🎓 Reddit experts on plant cages & supports
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where plant cages & supports are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
>Showerheads: Get it changed immediately. It'll cost less than 1000. It'll save your time and better your hygiene. You will feel less depressed in the morning.
It takes 10 secs to open a shower head, and a minute to clean one. The force of the shower head depends on the source not the shower head. Been so many years(decades) never had to replace one!
>Western Toilets: Get your toilet seat changed to something more flatter and wider, it'll cost you around 600. Also use a good quality hand faucet/spray/jet. Get it fixed/changed if the pressure has gone down. Should cost you less than 500. Use good quality toilet paper, look up Selpak.
Petite women often slip inside wide toilet seats, ain't nobody got time to buy scented toilet paper, use left hand, water and dettol hand soap.
> Many iPhones run on 1GB RAM and still drop fewer frames than 4GB phones. earlier gen iPhone and you will do fine
Cheapest 1gig Iphone still cost more than Nexus 5X, no thanks! Earlier Iphone's will be slow and get boggled down by lack of memory and low ram from day 1.
>Display: You can now buy a 22 inch, 1080p display from Dell/LG for around 10,000. Buy two of them if you need your work spread out.
Work on excel, Acrobat, and Chrome simultaneously on a 15inch 768p screen, never felt the need for two screens. Just learn to use multiple desktops and stack windows. Albeit some people need multi-monitors for specialized needs, but not everyone.
>Kitchen Knives: If you don't know anything about knives, just start with Victorinox paring knives (http://www.amazon.in/Victorinox-Swiss-Classic-Paring-Knife/dp/B001U54YBU/) They are very affordable. Then move on to Chef's knives. There are many good brands there but you can explore that later.
861rs for 3 Chutkut knives? Fuck no! Unless I am trying to cut metal or rocks, a 50Rs-100rs knife will easily retain it's sharpness for over 3months. And when it loses edge, get that guy with that rock cycle to sharpen it; takes 5-10rs for it!
>Gas Stove: I know everything is right with 2 burner stoves, but your whole cooking process will change with 4 burner stoves. You can never go back to two burners after that. This one is not essential though, specially if you live alone or don't cook much.
4 burners burnt simultaneously will eat the LPG twice as fast. A No LPG subsidy no more, Cover food when cooking, cooks faster.
>Containers/Boxes/Bottles: Tupperware or Signoraware. Their lids will never go loose and they will last forever.
Had a set of those expensive microwave safe Tupperwares, tried cooking maggie, fuckin lid deformed.
>Pillows: Stop buying those 200 rs recron pillows. They have literally zero form. Most of us anyway stress our back by sitting on a chair whole day, don't worsen it by stressing your back for the rest of the night. See, pillows are complicated. One pillow can be good for me but bad for you. You have to figure out first whether you sleep on your back or sides. If you sleep on back, the hight of the pillow needs to be less, if you sleep on the sides then the hight needs to be more. The hardness needs to be just enough to support these heights. So ideally a pillow should support variable sizes depending on the size of your body and sleep pattern. Here is one for reference: http://www.amazon.in/Viaggi-0058-CERVICAL-PILLOW/dp/B00M97WOV0
3k for a fuckin pillow? Go to desi GADDA guy, will give you better stuff at 200 then what you get online.
>Boxes of Museli, roasted grams, peanuts, sprouts, fresh fruits etc.
ye saab museli, roasted grams, sprouts ka heh? Bhai saheb app kaha k ho? Keep atta, refine oil and rice. Will come in handy during APPADKALINE situations more then Mussolini.
>Desk chair: Your chair does not need wheels or 5 inches of padding. The most important thing is the shape of the backrest and to a lesser extent, the armrest. Go to stores, try a few. If you can't get a new one, at least get a separate backrest itself. Something like this: http://www.amazon.in/HealthSense-Backrest-Cushion-Memory-Foam/dp/B00S2J3DFK
90degree angle back chair is o.k to work on a desk for few hours or as a dining table companion to eat, but if an I.T guy were to sit on it all day. He'd be killing himself.
>Footwear: This is very important. You will have to spend some money here. You may not be aware how different it actually feels to wear something that is meant to give care to your feet. Go to a store, try out some stuff from asics, sketchers etc. You will have to spend around 4000 to get started but suddenly you will want to walk to every place. Save up money to get a good pair. I absolutely insist.
4000Rs shoe isn't necessary, got one chappal for 99rs from flipkart and a sneaker from Globalite worth 350 from amazon, still going strong after a year.
Wanna know cheap? Picked up Holi Powder falling on the ground to rub other's today, washed clothes in friends washing machine, ate food at his house, updated apps at his house, snatched a pair of socks he got at some wholesale market. Packed extra roti's in newspaper that his mother made, sabji in polythene bag, gonna eat that now as dinner. Forced him to drop me off. All this at zero rupees!
EDIT: As O.P also requested more hacks, here it goes; (will keep updating it.)
For the smokers and Tobacco Chewers
My hipster anytime high friend uses these tricks;
Edit 2:
I found a no name branded version of this Velcro at the dollar store for a couple bucks.
https://www.amazon.ca/VELCRO-Brand-Adjustable-Gardens-Gardening/dp/B00NC5C38W
It’s meant for gardening but has been awesome for cable management. I was able to route all my cables in one chunk all together and use about 8-10 inches of this stuff to strap up the “trunk of cables” all together is every foot or so. It works awesome. Super cheap, can be taken off and reattached and has held fine for me so far. It’s not the strongest Velcro but for a few cables it has worked for me.
My mother gave me two plants to keep for her over the winter (her porch, where she keeps her plants in the winter, is full). This is the biggest one (I don't know what it is...) and as you can see, it kind of spreads out in all directions taking up a lot of space (I have a small apartment). So I was just wondering if I could put a bamboo stake in the pot, and use soft wire tie to gently train the plant to be more upright? What do you think? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
I use something similar to this hoop plant support. I tried the moss pole but that thing got pretty moldy. It is working great for me. i dont have any aerial roots though.

It is pretty useful! Actually, I use tomato clips that I order on Amazon. Here's a link to them. They work really well, they trap the string so you don't even have to secure it at the base.
I would, it allows it to grow nicely, i bought this really nice green plastic trellis on amazon, the plant loves it
GROWNEER 3-Pack Plant Cages Assembled Tomato Garden Cages Stakes Vegetable Trellis, w/ 9Pcs Clips, for Vertical Climbing Plants https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07CG7KQND/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_gsCLJqGxw1SeP
Plant them deep, in solo cup, use a pencil and plant clip to hold them up towards the light while they recover. Once the get some age on them pull clips so they stand on their own.
60 Pcs Plant Support Clips,Flower and Vine Clips,Garden Tomato Plant Support Clips for Supporting Stems,Vines Grow Upright (2 sizes in one pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D4O0O2C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8au6CbCFAPX40

This might help a bit with catching them. No cup/ piece of paper wangjangle. You can keep them at a healthy distance and then throw them out the window without having to kill them and clean up the mush afterwards.
I use this
Works really well. I love khangstars videos too. I watch loads of them
What do you mean by “good stuff”? If you mean nutrients, I’d recommend a high quality feed such as Formulex, I swear by it. It’s not as nitrogen heavy as cheaper plant food and has a long list of trace nutrients which encourage more balanced growth and more robust plants. I’m surprised you haven’t fed them at all by now, I usually start feeding after a plant has been in new soil for about 3 or 4 months.
If you’re referring to the acidity of the soil itself, there are cheap ph meters you can buy on amazon that will give you a rough guide, but the soil is unlikely to change ph very much after just a year. If the soil really has changed ph drastically somehow, there are additives you can get specifically to alter the acidity of your soil.
Formulex 1L Liquid https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003UMQRWA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.UkbBbHX2VBP5
Should have bought some plant yo yos and let her finish completely. She looks good though.
VIVOSUN Retractable Plant Yoyo with Stopper for Grow Support in Tent Garden or Hydroponics, Pack of 12 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GNHQQD9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qj2LDb745H2GP
The previous owner of my house kindly left a bunch of peony hoops (that look like these ones on Amazon). I can't vouch for the Amazon ones, but the ones I have are quite sturdy and work very well. I don't see them around the plant once they're leafed out.
Plant YoYos are a good option, if you have something above to hang them from.
Or just gardening twine. It won't hurt anything to support every branch you can. Just don't let the supports touch the bud sites, if possible. I wouldn't take off any more leaves. My guess is you have more time left than you think.
Ours fall over and then the stem breaks. We finally got smart and ordered stakes this year! (After they bloomed and we thought about it)
Link: MTB 24 inch Single Stem Plant Support Stakes, Pack of 10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07258SR94/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_gritDbJKTYV0B
It's a roller hook system that you can adjust. You just wrap the tomato plant around it as it grows. Its worked great for me the past 2 years.
Ive just started using the vertical sting trellis for my tomatoes. Amazon has cheap reusable clips that bite down on the string, way more orderly and effective than I initially imagined.
https://www.amazon.com/AKOAK-Support-Vegetables-Upright-Healthier/dp/B01HGJHL8G/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Tomato+clip&qid=1564236201&s=gateway&sr=8-5
Yeah I was thinking there was some trick to this but there isn't! You literally just stick in your stake into the bottom of the pot and try to pack in enough soil around it to stabilize it, then add the plant and more soil (don't pack too hard around the roots, just the stake).
Also if you're planning to buy your own instead of DIY this is the one I picked, I like it because it's made of PVC pipe (so it will never rust because there is no metal), it's pre-treated for pests (I've seen some reviews on sphagnum moss poles saying they were infested) and it's made of coco coir which is a renewable resource (not all moss is). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TN3W1VS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you do want to DIY this video from Planterina shows her making one that is almost identical to the one I linked above, plus several other ideas and pros/cons on different materials https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LcmCWY1yEs
Never seen those before! They could be fine, although most of the moss poles I’ve seen are much thicker because they’re PVC wrapped in moss/coir.
This is the one I have:
God's Own Garden Natural and Organic Coco Coir Moss Pole Totem (36) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TN3W1VS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ri7HDbN6C8N3B
I would guess that it should be fine...but ya you probably want to put a stake in the dirt during veg instead of that far into flower before too much root growth has taken place.
Something like this would have probably been better. You dont even have to put it right next to the plant. You could just use it to tie off of from 6" away or even rigged to the side of the pot.
I would recommend staking it with something like this
Here is the amazon page.
get some yo-yo's for your plants, that should make it easier.
https://www.amazon.com/FishYuan-Hanger-Stopper-Adjustable-Support/dp/B07GPQV9ZL/ref=asc_df_B07GPQV9ZL/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=242007911028&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15991858915317567633&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-522858940710&psc=1
Spring-loaded lines that have a hook on the end.
I'll attach them at the top of my tent and then drag the hooked line underneath a branch or cola I want to life up.
They lock into place and the hooks are pretty small. you can also wrap a small rubberband or plant training wire around larger branches that still need help from the yo-yos. Just lock into place once you got or else you risk the plant sagging the line once the flowers put on more weight.
I didn't want to use one scrog, let alone two.
Edit: these thaangs https://www.amazon.com/G-LEAF-Hangers-Hydroponics-Support-Retractable/dp/B07FVNFT4M/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=plant+yoyo+hangers&qid=1566345430&s=gateway&sprefix=plant+yoyo&sr=8-4

But just about anything will work.
This stuff is fantastic and cheap for cleaning up cable mess
$10 for about 40 feet, with 5" perforations. I did a whole recording studio with it.

Or try this. By a decent knife (100 bucks is decent) and get a whet stone for 50 bucks. That shit will last you a LONG time. I mean it. Seriously. You just have to understand how to retain an edge and you'll be left with a sharp knife 24X7.
The secret to this is, you'll probably have to grind the knife a little when you're sharpening it for the first time and this may take a good twenty minutes. Once done, you'll only need to run the knife's edge over the stone gently just a couple of times every time you feel it is losing its edge. That's it. Chop onions like mother fookin Gordon Ramsay. Marvel at your ability to finely slice cucumbers. Become the knife maniac that you should be.
