Carpro Hydrofoam

Karcher K2.300 Pressure washer

MTM Foam Cannon

Videos:

water beading/sheeting

drying

I took advantage of this unseasonably warm weather we’re having in December to test out Carpro’s new soap, Hydrofoam. It’s a ‘wash and wax’ type product (though it says wash and coat on the bottle), so by using the appropriate dilution you’re going to clean and protect your vehicle in one step.

I used my Karcher K2.300 pressure washer and a 34 oz MTM foam cannon with a ratio of 27 oz clean tap water to 3 oz of Hydrofoam. The directions say to work a panel at a time, foam it up, wash like you would with a mitt normally to spread it around and clean, and rinse it off immediately. Clean and rinse your mitt after each panel. It was a little annoying to have to switch the foam cannon and regular pressure washer nozzle back and forth, but I found a rhythm. The whole car took about 10-15 minutes to do.

The before pictures showed that the car had minimal beading and some minor sheeting effects on it from some spray wax applied a week or two ago. The car also wasn’t very dirty so I wasn’t really concerned with how well the soap could clean.

After applying the soap and rinsing, the beading was obvious and reminded me very much of Hydro2.

Carpro Hydro2foam

Color: Clear, slight grey tint

Smells like: Paint. Not a very powerful scent to it, but it’s not like berry smelling or anything. Not offensive, just odd IMO

Consistency: Actually, this soap is pretty watery. Not very thick.

Cleaning power: ?/10. Hard to say, it cleaned the car no problem but it wasn’t very dirty to begin with. I’m not sure I’d use this soap on a heavy soiled car.

Foam: Out of the cannon, it was great.

Slickness: 7/10, very similar to Hydro2, but not as ‘glassy’ feeling

Pros:

Applies protection

Rinses easily and quickly

Ease of use

Cons:

Price? I guess you can argue that you're saving money by not using a wax though.

It didn’t seem to work too well on hard plastics, which I also noticed with Hydro2. The plastic chrome grille beaded just like the paint did though.

???

Durability

Overall: I am definitely impressed by this soap. It did exactly what it said it would, and I’m curious to see how it holds up. I trust Carpro, the bottle says ‘up to 3 months,’ so I expect just that. I’m not quite sure where exactly this soap would fit into MY personal regimen, if at all. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a fan of topping LSPs on each other, and since my car is coated I don’t think it’s even necessary to use something like this over it. However, I know there are people who get peace of mind from layering, so if that’s something you want, I think this soap would be good for you. This also could be useful for a quick summer maintenance wash and wax type product if you’re short on time, and applying by the foam cannon makes it very easy to work with. Since the dilution ratio is also pretty low, I would also not recommend getting this unless you have a pressure washer. I tried it with a two bucket wash and it just didn’t work out well enough. I got very little beading from the buckets, though I’m chalking it up to user error because I’m terrible with math and most likely didn’t apply the correct amount of soap to water.

I think this is worth the try. It may be pricey, and you’re only going to get about 5 uses out of the bottle if you’re using it in the foam cannon, but it’s fun and easy to use. Good job Carpro!

  1. Yes and No. The pressure washer is a tool like any other and is not necessary to detailing you car. Pressure washers really only give you two things. Control, and power. Control over how much water is used and where and power of that waters pressure. They're are hugely useful for tackling bigger jobs and making maintence washes a breeze. A regular hose can achieve the same clean as a pressure washer. This is the one I use "https://www.lowes.com/pd/Greenworks-1800-PSI-1-1-GPM-Cold-Water-Electric-Pressure-Washer/1000604813". It works excellently, doesn't break the bank and comes with a good host of accessories.

  2. OMG YES. They're fun, they work, and they make life easy. Again, this is the one I have "https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CGG67PY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1". Great for the money.

  3. I do wheels, trim, then paint from the top down but use whatever method works for you and properly addresses the needs of your vehicle.

  4. NO SPONGES. EVER. FOR ANY REASON. Not even a microfiber sponge. They lock in dirt and keep it, which causes damage to any finish you could be hoping to achieve. Get yourself a mitt, I preffer one I can out my hand in but whichever is fine. I'd link my mitt but they can be bought pretty much anywhere for cheap so no big deal.

5.Wash, decontaminate, clay, then spray. Spray wax is just wax in a liguid form and goes on pretty much the same as paste wax. They don't always last as long but work for DIY detailers like us.

  5. Clay works by being sticky as all hell and literally pulling baked in filth out of your cars paint/wheels. USe with a lubricant and wipe gently in a back and forth motion until the surface feels smooth as glass. Do small 2X2FT areas at a time. Clay as needed.

Hope this helps. Feel free to check out my youtube for a couple videos I've started making.

OK I am home from work. So....I see someone linked you to minedat. All the locations I was going to mention to you are in there. If you go to Big Brook, this is what you want to look for as far as fossils goes (we collected these ourselves): https://imgur.com/VgWjTnR..

The tube shaped things are fossilized phragmocones from belemnites.....a squidlike animal. You can see a fossil shark tooth on the left. The curved horn shaped things are oyster fossils and the round-is objects are fossilized brachiopods. These are also pictured on the Big Brook website: http://www.njfossils.net/invertebrate.html..

I suggest you take along many towels (muddy sometimes), a change of clothes, a bathingsuit (the water starts to look reeeeeally inviting on a hot day. We just sit in the water and sift). And one of these (This is the one we got. I think there are size restrictions so dont get a bigger one): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008B0T5Z2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1..

There is also a place called Poricy Park in Red Bank. We have never been but a friend of mine had great success there. Same situation as Big Brook, bring lots of towels because its muddy as heck. I feel like I am forgetting to tell you something but if I think of it I will comment again on this post. Feel free to ask any questions, we probably live less than 20 miles from you, so we know the area well. My husband is also a Geologist so feel free to pick our brains. Dont be shy!

u/Al_Ashrad · 1 pointr/lawncare

Hello fellow cheesehead!

I agree with the others here that a sprinkler is not where you should start. I made a conscious effort last year to monitor rainfall totals and used a sprinkler whenever there was less than 1" of rain per week. It helped keep my lawn a bit greener than the neighbors who didn't water, but not a huge difference.

If you're just getting started, I would recommend some other purchases first:

  1. Collapsible Gardening Bag - cheap and doesn't take up much space when collapsed. I use mine all the time for weeding or collecting fallen sticks/rock/etc before mowing.

  2. Broadcast Spreader - if you're going to be throwing down fert, pre-emergent granules, or seed and have a lawn of any size, I think a broadcast spreader is a worthwhile investment. If you have a bigger lawn, you might opt for a larger one, but this model works fine for my average-sized lawn.

  3. Stand-up Weeder - this was for my wife whose knees aren't great, but I've used it a few times and it works fairly well.

  4. Mower Blade Sharpener - Some people like taking their mower blades to get professionally sharpened, but this hand tool is pretty inexpensive and gets my blade pretty sharp. You'd be surprised how much of a difference a sharp mower blade can make.

Other than that, my only other piece of advice is to not neglect pre-emergent and grub preventer. Pre-emergent has saved me a ton of weeding and the one year I didn't use grub preventer I lost a sizable patch of lawn near my mailbox to grubs, which now I need to seed this spring.

Good luck with the lawn this year!

I recently bought this 5pc sifting set to sift thru my vermicompost and I enjoy using it so far. It's perfect for my current size (1 bin). They fit perfectly over a standard 5 gallon bucket. I'm able to sift 3 "types" of compost. Very fine, fine and compost with cocoons.

I definitely recommend them if you're small scale - It's a bit time consuming however.

You'll want one of these if you want to clean your car:
http://www.amazon.com/MTM-Hydro-Professional-Adjustable-Foamer/dp/B00EDSLVQC/ref=pd_sbs_lg_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1MMC8X642WWZG9R5J25W

Of course it may be cheaper to just go to those self-service car washes, as they're about five(ish) dollars a visit. I bought a ton of car stuff and it was quite a bit more than five dollars, and I don't think I will ever break even as I am rarely in the mood to drag out all the stuff to wash my car... but I don't regret buying them as it is nice to really wash my car on a nice day and really get in touch with it and fix any issues I find.

But those self service car washes are fun too! Grab a bluetooth speaker or hope the place plays music and rock out.

u/yourmistakeindeed · 2 pointsr/metaldetecting

I believe this is a fine detector for your purposes. I've seen better models for rent at the same price, especially if you are planning to use it for only the weekend. You may find a better one to rent for a comparable price. Although there tends to be a bit of a learning curve with higher quality detectors (in my experience) so make sure you get a good class from the dealer before you take it out.

Either way, that model will detect metal, no doubt about it., And with the kids, I would say an equally important part of this adventure is having the right tools. Specifically, a few of these to go around.

I've organized hunts for the little ones before, and I may or may not have seeded the beach with some coins in order to make sure everyone found something when it was their turn! Spend a few dollars and get a few rolls of coin to plant on the beach before the kids get out there. Or even a few Hot Wheels cars for the boys, or cheap accessory jewelry for the little ladies. I know it may not be a genuine experience, but I get the feeling this is more about creating memories. And there's nothing wrong with that. Don't forget the scoops!

Happy Hunting

u/cats_taste_shitty · 1 pointr/metaldetecting

My suggestions might be different if you hadn't indicated both low budget and immediate(?) need.

[Sand scoop] (https://www.amazon.com/SE-GP3-SS20-Plastic-Treasure-Hunting/dp/B00KEV2RRY/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468600120&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=snad+scoop)...the heavier/heavier duty ones become less attractive for a number of reasons. This one can be scooped through dry sand and shaken with relative ease. If wet sand...slow way down and place a shovelful into it and shake(not nearly ideal, but gets the job done and stays in budget)

Shovel...lots of options in the $10-$20 range. Check the local hardware store. IMHO, I would avoid wooden handles and def stay away from survival type tool/shovels with threads. Sand/grit + threads, don't mix well

A trash "bag". It's the nature of the beast, as you've seen in your 1st foray, you are likely to dig more trash than treasure. This is a great time to re-enforce good stewardship. Bring an onion bag or 2 to place all the junk finds in and dispose of them in a proper receptacle when you leave the beach. Small length of cord attached allows it to be slung over shoulder or slightly longer cord can be tied around waist and dragged behind.

Small goodie bag so treasure doesn't get "re-lost"

Have Fun!!!!

So I saw this post first on r/specializedtools this is what they found there.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NQD51PN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MyIZCbDJZE2WD?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app

It's a just a little tip that goes on the end of your powerwasher's hose. I'm sure there are others out there that are likely more efficient and probably more expensive than this one.

They that since it shoots the water jets backwards, the force from the expelled water actually pushes it through the clogs and blasts them out. Pretty neat and effective.

u/solarwinggx · 1 pointr/watercooling

cleaning it at first will seem daunting, but tbh, its not that bad.
putting it back together after cleaning everything is super easy.

u/DragonCenturion · 1 pointr/reloading

For separating I used to use the RCBS Media Separator, it worked ok, but was just a lot of work.
I am now using a set of gold sifting pans, 1/4 and 1/100, and it works great.

And as for the HF tumbler, I recommend Modding the Drum.

u/Harris_Bob · 5 pointsr/AutoDetailing

I've only owned a single foam cannon and that's the MTM Hydro Professional. This one has a smaller orifice specifically meant to be used with electric pressure washers that don't output the same water as gas pressure washers.

When I was researching foam cannons, I noticed the community was split on cheap <$20 foam cannons (the ones that pop up on Amazon by searching for "foam cannon"), and by higher end >$50 foam cannons like the MTM I have.

A lot of people were saying the cheaper ones performed just as well as the expensive ones, and a lot of people said they didn't. One thing I knew for sure from watching take-apart videos, was that the internal construction for more expensive foam cannons was a lot better than the cheaper ones. I figured if I was going to be using this in a business setting, I should opt for the more expensive one ensuring I get the better quality.

u/Spongi · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I'd invest in an inline carbon filter. They're typically used for indoor marijuana growing to disguise the very strong odor it produces.

Something like this.

I'd set one of those up near the window or where-ever the smoke enters at. You'll want a pre-filter to catch dust/big particles to make the carbon filter last longer and you can add a sponge at the end and buy various oils/scents and wet the sponge with it to help freshen the air as well.

I knew a guy who would grow 2 large hydroponic weed plants in a small room and you could not smell a thing because he used one of those carbon filters to vent it.

u/C_Troch · 1 pointr/Bonsai

I have one of these. It works great because they're designed to sit on a 5 gallon bucket so all the fines fall directly into the bucket for easy clean up. Granted, not as awesome as "The Machine"

How long do Sun Joe washers usually last? I just purchased the Sun Joe SPX3000 February 22nd. So far it's been pretty great; however, I do wish the hose for the gun was longer. I find myself having to move the washer a lot and with three separate wires/hoses to watch out for, they can get tangled pretty easily. I bought a foam cannon for it too and have been using Meguiar's Gold Class with it (not foaming that great, but I want to use it all before I move onto Chemical Guy's Mr. Pink). Your comment indicating that they aren't built to last has me questioning my purchase.

Would you happen to have any recommendations for a pressure washer that will last a while, good quality, less than $200, and still works with the electric pressure washer version of the MTM Foam Cannon?

u/thantik · 2 pointsr/3Dprinting

It's the same price or cheaper than a lot of plastic, and it's not hard to print with at all. Print directly on birch ply with no heat and it's fine. Heated garolite works amazing too. I print with both 645 and 618. Nylon can be extruded with any nozzle that'll do abs. I print at 243 degrees and it's great.

There's actually guy guy printing with this stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Maxpower-333665-Residential-065-Inch-1800-Foot/dp/B003VPAEL6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371438069&sr=8-1&keywords=maxpower%20trimmer&tag=vglnkc5387-20 and it's $21 for 3 pounds of the stuff (so much for saying it's more expensive). 1.75mm -- found from here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:104868

u/aresfour · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

I have guards and they work really well. I would recommend them wholeheartedly, I have a couple trees near the house and I really don't ever have to mess with the gutters, I love it.

You can get an extension for your leaf blower so you don't have to get up there (https://www.amazon.com/WA4092-Universal-Gutter-Cleaning-Blowers/dp/B00EU6H4RW )

Also, you had a typo that I see a lot, adverse - you wanted "averse". :)

This is my set up and works great. The reviews say the MTM doesn't work with the SunJoe SPX3000 but it does. I've ordered 3 in total for friends and myself. All of them has came with the 1/4in fitting and works perfect with the SPX3000. So the idiots that left the reviews saying it does not work must not know how to change out the fittings or something?

I actually use this thing because I treat all my throws and .. I have a lot. But it works the same as compressed air cans I used to use (and ran out of).

Position the air nozzle tube from above facing down at the bearing, at an angle, so it is "pushing" the bearing like you'd push a wheel... of course the air is doing all the pushing. It gets going VERY fast, such that you can feel the vibration of the spinning bearing in the alu cups

I took a pic of how I do it, here:

https://i.imgur.com/1gXs0ur.jpg?2

I always switch sides to hyperspin it in the other direction, too.. how much I need to do this overall depends on the bearing and how much lube was in there. I use two drops because I like it to get all up in there and spread around, but most of it comes back out in the spinning, so it is very true you end up only needing a teeeeeny amount actually in the bearing.

(did I ever tell you about the time I accidentally grabbed the wrong lube pen and put thick lube in? super dark times, my friend..)

u/GrammarFailure · 1 pointr/AutoDetailing

Sorry for graveposting, want to make sure I grab the right foam cannon:

This is the low psi version: Professional 2600 PSI Adjustable Foamer
and this is the high psi version: Professional Foam Lance Adjustable with 32 oz. Bottle

right? it looks like the low psi version doesn't come with quick disconnects, which I'm pretty sure I need to connect to my pressure washer, right?

u/shawt22 · 1 pointr/AutoDetailing

Hey guys, i'm new to detailing and I've been lurking around this subreddit for a while now, so I figured this was the right place to get some help.

I recently bought a Sun Joe Spx 1500 (https://www.amazon.com/Sun-Joe-SPX1500-Pressure-Electric/dp/B01IJ2SCF0/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3T9276WQD7OHU&keywords=sun+joe+spx1500&qid=1562874471&s=gateway&sprefix=sun+joe+spx+1500%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-2)

and a Dusichin Sfl-100 foam cannon (https://www.amazon.com/DUSICHIN-SFL-001-Pressure-Release-Adjustable/dp/B00WPKHFA6/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_86_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=E38KDVCN4MV5RTRMGQWR)

and the cannon does not go with the pressure washer, so I was looking for some help on how I would go about making these two work together instead of buying another foam cannon.

I was thinking about buying this gun (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZZ2LQ35/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3N2AP77W7SQTI&psc=1), but i'm not sure if it would work with my pressure washer or if I would need and adapter or something.

Any help would be appreciated. (sorry for the formatting)

You'll need a different spray gun since the Portland washer comes with an adjustable nozzle.

I tend to recommend Twinkle Star as a cheap option with decent quality:

Okay, this guy on Youtube puts Apple prices on the things he makes, more power to other people's wallet. You can make your own. Some items you will have to order, some items like the adapter can be found at your local hardware stores.

$15 wand Throw away type, it breaks toss it, still better than the stock wand.

$35 Wand These are serviceable, internal parts can be replaced. The stainless versions can get into $$$.

$65 Stainless Wand

$35 swivel I have two of these, one at the pressure washer outlet and the hose end, the one at the pressure washer started leaking, pricey doesn't mean better all the time.

$15 swivel I'll put these on the wand itself.

Better quick connecters Really a must buy for swaping out accessories even with cold or wet hands.

Adapters

Pipe thread tape This is thicker and better than the white tape.

You're gonna splash the drywall a little (which should have cove base on it and be painted to protect against water to a degree). It'll dry. Not gonna hurt it.

Or use a floor scrubber attachment. They're $45 at Walmart. Damn things are AMAZING.

u/BlueFalchion · 2 pointsr/3Dprinting

If you really want you can use .065" trimmer line. Its super low quality, full of moisture, and only comes in blue (Color coded by diameter), so it bubbles a lot when printed. The appeal is $22 for 3 lbs. I haven't gotten around to oven baking it yet, and that might help.

Doesn't really matter, this isn't a precision job. Just sit on the ground, hold it against your knees with one hand and file with the other if you have to. Have any clamps? Clamp it to a table. Better yet (if you can't install a bolt-in vice) get a vice that just clamps onto a surface. <$30 for a decent quality once.

This. You hook a fan up to it and it pulls air through a dust filter then through the activated charcoal. Takes care of the smell completely.

Hey guys I'm about to buy my first pressure washer and I just wanted to make sure I got all the parts correct.

Extension Hose

Washer Gun

M22-14mm Male to M22-15mm Female Adapter

M22-14mm to 3/8' Quick Connect Plug

two M22-14mm male ends to 3/8' Quick Connect Couplers

3/8' Quick Connect Plug

1/4' Quick Connect Coupler

I followed a guide I saw here on this subreddit but mainly wanted to see if I still needed the M22-14mm to M22-15mm adapter since I'm using a Sun Joe extension hose and not buying a 50ft hose. Also wanted to see if that adapter is correct one.

Thank you very much

We have an entry in the wiki regarding this question. https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoDetailing/wiki/pressurewashers . I personally use this foam canon and I love its performance. It comes with 3 adapters, it should have the quick disconnect fitting you need. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EDSLVQC/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/thousand56 · 13 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I have this

It works great

u/TyrantLeo · 3 pointsr/AutoDetailing

Just get an electric power washer with 2000 psi and this foam cannon from Amazon.

You may have to remove the original adapter the factory put on the foam cannon with the American standard in order for it to fit onto the sprayer.

Afterwards, enjoy!. Don't mind the spec sheet at the bottom of the list. It's outdated.

u/darthjenni · 2 pointsr/Vermiculture

I got a set of Stackable Sifting Pans that gold miners use. I like them because they fit over a 5 gallon bucket that can turn into storage until I need the material.

Edit to add: If I was going to get them again I would only get the 1/4", 1/8".

u/dickwart · 1 pointr/370z

Here's the one I use:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EDSLVQC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's heavy duty, and I really like it. The foam in this shot isn't all that great - but it's because I chose to really just get it soaking to get the grime off. Plus, I use chemical guy's which is probably the best around (IMHO) but isn't quite as snowy as others I've used.

u/hydrogen_wv · 2 pointsr/AutoDetailing

I use this one with my ARBlue 390SS and Meg's Gold Class. It has two adjustments, one to change the shape of the spray and another to adjust ratio of water:soap mix. I'm not sure exactly which foam lance you have, but if it doesn't have a dilution adjustment, that may be the issue.

You could also try increasing the soap:water ratio in your bottle to get it thicker, to see if that helps instead of buying a new foam gun.

Edit: Changed link to proper model for electric power washers. Thanks, TimeToGrowThrowaway

I use this one:
https://www.amazon.com/SE-GP2-5-SET-Patented-Stackable/dp/B00C7YCQIQ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=classifier&qid=1558736680&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Fits right over a 5 gallon bucket. Best used with a tool to push the castings through, as opposed to sifting by shaking.

That's what I used, it was a little rough trying to control my drill while I was running it over the blade. I feel like it did pretty good, but then I did a second pass with one of these to get it razor sharp: Smith's 50603 Mower Blade Sharpener https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VTO5N2G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Jj6-Ab31GKD3A

I broke two small hand shovels before I upgraded to these two items:

https://www.amazon.com/Garrett-Edge-Digger-Sheath-Mount/dp/B009OY65NE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481305125&sr=8-1&keywords=garrett+shovel

They make digging targets in any ground conditions much easier. Just be careful with the large shovel when you're digging around buried pipes or cables. Its so sharp it will cut through most things without you even knowing.

u/elisabethecole98 · 1 pointr/metaldetecting

Here's the one I bought:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006AEBI6K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's small and lightweight but cuts through the dirt like a hot knife through butter! ☺

u/hyperair · 1 pointr/3Dprinting

Maxpower 333665 works well on 1.75mm hotends. If you select another brand, be careful to get the ones that don't come with glass fibers in them.

u/Jouaram_The_Fat_Mule · 6 pointsr/AutoDetailing

Any type of foaming ability included with a pressure washer will be crap. You need to buy an actual foam cannon such as this one to get the results you want. There are cheaper options than this one but I elect to stay with MTM.

I usually put 2 ounces of soap into the canister to get optimal foam.

u/GregTheHandyman · 2 pointsr/powerwashingporn

I recommend something a bit smaller then what I am using in the video. I use this surface cleaner professional and it requires 4000 psi and 3.5gpm.

I actually found something like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Tommyco-KP818-Purpose-Garden-Kneeler/dp/B001JEOH50/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1414378853&sr=8-2&keywords=gardening+knee+pad) at Walmart this summer and I've been using that. I have bad knees and it helps a lot. Blankets just don't cut it for me.

u/KingEllis · 2 pointsr/yoga

Someone on this subreddit recommended "gardener kneepads". I ended up getting a few of these. I keep them beside my yoga mat always.

Fits on top of a five gallon bucket. I just have a small tumbler so I don't have to use it for a whole lot. It's probably not ideal if you have a bigger pile but I've seen a few bigger DIY versions on YouTube that do basically the same thing.

You might have to change the fitting on the cannon though. You can get the fittings at Home Depot.

u/inneedofcreativity · 3 pointsr/Vermiculture

I bought this and when I sift, most everything goes through, including these rather large egg shells from my first attempt at composting.

Should I have gotten a smaller size? Or does anyone have any advice to make it more usable?

u/cycling_duder · 1 pointr/3Dprinting

Also 1.75mm is a common size for trimmer line Example

u/DetectorReddit · 1 pointr/metaldetecting

Buy it off Amazon and have it shipped directly to the hotel- it looks cheap enough to just leave it there when you are done.

u/pabloescobyte · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I actually don't recommend using compressed air if at all possible as the cans typically contain propellants that can end up being harmful to your keyboard internals like the PCB and switches in the long run.

If the keyboard is really dirty, I use a DataVac which, while pricey at $100, is considerably cheaper than buying cans of compressed air over the long run. The DataVac is used to clean my PC regularly anyway so it's a good investment and after half a dozen uses has already paid for itself.

For light cleaning I use a Giottos Rocket Air Blaster to blow away dust and other small particles. Anything stuck on or dried I use Isopropyl alcohol and Q tips to clean up.

Keycaps that are dirty get a warm water bath and are air dried over a microfiber cloth. Once they're dry they get wiped with the same microfiber cloth. Anything dirty inside is cleaned with Q tip and Isopropyl alcohol and a soft toothbrush is used for the inside and around the stems.

When not in use I keep the keyboards in individual sleeves which I recently got custom made by the wife.

I got the SunJoe. Have only used it a couple of times, once on my car and once on my small entryway and rear patio (10x10 concrete slab covered in northwest moss/mold). It has performed perfectly on both occasions.

For me, the SunJoe hit the "sweet spot" of features, power, and price. It was $149 at both Amazon and Home Depot (online order only). I went with Home Depot for an easier return in case I wasn't happy. Comes with five nozzles for variety of options (widest 40-degree spray for car rinse, 15-degree did the rear deck just fine). Motor is not quiet, but at least it only runs when you're actually using the sprayer.

As one other user noted, the hose is a bit short - I think it's 20 feet. I own a VW Golf, and with the machine a few feet from the front of the car, it took a bit of a reach to be able to foam the back (I live in a townhome and my wash space is a bit tight). 30 feet would be optimal. That said, the hose material seems sturdier than the "roll up" hoses that come with the Ryobi and PowerWorks washers that I inspected closely at Home Depot and Lowe's.

Speaking of build quality, when you read online reviews, it seems that every brand has problems with longevity and bad "out of the box" units. All of the consumer-grade electrics I inspected seem the same kind of Chinese mass-market build quality. They might last 7-8 years of light duty use, they might leak the first time you use them. Caveat emptor. The SunJoe's two year warranty where almost everyone else offered one was a selling point for me.

One other thing worth noting: MTM Hydro makes two different foam cannons. One is specifically designed for pressure washers under 2600 psi. This is the one you want to get: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EDSLVQC?keywords=mtm%20hydro&qid=1458490183&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1
