Top Reddit comments about PlayStation 3 Thumb Grips:

I truly cannot belive no one has suggested Valkyria Chronicles. It's a 3rd person strategy/rpg/shooter and if you can get over the anime art atyle the gameplay is amazing. Also it's only $20 most places.

These are my personal favorite RPGs on the system atm:

Oblivion: GOTY
Demon's Souls
White Knight Chronicles
Dragon Age

I haven't played Star Ocean 4 International Edition or Final Fantasy XIII but I've heard they're wuite good.

You need to play LittleBigPlanet and Heavy Rain simply because they offer amazing modern gaming experiences.

You can buy some contorller add ons like triggers, thumbstick caps and cover skins. I also have large hands which cramp easily but I have found that by combining these three add-ons the controller is much more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time.

I also highly recommend checking out the Bannco Fragnstein to help easy your transition from the mouse/keyboard set-up. This controller is excellent for 1st adn 3rd person perspective games such as Oblivion and Uncharted 2.

As others have stated using the PS3 for internet browsing (especially with bluetooth keyboard and mouse) NETFLIX and as a media server are excellent uses of the system. If you have a PSP you can connect the two and remotely access your PS3 using your PSP from anywhere you can grab a wifi signal.

-Bonus Points- Coming out soon is a gaem called Gothic 4: ArcanA. The Gothic series has always been a very dark, mature role-playing series with more of a fanbase in Europe (Germany especially) and I think finding a German language of that game shoudl not be too difficult.

I tried doing a joystick swap on my SN30 Pro. The joystick caps fit the joystick modules just fine, but they didn't fit through the controller casing properly.

My solution was to add these caps instead. They work fine for preventing wear on the joystick caps. I've used a set on my new Pro+ as well, and they fit on that controller as well.

That said, I'd still be more comfortable with a full stick mod if someone can provide pictures of a working one. Have you tried these joysticks?

u/grammar_nazi_zombie · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

My left joystick peeled too, less than 2 months after purchase, though I put like 80+ hours into Gungeon on it in that time period. 8bitdo wouldn't replace as they said it looked like physical damage/wear and tear. So I bought some joystick grips, but will warn ya: they can impede usage of the sticks. I tried a few pairs before I found one that works.

Wound up with this one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073ZWZVLT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_2hIQBb88MHVXD

Many of the others I tried had much thicker rubber on the sides/bottom and they'd rub the controller, preventing the stick from moving freely. Note that these ones don't work on my MLG Pro 360 controller for that same reason, so if you happen to have one of those too, you'll need a different grip there.

That's my biggest gripe with the controller. I do have a love/hate relationship with the stick travel distance, especially the right stick. It's got probably the most stick travel of any controller I've ever used, and the right stick is a little too close to the center for a game like Gungeon that uses it to aim and face buttons for important features, thank God for remappable controls. The travel is massive compared to JoyCons and requires a little adjustment, but that just allows more overall precision

u/ta1ntdude · 1 pointr/gaming

What you lack in precise aiming is made up for with other things being easier. Strafing always seemed better to me because you are not limited to 4 directions, but can use all 360 degrees. Also you can play a hell of a lot longer without getting hand cramps. Also you can play while on your back on any position you want. This is coming from someone who prefers PC, but is honest about how capable consoles are at FPSs. Besides moving all other movements like jumping and crouching and toggling are a bit quicker on controllers. Also this product exists to help with precise aiming. They extend the length of the analog sticks allowing for more precise movement. http://www.amazon.com/FPS-Freek-KontrolFreek-Classic-Pc/dp/B002R2JCNK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1323722541&sr=8-2

I got these for the thumb grips recently and I LOVE them! They're super grippy and hug onto the controller joystricks really tightly (downside is they are a LITTLE tough to get on for the first time...but it's not like it will take you 10 minutes or anything. lol).

u/Carpe_Dragon · 1 pointr/xbox360

These are pretty awesome, if you plan on playing some FPSs.

u/bmcclure937 · 1 pointr/mw3

I was considering some FPS Freeks because my left thumb stick actually begins to wear out from pressing my thumb down to sprint. Does anyone else have this problem?

Regardless. I think that they could provide more control, but I may get the Gamer Pack (includes the CQC Freek and FPS Freek). This will allow me to use the CQC Freeks if I do not like the height of the FPS Freek.

This will allow me to have better control of the sticks. I am still on the fence whether I should get them or not.

u/Esham · 1 pointr/PS4

i just bought some "cheap" covers off of amazon.

They were $10 for 4 of them that i put on both of my sticks. One stick i had to remove all of the old rubber as it was too hard to get on. The others i didn't remove any rubber. In both scenarios they fit perfectly.

These:

(change to .com for american prices, probably cheaper)

u/goodgreenganja · 1 pointr/SteamController

I just wanna throw out there that I'm in the same boat as you. My thumbsticks just wear down waaay too fast on my Steam Controller and once they're gone, the controller's done for me. I got a controller replacement once before and now both the replacement and another I got are already almost done again. I bought these that were an okay temporary replacement: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016YQRYNY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_CsS9SA8T1kIsE

But the nubs wear down really fast and for some reason they were actually more slippery than my worn down sticks. Then I tried these out: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OXT579S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_Z2knAmEqJCyIW

And those are just too big and loose. You can feel them sliding around over top of the thumbstick and they would often just slip right off. So that's where I'm at currently. I'd love some suggestions for caps that fit well that are actually grippy.

u/dRwEedThuMb · 4 pointsr/mw3

You're new to Xbox, it's going to take time to adjust from your point-n-click accuracy to a brand new device in your hand. Mess around with your sensitivity and find whats comfortable for you. From there just keep playing n playing. I think after that you could graduate to FPS Freeks

Practice practice my friend...

u/TealShift · 1 pointr/SteamController

I can't speak for any caps besides the ones I got here. They're a bit tough to attach but I love them.

u/elo228 · -3 pointsr/gaming

I strongly suggest These Kontrol Freek Adaptors They trully add accuracy and it allows you to use the tip of your thumb.

I am not exaggerating, My kd in mw3 was 3.4 and 3.1 in BO2, definitely worth the $12

u/Levismullet · 1 pointr/FortNiteBR

Oh yeah. Took me about a week to get totally used to it. But the joysticks are too slick. I HIGHLY recommend these if you do get a PS4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019PGV8VO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_IOZ6Bb9D1EX61

u/barnum · 0 pointsr/gaming

Changes I'd make to the dualshock:

L2/R2 to be more like these

analog sticks to be more like these.

and they should make different sizes (like S/M/L versions), everyone has different sized hands, so why should everyone have the same sized controller.

u/ChachMcGach · 4 pointsr/ps3bf3

Start with RocketSurgeon's suggestion about starting high and dialing it back until it feels comfortable.

Turn on aim assist if it's not on.

I use these things: FPS Freek by KontrolFreek

They were tough to get used to and I only use it on the right stick but they seem to help.

u/DefinitelyHittinOnYa · 2 pointsr/gaming

I have these -> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YI458I on "my" controller. I have big hands and my controller feels comfortable with those things on. No question of which the better controller is or who gets what. Friends get intimidated by the controller I use just because they aren't used to it.

u/Neodymie · 1 pointr/PS4

I have one of these on my left stick http://www.amazon.com/KontrolFreek-FPS-Vipr-Xbox-360/dp/B003YI458I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1393965246&sr=8-4&keywords=control+freek

and a gripit in the right.

The controlfreek ones are amazing, particularly in FPS.

u/Ghastly_Vernacular · 3 pointsr/PS4

$8 ones from gamestop are decent.

I just upgraded to CQC kontrol freeks. Weird name but they are quite legit. I am about to order my 2nd pair. They're around $4 more but way worth it.

u/Minusfourty · 2 pointsr/3Dprinting

Really all you need is something like this (assuming your joystick is to scale), but TPU could work.

u/HakkeshouKaiten · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Insten [2 Pair / 4 Pcs] Wireless Controllers Silicone Analog Thumb Grip Stick Cover, Game Remote Joystick Cap for PS4 Dualshock 4/ PS3 Dualshock 3/ PS2 Dualshock/Xbox One/Xbox 360, Black/White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MG0GHB4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iPQ5CbMP5GCDM

but i ended up going with the skull and co. thumbgrips

u/frodomann108 · 5 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Not super embarrassing, but I have always wanted to try these FPS Sticks. Even though I doubt it will help my game skillz.

u/inmusicutrust · 1 pointr/PS4

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005Z2DRXU

I should also mention that part of the reason they pop off is due to them being so tall.

u/Null_zero · 0 pointsr/gaming

You can use these. I only use one on my right stick since I don't need the finer control on the left stick but they still keep your fingers in.

u/macktastick · 2 pointsr/Team_Awesome

> adding an FPSfreak stick to your right analogue

I'd like to second this, though I swear I got mine cheaper than this (also from Amazon). As far as sensitivity goes, I'm at what you're calling a 5, but I had to incrementally bump it up over several sessions. I didn't find it easy to just jump to 5 (though I did try... I just sucked).

u/meltmyface · 1 pointr/PS3

damn I want those silicone caps but they only ship from china.

nevermind, i found some

I don't have any unique anniversary stories. I should Ive been with my SO for almost 8 years. Well, on our 2 year anniversary we had anal for the first time and I orgasmed from it, that was my first ever real orgasm.
