and is also easily cleaned if it does get dirty. I highly suggest this grip when available. I would try and get a link but I am out to sea (Navy) right now and I cannot get one..

This is the battery I bought. The fourth picture gives the best idea of what it's like in real life. It adds a good bit of bulk to the 3ds (which is a positive, in my opinion) and probably wouldn't fit the circle pad pro. As for the battery itself, I can charge it once a week, play 15 hours easily, and have it on with the wifi enabled the whole time without it even hitting the red.

A portable charger would probably be easier to get rather than a bigger battery that is also compatible with the circle pad pro.

Hey I am looking for a new travel bag for my switch and accessories. I currently have carry bag, and this body case. I like this setup as often when I am away from home, I play my switch handheld in the bed. Once I am done, I like putting back in the body case on the night stand or use the case for when I am just moving around a house/room. The carry bag worked cause it held the switch in the case, pro controller, power cord, and the joycons edges, all while being easy to carry or small enough to fit into a small duffel bag.

However, more and more of late I keep finding myself wishing that I brought the dock too and/or the joycon grip. There is no room in the carry bag and I don't like putting the dock in the duffel as I fear it getting crunched accidentally. Anybody recommend a bag that can hold the switch in the body case, while having room for the pro controller (and joycon grip if possible but not needed), dock, power adapter, and HDMI cable securely and safely for the devices without being the size of a messenger bag? If I need another case for the switch handheld itself, that's fine, I just prefer the harder shelled ones. Really if my current bag was just a couple inches thicker to hold the dock too it would be perfect, but it cannot.

Thank you!

A few different products like these exist, where you place them over the circle pad. You have to be careful to remove it with each use and to not close the system with them on.
You could also completely open up the system and replace the pad with one of your choosing, like this.

Be cautious of using anything sticky, like bandaids or circles of velcro. Some adhesives leave icky residue that's hard to safely remove.

There's really no perfectly safe or easy solution other than pausing your battle and wiping your hand off a lot. :/

If you want maximum protection for your 3DS, the PDP NERF Armor is hands down your best bet. Keep in mind that it does make the 3DS a bit bulkier, but it essentially doubles as a carrying case.

Haven't tried that one but I have this: [DreamGEAR Nintendo 3DS XL Comfort Grip] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XHCLFO/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it's fantastic. My hands used to get cramped after long periods but this took care of that issue. Added bonus it protects the 3DS too.

u/snydeguy · 1 pointr/3DS

I bought the galaxy version, and I got the hori protector: https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Duraflexi-Clear-Protector-Nintendo-NEW/dp/B00RZ7TC6Y

but honestly, even before I bought that I wasn't having any problems, but I'm also very anal about wiping down my ds every 5 minutes with a microfiber lens cloth.

same as anything, treat it right and it will treat you right :)

u/evereal · 10 pointsr/Games

Well I've got great news for you. If you are happy with a fatter console, you can get a larger battery for very cheap like this one for the 3Ds. This will give you well over 12 hours battery, from many reports.

I am sure there will be similar solutions for the Switch too.

Your apparent reason for not owning a 3ds is easily and cheaply solvable!

u/ruemeridian · 1 pointr/3DS

HORI also makes a Duraflexi TPU case for the n3DS for what it's worth (which is also clear, but textured on the inside giving it an ever so slightly cloudy appearance), not just screen protectors.

And if you're the kind of person who is into pouches, this Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate pouch is pretty awesome I think.

u/Chicken_McFaggots · 1 pointr/3DS

I bought these 2 items a long time ago and they've been awesome, very worthwhile purchases.

3DS XL Case (This looks awesome on my Red Pokemon Y 3DS): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0093W7KG8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Carrying Case (Fits 3DS XL with crystal case):

I recommend these to anyone looking for some good products at an affordable price.

Edit: Also, my crystal case hasn't turned yellow and I've had it for a year, so I recommend this over the Hori case + it's way cheaper.

u/baochan · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I planned to be digital-only, but came across a couple good deals on games that I don't necessarily need/want constant immediate access to ($15 for Lego City Undercover? Why not?). Plus my 200GB SD card is filling up quick. So I've ended up in a kind of "digital-mostly" middle ground. So I'm glad I got a case that holds carts as well. I got this one and it's fantastic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0711K97BS

I guess you could keep multiple SD cards and swap them out for rarely played digital games though.

u/VILLIAMZATNER · 4 pointsr/MonsterHunter

Would like to tag on to this to say buying a controller grip and if you're using a N3DSXL, replacing the nub with a PSP 1000 series stick will hugely increase the quality of play. My brother owns a N2DSXL and made the same changes. If ripping out the nub makes you uncomfortable, videos on YouTube are easy to find. I do not regret it one bit, the psp stick is a full upgrade from the shitty nub.

In 2016 I bought a N3DSXL to exclusively play Pokemon and to enter the MH franchise. I tried MHGEN first and the barrier of the controls, and Gen's assumption that you're already an experienced Hunter made me quit before I even killed a Great Maccao.

Advice online suggested MH4U was a better entry point to the series, and it 100% was for me. That motivated me to find ways to make the handheld more comfortable for my giant fucking sausage fingers.

To me, MH4U legitimately feels like a full sized game stuffed into a handheld system. I still found myself fully immersed, even with 3ds graphics, which really fly below the radar when you're occupied with the technical mechanics that make this series so addicting.

u/matthew011029 · 6 pointsr/MonsterHunter

I have personally bought and used these ones, they feel just like a controller and are great for the hands.
I have personally got used to playing without a grip attachment, but generally they are definitely worth it if you get cramps from playing, much more comfortable.

u/NeoMegamanX · 1 pointr/3DS

Oh that looks nice :) might I suggest you to get this protector ASAP?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GX330XW/ref=oh_details_o08_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got my Dream Team XL somewhere around xmas last year and even though I didn't drop it a single time some scratches formed on the case probably due to dust so I got this protector, it's a beauty not bulky at all and it looks amazing.

u/joosen · 2 pointsr/3DS

Since I have a pretty decal, I use this to protect and show it off. I always have it in my hand, like the girls who hold their clutch purse thingy.

If I'm in a Kingdom Hearts or Monster Hunter mode, I just remove the bottom part of the protector, and snap on my CPP and continue my day

u/Joggly · 1 pointr/smashbros

I recently got this one, it's pretty good for only $5 ish. If you look around on ebay you can find this one for $5 from the US, if that's closer to you.

I'm getting a New 3DS XL for X-mas so I was in the same boat as you, on google/reddit/amazon/youtube I was looking to see what I should get. Here's what I ultimately decided on:

u/aflarge · 4 pointsr/smashbros

I had a HUGE problem with the shape of the 3DS, too. While this doesn't make it QUITE as awesome as using a controller, a good grip will effectively do away with the hand cramps. This is the one I got, in case you're interested.

u/Hedzx · 2 pointsr/3DS

I recommend this: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-XL-Duraflexi-Protector-Clear/dp/B00GX330XW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1414888273&sr=8-2&keywords=hori+3ds

Since you have a special edition you don't want it to get scratched! Also get some screen protectors, I think Hori makes some. 3DS screens tend to scratch themselves (even though supposedly the problem is fixed, don't risk it, trust me.)

As for other accesories, if you find that the XL is too awkward to hold on certain games (though you might grow used to it like I did) try getting one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Plastic-Hand-Grip-Holder-Gaming-Case-Handle-Stand-for-3DS-XL-Black-/190970632021?pt=US_Video_Game_Cases_Bags&hash=item2c76bc9755

They're pretty cheap and sometimes can be finicky to take off (use a card to push up the tabs, I learned this the hard way haha), other than that they are amazing for making games comfy. Other things include a club nintendo game case off ebay (or if club nintendo restocks) like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Club-Nintendo-DS-3DS-Card-Cartridge-Case-Holder-18-Limited-game-New-/161467848495?pt=US_Video_Game_Cases_Bags&hash=item25983bd72f

or one of the other ones.

u/Phrickshun · 4 pointsr/MonsterHunter

>Sadly much I love 4U my biggest gripe with it... well, can be simply summed by the fact it's on 3DS and the ungodly bad wrist cramps/aches I've get after a while of playing intensive action games on that tiny boxy console.

If you care enough, Buying a 3DS grip like this one pretty much removes the hand cramps you get from playing on the 3DS for long periods of time. I would know because I dealt with the same issue playing Monster Hunter on the 3DS.

u/MutatedSpleen · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

There are some cases that will fit a dock, I have this one and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It fits the official dock, all the cords, and a bunch of controllers if you want. I actually keep my Switch itself in a separate case and put it in my backpack, but that's just my preference. You can put your Switch and the dock in this travel bag all together if you want.

The other option that seems fine is the Insignia-brand dock from Best Buy. There haven't been any reports of that dock frying your system when used properly (there was one of a guy who fried his system by using an Insignia dock with a Nintendo AC adapter, but using the Insignia dock with the Insignia adapter hasn't had any reported brickings). Definitely avoid the Nyko dock though.

u/tophmcmasterson · 2 pointsr/smashbros

I HIGHLY recommend getting this grip http://www.amazon.com/CYBER-grip-rubber-coating-3DS-LL/dp/B008ZXBYJU/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1411297699&sr=1-1&keywords=3ds+xl+grip+cyber . I live in Japan so it was only about 10 bucks here, but it's a night and day different, just feels like holding a game controller. Was getting bad hand cramps after about 20 minutes on the demo, picked that up with the full game and I can play comfortably as long as I like. Feels really sturdy, uncomplicated, takes all of 5 seconds to "install".

u/Rampey · 4 pointsr/3DS

I recommend getting a clear dura-flex case for your 3ds, it's not that expensive and allows you to protect your 3ds from scratches and hand sweat without covering up the awesome design. link
You can also find this case just about anywhere in-store too incase you don't wanna wait for shipping.

u/moustachesamurai · 1 pointr/MonsterHunter

They actually come pretty cheap now. (similar price in Europe)

Battery last for about 500 hours, which is pretty neat.

Oh, and it really improves the grip comfort.

u/pikachuuuuu · 2 pointsr/3DS

Do you want like a carrying case or one that actually snaps onto the 3DS to protect it?

For the former, I have this and it works really well. For the latter, most people recommend the clear Hori case.

I used this generic hard plastic case for a long time and really liked it. They come in a variety of colours too if you do some searching. It says "rubberized" but it's not rubber at all, just slightly transparent hard plastic. I recently switched to this one (also available in a variety of colours) and it looks really nice, but it makes the WiFi act funny if I'm too far from the router.

u/Excellus · 1 pointr/3DS

This one?

It's made out of TPU.
TPU is kinda like a hard rubbery material, it feels really nice and won't scratch your 3DS at all.
The case you linked will fit the TPU case and your 3DS, I have a case like that and it fits perfectly.

u/boisterile · 2 pointsr/MonsterHunter

This is the one for the older XL models (don't know if you have an XL, but the extra screen size is really helpful for Monster Hunter too) https://www.amazon.com/Circle-Pad-Pro-Nintendo-Accessory-Included/dp/B009LGO88E

Basically just fits around your 3DS and adds an extra analog stick on the right. There's an option in the 4U settings menu to enable it once you get it. It's a godsend.

I thinkkk this is the one for non-XL models, but you may want to do a little more research and make sure https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Circle-pad-Replacement/dp/B00T5I2RXQ

u/AnimageCGF · 1 pointr/3DS

I don't remember paying nearly the cost of them now, but everything about it is pretty great. If the price is too much, just look for something with similar dimensions. I hardly play my 3dsXL without it now.

u/KingKiio · 1 pointr/amiibo

It's great! It's super comfy, and fits on quite nicely. I use it to protect an autograph, but it'll work to resist scratches and smudges perfectly fine.

u/archzinno · 1 pointr/MonsterHunter

I use this (note I didn't buy it for that much)

As far as cramp relief it's great, but for the L, R, zL, and zR buttons it kind of digs into your hand. it's a minor inconvienience.

u/scottyb83 · 8 pointsr/3DS

This. is the case I am talking about. Very happy with it as I wanted something a bit rubberised and not hard plastic. This is still a little firmer than I wanted but it does the trick. I also wanted something clear as I really liked the 3DS XL I got (Gold Zelda edition) so the fact that it was see through was a big plus. I don't know how well it will protect from a drop as it is very form fitting but it protects the finish and offers a little bit better grip. If you have bigger hands get this case!

I can't link the hard shell zipper case that I got as I got it in store and can't find it online but it is your standard hard shell case with a little padding in case you drop it.

u/sk00msk00m · 1 pointr/3DS

The original is pretty much perfect for my hands. They’re just slightly bigger now. As for the XL, it’s just uncomfortable for me since it’s hard to hit the bumpers and it takes a little more work just to multitask (lowering my hand to get to the dpad, add more pressure to face buttons. I mean, I use my middle fingers just to use the bumpers sometimes!)

Besides that, I need a new battery anyway. What if I get one of the bulky ones so my hands won’t feel crammed together and making my hand position feel more natural? Maybe this one? It’s not too big

I had to find it

Play Asia
Seems to be out of stock until June

Amazon In stock, but massively marked up by the reseller.

I've been using it for awhile and it's been great. It's solidly built, comfortable, and the triggers are useful.

The reviews are accurate that it's really bulky though, so it's not going in a pocket or anything. When I travel, I carry it in my work bag, so it's no big deal, but that's about the only big downside that I've seen.

u/drastik25 · 3 pointsr/3DS

If you have carpal tunnel issues make sure you pick up something like this when you get your 2DS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013JDH8J0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2HCJ9YB0QY49W&coliid=I1AB7KFHK6KS0Z

I don't have carpal tunnel but with adult hands it's a pita to hold it without any kind of extra grip. This particular brand is generally considered the best and it makes it so much more comfortable to play for longer than a few minutes.

u/sboles66 · 1 pointr/smashbros

Re posting this from another thread:

If you plan on getting a 3DS XL, I have to recommend this.
It makes your 3DSXL FEEL like a controller.
And if it's any kind of 3DS, reguklar, 2ds or Xl I reccomend this it makes it feel better, and it's easier to do tilts.

I can vouch for the quality of both products and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I have this travel case and it's a pretty great case. Easy to put the switch in(it fits with the joycons already on), 20 cartridge slots for games, and the zipper pocket which should be big enough for an extra set of joycons or two + a bit more like some cords.

Really surprised I haven't seen the Cyber Gadget grip 2 in this topic yet. It feels amazing, very nice material and really ergonomic. The 3ds feels locked in place but pretty easy to remove by pulling the clip. It also has a compartment for holding 2 carts and the "door" of the compartment doubles as a stand.

u/BigMack97 · 3 pointsr/GiftofGames

My Nintendo Tag is Cheddar. If I could receive any game right now it would be Pokemon Sun. My favorite game series as a kid was Pokemon. I grew up watching the show with my older brother, and I saved my money to get a Gameboy and Pokemon Ruby. I took that Gameboy everywhere and eventually started getting some of the older Pokemon games. I sold my Gameboy for some stupid reason and just recently picked up a 3DS and Omega Ruby. It has been great replaying my first Pokemon game and would love to have Pokemon Sun so I can experience some of the changes they have made to the series over the years that I didn't have a DS to play Pokemon games on.

u/SonicUndergroun · 1 pointr/Games

May I ask what it is that makes it uncomfortable? If it is the system itself, I don't know which model you play on, but if it is the New 3DS Xl there is an awesome (if pricey) grip that makes it much more comfortable, at least for me!

I'm selling the following:

u/godshammer915 · 2 pointsr/3DS

I really liked that grip but if you play a lot of games that use the shoulder buttons, I found the finger grips on the back to be a bit too high and puts your hand in an awkward position. That being said, I prefer this model for every game that doesn't the shoulder buttons much.

If you do play a lot of Monster Hunter or games that use the shoulders a lot, try this one Cyber Gadget Rubber Coating Grip 2 Black For Nintendo New 3DS LL XL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013JDH8J0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_5le0xbBSRD90R They moved the finger grips a little lower and makes it a more natural grip.

Hopefully the Switch will have Virtual Console options that make sense, and that would be the obvious suggestion.

If a portable would interest him, then a New 3DS XL with the Hori Monster Hunter Grip-- only way to play the 3DS comfortably with man-sized hands. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016XCSBC2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would expect eBay to have some used WiiU deals in March. But I would also recommend the Wii U Pro controller for hand comfort.

Lastly, an old Wii can be found for $50 on eBay. It would take years to exhaust the Virtual Console games (Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, Wii), but who knows how long they'll be supported.

If your main concern is comfort, I highly recommend a grip. This is the one I have and it is amazing. Extremely comfortable.

Was debating getting a 2XL or a refurbished N3XL for me and my sister but found a new N3XL for $175 on Amazon. $50 more than getting two 2XLs but, brand new, 3d feature is there if needed, better speakers, and longer battery life (several reviews have mentioned 2XL has shorter battery life).

So, I'm on the hunt for some accessories and was wondering if ya'll could help me pick some out.

Charger Will need 2 of these.

  • Is there a difference in charging times between the wall charger and usb chargers?
  • Difference between charge times using usb chargers when plugged into usb wall charger and PC? Would one charge faster than the other?
  • In one of the reviews for the Yuyikes USB charger, someone asked about the difference between it and cheaper usb cables. Someone replied that the cheaper ones only charge while the DS is asleep/off while it can charge while playing. Is this true?
  • Using a USB cable, can you transfer things back and forth between a PC and the DS? Be it the system it self or a microSD card?

    Charger | Price
    ---|---
    Wall Charger | $8
    HDE 3 Pack USB | $8
    HDE 2 Pack USB | $5
    Yuyikes USB | $8

Screen Protector Will need 2 of these.

  • Does the system close properly with screen protectors installed on the top and bottom screen?
  • I ask because someone people have mentioned their N2dsXL having a tiny gap with screen protectors.
  • If you use one, which do you use personally?

Hey. I HIGHLY recommend this. I experienced hand cramps often with the 3ds XL and the NN3DS XL until I got this. If you like the feel of the PS4 controller then this should have that same familiar, comfortable feel.

DO NOT use clear nail polish, it will just ruin the surface of the DS. Rather than that, just get a crystel DS case where your DS stays protected, and looks good and clean! ;)

Here is a link!

EDIT: And yes, I do own this case and it has kept my 3DS in perfect condition for about a year now!

u/TheDoktorIsIn · 2 pointsr/3DS

Honestly it feels great but getting it off has thus far been impossible. Dreamgear makes a good one but I think the best one similar to this is this one. The dreamgear one is more like an overall case, and some people say they have to cut the flaps near the l and r buttons. I consider myself a savvy consumer so maybe I just chose poorly here or got a defective one, I don't know.

u/LanAkou · 3 pointsr/3DS

With the inevitable influx of new people come October 3rd, and especially with the release of the Smash 3DS XL, it might be time to update the FAQ's Case/Battery Pack/Grip thread (there are only 4 parent comments, and all appear to reference the original 3DS)

What are the best clear cases and grips for the 3DS XL?

Based on the little research I've done, the clear Duraflexi protector seems to be the best clear case for the 3DS XL. It protects from scratches, not impact and is not perfectly clear but is probably as good as it gets. Other cases have been said to scratch the 3DS.

u/AariTv · 3 pointsr/MonsterHunter

While there is no Circle Pad pro, what you can do replace it with a PsP1000 Stick. This stick makes the whole 3DS SO MUCH better. It's a completely different and much easier to use. It's also quite easy to do if you already have a PsP1000 stick.
You can also buy this grip for more comfortable holding.

u/2shovel2knight · 2 pointsr/patientgamers

Check amazon, they sell these third party attachments that look kinda like the Switch Joy-con holder that give the system some girth. One of them is Monster Hunter branded, so you know it's meant for extended play sessions :)

Edit: Now with link.

I got nothing for your hand cramps unfortunately, but even before smash I personally found the 3DS circle pad a bit too slippery for my taste. I grabbed some circle pad covers on amazon, and they've been working great:

I've used a few different cases in the past, but the Super Mario Transporter by PowerA is hands down the best one I've gotten.

It can hold 20 DS/3DS games.
And it holds my 3DS XL with the DreamGEAR ComfortGrip attached to it just fine And it still has room for the AC/Car chargers and styluses.

It also comes in Black, Red and Blue. I chose the black one because it still looks cool but is more discrete.

I have had similar interests myself in order to build a custom frame for my N3DS-XL to house this extended battery pack - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NJ2UEW (for a normal N3DS). Looking around These are the best resources I've found so far to start from:

Face-plate - https://grabcad.com/library/3ds-cover-1
Generic 3DS model - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:246100
Battery grip spacer - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:683341

None of these appear to be exactly what I would need to do my own project, so its probably up to me and a pair of calipers to get precise measurements for. Hope these help.

This one:
Hestia Goods Switch Carrying Case compatible with Nintendo Switch - 20 Game Cartridges Protective Hard Shell Travel Carrying Case Pouch for Nintendo Switch Console & Accessories, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0711K97BS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_n1bQAbJK47HAS

It has a bit of an oil/new product smell but starting to go away. The side pouch is awesome, fits the charger I got (both outlet and car charger), headphones, 3d printed stand a friend made me, and two of those thin black things you put on the joycons separately.

u/rdh2121 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I'm trying to decide this myself. Currently my frontrunner is this one, but I could be convinced otherwise if anyone has a case they really love.

u/Navolas2 · 4 pointsr/MonsterHunter

Which version of 3ds do you have? If you have an original version of the 3ds or 3ds XL I would suggest the claw pad pro I linked to. It puts an additional Circle pad a little below the L button on the system. Gives you have claw feelings and is way more comfortable at the same time.

I honestly have considered buying an OG 3DS again so I can use it with my American release monster hunter games.Though due to time since release they are getting a bit more spendy.... but it is amazing.

edit: Also could try just the normal Circle Pad Pro. 3DS XL OG 3DS

u/holycowitschris · 3 pointsr/3DS

Buy these for grip. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UURTXK6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

They just clip onto the top of your circle pad.

I just bought them and they seem to work well for grip. Make sure you put them on CORRECTLY, otherwise they will fall off. I use the one with the dots on my N3DSXL. My circle pad was slippery as well. This is a huge improvement.

u/TheTrueReview · 3 pointsr/Metroid

I bought a grip like [this](http://www.Cyber.com/ Gadget Rubber Coating Grip 2 Black For Nintendo New 3DS LL XL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013JDH8J0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_m1E0BbW1J83RD) and its great, I don't play my 3ds without it now. It really helps, specially if you have big meaty paws like me.

u/1roquois · 3 pointsr/smashbros

I have CYBER's 3DS LL grip. It feels good, looks good, and is really comfortable. It's easy to attach / detach and has a little compartment for two additional games. The only thing is blocks is the stylus compartment and that isn't really important anyway.

Unfortunately I can only find one that ships from Japan so you might have to wait a little longer than usual. I highly recommend it otherwise though.

u/Archnation · 1 pointr/3DS

I did the same but I REALLY didnt like how far you had to move your fingers up to use the shoulder buttons. Heres the one I bought. I ended up buying some Poly clay and making it more comfortable to put your index fingers on the shoulders, middle fingers on the black original cyber grip part and your ring fingers on the molded portion.

Heres a picture of what I did - Bonus picture of my cat & Ike in his white alt color in SSB4

Sorry for the potato picture.

I basically molded it to my liking then baked it attached to the grip at a lower-than-recommended temperature (about 170-185 for over an hour. I placed it on a few wine bottle corks that were placed on top of a glass cooking container thing I turned upside-down.

Then I sanded a little bit and remembered I hate sanding poly clay so I stopped and now it is lumpy but comfortable.

u/Porkpants81 · 6 pointsr/3DS

This is the best case for usage all the time.

http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Duraflexi-Clear-Protector-Nintendo-NEW/dp/B00RZ7TC6Y

It's not bulky so the system will still fit in most external cases as well. Plus it's clear so you can still see the design of your LE system.

u/Uncanny_Doom · 1 pointr/3DS

My sister has one of these and it looks top notch.

On the subject of Nerf Armor, I've heard they aren't that secure and like Nerf material typically does, it breaks away after time.

If looking for grip/comfort over protection, try this. Fits very comfortably though it takes some getting used to using the triggers due to the bumpers the grip has.

Either way I'd recommend looking up some video reviews on grips/cases to get a better idea of your options.

u/RHunterGN · 1 pointr/3DS

The Cybergrip /u/Whirlspell posted is good. I have that and the MHX one. The Cybergrip holds the 3DS a lot more steady. I found the MHX isn't a perfectly snug fit. However, the MHX one is much more comfortable. It's hard plastic, but fits the hand a whole lot better.

u/clambert12 · 7 pointsr/3DS

I really like this grip. It's super easy to attach/remove and fits comfortably in my hands. Also it can store two cartridges inside a compartment on the back of it, which is pretty neat.

Edit: My issue was slightly different than OP's. I would get really bad wrist pain while using my 3DS and this alleviated that problem. I'm not sure if it would be helpful for OP's issue, but thought I'd link it since I ended up buying 3 different grips and this was the most comfortable one for me.

u/Sexytimeturtle · 2 pointsr/3DS

I tried roughing the surface on mine as I found games unplayable with the default circle pad. It only helped marginally. The caps are a godsend and the best solution.

u/OpenlyCray · 1 pointr/3DS

http://www.amazon.com/Circle-Pad-Cover-Nintendo-Accessory-Inport/dp/B00C1XYUY6 You want these, trust me. They give me a sense of safety while I play, like my circle pad isn't going to get damaged, and the give you a better grip at the same time. Takes a little bit of force to get on and off at first, though.

u/tonyjin · 1 pointr/3DS

Could try the brand new Cyber Gadget slim grip: https://www.amazon.com/Cyber-Gadget-Rubber-Coating-Black-Nintendo/dp/B01KWUNRV6/ref=dp_ob_title_vg

I'm currently deciding between that one, the monster hunter one (https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Hunter-Cross-hunting-gear-Nintendo/dp/B016XCSBC2/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1481064584&sr=1-1&keywords=3ds+xl+monster+hunter+grip), and the wider cyber gadget one (https://www.amazon.com/Cyber-Gadget-Rubber-Coating-Black-Nintendo/dp/B013JDH8J0/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1481064457&sr=1-1&keywords=cyber+grip+3ds+xl). I bought all 3, going to return 2 of them. So far I'm probably sticking with the monster hunter one since I have large hands, but I wish I could stay with the new slim grip since it's super compact and can hold two games in the back.

u/civanov · 2 pointsr/MonsterHunter

I have these and I love them, perfect for large hands. Havent had a cramp since I bought them, well over 500 hours of games with them.

For those interested you can get the MH4 pouch from Amazon for $25 bucks. Link

I bought one not too long ago and it's pretty well built, there's enough space to fit the 3ds charger and some foldable headphones with 2 sleeves for the games.

I have the Monster Hunter Generations N3DSXL grip.

It's big, but comfortable. My only problem with it is that one of the shoulder buttons doesn't feel very responsive, but it still works. Mine was $40, and I feel like it was worth it, especially if you play Monster Hunter. If you have the money and you're looking for a big, comfy grip, you can't go wrong with this one.

u/qua2k · 2 pointsr/3DS

thank you for this, i was thinking about getting the dreamGEAR one but didnt like that it covered the whole 3DS and you couldnt access the game cartridge slot. this solves everything.

i ordered their pad covers (https://www.amazon.com/Cyber-・Premium-Slide-Cover-Clear-Black/dp/B00UURTXK6/) a while ago and they fit perfectly, doesnt fall off and very snug.

u/BronyMaster1469 · 1 pointr/3DS

I feel like I have to do that with mine. I bought an over sized case for my 3DSXL.

http://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO

It's a great case. I pulled it out at PAX East and my friends thought I was carrying around an N-gage. It looks hilariously too big to carry around but it's comfortable!

u/endlightend · 9 pointsr/3DS

I use this one. Works great for me. My hands are on the larger end and used to cramp like crazy playing without a grip. They have a slightly rubberized texture to help you grip and conveniently has a cart holder slot for two games, as well as a little kickstand to prop the console up. Highly recommended.

u/SupaStaVince · 1 pointr/3DS

I get asked this a lot. Short answer, don't worry about CPP. I get by just fine without it, hell I don't even use the digital D-pad. The L button is all I need. CPP is overrated as a primary imput. If you need camera controls, the C-stick will work just fine. A lot of people don't even know how to use it properly which is where all the complaints arise from.

I normally tell people to get a Wii U instead of a NN3DS if they already have a 3DS and if they don't have a 3DS, to get the NN3DS. But if your main issue is simply holding the system rather than being a matter of deciding what to buy, get a NN3DS and get one of these. http://www.amazon.com/CYBER-grip-rubber-coating-3DS-LL/dp/B008ZXBYJU

I heard good things about em. Hope it helps.

u/SenordrummeR2 · 1 pointr/3DS

I use the Hori Duraflexi TPU case to protect my FE N3DS. My only complaint is the case makes the 3DS look off-white instead of white. Other than that it's been great. When traveling, my laptop bag has a pouch that's the perfect size for my system. The top of the system barely sticks out of the slot, so I can easily check to see if I've got any street passes or notifications.

u/bohoa · 3 pointsr/3DS

I love the Cyber Gadget 2! People with small hands may find this a bit too big. They have an updated version in the link that's smaller.

The Monster Hunter XX is very well liked by many too.

u/mobott · 48 pointsr/3DS

As a fellow owner of the Zelda 3DS XL, I highly recommend that you get the Hori TPU case and some screen protectors to go along with it.

No matter how careful you are, your 3DS is bound to take some degree of damage eventually. This case does an excellent job of protecting it from normal bumps and wear (it won't do much if you drop it, but that hopefully wouldn't happen) while still showing off the design. Screen protectors are just good to have.

An additional note: I also suggest getting some sort of cleaning cloth to put between the two screens when you close the system: the bezel on the touch screen will scratch up the top screen.

u/Comrade_Kitten · 2 pointsr/3DS

HORI Duraflexi Clear Protector for Nintendo NEW 3DS XL US site, im sure there is one for UK aswell.

This is a clear tpu + you can use the tpu while traveling, and keeping the grip at home with this combo.

Will look like this:

Semi flexible, so it won't break if bent.

I'm not sure about the case in which you are referring, but I got this case and I love it. It's very soft and protective. It's like a smooth yet rubbery case.

This Grip is hands down the best accessory I've bought for the new 3ds. Best part is, it doesn't block anything on the 3ds itself! You can close it with it on, access the game slot, charge it, etc.
Couldn't recommend it more personally.

I got the Hori Duraflexi Protector from Best Buy and I love it. It's on Amazon too.

u/D-TOX_88 · 1 pointr/nintendo

I use a Hori clear duraflexi NN3DS case with my Majora's Mask 3DS, and I keep it in Hori's retro Zelda zipper case. The duraflexi slips on and off real easy and cleans really easy, and it shows off the MM paint job really well. I also got a Hori screen protector, and if it gets scratched too much I just replace it; doesn't leave any residue. Hori makes good shit.

FYI to both of you, you can get a special battery thing on amazon for about 20$ that will up your gameplay time on a 3DS to somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 hours. I have one, and it's an absolute godsend, here is the link

u/Garlstadt · 3 pointsr/MonsterHunter

The Amazon reviews are rather positive.

Definitely going to look into it, I got so used to the comfort of my circlepad...

u/Mkilbride · 1 pointr/3DS

How are these hard plastic cases for protection? Something about them seems like they'd add a good bit of weight to it and be uncomfortable.

Something like this seems to be the best of both, once upgraded for the New 3DS XL.

http://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1421488045&sr=1-1&keywords=3ds+xl+grip

u/toodlebutts · 3 pointsr/3DS

The link provided there isn't a grip, it's a Circle Pad Pro for the original 3DS. You already have a C-Stick on the New 3DS, so it's pointless even if it did fit.

Either https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WU8EEAC/ (which I bought) or https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OTEMTD4/ are considered the best ones. There are pros and cons to each.

The first one doesn't have a cartridge slot open to pull your carts in and out, meaning you have to take the grip off to change physical cartridge games. However, it's more comfortable to access the triggers than the second one.

The second one is generally the more popular one despite being more expensive. There's room to carry two extra games in the back stand, and isn't as hard to take off as the first grip. However, the positions of the "fake triggers" can be confusing and uncomfortable for when you do actually want to use the 3DS triggers.

u/ChrisC1234 · 1 pointr/3DS

I use the DreamGear grip also (http://www.amazon.com/DreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367375474&sr=8-1&keywords=dreamgear+3ds). It's got a good feel, and is very easy to install and remove.

An added benefit of this is that it covers up most of the blinking lights, so it doesn't light up an entire dark room. They can still be seen through the trip though. And the message light is not covered up at all.

u/FoxxyRin · 2 pointsr/3DS

You can get a clear case. They're only $12.99 on Amazon for a great brand. They also give you the flexibility to put whatever you want under the cover to have a "custom" 3DS.

u/BlueBlurDown · 2 pointsr/3DS

Interesting, that glossy feature is what made me think it would be far worse than my Pikachu. Since my Pikachu was fine naked, that would mean I should fair well with my MM naked.

I have a Hori case for the N3DSXL, but I'm not a big fan. I can't use the charging dock or a proper sleeve. It's pretty much the case and that's it. I much prefer a proper sleeve like Waterfield.

u/thesk8rguitarist · 1 pointr/3DS

I always keep mine in this case. It's seriously the most comfortable thing you can get to play your 3DS for any extended time (makes Smash WAY easier to play) plus, it protects it from my rambunctious toddler.
