The fish oil actually looks pretty good according to labdoor. They gave it a B- grade, but only because the pills only contain 360mg omega 3 per 1200mg fish oil. They make some higher concentrated omega 3 fish oil pills that are like 80-90% omega 3 but they are much more expensive. You can find them on amazon.

The Nature's Made pills are fine though, you'll just get a little more non-omega 3 oil, but that doesn't hurt. Dose should be ~1 gram omega 3 per day, so you could take up to 3 of those nature made pills per day and it'd be fine.

Fish oil is a good supp to take in general but it's not one that you're gonna see any acute effects from (it's not gonna give you a noticeable boost in "ambition" like you were looking for in your original post), especially if you already eat fish. It is good for you cardiovascular system and brain though.

L-theanine on the other hand you might see some acute benefits from. It acts on glutamate receptors in the brain and increases levels various neurotransmitters. It is also is supposed to increase levels of BDNF and NGF, which are hormones that play a role in neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. I occasionally take L-theanine in the evening (200-400mg) to wind down after work. I find it fairly relaxing. Definitely needs to be taken on an empty stomach with water though to see effects. If you take it in the morning with coffee/caffeine it kinda takes the edge of the caffeine buzz and can really help you get in the zone and focus. It's pretty easy to find good l-theanine, I got mine from liftmode, it seems to work fine. Tell me about it—I didn’t even get a chance to ask a couple of questions! I’m calling the insurance company and complaining. Not that that will do anything!

Unreal. 35 years old and you are told you are SUPPOSED to ache. What bullshit.

Well, today I had an orthopedic doctor look at my knee, and, surprise, there is a small tear in the meniscus… but that isn’t the problem. I have patellar tendonitis. He poked and prodded, asked questions, and got it figured right away. Had me get on the table and showed me some stretches to do at home, ordered me some physical therapy, and answered my short list of questions. He also said don’t waste my time with chondroitin or glucosamine, but that I should try some SAMe as it does well for orthopedic issues. Well, at least not all doctors suck.

I hear you. Doctors have an unwarranted god status. I could list a whole slew of incompetent doctors (and dentists!) I’ve had. Don’t get me started.

Well, I know one thing for sure, if I have more that one or two drinks, my mood is definitely worse the next day or two. And, I don't recover very easily like the good old days of drinking... Certainly seems like dumping a bunch of alcohol in your gut isn’t a good idea, but I don’t know if it makes it past the stomach. A small amount of red wine is supposed to be good for you. Maybe there is a strain of bacteria from France that does good thing with a regular feeding?? :)

Glad the exercise reduction is working for you. I sometimes overdo it… more must be better, right? But no rest for the muscles, no growth.

Yeah, I hear you. The financial bit always messes with my sleep. I live in a fairly noisy neighborhood, but with the earplugs and fan running, I’m generally good. Except for now as part of the Remeron withdrawal is disturbed sleep. I stay asleep all night, but feel like crap in the morning. And the day is a bit of a slog. I can tell I’m not getting good sleep. Chemical sleep just isn’t very good.

I fly to NM in three days. Looks like it is pretty warm there. Yeah, I hear you about that… my friends have a farm in Vermont and when I sleep there I sleep like the dead!

I’m just so very tired of all these ADs and crap. Like I said previously, I’ve only gotten off them when I was in ketosis, so that’s the way I’m heading…

Ovulation cycle day: 13


Relevant BD/BD method: Husband coins the phrase "Fuck week" method. Sex every night from CD8 to CD16.


Tracking methods and apps used:


First cycle using Ava bracelet. 🙄 I used FF for a long while but over time started to genuinely despise temping. Temp drops would send me into downward spirals in the wee hours of the morning. My husband started to resent FF. My cycles were very regular and since I knew I typically ovulated between CD 12-14 (thanks to FF), we adopted fuck week protocol and stopped with temping some months back. I would encourage anyone starting out to jump right into temping because I regret not starting sooner but would also encourage anyone to stop it if it's making you miserable.


As for the Ava, I had an abandoned HSA account from an old job with a few hundred bucks and (for whatever reason) it's too big of a pain to merge it with my current HSA so I've been running it down. Ava is kind of neat but I assure you, you do not need this thing. It's overpriced for what it does, imo.


Symptom spotting:

Nipples were mildly tingly but they were last cycle too so I didn't put much stock into it. Bloated and gassy before BFP but still did not register until after the fact.


Day of positive test(s): 14 DPO (CD 27)


I'm away on business travel this week and next. I got my BFP in a hotel bathroom alone on Wednesday morning. Thanks to the huge bathroom mirror, I got to see the big smile on my face. 😊


BFP stands for big faint positive in my case because the line was there but no where near as dark as the control. I brought a few cheapie ClinicalGuard tests from Amazon with me on this trip. I took another test CD16 (Friday) and it was still faint as the first. Que deep panic setting in. Turns out there's a number of reviews on Amazon warning not to use these for line progression purposes. I have a FRER at home I can take when I get back. Debating if I should get a Clearblue Digital while I'm down here to show hubs when he picks me up from the airport later this week. 🤔 🤷


I had a miscarriage at 6 wks this year in April and had a very faint line on a FRER at DPO 16 then. Nothing like prior miscarriage to rob the joy of a positive pregnancy test. (This is why the faint line has me so terrified.)


I did get a fucking grip after I read this article so panic averted for now. A faint positive is still a positive. The line on a home pregnancy test isn't going to tell you if you will carry to term. It's just pregnant: true/false. Embracing the "today, I am pregnant" mentality and cherishing the bloat, gas, and increasingly sore boobs.

Two back to back Mirenas, last one removed April 2017. Had not had my period for many years until ttc. Forgot how much it sucked. It took about 3 months to normalize after removal.


Typical cycle length: 27 days


Health conditions/medical tests: Sedentary and stressful office job. Otherwise healthy.

I switched to "pregnancy monitoring mode" or whatever and now I can't see what the chart looked like before that. :/ It said that I ovulated on CD 13 (Sept 26). OF COURSE, the one night I forgot to wear was a fairly critical data day CD 12.

Note that the temp rise is not very clear post ovulation. (Not as clear as I was used to on FF.)

Other (advice, magic secrets, freaking out, miscellaneous):


I have been stressed out to the max with my job this cycle. So much for "just relax and it will happen". 😂 That being said, I have gone through a weird attitude adjustment over the past few cycles. Hard to describe. I stopped being so negative and also stopped being overly anxious about making things perfect. I drank coffee throughout this cycle and into ttw. I tried to get up from my desk and walk everyday. I didn't consider myself out immediately just because something wasn't optimal. I read somewhere on Pinterest, "You don't need perfection to get pregnant" and it really stuck with me. In the end, conception happens on the microscopic level and how you feel about it isn't going to impact much. So you might as just go with the flow. My husband helped me see this. He really helped lift me out of my funk.


I fly home on Thursday and wouldn't you know it, hubs and I have our first appt with an RE on Friday morning. (Nuts to think I made this appointment in August.) If everything stays good by Monday (Tuesday the latest), I'm going to call to cancel or reschedule a month out and see how it goes.


I would have been due in December with the baby we lost earlier this year. Hopefully I will be far enough along to make an announcement at the family Christmas party instead. 🤞

Thorough info I really appreciate it And as someone who has gotten the most relief/answers from naturopathic / holistic doctors, I really appreciate that you are open minded enough to go to an ND. Can't tell you how much hate ive gotten whenever I write about my experiences with ND's. Yet not one western doctor MD has yet t ask about my diet, and when I asked my primary care UCLA doctor where I can get tested for vitamin deficiencies she said "I have no idea."

Okay, I've been product free in the bathroom for nearly a year now. Here's what i do!
I wash my hair with water first. Then if you are still oily scrub a bit with some Dr. Bronners castile soap. I also use Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar mixed 1/3 with distilled water. If I feel fancy I will steep some chamomile or other teas with the water for some added herbal goodness! The pungent scent of the ACV doesn't stick. So after you have dried off you won't smell terrible. Just search around on google and on r/naturalbeauty to find more information on all of this.



I brush with some baking soda from Mountain Rose Herbs and I sprinkle some Activated Charcoal on top of that. Oh and I use Tom's deodorant. Its the only antiperspirant that I've found that works for me. There are also organic options for perfume as well in roll on, spray, or bar scented oils.


Instead of using face cleansers/ pads I use something called the Oil Cleansing Method. It has done WONDERS for my acne. I used to be on on Accutane in high school and it hasn't really improved. You make an oil mixture and just rub it on your face for around 5 mins until you can feel the gunk coming out. Then set a warm, wet washcloth over your face until it cools. Wipe all of the oil off and your good to go! I used ACV afterwards if I need to tone my skin. You can also use this oil mixture as a moisturizer. Grapeseed is a great oil for this because when it dries it doesn't leave your skin looking oily. Essential oils are great for the OCM but not necessary. Tea tree is great with acne, I put a few drops in my palm with my oil before doing the OCM.


The best part about all of these items (ACV, Charcoal, etc) is that they can be used in many ways outside of the bathroom! Including cleaning and personal health.


Just check out r/naturalbeauty its more orientated towards women, but anyone looking to have a natural bathroom regimen could learn a thing or two. All of this sounds crazy to most people, I knowww. But if you have any questions just ask :)

First B12:

Vegans commonly have one main nutrient of concern and that's B12, vegan products are gaining more space on the shelves so now we have several fortified foods with B12 but you have to understand how B12 works in your body so in the end of the day the simplest way is just taking a supplement but it's possible to get it without any supplemention whatsoever depeding on your diet:

Calcium

Since you'll be cutting dairy from your diet I advise you to put some plant-based milk as a replacement. You'll have no qualms with calcium and plant-based milks are fortified with several vitamins and micronutrients.

Overall:

Although people talk a lot about the difficulty of getting other nutrients, I think it's super difficult to have problems with any other nutrient. To have a better idea, get an app called "cronometer" to monitor you micros and if you just eat normally you'll see that's almost impossible to have problems with other nutrients. You should also check out Dr. Greger "daily dozen" app.

Personally, I don't take omega-3 supplements just ALA everyday and I eat fortified foods and sometimes I just eat a B12 gummybear for safety.

For probiotics, Dr. Patrick swears by VSL #3 but it is quite expensive and seems like it might actually be too strong for some people. Labdoor has ranked some popular options. I don't put too much trust in their scoring system but you can create a free account and read through the reports of ones you might be interested in. I have an n=1 experience with a family member taking Garden of Life Primal Defense and doing quite well with that.

For prebiotics, the standard recommendation is to get enough fiber and to include some fermented foods in your diet such as kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir, or kombucha.

I know my diet isn’t amazing so I typically take a multi vitamin, iron supplement, vegan omega 3 supplement, vegan D3 supplement, and biotin (for non health related reasons).

I am in the same boat and just had my labs done. I am 37 yrs old and my doctor thinks I am too young to be on a statin. I had a doctor who had me on a statin for a short period before. I don't know what the side effects are from statins. What I am seeing about taking niacin to lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol is that its a second choice if statins aren't working or the patient can't take statins. I have only taken niacin a couple times and would never do it again because of the flush. I am looking for a niacinamide, zinc, copper, and folic acid supplement for my acne. A girl on here had posted about taking a niacinamide supplement for her cystic acne and how much it has helped.

Do you take fish oil? It helps with cholesterol and is good for your cardiovascular system. I have gone up and down dramatically with my weight and have tried so many things. Honestly the only way to lose weight and keep it off is by changing your lifestyle to eating healthy and exercising. Diets are crap, make small changes at first and then make more. I need to do this, but I love my ginger ale. I drink a lot of water but I drink 4 cans of ginger ale a day I need to give it up. Garcinia cambogia is the only supplement that I have seen aid in weight loss, but I haven't tried it yet. Garlic is supposed to aid in lowering bad cholesterol, I believe.

Those are the only supplements I take. Ideally, I'd add fish into my diet and alternate between that and chicken, but I'm a broke college student, so the fish oil is more beneficial for me at the moment, personally.

Animal is the brand of multivitamin I take. It's a pretty robust vitamin, and I have both the pills and the powder. IMO, the powder is worth it. The pills are cheaper, but you have to take a lot of them, and I'd personally rather just chug the mixture instead.

From what I've read, any other supplements are only going to give you a tiny optimization. You're likely to get more out of an extra rep than any estrogen blockers, BCAA powder, or post-workout will.

I'm not an authority on the topic, of course, but that seems to be the consensus among most lifters.

My psychiatrist, who is excellent, recommended supplementing my anti-D’s with Omega 3’s. It worked wonderfully, I have more energy all day. And there is actual research on it.

I buy this brand, which has excellent labdoor scores and is a value buy. Viva Naturals

Make sure you buy O-3’s with between 1000 to 2000mg of EPA per dose. If you can, make sure the level of DHA only reaches a third of that number (330mg of DHA per 1000mg of EPA). Do not take if you have manic depression.

Garden of Life ftw. I'm not a doctor, but I have family members that are. Can't give you medical advice, but there can be a plethora of things that are giving you the issues you mentioned, most common things based off what you said is heart burn or GERD (google it). I'd recommend you see a GI doctor, they'll probably recommend doing a scope or something, or may just start you on PPI's like omeprozole, zantec or something. Keep in mind the things you eat and see if they make things worse. Like if you eat a tomato, drink coffee or OJ, or anything citrus or spicy, does that make you burp and give you heartburn? If so, you probably have acid reflux which is pretty common.

Uncommon things- H. Pylori, ulceration, etc etc

All that on the side, I religously preach about probiotics to everyone I know having gut issues. It's not a miracle cure, but definitely helps if you have an imbalanced diet. Since I started probiotics, I seldom take any kind of acid reflux medication unless I know I'm going to be eating food or drinking that might fuck with my gut, but even when I don't take it and eat/drink things that might affect me, I don't have symptoms as often.

I removed almost all carbs and processed foods from my diet, and it's honestly been the most important improvement to my mental health compared to anything else. Less brain fog, more motivation, more mental clarity, better sleep, etc.

I generally eat a lot of vegetables, coconut and avocado oil, eggs, lots of nuts and seeds, coconut water and chicken broth, variety of meat including fish, and berries (the least sugary fruits) and dark chocolate for treats. No gluten and very little dairy (fan of expensive cheese, not the cheap stuff).

Considering tryng 5HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan). It's sold over the counter as natural mood and sleep enhancer. I typically buy the 'Now' brand as it guarantees safe processing methods and highest quality ingredients. It works with melatonin and seratonin levels. I tried plain melatonin for years but these work much better.

It's taken at bedtime as it causes drowsniness and helps you sleep more soundly. I've been taking it nightly (100mg) and I wake up in a better mood and more refreshed. Just an option - good luck.

If marijuana happens to be legal where you are, that definitely helps. Not trying to be a troll I honestly had the easiest time bulking when I lived in Cali and had my medical card.

Other than that. I found powerlifting and strongman type routines made me much much hungrier than body building. I know some people are just trying to look good naked but you'll probably gain more dense muscle mass going this route then you can switch to body building when you're ready to cut.

Chocolate milk and protein powder.

Break up your meals into every 2-3 hours. Even if you can only eat a protein shake and a banana, eat something every 2-3 hours.

Something that worked for me was week by week id add another meal in. So 3 meals the first week. Then the second week id throw in an additional hamburger patty and 1/2 cup of rice. So on and so forth.

Hardboiled eggs are your friend.

Edit: I'm also lactose intolerant but I found lactose free chocolate milk at HEB. (Texas grocery chain)

No cardio unless you need to perform. To help with overall heart health try 20-30 mins LISS 2-3 times per week. Just remember the more you do cardio the more you gotta eat to compensate.

Digestion enzymes have been doing wonders for me. I have a pretty wimpy stomach myself. As in when I overeat my toilet looks like a murder crime scene. Not anymore after I started taking these.

First off, I'll say that I have no ideas what the cause might be. But I'd like to offer something that might help the symptoms - Omega 3 supplements. Because it sounds to me that, whatever the cause, her cells are having problems repairing themselves. And Omega 3's are a major component to the building of cells and allowing them to communicate with each other. But American diets are notoriously short on Omega 3's and usually gets substituted with Omega 6's instead, which are less effective for the cells.

In short, they might help - or they might not, but I can hope - but I don't think they'd cause any harm. I'd talk with her doctors first, just because she's likely on a whole pharmacy of drugs that could potentially cause interactions, but if they don't think it would hurt, you might give it a try. Even if they don't think it will help, I'd still try it if it won't cause any harm - because who knows, it just might help.

Try a very strong dose in the purest form you can find. Nordic Naturals are good if she can take pills. Coromega pastes are really good if she has problems with pills.

You might look into an intermittent fasting kind of diet to address your issues while eating at work. A lot of people love it and say it helps their metabolism. You basically just consume your calories within a small window for the day. I've also found that a high fat diet keeps me satiated to where I don't even think about food. But if I'm eating a lot of carbs, I'm usually hungry again within a few hours of eating. When you sleep at night, you can go into ketosis where your body burns fat for fuel. I've found that if I wake up and have nothing but fat for breakfast (usually this stuff blended in coffee/tea), in theory my body might stay in ketosis, and I'm full until the late afternoon/evening. That's something everyone I know who eats a ketosis style diet says, they aren't constantly hungry. Where if I have the same amount of calories from nuts/seeds/cereal/fruit/whatever, I'm always hungry around lunch time. I still always eat around lunch because I'm really active and know I need the calories, but the difference in my appetite is huge. I'm also a lot more mentally clear/sharp with nothing but fat in the morning. You might try that, too.

Like other people said, they are probably either active or they aren't counting their calories correctly. If these people are youtube/internet famous, remember they have a brand/lifestyle/advice to sell, and they're going to say what gets them the most viewers and conveniently leave out other things that aren't so sexy (like hours of cardio a day or whatever). "Eat as much as you won't and you won't get fat!" That sells way better than "Eat a reasonable amount of food for your body and exercise."

I'd suggest reading this article by Chris Kresser, but essentially, folic acid is the synthetic form of folate. Its not as easily absorbed and its not good in higher doses.


Because folate is rather difficult to find in prenatals, I get my prenatal multis on Amazon, as well as additional folate tabs and my DHA/EPA.


All three can be taken together and on an empty stomach. The multi is 3 times a day, folate and DHA once a day. They haven't made me nauseous or burped, although I do take the DHA with lunch, so that could be why. I WILL say the multis have a grassy/earthy smell to them, but I really like that the ingredients are natural and none of the synthetic stuff you usually find. If you haven’t tried this already, I strongly suggest making cannacaps! They’re super quick and easy to make once you already have your infusion. First, warm it up a tiny bit (just enough to melt it), then take a small syringe and fill up some empty pill capsules. Seal those babies up and prepare for liftoff :)

If you’re vegan/vegetarian, they make vegetable-based capsules. Also, if size 00 capsules are too large for you to comfortably swallow, or if you want larger capsules so you don’t have to take as many, you can buy size 0 or 000 capsules (0 being the smallest) instead.

They’re super convenient! For each batch you make, start by taking one to determine how strong they are. I pulse my ABV through a coffee grinder before infusing it and skip the straining step to maximize efficacy, since taste isn’t an issue.

Not that these can cure it, but they may help symptoms till you can get a game plan or find a good doctor to help. Hopefully adding good bacteria with probiotics can take up more real estate then the bad guys and feeding the good bacteria with a prebiotic soluble fiber like psyllium husk can help them thrive. Cutting out the sugar should hinder the bad bacteria food source. Just something to try for cheap till you can figure some fix out.

I'm Lactose intolerant, as well as having issues with FODMAPs (short chained carbohydrates), which I think is very similar to what you have. I also have lots of allergies, including oral allergy syndrome and can't have uncooked greens of any time, plus lots of other foods that have fiber. I'm now on the Keto diet and loving it! I'm good with almost all the foods, and finding out a lot more about lactose intolerance. For example, harder cheeses and higher fat milk products like heavy cream, have very little if any lactose in them and I can eat them. Holy crap I feel the same exact way as you. I didn't start opening up about whats going on until about 2 years ago and that has seemed to help everyone understand what is going on with me. I also haven't been diagnosed with anything and haven't taken medications. Idon't have a very high stress job, but even going to work every day has been a challenge and I find myself wanting to escape by noon. However, I know I can't leave so I force my self to stay at least another hour, see how I feel, then stay another hour, ect. I just take things slowly when I go through times of high anxiety

I was a very shy little kid and I'm pretty sure I had social anxiety, but my parents never did anything about it. I've been dealing with panic/anxiety attacks for about 5 years now on and off. I Had my first one during class in college and every time I looked back on that day it just made things worse.

What I have found that helps is going to see a therapist. Shes made me realize that I am normal and that doing normal life things is not going to kill me. I do think it has a lot to do with self-confidence, which is also something I have lacked all my life.

I guess for me its just convincing myself that everything will be ok. Whats in the past is in the past and there is no reason to dwell on it. I like to say the phrase "this too shall pass". I still have days where everything seems scary to me and all I want to do is retreat back home.

Absolutely. I work a M-F 8-5 type job in IT, so I typically get up around the same time and stick to a decent morning routine and schedule in the first place. Having a good routine and preparation mindset is key for ADHD control. I take my Vyvanse shortly after I'm up and out of the shower, since it needs time to kick in and doesn't need to be taken with food. I take the stack 2x a day: with breakfast and coffee in the AM (and then second multivitamin and ALCAR with lunch) and then the rest without food or maybe a light snack at bed time.
Here's how I break down the stack:

  • B vitamin sources (I get mine per multivitamin): Solgar VM-75 2x daily (taken at breakfast and lunch)

Most lactose intolerant people were not initially lactose intolerant. What we were taught in medical school was that nearly all babies are able to process lactose, but they lose the ability as they grow older, because they should be weaned off breast milk.


I suspect I am lactose intolerant. My symptoms, however, are mild - only gas, but not diarrhea. I would highly recommend buying some lactase enzyme and trying it out when you eat. If your symptoms resolve, you might be lactose intolerant!


You can definitely buy enzymes for very cheap. You do not need to buy brand names like lactaid. They can be very expensive from a pharmacy - last I checked, they were about 30-50 cents per pill from my nearby pharmacies.


I buy Costco brand (Kirkland Signature) from amazon, which costs about 12 cents per pill. Lactaid from amazon ends up costing 20 cents per pill, but the total cost is less because they're selling you fewer tablets. So in this case it may be the better option if you aren't yet sure that you are lactose intolerant.


I am not sure why you suspect you are lactose intolerant, but if you do not want to try the enzyme route, you could also go to the store and buy lactaid milk. Around here, a quart of brand name (Lactaid) milk is around $5.50, but they have America's Choice brand for $2.99 a quart. You can buy that, drink some, and see how you feel compared to when you drink regular milk.


Note - there's limited amount of enzyme in a pill, so if you do experiment with the pill, don't go overboard! (Don't eat a whole carton of ice cream and expect 1 pill to be able to help you handle it all). Follow the directions - you may have to eat more than one pill depending on the portion of dairy you eat.

Just want to reiterate the lactase pill suggestion — they're my lifeline. I'm 24 and have been lactarded (just saw that here, and I love it) for like 8 years, or at least have been conscious of it, and I can relate a lot to your concerns: being a poor college student, drinking half a gallon on milk a day + tons of cheese, ice cream, etc. Dairy is fucking delicious.

The doctors that suggested lactose intolerance actually thought I may have overwhelmed my body's lactase-producing mechanisms, and it just gave up. I had to cut back on my dairy intake, but I get some of these which come in little tear-open individual packets. I keep a couple of them in a credit card slot in my wallet, as they're not very big, and one of those will ensure I'm fine eating/drinking as much dairy as I want in about a 15-25 minute window. Otherwise, I may get some baaaad gas, severe stomach pain, or defecate in large quantities and/or frequencies in a manner which typically makes me want to take a shower and a nap afterwards.

tl;dr: keep store brand lactase pills in your wallet — cheaper than name brand and very useful. Also, activia yogurt and lactose-free milk are harmless, and a slice of cheese here or there won't kill you or those around you.

I have a cat with IBD, and he has problems with chronic diarrhea/colitis symptoms.

I give him two dietary supplements. One is human grade, one is pet-grade.

Pet grade: Honest Kitchen Perfect Form. This is mainly a fiber supplement, but it also contains slippery elm bark, which works as a lubricant in the digestive tract, which reduces irritation and inflammation. I dose according to the instructions on the can. A $14 can lasted me a full year with daily use.

The human grade: Jarrow S. Boulardii. This is not a pro-biotic, but is a dietary yeast. The whole idea behind this is that your cats gut may not have a proper amount of good gut bacteria. The dietary yeast creates an explosion in good gut bacteria, which reduces inflammation.

I dose this at a near-human dose of 1 pill per day (and they are horse pills even for people), so a $40 bottle lasts 6 months. This is more than you would typically use on a pet---you'd only be using about half a pill. Problem with this stuff is that the MOS is bitter, so most cats won't eat it, you have to pill it. (Some cats are weird, like mine. He'll eat it.) Ideally, you'd buy a $10 bag of size 3 gelatin capsules and re-capsule it. The cat should get 1-2 per day. Warning: it WILL make your cat gassy and give them tummy rumbles until their body adjusts.

For this product, there is also a stop-diarrhea protocol which essentially calls for giving them a dose of this stuff every 4 hours for 24 hours, then dosing 2x/day, until the cat is stable enough to go to once a day.. I did do it after my cat had a particularly bad setback, and it worked.

I have been able to back off the use of these two products in recent weeks. My cat is currently stable using medication and prescription food, so I have been able to reduce the supplements. Ideally, I'd want to wean him off the steroids, but the supplements aren't miracle workers.

I have also tried Nexabiotic, but found that it was not strong enough to do any good for my cat.

The only vet-grade probiotic my vet stocks is Forti-Flora, and it simply didn't work. I found these supplements through a feline IBD support group. My vet had never heard of their use before, but since the ingredients couldn't hurt, she was all for trying them.

If you haven't read this already, you'll find it interesting. Basically the punchline is that if you're glycogen depleted to a significant extent, the majority of the glucose in your system will go toward glycogen replenishment. You can use that to your advantage to time carb intake. I'm not sure that there will be a major difference between glycogen stored and increased serum glucose.

My guess is you could stand to eat a few carbs and not cycle in and out of ketosis, as long as you're getting enough cardio in on top of your other workouts. I've been doing Keto for about three months now, and I'm a climber. I was really interested at in how keto would affect my climbing performance since climbing relies heavily on the phosphogen and the glycolytic systems. Initially my performance did suffer during adaptation. Once I was fat adapted I haven't noticed much of an impact on my climbing ability. I'd be willing to bet that with a little bit more training you'll be able to crank out 50 PU again after your muscles adapt to using more ketones.

As for fuel, I highly recommend the C8 oil that is on the market now. This stuff is the most ketogenic component of MCT oil. I've used this stuff and I feel great when working out. Careful though, it'll lubricate your guts even more than MCT. I take mine in bulletproof coffee, half butter, half C8 and about a tbsp of powdered lecithin.

Try giving these a shot once. I use to to be the same way with taking a lot of pills. I take 1 of these before i have dairy and im good to go for quite a bit. I can eat a whole pint of ice cream or a large pizza on just 1 pill. You sometimes might have to take 2 depending on how much dairy but its pretty easy to judge and obviously varies for everyone. I found these about 6 years ago and they have been very consistent. You can find them cheaper in most local stores rather than amazon.

That's great. Glad the prebiotics are helping you. I looked into probiotics and used them as well, and for some reason, Saccharomyces Boulardii seems to be different than the rest. Kind of like the Michael Jordan of strains. Also, I noticed that it's not usually included in most multiple probiotics. The reason I brought it up to you is because I see lots of people with SIBO saying, it's gone!!! and if you see anyone talking about stomach upset, it's usually ones that contain MOS giving upset. This is MOS and if you look at the 3rd paragraph you'll see it stated there.

The benefits far outweigh the downsides. The ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids for the average person is roughly 15-to-1. Lower ratios are linked to many health benefits [Simopoulos].

That said if you're going to supplement (rather than just eat more fish), do your research and buy a quality brand. Check EPA and DHA content to make sure you're not buying something that's mostly filler. Also, if you're worried about side effects—and possibly absorption rate—find a brand in natural triglyceride form rather than synthetic ethyl esters. NurtaSea and Nordic Naturals are two good options. For the most part, you get what you pay for. Good brands generally aren't cheap.

I think your teeth are fine! Like other said, there's always Invisalign to straighten them.

For whitening, I like to use natural stuff like Activated Charcoal. You break open the pills onto a small dish, wet your toothbrush, brush for about 2-3 minutes. There's really not much of a taste and you get to look like a crazy person with black stuff in your mouth. Rinse and repeat once a week. Whitens little by little over time.

Here's the recipe for re-mineralizing tooth powder:

1.) Use a plastic Tupperware container, don't use anything metal to stir or store the powder (bentonite clay can pull things from metal). Square and shallow seems to work best.

2.) 1/4 - 1/2 cup of Bentonite Clay (depending on the size of your container), this is the brand I use.

3.) Brush. I find it works better for me to spread the tooth powder around on my teeth before turning on my electric brush. Again the charcoal can stain grout, towels, etc. so be careful!

If you don't like or have coconut oil you can always just dip a damp toothbrush in the powder and brush with just that!

As for whitening my husband and I both saw a lot of improvement. He's an ex-smoker and it got rid of the tobacco stains on his front teeth after a month or so of twice daily use but YMMV.

I was just talking to my roommate about what we are planning to do with our AVB. We decided to use these and makes some caps to take before going out. Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any advice regarding multi vitamins for a 35 year old male, runs every other day, upper body workouts on run days, lower body on off, 6 days a week? Currently I'm taking a multi vitamin that I purchased from GNC by ORB Wellness that also has fish oil in it and is also supposed to be extended release.

5htp supplements you can buy a 30ct bottle for like $8 at walmart. honestly those help me alot, really helps with the cloudliness and just overall mood. its really hard to consistently making critical decisions game to game without something giving out later on in the day. drink water, avoid caffeine and nicotine if possible. get out of the arena from time to time. sometimes i get a bit anxious if im inside the whole time for a tournament. good luck.

Adderall XR can be removed from the capsule! Keep it tilted vertically to avoid spillage, and slowly squeeze/pull the top portion of the capsule off. You can do it over a bowl or plate just to be safe.

Then you can either take the beads by sprinkling them onto something like applesauce (or anything else, really). Or, you can pour the contents of each into empty veggie capsules, like these.

Right now i'm taking align because my doctor recommended it - I have been on it for about 3-4 weeks now and I haven't really seen much improvements. I was taking some other probiotic before that for a month but didn't see too much improvement either.

Falanor, I'm in the same boat as you. I found out I was lactose intolerant about 11 years ago, but I couldn't even eat cheese or yogurt. My friends used to say I was more like "lactose xenophobic". Anyway, I found these pills some years back, and they let me tolerate some cheese and some yogurt. You might give them a try.

I usually redose 2 or 3 times throughout the night. We normally end up residing a couple times throughout the evening. 8pm, 11:30, 3:00am. Ready to come down when the sun starts coming up. Granted, we aren't usually at a rave or dance party but at a private residence with close friends. We drink a large amount of water, but you'll want to drink even more if you are dancing all night.

Hey, I'm extremely lactose intolerant so feel free to ask me any questions. Having a stomach ache within 20 minutes of diarrhea seems pretty reasonable. And typically if your diarrhea is extremely watery and runny its typically from the milk. I think as soon as your body realizes it can't digest the lactose it begins to just dump it from your system.

If you want some good solutions, I've been taking these pills for a year now and they work great, you can take 1 every other day and you don't need to worry about dairy

You need at least 500mg of EPA and 250mg of DHA daily. It can do wonders, reduce cellular inflammation, boost your immune system, Testosterone levels, etc.

According to Lyle McD's RFLD e-book, he says:
"Recent research has found that the body will saturate tissue
levels of the EPA and DHA at an intake of roughly 1.8 grams EPA and 1.2 grams of DHA."

Most cheap products don't have a good amount of EPA-DHA in it! Also, most brands have unwanted levels of heavy metals! The best ones are filtered and more expansive. You should shop carefully.

Have you tried any supplements?

I’m about 3 weeks into carnivore and week 2 was absolute hell on my stomach.

I did some research and added the following supplements and I’m back to all good. They aid with animal fat digestion. I added the iron because I feel it helps with PMS emotional symptoms.

I also did a 24 Hour fast with just bone broth, which helped too - a reset kind of. And 1 Metamucil tablet a day for 3-4 days.

I can't promise this will help, but I had an awful yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis (I didn't ever go to the doctor) that lasted months! I was trying everything: garlic, apple cider vinegar, greek yogurt.. you name it. I finally stumbled upon Boric Acid. That link is to some boric acid suppositories specifically marketed for BV or yeast infections, but I just ordered the boric acid powder and put them in empty 0 or 00 size gel capsules. I ordered it from amazon but they might have it at your local pharmacy. Either way, it was amazing. Seriously night and day after just two or three days of use.

I suggest putting the suppositories in at night, as they make you INSANELY wet.

Also, I'm not a doctor, but it does seem like you might have an allergy, IBS, or some kind of inflammatory bowel disorder. Maybe try a serious elimination diet and slowly add things back in?

I have tried so many supplements, probiotics, digestive enzymes and prescription medications that it's ridiculous. Lomotil helps a tad but not enough, and it's not something I want to take every day. Everyone should have active charcoal for this very reason. As soon as you eat something questionable or raw like this, pop one or two and you don't have to worry about it anymore. If you take it within 30 minutes you should be ok... After that active charcoal probably won't work. Also works on pets that eat something they shouldn't. So take some random internet strangers advice and add it to your next Amazon purchase.

First off, you are adorable.

I am very much a planner, so I plan, overplan, and plan some more. I've been eating healthfully, working out, keeping up my skincare routine. Making lists of what I need to bring in general, then making more lists of what I need to buy, and where to buy it, what I already have. Planning outfits for all weather conditions. A few days before the festival I'll check the weather and finalize the outfits, so I can just put them on without worrying about what I look like (not bringing a mirror).

If you couldn't tell already, I'm a little extra, so I'll be getting my nailzzzz did beforehand. I also get a spray tan (don't judge - it gives me confidence to wear less clothing and less makeup, without the risk of skin cancer). Beforehand I shave everything needed to shave, exfoliate, pluck eyebrows, do a facemask. On the morning of travel, I take my last shower and blowout my hair (as girly as I seem, there's a good chance I don't take a real shower at the festival, lol).

I'll also start taking 5htp a few days before. I ordered this, it got great reviews.

I usually do this before every vacation, but I clean my whole apartment. There's nothing better to come back to when you are dead tired and have been sleeping outside for a week. Seriously.

Not my first festival but my first hula!!! Can't wait to get weird with you beautiful people.

Yeah, I didn't know pills existed for a while either. At my local publix, I found Lactase pills next to the upset stomach/diarrhea medicine. It should be in the medicine area, around stuff like pepto bismol and immodium.

I just went through this! That stuff turned into SLUDGE.

I know you’re already done, but for those that run into this in the future, here’s what I did:

I went out and bought empty capsules, measured out 5 mg (my recommended daily dose), scooped them into the pills, and took them with my antibiotics dose.

Based on the size of the pills I bought, 5mg fit into 5-6 pills total (depending on how packed they were), so I could take 2 pills 3x a day with my 3x a day antibiotics.

Also, I noticed one of them came out whole in a BM, so from then on I made sure not to close the cap too tight. That seemed to do the trick.

These aren’t the exact brand I got at the store, but same size.

I used Osmocote Plus and these gel caps. I bought 2lbs of osmocote and used barely a third of it to fill 500 gel caps. And from what I can tell, my plants are doing pretty well with them. May I suggest a probiotic for your lactose intolerance. It's something you take daily, but I find it works much better than taking lactase with each dairy consumption. Plus, I find it to be much cheaper if you're planning on having dairy daily anyway. I will warn you though, that you should wait 3 or 4 days after starting before consuming dairy and those first few days were filled with bloating and gas (though not as bad as eating dairy without anything).

Activated Charcoal - Take one of these capsules apart and make a paste. Apply it to the bite and let it dry. I do it right before jumping in the shower because this stuff gets everywhere, but it works really good.

I use Whey Protein Isolate (any brand should work, check the ingredients) which doesn't have lactase and has never caused me issues as a lactose intolerant gal.

Also, if you are lactose intolerant and haven't tried using lactase pills, you really should. I had to stop eating cheese/ice cream/milk products when I became lactose intolerant, but then I discovered these pills and now I just pop one and get to enjoy these foods again.

This might interest you - I add this green powder to my smoothies. You could probably take a smoothie recipe you already like, add a scoop of this and not even notice. It also tastes good mixed with Naked Juice (the green kind), but that stuff is high in sugar and calories.

Yes. When I do I use 100 mg of 5 HTP when this happens. I would try this before any sleep medication. As I'll crib from the Wiki, it's a naturally occurring amino acid and chemical precursor as well as a metabolic intermediate to serotonin and melatonin from tryptophan. Basically it will cause your body to develop serotonin and melatonin, which will slow your mind down and make you be able to fall asleep.

I'd take the fish oil as well. This looks like it doesn't have any EPA and only 50mg of DHA, which is fairly low.

You may also want to upgrade your fish oil, if it doesn't have a great EPA/DHA ratio. Nordic naturals makes a good product.

Look into Ancestral Supplements Grass Fed Beef Liver. You're basically getting all the benefits of eating liver without actually eating liver. You may still have to cut out coffee, but I've seen a major difference. I don't generally succumb to the placebo effect. The reviews sucked me in (I've never been a vitamin\supplement taker) and I have to agree with them. It's been about two months.

I take the Bone Marrow as well and good god, I have more range of motion and less joint pain that at any time in life. I tend to be really seized up. Even chiropractors can't or have an extremely difficult time popping my joints. A week of this and I was popping all over, including my lower back where I have the most problems. The popping settled down and now I just have what feels like incredible range of motion for me.

If you do try them I would love to know if your iron levels actually go up, assuming you get it tested on a semi-regular basis.

The packaging is different than what I have, but it's likely they've just changed it since I purchased the stuff. I put it in these capsules. You don't have to use vegetarian capsules, I just don't like the idea of having gelatin in my aquariums. If you fill the capsule, you should be able to get away with one near each amazon sword, and then spaced out about 6-8 inches apart. Closer if you have lots of heavy root feeders.

As for the last part of your question, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking if it effects the PH? I haven't had any issues with it effecting any water conditions at all. Be aware though if too much of this stuff is exposed to the water, you may have algae issues arise. Be sure to put it deep enough to not pop back up!

I've always been a little iffy when it came to lactose products, so when I started Keto Chow with heavy cream I was taking Digestive Advantage Lactose Defense just in case. Turns out it wasn't necessary. Cheeses and other ket-friendly dairy products are pretty low in lactose anyways. I really think all the carbs in my old diet was the root cause of my digestive issues and probably had little to do with lactose.

Consider the following an extremely half-assed DIY self-experiment -- complete with a lack of follow-up testing right now -- but I had some strange "low-normal" iron levels in my bloodwork late last year, including ferritin. I wasn't wild about the bio-availability debate with supplements, so I decided to take a "food forward" approach with it and deliberately up iron-rich foods (like cooking spinach-beef meatballs in tomato sauce in a cast iron pan, haha - or less extreme, making breakfast cookies with oats and a lot of blackstrap molasses).

I've been supplementing with beef liver pills the last 4-5 months and anecdotally, they seem slightly helpful. At some point I'll recheck bloodwork. I like this approach, though, because it provides a spectrum of nutrients and I don't have to feel bad about not eating liver more frequently now.

As a fairly recent probiotic convert, I think they're a major facet of health that people neglect.

iLLyNoiZe has a solid bit of info. I'd also recommend reading the strains within certain probiotics. The approach here is that you can find what in particular you need. Specific strains have specific things they target, and getting a feel for these can help you troubleshoot any problems (or possibly narrow things down if you need to switch brands for any reason). This is more of a longer-term recommendation, of course! Good to make note of stuff that works, I figure.
