📹 Video recap
If you prefer video reviews, we made a video where we go through the best nintendo switch games according to redditors. For more video reviews about products mentioned on Reddit, subscribe to our YouTube channel.
Okay, first things first, you're asking in the Nintendo Switch subreddit, so be prepared for a slew of biased opinions.
Secondly, the main reason to get a game system is for the games it plays. When it comes to the Switch, it does three things very well - Nintendo first-party games, small indie titles, and good portable gaming experiences.
For Nintendo first-party stuff, the big draws for a fifteen year-old are probably going to be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with Super Mario Maker 2 being another good one. There are absolutely other must-have games for the Switch, but I'd wager that if a 15 year-old is opening up a Switch on Christmas day, these are the two games that are most likely to be on his mind. Oh, also, be aware that playing games like Smash Bros. and Mario Maker online will require a Nintendo Switch Online Membership (and if you want to play online too, get the Family Membership).
For indie games, a lot of these can only be bought directly on the Nintendo Switch eShop, which leads me to a few recommendations - first, I highly recommend getting a decent size MicroSDXC card to store digital games in. Sandisk makes one specifically for the Switch, but you don't need to get that specific one, just so long as you go for a MicroSDXC card from a decent manufacturer). Even if your kid is only getting cartridges, some games require the SD card space so this will be important. Some great digital games on the Switch that might appeal to your kid include Hollow Knight and Fast RMX.
As for the thing being portable, that's the thing that really sets apart the Switch... but it also means that you'll want to be sure to get a decent screen protector for it, and probably a good case, because the last thing you want to do is damage a $300 piece of expensive equipment.
Oh, on that note, if you find yourself looking at the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite and wondering what the differences are, here's the deal:
The Switch Lite is $100 cheaper. However, to make it cheaper, they removed the ability to play games on your TV - it is only a portable system, where the original Switch can be played on your TV and as a portable system. Some people have a strong opinion about which is better, but in the end it comes down to just what interests you. However, know that if you want something that will hook up to your TV, you don't want a Switch Lite.
As for whether or not the thing will collect dust... honestly, who knows with a kid that age? I absolutely love my Switch and play it all the time, but I don't know your kid or where his shifting priorities will take him in the years ahead. If he loves games, I can say there are definitely games that he'll only be able to play on the Nintendo Switch - Zelda and Mario and Smash Bros... basically, anything Nintendo themselves make is something he'll only be able to play on a Nintendo system, and Nintendo makes some of the best games around. I'm not sure if this is why he wanted it, or if he's more interested in the "cool" factor of a game system he can take anywhere with him... that's something that might require some sly subtle questioning on your part to discover.
That said, be aware that the Switch is not known for having top-of-the-line graphics, and the visuals it puts out are generally not as good as the PlayStation 4. That's kinda' to be expected, since it's portable. However, this will probably be even more pronounced next Christmas, when both Sony and Microsoft are planning to put out their next big videogame systems. The Switch will still probably be going strong then - Nintendo will always make great games that will make people want to play them, and the Switch being portable makes it different enough to stay interesting, but don't be surprised if next year another game system becomes the big new shiny thing.
I know these aren't exactly the reassuring answers you might've been looking for, but when it comes to a teenager, I'm not sure a big, reassuring answer is going to be completely honest. I can say that if your kid is asking for a Switch, I'm sure he wants one and I'm sure he'll enjoy it. But for how long? That I don't know because, you know, teenager.
I hope this helps!
I don't know how much you're hoping to spend on a new hobby, but video games can provide decades of entertainment. The barrier to entry can seem daunting, because some of those games are so complex and huge and confusing, but there are some very simple games among the variety. I agree with others in this thread who say Nintendo is the way to go for someone brand new to gaming. They cater to children first and foremost, so every game they make is designed to have intuitive controls that anyone can figure out regardless of prior gaming experience. That being said, they've made some of the most highly awarded games of the last few years, which are both accessible to new gamers and extremely fun and rewarding for adults. I've taken a moment to link some Nintendo stuff on Amazon that I think would be an excellent starting place. Also, getting into gaming is a brilliant way for older people to connect with their youngest family members in a natural, enthusiastic, and unforced way. They'll be able to give you tips, help you with hard levels, and just generally be interested in your hobby because it's something they already love.
.
Nintendo Switch Console on Amazon In order to play most video games, you'll need a console or a PC. This is the Nintendo console, and it is only compatible with Nintendo Switch games. Be careful you don't buy Nintendo Wii games or Nintendo 64 games, those are different consoles and they aren't compatible. Xbox and playstation games are also not going to work. This box is everything you need short of a TV and an internet connection to play the new Nintendo games.
.
Mario Kart on Amazon This game is as simple as it gets, and it's a timeless classic that has been remade half a dozen times. You hold one button to make your car go forward, and you steer left and right with the other hand on the joystick. It sounds simple, but there is a lot of fun to be had in this game. This is traditionally considered a good party game, so if you decide to pick up an extra controller or two down the road, you could invite people over to race against!
.
Super Mario on Amazon This game is a step up in difficulty for a new gamer, but still within reach and arguably one of the best games made in the last five years. You'll control Mario himself through different levels trying to... you guessed it... save the princess.
.
Zelda on Amazon This game is the most difficult game on the list, but is still easy enough to be the first game that many young people ever play. You'll control Link, the Hero of Time in a similar manner to how you would control Mario in the previous game, but you won't get simple levels. You'll get an entire world to explore, get lost in, and fight monsters in. There are more things to learn in this game than the other two, but remember, everything is designed so that a ten year old can learn it. And this game is widely regarded in the gaming community as the best game in one of the biggest franchises in all of gaming.
.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to hit me up. I think video games can be for everyone, if you just know where to start.
I looked online and saw prices ranging from $300-500. Is there any difference between these consoles other than the skin?
The $300 base model of the Nintendo Switch (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01LTHP2ZK/) does not include any games, but is still what you should most likely buy. More expensive models may have games bundled or free in-game currency (e.g. Fortnite), but they shouldn't be more than $350 (plus tax). At $360, you're not really saving any money, and anything more expensive than THAT is from a third party trying to make a quick buck. The console itself currently has few variations; most of your customization will depend on what color controllers you get with the console.
What type of accessories am I going to need?
This depends on your use case. I'd recommend getting a screen protector (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/). If you expect to bring the Switch out of the house a lot, also get a case (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MR63I6F/). Anything else, like special controllers (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0748S3GXG/) or a dock cover (https://www.etsy.com/listing/560319070/), is largely unnecessary right now; look into them when you find you need extra joy-cons (https://smile.amazon.comdp/B078GZM4H8/) or a tabletop stand (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N9RTMWS/) for your Switch. In the end, you should not be spending more than $400 for the Switch, one game, and core accessories.
As for games, so far I planned on buying Smash Bros, Let's Go Pikachu, and One's Justice. Can you recommend any other games? I was never into Zelda but hear the new game is very good.
How old is your kid? Super Mario Odyssey (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MY7GHKJ/) is fun, and has a great co-op mode if you want to play together. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is also always a blast (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N1037CV/). I'm also a huge fan of Splatoon 2 (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N9QVIRV/), but it's probably better for older kids because it requires more dexterity. There's lots of games to recommend, but it'll help to know what your kid already likes... or what you want your kid to like ;)
Side note: To play online, you need Nintendo Switch Online (https://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/). It's $20 a year for one ACCOUNT, or $35 a year for 8 accounts. Each account also has separate save files, if multiple people will be playing on the same Switch. Smash Ultimate and Mario Kart both have online modes, but Splatoon's primary game modes are online-only.
Whats the difference between mario party and mario space odyssey?
Super Mario Odyssey is an action-platformer for the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Party is a virtual board game for the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Galaxy is an action-platformer for the Wii, a completely different console.
Let us know if you have follow-up questions!
Ok here is my transcript:
Initial Question: Good morning. Earlier today I was talking to Chat and I got disconnected. Basically, I would like to know why Super Bomberman R's pre-order is not being applied the 20% discount usually applied to all video game pre-orders two weeks before release date. I have not placed the order yet, but I want to make sure that I can get this resolved before I place the order. Basically, if you look at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N9RAP7M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER there is no PRIME Savings line like there is with let's say Zelda: https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Breath-Wild-Switch/dp/B01MS6MO77/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1484924195&sr=1-1&keywords=zelda+breath+of+the+wild+nintendo+switch --- They both come out same day, both are pre-orders. How come one have the 20% Amazon Prime discount, and one does not? When I place both in my cart, I only see the 20% discount for Zelda, and not for Super Bomberman R. Thank you for your assistance with this.

> you clearly havent seen in online gaming groups if you think people would take bad graphics, belive me.
yes these players exist, but they are in a heavy minority. There are much more players who don't care about graphics and want good games(fun games, good story, good gameplay, ...).
> the stuff with the 3ds and wii u the only games you saw most the features deployed (and to an extent in the wii) were first party games because they were so closed off which i agree is dumb but with the switch hopfully as they have anounced several 3rd party devs they will be able to use the hardware better and make games for it
just remember, when the Wii U was announced, there also were many third party titles announced.
> also side note not all computers work the same way so it would be easier and better if developers didnt do pc cause its a harder platform (as different hardware configureations) vs console where its minor tweaks between 1 and 1s plus the 4 and 4pro.
yes, but for consoles the hard thing isn't the options you need, it's the console itself. Programers normally work on the PC and it is way easier to test that directly on the PC than to copy it over on to a console and then testing it there. And they have to repeat that, everytime they want to test something, which often happens hundreds or even thousands of times. Whereas creating different graphics settings doesn't need that much testing and can be done on one and the same system for all settings.
> you dont need the pro controller and your assuming that the controlers arent comfortable yet i seen people who went to the event say they were fine.
Yeah, I never had them in my hands so I don't really know how they are. I've heard that they are fine but the pro controller still feels much better, especially for people with big hands.
> the online unless they plan on doing worse version of PS+ then there shouldn't be anything wrong with it.
From what I've heard, it is going to be pretty expensive without giving you that much stuff. You will get NES and SNES games you can play for one month and after that, you would have to buy them.
> also wheres your source on the games price or are you making a guess based on the rest of current gen?
OK, they are 60€, but still, they shouldn't be that expensive.
here some sources:
Honestly, I think I just got screwed by a lazy chat rep.

12:50 AM PST Rabi: Okay, I can understand.
12:50 AM PST Maros128: I specifically clicked on the master edition link. And I have been waiting to purchase the item so I didn't lose out to scalpers so this has me a little upset
12:51 AM PST Rabi: In this case, you need to get Wild Master and when you purchase it is Wild Special .
Am I right?
12:51 AM PST Maros128: yes
12:53 AM PST Rabi: For your information, Wild master not yet opened for Pre-order and It seems that order was placed to wild special edition, In this case shall U cancel the order and email you once the wild master edition comes for pre-order?
*For your information, Wild master not yet opened for Pre-order and It seems that order was placed to wild special edition, In this case shall I cancel the order and email you once the wild master edition comes for pre-order?
12:55 AM PST Maros128: Is there a time for when it does go available? Because I don't want to end up missing out because i'm waiting for a delayed email and then it selling out
12:56 AM PST Rabi: No worries, I've created follow up personally and email you once the item is ready for pre-order and so you can access the item for per-order and place the order for the right item?>
12:57 AM PST Maros128: But will that guarantee me the item? Because I am in a lot of pain as I had oral surgery done yesterday afternoon and it's quite taxing for me to remain awake to make sure that I can get this.
12:58 AM PST Rabi: Sure, you'll get this item for sure, Louie.
12:59 AM PST Maros128: I Thought I had already purchased it since when i had refreshed at one point i was given the option to pre-order. and when I pressed the backwards navigation I received the notification "Important messages about items in your Cart:
We're sorry. The item The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition - Switch is no longer available from the seller you selected. To see if it's available from another seller, click here to return to the item's product detail page."
01:01 AM PST Rabi: I can understand, so once the item is available (Wild Master) I'll send you a confirmation email and your welcome to place a new order.
01:01 AM PST Maros128: thank you
01:01 AM PST Rabi: If you prefer I can help you in cancelling this order,Louie.
01:02 AM PST Maros128: I would actually prefer to cancel this order after I have for sure received confirmation that I have purchased the Master Edition of the game.
01:02 AM PST Rabi: Okay.
01:03 AM PST Rabi: It would be my utmost pleasure if there is anything else I can do for you today?
01:04 AM PST Maros128: As long as i have your assurance that will be all. Thank you so much for all of you help
01:04 AM PST Rabi: You’re very welcome.
Thank you for the patience and understanding.
01:05 AM PST Rabi: Louie, it was nice chatting with you, please click on the "End chat" button at the upper right corner of this window.
Thank you.

Broken dishwasher, broken washing machine, broken dryer. Dishwasher now fixed but we don't have a dryer at all and our washing machince just buzzes and doesnt wash. Ended up going to the local laundromat to do all of my laundry and sheets. Still not sure if we're renewing the lease. Maybe I should just find another place to live >(
I bought project highrise during the summer steam sale. That was a lot of fun. Oxygen not included is hard for me. I can't get the whole filteration system working (air and water)
Bought a game called Mint works. SUPER FUN! EVEN IN SOLO MODE! I'm going to go play some more of it right now. Can't wait to try playing it with other people. I do have a few other board games coming from amazon: Pandemic, Treasure Hunter Game, Gloom Second Edition: Unhappy Home expansion, Dairyman, monopoly deal, and i preordered splatoon 2
I finally was honest to myself and worked on my budget and student loan repayment plan. Budget looks kinda ugly. I'm terrified. There's never going to be enough money in this world... Also, I've been overspending like crazy. I'm really good at budgeting when I see the numbers. I was just in denial for the longest time because I wanted to treat myself. I didn't have the "college experience" so i went out a lot, ate out a lot, and overall threw money at crafts and animals. I'll have to be more findful now.
I wanted to get another hobonichi, but realized that they won't have them for 2017 anymore. I started looked at other notebooks. I do have a midori, but I don't really want to use it for bullet journaling. It gets quite expensive because I want to use that and keep that more as a notetaker/jot it down. I bought this STALOGY which looks pretty good. I'll be keeping an expense log, bullet journaling, and random notetaking in it.
I bought a vintage sewing machine recently. The singer slant-o-matic. I used them as a middleschooler in home economics and it's 100% BOMB. I was thinking about getting a more modern machine, but went Nah. The set I bought also came with a bunch of extra bobbins.
Last week I was at a fair and saw some people doing pillow lace/bobbin lace. It looks so awesome. I want to try it! It's a bit costly to get started though... I'm going to hold off on it for a while and use nontraditional materials to make some lace.
Since I'm really struggling with making friends and DOING SOMETHING that's not gaming, redditing, animals, and cleaning... I figured I could go take some community college classes (interior design, fashion, flower arrangement, etc), cello lessons, piano lessons, modern dance/ballet/jazz/hip hop lessons, sewing lessons, or something like that to get me out of the house.
On Wednesday, I went bouldering for the first time. I'm a bosssssss. JK. I haven't worked out in ages. My arms basically fell off when I woke up thursday morning. Couldnt even flush the toilet, open the fridge, or open the door. They even felt swollen. My legs were fine though. Normally with swimming, I get soreness in my core and legs. This is definitely a new muscle group I'm not used to have pain in. I've been taking some tylenol to help with my pain. Not sure if I like this enough to go back. I stopped going to the gym because I specifically didn't want large shoulders. IDK why when I work out, my shoulders just get bigger and bigger. My torso is a XS/S but my shoulders are an M. I'm absolute terrified of heights as well... So...maybe this isnt the sport for me. It's fun though! I'd go again, just wouldn't get a gym membership for it.
Well, they changed it back finally.
This is the Switch listing, and always has been the Switch listing. There has never been another Switch listing for the core game, and the rep that told someone that Amazon would be adding the Switch preorder "soon" and hadn't yet was all levels of wrong. Someone got them to change it yesterday to say "Wii U" instead of "Switch" in the title, and since Amazon reps aren't informed on the issue, they just saw it categorized under "Wii U" on Amazon's CMS (Since they don't have a Switch category yet, all Switch games were put here since the beginning) but it seems that they've gotten it fixed. If you preordered with this one and see "You Purchased this item on XXX" at the top, you should be fine. Thanks to the fiasco, they removed this game from the Wii U category, and now it is under "Video Games › Kids & Family". "Platform - Nintendo Switch" has also been added above the preorder button, under the pricing.
This is also the link that is listed on the official Nintendo Zelda website buy page for the Switch. This was honestly the easiest way for people to know that yes, they were buying the Switch version, despite what Amazon reps (that once again, clearly didn't know) were telling people.
This is the Wii U listing, and always has been the Wii U listing. They added "Wii U" in the title to this one.
Despite the irony of a million and one threads being made on this topic (and me adding to that number now), hopefully this is the end of Breath of the Wild 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Anyone that fucks this up now clearly just isn't reading.
Ill build two routes handheld gaming and docked.
Docked
Switch - $300
Pro Controller -$65
Legend of Zelda BOTW - 44.99
Mario Kart 8 -$55
Total - $ 464.00
Handheld
Switch - $300
Legend of Zelda BOTW - 44.99
Nintendo Official Wall Charger - $28 (I choose this because I am very picky about power options with consoles and I know this will function)
Switch Case - $15 (This can be hit or miss a lot of people love butterfox but my two smelled like shit and opted for a better version, but for the price it is unbeatable, worth the risk of the smell)
Mario Kart 8 -$55
Total - $443
Games can be changed in and out but imo BOTW is the best game on the switch and Mario Kart 8 is loads of fun. I personally do not have a pro controller, mainly because I play strictly handheld but from what I have been told it is a must for docked gameplay.
Edit: In the future you are going to need a SD card. Especially if you are going the Digital route, again personally I prefer physical and the at of collecting the games but that is me.
Best case available IMO
pretty good game to pick up
another great game. this one is a bit hard but it's got basically infinite replay value and is a great game to play on the go
I'm also on the lookout for a good deal on Skyrim, but didn't see it in any of the ads yet. It is $45 at Walmart right now (https://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Skyrim-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01N332TG8) but certainly $30 or less would be better. Good luck!
I went ahead and scrubbed through and am gonna also compile a list of games available for pre-order through Amazon. Eligible for 20% off for Prime subscribers! Some product pages will show as Switch Title [Number] but once in your cart they will display the proper name. Amazon does not charge you until the product is shipped!

I would suggest the following screen protector, it has been pretty solid for me, I have screwed up a couple times applying a second one though, so you may want to grab 2 sets just in case, make sure you apply it in a fairly dust free environment...
For the case, if you can, I would suggest getting the Zelda Special Edition, it comes with a pretty solid case along with music CD and such, Good build quality
I think it's amazing that you're still spreading love despite things being tougher right now!
I actually just purchased my big "save-up" item, a nintendo switch :) It's my first big purchase since I started my job in October and it's been a blast. The next thing I'm saving up for is the game Splatoon 2. It's a super cool game and my little cousin is dying to play it. I would love to be able to play it with him but I have to keep saving up, since I just spent all that money on the system itself!
Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis
When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this
Thanks for the contest :)
For me, I plan on getting:
After Launch:(I already have these on pre-order through Amazon, 20% off!)
I'm also a backer for Yooka-Laylee, so I'll get that whenever they release a Switch version.
I was contemplating going all-digital but then I found out about the Amazon Prime discount. On my games, I saved $55.07 by just buying the physical copy.
You really gotta wonder how Amazon makes any money on Prime subscriptions... I order items all the time that are below the normal free shipping amount...
This is part of a price match on some Nintendo published games discounted at [Wal-Mart](https://www.walmart.com/browse/2636_7899038?cat_id=2636_7899038&facet=retailer:Walmart.com||video_game_platform:Nintendo Switch&max_price=44&min_price=42).

That is the one I ordered and it says in order history..Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Switch but Im chatting with amazon support now..of course the guy has absolutely NO clue what Im talking about but he is gonna check for me
Edit: this is what he said
Thank you for your patience, I've checked and confirmed that your order was placed for Switch version, Please do not worry, you'll receive the correct switch version
I hope this helps
I hope he is correct
So pretty much another eBay exclusive.
Yet here I'll be optimistic that I'll be lucky enough to be online during the 3 seconds it'll be available.
edit: quick everyone get lucky! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MT8SWKC/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1484290574&sr=1-5&keywords=The+Legend+of+Zelda+Breath+of+the+Wild+Nintendo+Switch
That's if they restock it. Reggie said during the Treehouse presentation that there is only a limited number of them being made and once theyre gone, theyre gone. I mainly want the map and the coin, the statue is cool but you can get much more detailed ones elsewhere. What I did was set up alerts on Amazon so hopefully they get restocks while the Americans are asleep. Heres the links if you want to do the same. Consoles are region free so the cart will still play here
Amazon my man!

FYI! I had to close out of uworld so I could copy and paste this for you :) Happy thanksgiving
Thanks for the link. I wonder why the Special Edition is $99.99 in the US (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N224U9S/) and £159.99 in the UK? That seems...wonky.
Edit - it's gone down to £89.99 now. Any sign of the master edition in the UK?
Edit again - looks like the special edition in the UK includes the master sword, so maybe that's the only edition we're getting?
PS4 and X1's online services give away a shitload more games than Switch does, which handily counteracts the increased cost. I've been a PS+ user since before it was required for online, and since the program launched I've gotten way more out of it that I personally played than I put into it, money-wise.
And dude, you're wrong: Amazon has Mario, BOTW, Splatoon, and Mario Kart listed as on sale for $44.99, down from $59.99, for Amazon prime users. Check it. Gamestop still has them for full MSRP as well. They're not $30. They're full MSRP.
And while Nintendo exclusives are great, it's not like Sony's have been terrible. Spider-Man is amazing, as were all the titles I listed.
Any idea how safe the pre-orders are once you've got them in? I got my confirmation email already, just not sure if I should still follow through with my plan to go to gamestop when the open to order it in store, or if I'm safe to not have it get canceled at this point? (ordered less than 5 minutes after this post went up)
Also anyone know what's up ewith the BotW special/Master editions? They say switch but are listed under Wii U category, and say their release dates are the 13th rather than the 3rd. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N224U9S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Got both the regular and special edition pre-ordered now just to be safe, but it's a bit confusing.

At the top above Add to Cart, they say either:

And note that just above the Product Description, all of them say:

That's what you need to look for. Most (but not all) new games or time card will be eligible. If the game is old, and no longer being published by the original company, it's probably going to come from a third-party and not be eligible.
Master edition : https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Breath-Wild-Master-Switch/dp/B01MT8SWKC/ref=zg_bs_videogames_4
Special edition: https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Breath-Wild-Special-Switch/dp/B01N224U9S/ref=zg_bs_videogames_3
Special edition case looks more or less like the regular retail version. The Master edition is black and a bit cooler looking.
If you're talking about the carry case, then yes, they seem to be exactly the same in both packages.
Just gonna go ahead and put this right here: nothing fancy no weird eBay or cL stuff; straight up amazon prices: also with the exception of the Yok brand wheels being subbed for the licensed Nintendo ones; this is all apples to apples
Amazon links and prices for everything brand new:
Switch - New $300 / used $255
NBA 2k18 - New $60 / Used $36
Mario Odyssey - New $49 / Used $40
Hori Gamepad - New $21 / Used $15
(can't find the wheel by brand so)Nintendo Steering Wheels 2 - New $15 / Used $12
Nyko Thin Case - New $10 / Used in color shown $28 on amazon
Hori Screen Protector - new $3.26 / used why buy a used screen protector
So yeah, that's about everything
Total for everything new: $459
Total for everything used: $372
I’m not saying you should sell it at $372 (not strongly anyway) just ya know, it’s maybe $20 for you to ship it, $390?
As someone mentioned Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are must haves.
Some I'd recommend would be
Also, although you didn't ask here are some cheap officially licensed controllers I'd recommend for the Nintendo Switch that are 49.99$ and below:
Does anybody know whether these Super Mario + Joy Con bundles (https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Party-Neon-Green-Yellow/dp/B07JDG35L7/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543004539&sr=8-1&keywords=mario+party+with+joy+con) will be restocked with retailers in the (near) future?
Yep, it went up yesterday. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B075MZT53Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_tZBWzbZPS9DAR
Edit: it's available right now on Best buy.ca if you're interested (at least it was as of writing this).
The Special edition is up on Amazon right now.
And it's up on Best Buy (if you have GCU and want that sweet, sweet discount).
(not the Master Edition, I'm afraid)
Does anyone know why Super Mario Odyssey is more expensive than normal in Canada?
For those outside of Canada, a new game is usually $79.99, but everywhere I look, Super Mario Odyssey is priced at or near $99. In other countries it has the typical price a new game would, but for whatever reason, it's $20 more than normal in Canada

Here's the Amazon link with out any tracker in url link
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS6MO77/

Basically, having this "https://www.amazon.com/dp/" as base and then looking for "B0......" as you saw from my link. Done! And if it was .../B01MS6MO77?ref=... , don't include ?ref=... until the end. This is also the tracker that saying where did you come from.

B01MS6MO77 is like an ID for the item you are looking on Amazon. So this is all you need.
Hope this help!
I've been waiting until today to buy the new Super Mario Party bundle, I recently searched for it at Amazon and the price is 199 not 99, does anyone know what happened? Here is the link at Amazon
Welp, Zelda is still : Best Sellers Rank : #1 in Video Games > Wii U > Games
and 1-2 Switch is still in Wii U :')
I'm sure we'll see a small sale at some point, but who knows when. The physical Special Edition is on sale right now @ 16% off, still probably more than you would like to spend though.

It was partially a joke. I tend not to preorder any games. However you must not use amazon.(or best buy membership, from what I've heard)
Preordered games save you 20%. Which is a fantastic deal on Nintendo games, considering in 4 years it will probably still be $60 retail.
Amazon

Looks like Best Buy is the only one not sold out.

$159.99 pounds on Amazon.co.uk for the special edition (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MS6R9FG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=aminew-21&linkId=86046cac7373bb485ae4acfc272b91aa)
wow...
Talk about a overpriced special edition.
Looks like they adjusted the price (probably was placeholder)...now is £89.99.
Wow, thanks for the heads up!! I got an order in.
It's confusing because I had the original special listing in my wish list, but there is a new listing for this.

Just got a BotW Special Edition from Amazon UK. With fastest shipping it came out to about $111 and arrives Mar 7-9...not great but I'll take it for now.
EDIT: Didn't realize EU gets a "Limited Edition", not Special Edition or Master Edition. Only comes with game, soundtrack, and statue. The listing on Amazon calls it the Special Edition, this is inaccurate.

The MSRP is $59.99, and after you apply the Prime 20% physical discount to it, brings it to $47.99.
However, Amazon is offering the game for $47.77, regardless of Prime. Logout of your Amazon account and view the product page, it'll still display the $47.77 price with no mention of it being a "Prime-only" price. If you open another Switch game's page, like Super Mario Odyssey, it'll display the normal $59.99(96) price: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MY7GHKJ/
Last week, Super Mario Maker 2 was discounted to $52 for prime day savings. Pre-orders were charged $60 instead of the lowest price with their price match. It appears the price change may have been made through a discount applied at checkout instead of the item itself.
Customer Support refuses to acknowledge the issue even exists.

>Thanks for all your replies! But in terms of pricing is it good to buy online from places like amazon and game? How do they compare to CEX and GameStop?
I buy almost all my stuff digitally cos I'm a lazy shite, but the odd time I buy physical Amazon has always been cheaper than Gamestop. You can have a browse now and see that's pretty much the case - Destiny 2 is €51 vs €75, Mario Odyssey is €47 vs €75, Horizon is €43 vs €75, Nier Automata €43 vs €65, and on and on and on. It's especially egregious right now cos the British pound is tanking, but even before amazon was always way cheaper. Maybe with brexit their prices will go up and retail here will be more competitive. I doubt it though, retail prices are even higher than digital sometimes - Destiny 2 is cheaper on PSN than it is at Gamestop right now.
FYI - here is the Amazon link to the physical copy on the off chance you didn't have it saved. Check back often, but I honestly think the launch day window has passed at this point.

Hijacking the top comment to say Captain Toad is $40 on Amazon right now.
Edit: It occurs to me that since pricing hasn't been confirmed yet, we don't actually know which is the correct price. $40 could just as likely be an incorrect placeholder as well. Just to be safe, I went ahead and preordered on Amazon at $40. Can always cancel later on anyway.

It's $35.97 on Steam and $35.47 for Switch, I don't know where you get your prices from. But yes it would be easily worth $60 considering most AAA games can't even compete with the deep gameplay and amounts of content
This means Amazon is selling 2 Wii U version and none for the Switch. This has to be some screw up that is just getting deeper.
Edit: /u/mygawd pointed out that the title has been fixed back to Switch and as I just checked the platform now correctly says Switch. Looks like we are good!

I just pre-ordered the game on Amazon for $49.99 CAD. So yeah, it's not gonna be $80 lol
My turn. I agree with OP's picks for top 3 and also linked the Amazon pages for these games.
Amazon's outsourced chat support isn't exactly known for giving out accurate information. Unless it's an Amazon Policy they have zero knowledge about products or their descriptions, this guy literally just parroted the platform from the item summary.
Also they already have two disctinct pages:
Chat
Edit: Paid for Zelda Great dude and salesman.
Edit2: If anyone also looking for zelda you can pick one up on amazon for 45$ today https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS6MO77/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?tag=slicinc-20&ascsubtag=8d65e66e171b11e8a4252ecfd3424a6c0INT&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
UPDATE 3: BotW no longer available for preorder either. RIP Amazon preorders (for now).
Just to make sure, is this one Amazon US? I'd really like to know, so I don't accidentaly buy a not-release edition :D
Looks like preorder is up on Amazon. $30? Not bad at all. And it's eligible for the -20% Prime preorder discount, which seems like it's not always a given. Looking forward to this.
Digital codes for BotW, Super Mario Odyssey, XBC2, and Yoshi were a bit cheaper on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Breath-Wild-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01MS6MO77 still is unless it's a tax issue
I'm looking at the game page now on Amazon. It looks like the game will not ship until release day, so whatever shipping you choose from that date. It would have the option "want to receive this the day it comes out?" option if you were able to receive it the day it is released.
example:
https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Souls-Remastered-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B078YM9ZL5/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1518111515&sr=1-5&keywords=bayonetta+switch
Maybe when it gets closer to release day Amazon will know if they can do arrival on release day.
Fake covers, but then no Binding of Isaac cover?
Is real and it's super cool art to boot. Makes me think of retro box art.
Hello r/NintendoSwitch

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Special Edition - Nintendo Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075MZT53Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_d6sBDb6CQNZ5S
A bit expensive, but worth it IMO
Nah you just have your nostalgia googles on! That game suckz! Here is a real gamers game. Ddot Drawoh recommend it a lot, giving it a 10/5!
You can order some, like Mario Kart 8. They don't have any box art yet and they are being categorized as "Wii U" games still. I'm not so worried about having the games pre-ordered since those will be easier to find than the console itself.

Just curious why people are asking $350 for this combo when it's $390 on amazon brand new.
Switch
Game
To me brand new and warranty is worth the $40.
*deleted an extra word.
This isn't too much of an improvement but Amazon's listing is up now and has it at $50. With prime savings it's 39.99. I agree though, it still should be a bundled title.

Viewing it right now it looks like a third party seller has it for $44.50 with free shipping.
If Amazon themselves had it for the same price, maybe they're only having an inventory problem because of the unusually low price spiking sales.
I think this is the one (I'm assuming you are from US since in european amazon versions its easy to find)
https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Breath-Wild-Switch/dp/B01MS6MO77/
I don't know why there is not an image :\
I'll add that in one month. It will cost 60$ and will be published under the name of "Super Mario Maker 2".
You can even prepurchase that update here: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Maker-2-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B07NQDG7RQ/
In other words, the goal of this project was to design level before the game comes out and make them once it's out.

Here's the link, please note that this IS NOT sold by Amazon and not eligible for Prime shipping. This is a 3rd party sale so QTY might be limited
Ring Fit Adventure - Nintendo Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XV4NHHN
BoTW Special and Master on amazon.
Speical (no statue) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N224U9S/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1484295985&sr=1-4&keywords=The+Legend+of+Zelda+Breath+of+the+Wild+Nintendo+Switch

Gray switch available: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01LTHP2ZK/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1484297410&sr=1-1&keywords=nintendo+switch
Zelda Special Edition also on amazon us:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N224U9S/ref=sr_1_6?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1484297496&sr=1-6&keywords=nintendo+switch
But they do have switch set up as a platform, because arms has switch as it's platform https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBTWOVC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but then 1 2 switch says Wii U https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MZ8ZGI6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
so its all over the place. I agree the Zelda order is probably fine and amazon just messed up the platform
