So basically it's a cheap way to cram everything into a small space and still have it usable.

The JDXI is sitting on 2 IKEA Laptop stands which get it up enough to put either the beatstep in front or my launchkey49 if I need that. Only downside is it puts it at a little too steep on an angle for my liking and with the mixer that's there it's too close to the headphone jack so some knobs are not optimally placed. (currently using my old belkin iPod recording dock as a mixer since I packed my actual mixer away during the last move and can't find it for the life of me.)

I made the Volca stand from some scrap wood I had after making my drum kit riser. It's not expert carpentry by any means but it works.

The keystep is tucked away on a pullout computer keyboard tray I got off Amazon.

The mixer and mininova are on a clamp on multi-tier laptop stand I also got off Amazon.

I can also thank Amazon for the cheapo "monitors" and headphones which actually have great sound quality for being under $200 altogether. For what I need in this temporary apartment, they get the job done.

Also notice most of it isn't plugged in, as the baby finds cluttered cables irresistible and rips everything off the desk. (Hence the now permanent "baby jail" surrounding my entire setup.) More for her safety than anything since she likes to use the drums as a jungle gym and has whacked her head on it without learning it is solid and unforgiving.

Hope this is what you were looking for!

Ikea markus, and dxracer chairs are pretty good. I personally have a dxracer chair, they're pretty good and comfy, orange to be exact haha. You can't go wrong with either. You could even look for used chairs such as steelcase or herman miller on ebay, craigslist and the like. I'd recommend getting this for the arms of the chair, they're very comfortable and worth the price. If you have any questions let me know I'm glad to help!

u/CynosureEPR · 38 pointsr/battlestations

Amazon, now!

Rubber roller skate chair wheels. Rubber chair wheels. Roller skate chair wheels. Something like that..you want the ones that look like wheels that would go on inline skates. Edit: here is a link for the sets we recently purchased for our meeting space: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N2T1IBU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_L5OQzbKVDN1T1 (on mobile so go easy on me).

Cheaper than a mat (bought my first set for my office around $35 but later bought some sets for the office meeting space for around $19 and they were almost identical to the expensive set).

You can thank me later.. it's so much better than a heavy, ugly mat; you can literally fly around your house on them and they are smooth as a baby's bottom.

Most of them are see-thru but some companies make tinted variations for users with a theme. The default see-thru ones look great on black or silver metal chairs against hardwood floors and go great with my black/grey/silver/rbg setup.

Edit edit: had some questions, no they don't look goofy at all. They look like they would look funny, but they're surprisingly sleek and professional looking when attached to the chair. They do increase the height of your chair a bit compared to normal casters; you can purchase smaller sized ones but their reviews aren't as good for stability/durability/etc. so I'd stick with the height that is most mass produced

Thank you for the giveaway, lots of good games here!

I am interested in Mafia 2! I've played the demo over and over again for hours, but I have always wanted to play the full game.

I keep comfortable in my long gaming sessions using a way that might help you too. I have back problems, so I bought a seat cushion designed for that, and I place it on top of my gaming chair- That usually helps!

Thanks again for the chance~

The neighborhood watch is a really good idea. If ur able to talk with the people that live directly by you, next door, across the hall, and let them know what has happened, possibly exchange numbers so you have people right by you to call if u get spooked. Maybe some can even step outside their apartment when you get home from work and wait till you get inside.

Also there are many different products like this doorjam hopefully I did the link correctly 1st time I’ve done one but that might help you feel little more secure. This is just an example I haven’t researched them so don’t know which ones are most effective.

Weird situation. I would think if people wanted to break in or do something else they wouldn’t draw so much attention to themselves beforehand but who knows. Glad your husband got some time off to stay with you. Sorry u have to deal with this idiot. I hope it stops and things get better for you guys, be safe.

I just looked for sales on Amazon. The problem is that prices can vary a lot (and spending a lot doesn't mean you get a great chair).

I bought this one in 2017, but I spent only $120 on it, not the $220 it is now. I love it, but wouldn't have spent twice as much on it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EUU5G82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you happen to live near an office supply place (if retail still exists), they usually have floor models you can try out. Otherwise, I just watch Amazon for sales (again obviously prices really vary) and look for something that looks good. Ordering online unfortunately involves taking a little leap of faith as you can't try it out.

It doesn't hurt to throw in a little support for the backside as well. I cracked a tailbone when I was younger (a real pain in the a**!) so one of these are cheap and really make those longer sessions more comfortable.

You're gonna get into a gaming chair vs buy a used herman miller / other brand expensive office chair debate in this thread.

For a straight up gaming chair, I have a SecretLabs Omega gaming chair, and I really like it. It was about $300, is nicer than some of the cheaper chairs, and the bolsters aren't too crazy so you can sit in it like a human, it's not like a 'racing' chair like some of the gaming chairs. I recommend it. I am a 5'10 male about 200 lbs.

I would make sure whatever you get has at least these options:

  1. Adjustable lean for the whole chair, so the butt and back move together

  2. Separate, adjustable back, like a car seat, where you can also just adjust the back

  3. Arm wrests that can be at least adjusted up and down (the Omega can adjust up down, left-right, and forward-back)

  4. Make sure the piston is rated for your weight, example if you weigh 200 lbs, look for a chair rated like 225 lbs or more to be safe. Otherwise the piston may die after a few years.

I also use one of these on the chair, helps the tailbone out.

u/Franck_Dernoncourt · 1 pointr/speechrecognition

As far as I know Dragon NaturallySpeaking (now renamed Dragon Professional Individual since version 15) is significantly more accurate than Kaldi, but I have never investigated Kaldi thoroughly: it isn't plug-and-play.

I personally use Dragon NaturallySpeaking and have defined a bunch of simple voice commands. When coding, I use a mixture of voice commands and typing. The best source of information on Dragon that I am aware of is http://knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/index.cfm? I haven't taken the time yet to explore Dragon NaturallySpeaking's extension Vocola and Natlink: they may make defining voice commands more efficient and powerful.

It's a shame that Baidu/Google/Microsoft, who all the claim to match human performances for speech recognition, do not have any decent speech recognition program to use on a computer (a speech rotation program that could be used anywhere in the OS, and not just in the browser or in some specific applications).

I'm so sorry! I've been dealing with this for about half my pregnancy too. First thing that helped me, was a Coccyx Cushion: https://www.amazon.com/ComfiLife-Coccyx-Orthopedic-Cushion-Sciatica/dp/B010TLSFA6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478044291&sr=8-2&keywords=coccyx+cushion. It helps a lot. I also started physical therapy and acupuncture and I've found them both to be immensely helpful. While I felt the most relief from a heating pad, my physical therapist told me that icing the area is better because the sciatica is caused by inflammation. Good luck!

Stock casters but have looked into these Office Chair Caster Wheels (Set of 5) - Heavy Duty & Safe for All Floors Including Hardwood - Perfect Replacement for Desk Floor Mat - Rollerblade Style w/Universal Fit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CTIG4GE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_g3JnDb2EY27T3

Like I said though, have never had a problem

u/splatterhead · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I'm not a big guy, and they're kinda expensive, but I got a HERCULES Series 500 lb. Capacity Big & Tall Black Fabric Executive Swivel Office Chair with a set of caster wheels and it's the best chair I've ever had. Super comfy and easy to roll around.

u/xScorchx · 2 pointsr/tall

I bought this

SONGMICS Ergonomic Lumbar Support Office Chair High Back Adjustable Swivel Mesh Chair Black UOBN89BK https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0763M1N8D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ZyRcBbEBRK0GZ

I'm 6'5" and fat and this chair is a dream imo. I also got some kickass wheels

Office Chair Caster Wheels (Set of 5) - Heavy Duty & Safe for All Floors Including Hardwood - Perfect Replacement for Desk Floor Mat - Rollerblade Style w/Universal Fit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CTIG4GE?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

But these are optional, I just love the feel of these wheels.

u/DRHPSL05 · 1 pointr/short

I have a plastic bin under my desk that I rest my feet on most of the time, but I like my feet up high. My feet dangle too (like you mentioned - I have to keep my chair high enough that I can comfortably use the keyboard and mouse). You can find step stools of different sizes at HomeGoods, Marshalls, etc, or Walmart/Target. It doesn't have to be something fancy and expensive. This cushion looks comfy.

Good luck! I know it's a pain. It's something I don't even think about anymore b/c I've had the same set-up for so long, but it was really tough when I was pregnant to find a comfortable solution.

Here's the footrest. The memory foam feels amazing, especially during long sessions. You can also adjust the angle of the footrest very easily to get that perfect fit. Definitely would recommend it.

I hear really good things about this one

http://www.staples.ca/en/Staples-Hyken-Technical-Mesh-Task-Chair-Black/product_990119_1-CA_1_20001

AND it's on sale RIGHT NOW! But do your own research first.

http://www.staples.ca/en/Staples-Bilford-Manager-s-Chair-Black/product_388248_1-CA_1_20001

The above is the one I own. I got it on sale for about $150 as well.

Mine can tilt the seat / back together simultaneously, or I can tilt the back separately as a recliner. This feature was very important for me when I went to purchase. It's better for comfort if you ask me.

I use it for gaming often. But I bought a foam seat cushion as well. I'll probably upgrade to one of those coccyx cushions in the future.

https://www.amazon.com/Coccyx-Orthopedic-Memory-Foam-Cushion/dp/B00V2L5JRA/ref=pd_sbs_201_2?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=VB3NA457G25N4RSBKT8J&th=1

If you talk to Staples staff they can usually tell you if an item is planning to go on sale within 2 weeks / 1 month timeframe. So buy with confidence and price-match.

u/ChaoticReddit · 1 pointr/battlestations

I have a dxracer too but you should buy spongy arm rests, they seriously make the chair that much more comfortable, here is a link in case you want to buy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001E2N1NG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I highly recommend it! Also awesome set up!

May I recommend these wheels if you want to get rid of your mat. They're pretty great.

I am not sure if you are traveling in a single location or multiple areas for your work, but either way I would scout the area and locate various points of interest. Police, medical, fire, grocery/supply stores. Also educate yourself about possible natural risks such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornados and flesh out a plan for what you would do in such an event. See if the hotel has a evacuation plan for emergencies and review it.

Do you have a door wedge security device for your hotel, it will increase your safety in the room and help prevent intrusion. Something like this

u/worldasmyth · 1 pointr/pics

You may have tried this already, but I now carry one of these with me on every flight over 3 hours and my tailbone has never been happier: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EBDV9BU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sure, you look like you're carrying a private toilet seat everywhere you go, but whatever, your butt is supremely comfortable.

u/joelamosobadiah · 1 pointr/Workspaces

Not an answer to your question exactly, but have you considered upgrading your casters instead? I'm not sure if it's truly better over multiple years at protecting your carpets over a mat, but I've LOVED having them on my office chair and can't see any visible wear on the carpets.

u/Free_Dome_Lover · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Get a regular chair of your choosing, whether you want a fancy task chair like a herman miller, steel series or a "gamer" chair is up to you. I really enjoy my AK Racing Obsidian series, it's quite ergonomic and comfortable.

Then grab some really good casters with breaks. Something like this with rollerblade style wheels https://www.amazon.com/SunnieDog-Office-Chair-Caster-Wheels/dp/B01CGZPOK2 .

u/taffylimbs · 2 pointsr/ChronicPain

I am a female pelvic pain patient w PFD (and recently excised endometriosis) so it might not be exactly the same, but I found great relief while sitting by using a foam cushion with the tail bone piece removed.

I couldn't find the exact one I bought but here's one that's the same kind of design. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V2L5JRA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_btfbBbDVQ2XZW

Hope this helps!!

u/B2TheLunt · 3 pointsr/battlestations

I post this for everyone I see a chair with those wheels...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CGZPOK2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These are the ones I purchased. I see that they've increased in price quite a bit. I'm sure you can find similar on amazon for less or just opt for these as the company offers "Lifetime Warranty".

Also...possibly a mouse pad for both of you? Or how about a full desk pad.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CPX9RCQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is what I use (I use the 36x18) I would opt for 2 of the 36x12 "Pro Heavy" ones.

Hope these 2 suggestions improve your area and comfort!

u/robotninja0 · 1 pointr/dxracer

The ones I got were actually a little more expensive:
https://www.amazon.com/Office-Chair-Caster-Wheels-Replacement/dp/B01CTIG4GE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486506089&sr=8-1&keywords=the+office+oasis+caster+wheels

I opted to buy these because of the high number of reviews with good ratings. I figured I already spent $300 on a chair, might as well get a good set of wheels for them. Although the ones you linked above looks pretty good too.

u/RFishy · 6 pointsr/ehlersdanlos

It's no miracle cure, but it helps me a TON more than any other ergonomic devices I've tried at work. Got one for my parents and they also LOVE it.
https://www.amazon.com/Everlasting-Comfort-Orthopedic-Sciatica-Tailbone/dp/B01EBDV9BU

u/Betrayus · 11 pointsr/buildapcsales

For those of you that don't want to fork out $$ for a new chair, I got this seat and back cushion on amazon and its awesome, made it feel like a brand new chair, gives great support, and it has held up for over a year now without issue. I got it on sale for like $25 but im sure there are other brands that are cheaper (it's currently $37) and just as good! My only gripe with it is that the straps that hold the back cushion up don't tighten enough and it slides down and needs quite a lot of adjusting every time I stand up or move pressure off of it.

u/anna2775 · 2 pointsr/sewing

I put roller blade wheels on my chair. Glides super smooth and less thread gets stuck in them. Might work on your dress form if they are standard wheels.

Here is a photo

I purchased them on amazon.

Congratulations!

I have found that office chair pillows really save my back. If you don’t already have one, you could celebrate your new job by getting a comfortable cushion suited to you. I just linked the first on Amazon, but I think it’s a good idea to get something that will keep you from having pain from sitting in the same place a long time. Makes the whole day easier.

u/Reverent · 8 pointsr/BuyItForLife

This is from an earlier reply I've made.

picture of the door (also yes, the color is ugly, but I'll repaint it at some point).

You can do what I do.

Door Table! All you do is buy a door, buy some adjustable legs, a screw-in keyboard tray if you feel like it, and screw those motherfuckers together!

Advantages

  • It's a stable table. You got a solid core wood door. None of that hollow core cheap shit. I can stand on mine if I want (and I am a pretty goddamn big guy).

  • You can make it whatever height or size you want. Want it to be half the size? They can and will cut it down to size for you at the hardware store. Want it to be twice as high? Adjust those legs whatever size you want! That's why they're adjustable!

  • Dirt fucking simple to make. Some hardware stores might even do the work for you in the store. All you have to do is predrill the screw holes and screw the legs in. That is really it is to it. Took me about two hours on mine, and I don't do any kind of handyman work.

  • It's a massive table (if you don't cut it down). It's more of a work bench then a table. If you look at the picture, I have room for my dual screen monitor setup with room to spare. If I need to work on a separate project, I just glide to the left on my office chair.

  • It's modular. Need to move it? Unscrew the legs from the mounting bracket, you're done! Need drawers, just buy some ones on wheels you can slide under it. Need a keyboard bracket, just buy one and screw it. Want cable management? It's just wood! Drill a hole!

    Parts

    Door

Door - $66. Note that this one does not have a finish coat, the one I bought did (it's pretty easy to paint, or find one that has a basic weather coat). Can't see anything in america (my one was made in australia).

edit: same door with white primer

Obviously, you'd have to pay for the entire door even if you do cut it down. That being said, it already has a finish coat, and for the quality of the wood (and the fact it is already in a table shape) it is worth the $66.

Ikea GERTON adjustable leg * 4 - $25 each, for $100. Amazon also has a heap of legs, but your mileage may vary (example)

if you are going to cut it down to half the size (or less) you can use these half-diameter legs and save some space/money:
    http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30264301/

    accessories

And that's about it! You can add a fifth leg if you want the extra support, but you don't need it. All that is left is a keyboard tray, like this.

Once you're all said in done, for a couple hours of work, you will have an extremely sturdy and customizable desk. It's also hell of a lot cheaper to do then to buy a premade desk.
u/bohlingc · 1 pointr/buildapc

Anybody have a recommendation for a keyboard tray? As mentioned in an earlier post, I am moving my PC to the living room and will be sitting on the couch not just for gaming but also productivity tasks, so I need a keyboard/mouse tray. This is the one I was thinking of getting

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E031L88?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_3&smid=A321BOKZ8A2EVN

But I'd be willing to entertain other ideas if someone has a better one. Needs to fit a decent amount of mouse space and a keyboard with 10-key.

Couple bits...

First, love the fact you've got 4U accommodation in there... SOMEONE is thinking ahead!

Before you get it TOO loaded down, take a look at those wheels... If those are hard plastic, you're going to scratch the fuck out of your floor if you ever go to move it. Rollerblade style casters are much friendlier in that regard...

You also might want to pull it away from the wall some... It's kind of amazing how much hot air those bastages can produce. Definitely want them to be able to breathe, otherwise the fans will just spin faster, making them even louder.

u/Komm · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

These are the ones I actually have, as far as I can tell they are all the same though. I just went with the ones I linked because the company is super helpful about stuff. Like I said though, far as I can tell, they are all the same caster.

Come to think of it, I need to order another pair. I've acquired yet another desk and chair, this time in the garage. Plastic casters ain't gonna hold up very long out there from experience.

Get the Roller Blade wheels to replace the cheap wheels most chairs come with... makes a big difference in my opinion.

You'd be better off staying in your dorm than venturing out in almost every situation. If I were you I'd get two or three of those collapsible 5 gallon water jugs (you can fill up form a showerhead or tub) and get at least two week's worth of dehydrated food or MREs. If you don't have a bathroom in your dorm room you should find some way to get rid of your urine/feces. A painters bucket from Home Depot with a top would do well, as long as you can dump it out your window if needed. I would stock up on baby wipes- more than you think you'd need- put those in the bucket. Get a crowbar and hammer so you can open up other rooms to forage if you need to- you can use pillow cases in the rooms to put things in. Get a can opener and a spoon. Get a baseball bat for defense- looks innocent enough on its own and won't raise hard to answer questions. Your dorm room has a solid door and you have all of your clothing and bedding there- so plan on bugging in and stay quiet. If you can afford it, get a [door jammer] (https://www.amazon.com/DoorJammer-Portable-Security-Device-Travel/dp/B00N95IVSQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1479072334&sr=1-3&keywords=door+security) to secure your door when you're in your room. Do not open your door to anyone or you risk losing what you have stocked up. Get duct tape and giant black lawn leaf bags so you can cover up windows if you have to. Have a small bag full of things to make [improvised alert system] (http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/detroit/2014/09/05/detroit-fire-department-has-alert-system-made-of-pop-cans/77199950/) for your hallways.

All in all you could do all of this for under 200-300$ and it's all stuff that you can use when you get an apartment.

You could look for something like this.

https://www.amazon.ca/SERFPAD-TV-TRAY-Portable-Keyboard/dp/B00E031L88

I am not sure how comfortable they are, but it seems like it would be useful for your situation.

Alternatively you could just use a tablet insert from an old dresser or something, just lay it on your lap and put your keyboard mouse pad+mouse on it.

If course you would need wireless mouse and keyboard unless you are very very close to your tv.

u/AstroFlyer686k · 1 pointr/xboxone

I have had this one for about 2 years: https://www.amazon.com/Rocker-Pedestal-Video-Wireless-Bluetooth/dp/B01EVOOAAG/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=

I chose a fabric model because the vinyl will peel and crack over time like on an office chair. I would highly recommend some sort of seat cushion because the chair has very little cushion in the seat. But with a seat cushion, it is very comfortable and I can sit for 4-5 hours of XBox gaming no problem.

This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I76ELYO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm sure there are newer versions of the chair available...just get a fabric one instead of vinyl. It will last longer.

I also use a desk footrest like this one. It gives some elevation and encourages me to move my feet around.

It'll force correct posture by not having a padded back to lean back on. Keep checking CL, Thrift stores, classifieds, and flea markets for deals. Make sure you google appropriate weight limits and such before making a purchase, or search the /r/BIFL forums for older posts on appropriate brands. EZ rule of thumb is if it MSRPs for 500+ and is sold to businesses directly. They're built to last.

u/Yvese · -5 pointsr/pcgaming

Honestly people. Stop buying into esport/streamer hype.

You want a comfortable chair? Keep your current one. Buy cushions that are designed to support your back/ass:

Currently using these two: For my tush and for my back. $40 turns your shitty chair into a dxracer with probably better armrests ( at least my $100 staples chair has cushioned armrests )

Don't buy into the hype. I'm sure they're nice chairs but $300? If you had that kind of money to dispose of then use it on your PC.

I just tried installing one of these last week. There just wasn't enough of a gap. I put the hinge protectors on, and the door had to be forced to close the last couple inches. With either the deadbolt or doorknob guard or the long frame plate installed, the door wouldn't even close. It's a metal door frame so I can't mortise anything. I took it all off and I just have to live with some extra-long screws.

And, it's not a great metal frame, and it's a pretty standard door. The metal frame probably helps some, but it's not heavy duty by any means.

So I'm going to just get a set of these and say FTW.

Those 3" rollerblade wheels are amazing. I'm short and as anyone short would know almost every office or gaming chair sits too low compared to normal desktop height. 5 foot 5.5 inches and I'm heavy. I don't do gaming chairs (nothing against them just never found them practical). I just do general office chairs and I look for one that rated around 50-100 lbs more then I am. I also look for chairs with a metal base since I find them more durable. As for my feet not reaching that isn't a problem for me because I use the desk foot rests because I find I am more comfortable with my feet elevated an extra 6-8 inches. I generally try to find office chairs that are rated for at least 6-8 hour a day sitting because they are built sturdier. I'm a very utilitarian type gal. I can't even tell you what my current chair is because I have no clue but I did get it from an office store since they rate their chairs by hours of usage so you know the durability before you buy. This isn't the exact foot rest brand I have but it is similar. Maybe it will help with the whole feet not meeting the ground thing. https://www.amazon.com/Under-Non-Slip-Ergonomic-Footrest-Cushion/dp/B01BRU9CDW/ref=sr_1_25?qid=1574657430&s=office-products&sr=1-25

Oh, no! Not anxiety?

Sadly, your anxiety is not a particularly relevant factor. The landlord generally has the right to do things like place lock boxes, which are a standard practice for realtors.

If it will help your anxiety, perhaps can invest in https://www.amazon.com/DoorJammer-Portable-Security-Personal-Protection/dp/B00N95IVSQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=DBZ8MUT2B9P6&keywords=door+jammer+portable+door+security+device&qid=1556402640&s=gateway&sprefix=doir+jammer&sr=8-3

This lets you secure your door from inside while you’re home, even in the face of a person armed with a key. You could then answer the door and confirm that it’s a real estate agent and not a ne’er-do-well.

But you have to let the agent in.

These are a life(wood)saver! Plus they look better than regular casters IMO.

I think I'm going to hope it will be ok but not count on it. The recovery is the pits!!

Purchased this today, hope I won't have to use it forever: amazon.com

u/JHBrwn · 1 pointr/battlestations

Just purchased two of those chairs about a month ago. About 3 grand spent, but my wife never complained about the price once she sat in hers. Also upgraded the wheels with these: https://www.amazon.com/SunnieDog-Office-Chair-Caster-Wheels/dp/B01CGZPOK2/ref=sr_1_25?keywords=office+chair+wheels&qid=1572908011&sr=8-25

I do the same thing. This helped out so much keeping my wall clean. This one if you go shoe-less when at your desk.

I bought a set of these: https://www.amazon.com/AGPTEK-Casters-Screwdriver-Replacement-Hardwood/dp/B0716XS58X

currently out of stock but there are similar alternatives available.

Works really well.

What kind of foot stool do you have? A soft one like this?

u/atVindr · 1 pointr/hoggit

I got a pair of these the best wheels I have used on an office chair in my life and they're so exceptionally non friction on my hardwood floors I know that my room has a small tilt towards the center of it.

These put a stop to that rolling in sims

u/CajunVagabond · 1 pointr/PSVR

Put these on any cheap office chair and for $35 you’ll have better ergonomics than almost any expensive gaming chair.

Do you absolutely need wheels on your office chair? I ordered some of these

mostly so my chair would stop rolling backwards when I was playing sim racers with my wheel and pedals. It just so happens now I don't have to worry about rolling over my rift cable or my dog either ;)

Amazon.

I bought these ones: https://www.amazon.ca/AGPTEK-Casters-Screwdriver-Replacement-Hardwood/dp/B0716XS58X/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=locking+rubber+castors&qid=1574470764&sr=8-7

There are others as well. Most chairs take 2.5" castors, unless it's an Ikea chair, then it's 2" castors.

u/walkingstiffy · 2 pointsr/DIY

Look into Roller Blade style caster wheels. That sweet floor will thank you.

edit: Link to a set but there are a lot of others to also choose from.

Being polite and responding to a casual greeting like 'How are you?' is FAR from an invitation for him to start aggressively hitting on you (or soliciting you for prositution), especially when you have already rejected him quite blatantly on many other occasions. Don't be afraid to be more direct with him, firmly tell him in no uncertain terms that you are not and will never be interested in him. Is there any way for you to get out of there and into a different place? If not, maybe you can talk to your landlord about having him removed? Regardless, you should invest in some kind of door lock ASAP- they are fairly easy to install yourself. This could be another good option.

u/piss_n_boots · 3 pointsr/homesecurity

If you look on amazon there are locks made to secure hotel room doors against thieves / intruders. They might be a good option.

u/submitizenkane · 5 pointsr/holdmycosmo

Could be longer than that. I slipped and fell on my tailbone a couple years ago and it still hurts sometimes. For the first 6 months or so, I had to use a pillow like this to be able to sit without too much discomfort. I literally had to take it with me everywhere. I’m young and fit, too, which made it all the more embarrassing. I’m lucky though, some people get coccyx injuries that never go away, even after surgery.

"but muh Big Picture mode! a PC can be console-like! see!?" I tried doing PC gaming on the big screen multiple times. Playing a game that requires a controller works just as well as it does on a console, but if it requires a mouse & keyboard, it becomes a nightmare. There are trays/lapboards made specifically to make it easier, but they're stupidly expensive. Seventy-fucking-dollars for what is basically a plastic board with a mousepad stitched onto it.

u/Remo_253 · 1 pointr/buildapc

As others have mentioned, used office furniture store, Goodwill, etc. Also check craigslist for folding tables like this. Attach a cheap keyboard tray and you're all set.

Get some clear urethane office chair casters. I use these on my on hardwood, no mat. They are awesome, roll smooth, and no marks. I give them a wipe down with a damp cloth once a month or so to remove any sand or grit they pick up from the floor. I also use these on heavy music gear like speaker cabinets, or anything else that comes with those terrible hard plastic casters.

u/kim_wexlers_ponytail · 2 pointsr/RBI

Until you can get the locks changed and install a deadbolt, get yourself one of these door jammers pronto. You only use it when you're inside, so it doesn't violate any landlord right to entry (since you can let them in when you're home.)

You might also want to get a cheap nanny cam and aim it at the door for when you're not home, so you'll know if anyone is entering when you're not home.

u/JadedorTraded · 1 pointr/KetoBabies

It could potentially help, but it also might not. Definitely talk to your doctor about keto before starting. I have an autoimmune disorder and keto definitely helped with swelling in my joints and around high nerve density areas. That said, while a systemic reduction in inflammation may help, you may want to also get some external aids, like braces and such. My worst thing was with my forearms and hands going numb, so I got these foam things for my desk chair and it helped quite a bit as well.

One can get an extra inch to inch-and-a-half by replacing the casters with larger diameter ones.
One can get quite a bit of height by changing the pneumatic tube gas lift cylinder to a taller one.

One can unbolt the existing seat from its metal bracket, and use wood or another material as a spacer between the seat bottom and the lift/tilt/swivel mechanism.
