I recently graduated, and was living in a dorm room with one other guy. We didn't have much space or walls between us. I asked him if he'd mind if I worked out in the room and he said he was okay with it, so I did.
I always tried to do it when he wasn't around (largely for myself, but also for him), but sometimes he'd be there. Did it feel weird the first time he came home early and saw me doing P90X? Yes, very. But we basically both pretended like the other person wasn't there, and that was good. It felt less weird surprisingly quickly.
At some point I told him that he was welcome to use my equipment to do P90X if he ever wanted (but didn't invite him to do it alongside me because I just wanted to do it by myself to be honest), and eventually, he actually did get started! Huge surprise for me when he did. And that was actually pretty great for both of us.
So, I say go for it after you check with your roommies, and extend the offer to let them use your P90X stuff if they want to give the program a try. And if you're worried about odors, then the easiest thing would be to pick up some Febreze. Or better yet, may I suggest picking up a cheap electric oil warmer? This way you can get whatever scents you like most, make it as strong/weak as you like, and do it all for very cheap. For example, I happen to like eucalyptus, frankincense, and citrusy oils. I happen to really like good smells, so I had one of those before I got started with P90X anyway. (But you should also check with you roommates about this too so that you don't end up with any smells they don't like. Maybe let them help pick the oils.)
Good luck!
There are a few great ways to quickly relieve a bit of stress.
I wish you the best of luck during this stressful time! I can't stop procrastinating! This would be my item. One seller has it with free shipping.
Woohooo, congratulations on moving to your new Home Sweet Home. :D
This adorable thing would be perfect for burning essential oils and making the house smell amazing.
I love love LOVE these sunglasses:

I'm also madly in love with this little Buddha oil diffuser:

This is blue. (Well the glass is blue anyway!) I hope you are all having a happy 4th and are drunk and merry! :) Thanks for hosting.
I bought this standing oil lamp for my altar, however I have a few concerns as to how it should be used. I inserted a cotton wick that I made by hand from cotton balls and filled it up with vegetable oil. How long will the candle burn? Will the flame go down as the oil burns out? Just trying to stay safe folks. Haribol! ❣️
You can purchase this lamp on Amazon here: Aarti & Diya in One with Supported Flame https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J8NS86S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kAGtDbB9TCPSF
Very exciting, I hope you enjoy the hell out of it for many years. I've written about this before but you might be surprised when you get out there how little you need any kind of formal system. KISS, at least to start. :) To wit:
> Ideally we'd like enough power to power 1 or 2 led nights [sic] at night, maybe a small 32in TV etc. If there is enough power, a coffee maker maybe.
All that said I may not even get to my place next week and if I do I may die in the cold there, so there is the downside to just winging it. Do you have any pictures to post of what you got?
The Hinks Duplex burner should unscrew from the brass can. The can is part of the lamp and the burner itself is a separate item.
The base looks like it could be old Capodimonte, but hard to tell. It might be marked on its bottom and you may have to remove the brass base in order to see a maker's mark if there is one.
Of course that won't tell you who made or marketed the lamp, only who made the base that was used by whoever assembled and marketed the lamp. Many of the old lamp companies didn't make their parts themselves, but just purchased their parts from other makers of those parts.
You may want to measure the inside top area of the burner https://ibb.co/qMSSJWy and the height that would look right sticking out of the top of the lampshade for one of these, which I'm pretty sure it once had.

You can make one. Find a clay bowl (or make one out of air drying clay) and roll cotton to make a wick. Pour in ghee or vegetables oil in the bowl, add the wick and you are set. Some sites recommend you use a tealight, but it you want authenticity, then you are better off going with the oil lamp method.
There are steel ones as well.
Some on eBay. And others. And still more. Lots of styles.
Your link is not working though.
This is super sexy, well, for a candle holder...
I have two cats both of whom are kneaders and both of whom occasionally like to "help" me meditate. I wear a blanket over my legs and usually have a thick bathrobe on (since I meditate right after I shower) and that helps with any kneading.
As for candle safety, I use a catholic votive candle which comes in a glass jar and keep it in a small box shrine with doors. If you are using a more open flame so you can see it to meditate on you might consider getting a long box that you can stand up and put the candle in or even a tall clear glass candle holder or even an oil lantern with a wick.
3.Will help me relax
Smell goods always help relax!
its pretty rare that people would pay top dollar for something this old for its FUNCTION.
People pay top money for old shit because of its authenticity. The patina lends more credit that this object is really really old.
If they just wanted a functional gimbal lamp they could save a lot of money and just get one of these.

I have a few cheap walmart lamps. I save them for hurricane season, and blackouts (more rare than hurricanes in my area). The work sufficiently for the amount that I use them. Though, I do want some Dietz lamps. I hear that these are good.

not too expensive, and they probably burn at least 6 hours a filling.
Of course nowadays you can beat that with a single AA battery and one T1 LED, if you just want the light.

This one has a sheet metal base for stability and a wire kinda thingy to fit a small pot. Comments state that they're probably good for a cup of tea or one bag of generic, yellow-label Top Ramen, just boiling away, and not much else. You're not going to feed 5 people with a stir-fry with this thing.
Joshua Slocum cooked on an oil lantern on his single-handed, around the world sailing trip. His book says it was a double lantern, so I guess it had twice as many wicks?
---
My last trip, a few weeks ago, I pulled out my propane lantern. It ran at least 10 hours on 16 oz of propane, but I'm going to try to time and weigh it to get a more exact rate. About $1.33 a pound, buying it at the BBQ tank exchange place.
K1 kerosene around here runs like $3.59^9 per gallon
Yeah, there's no whoosh like the Northstar, def. If you burn 'em with citronella oil there's a little crackle and they smoke a bit (by design, helps repel bugs) but with clean kero and a properly trimmed wick they're dead quiet.
That large-tank one I linked upthread will last 4 days or more on a single tank, which is about 1/4 of a gallon (2-gallon jugs are about $10). I tend to fill mine up about once a season.
If you want one built like a tank, Feuerhand still makes them much the same as they were 100 years ago, and I guess they're about as much as a new Northstar.
The Dietz are still pretty darn solid, though, and you can get 3 of them for the price of one Feuerhand. Lamplight Farms makes some fairly decent ones for about $20 as well.
Only thing I'd avoid is the flimsy tin ones by Rothco and the like that you see at Walmart and other places. Most people's poor impression of kero lanterns comes from using crappy big-box store ones with cheap wicks.
What about something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Lamplight-Replacement-Oil-Lamp-Chimney/dp/B0015AE2QC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481483260&sr=8-1&keywords=glass+hurricane+lantern
This adorable warmer. The bit where the wax melt goes is not wide, but deep.
Oil lamps. Here's one that looks like the round one: https://www.amazon.com/Wolfard-Inch-Original-Oil-Lamp/dp/B000YBKMSA

You need a tongue scraper!
It'll change your life, apparently. I've been dying to get one.
Also, an oil burner. cause you want that place to smell damn good.
I have another idea about what this could be. In Hinduism, little lamps called diya are used in puja (ritualistic worship.) I've seen these lamps connected to each other similar to the item in your picture, such as here and here. The fact that the compartments are tear-drop shaped is characteristic of diya, because the little "notch" is where you'd rest the wick.
The answer you've been given already may very well be right, but this is what I thought of immediately when I saw your object. The fact that it has a locking mechanism wouldn't make too much sense if it were a diya, but I figured I'd throw the idea out there.
Jeez, I just looked it up on Amazon UK
Dietz 50 Comet Oil Burning Lantern (Black) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MAG53IQ/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_tai_Wjv3BbJX003WG
What a rip off
it's an oil lamp, kind of like https://www.amazon.com/Seven-Diyas-Diwali-Lights-Hindu/dp/B009UQFBWW
I have so many tealights and oils i dont know what to do with them. With this i'd actually be able to use them!
While you may not consider it strictly relevant to the generator question, I'd suggest that you also look into one of these oil lamps for hurricane prepping, as apparently they're meant to be able to withstand those level winds.
I just figure that if the power goes out at night and you don't have anything else, this might at least give you a small amount of light. If someone got hurt around your home, it might enable you to find and help them.
